One problem after another

Had BT broadband for about a month and regret it. Had the package with phone and vision and lots of problem to start. Then it was ok then found my bank account had been hacked. Checked my AVG to see if I had any virus but found nothing. I am now too scared to use internet banking. Thought I would sign up for the BT security but my pc has become so slow. Like 20 mins to get on line and 5 minutes to get each page. I tried to download it but it is taking ages left it for 45 minutes and nothing much happens, just have a box at the bottom with file name and when I click to open it I get the 'run 'thing and click that but nothing else happens. It doesn't ask me to do anything and has not removed my AVG and can't see anything in programs.
I am really fed up with the whole thing

It loves to show me a box saying unresponsive with 'wait 'or 'kill' I am getting good at waiting

Try giving your iPad a reset. Hold down the sleep and home keys for about 20 seconds. When you see the silver apple, let go and let it reboot and try again.
How are you charging it? its's best charged plugged into the wall not via USB. So if you're trying via USB, try using the supplied power block plugged into the wall.

Re: One problem after another

Mine was meant to be activated yesterday but I got the exact same status messages as you, I called them today but couldn't make sense of the guy on the phone as if he didn't really know what the problem is so avoiding my questions head on. Apparently they are gonna call me tomorrow, what about? I asked why and asked couldn't they just activate it, another question I didn't get a proper answer to.
I also chose BT because of the Sainsbury's voucher promotion which you can't claim until your set up so if they cancel the order and create a new one since the date of the promotion has passed I'm assuming their not gonna offer me that incentive any longer.
It's early days but your experience doesn't fill me with hope.

I record a midi keyboard track and it sounds fine as Im recording it, however, it won't play back in time no matter what I do, seems awfully useless to have all these "great software instruments" and not even be able to use them, one problem after another

I record a midi keyboard track along with a song, it sounds great, then, when i go to mix, playback, the midi track is behind the beat and out of sync.. i've tried every setting I can think of.. the strangest thing is that I've used this exact keyboard in the past with this exact computer, running the same version of logic pro, and it worked fine, now it just doesn't work.. it seems an awful waste to have all these "great software instruments" but they are essentially useless now... it is beyond frustrating to have this so-called "great technology" that doesn't even work and to spend more time TRYING to get it to work than actually doing some work with it...

After re-reading the first post, I don't think it would be quantize, either, sorry about that.
There are a couple more places to look:
Look at the highlights, one is for track, one is for region. Notice how I have it on MIDI thru (top part). That has a delay value. When you select a region, you can have a different value there, as well. Also, the Track part has a place with a delay value. These are three delay values that are in addition to the audio preference Recording delay.

The upgrade process starts by asking you to make a backup and ends by asking you if you want to restore from that backup. Saying Yes to both reloads all your previous contents.
If you made a backup, but did not resttore from it, connect to iTunes, right-click on the iPad's name under Devices, select Restore from Backup. If the backup was not overwritten you may be able to save your photos.
Otherwise, everything on your iPad should always be synced to and transferred to your computer, so you can reload it thru iTunes. If you did that, just sync the iPad again.
Keeping a backup copy on another hard drive is also recommended.

Help! one problem after another!!!

I am a student graphic designer and have been working with my PB G4 for about a year and a half but recently ive noticed some strange things.
Firstly, only the left speaker works ( i dont use a case, i have a messenger bag and have been bad about getting one so im not surprised if theres internal damage from bumps here and there). Secondly, while in Illustrator CS2 the clock symbol pops up constantly when im not even doing anything or just when i move the mouse. Finally, when its in sleep mode and i open it up the screen comes on and then one second later it goes completely blue and the goes right back to normal. Very strange.
Someone told me i might have damaged the logic board and im definitely not under warrantee

Welcome to the Apple discussions.
On your sound question, click on the light switch with the apple on it, which gets you to system preferences. Click on sound, then output. Is the balance set to the left? Sometimes this just happens, where the balance moves to one side, don't know why. Reset it to center or where you want it.
Next, how much free disk space do you have? Click on the blue apple, about this mac, more info, ATA, highlight your hard drive under ATA bus, and it will show the drive capacity and what's available. You want to keep at least 10% unused so the system can use it. Less than that and your system performance goes downhill quickly.
While in the system profiler, click on memory, does it show the amount of memory you expect to have? Some PB 15" systems have a lower memory slot failure, and there's an Apple extended repair program to fix this for some PBs.
If you want to see if your logic board is working correctly, you can run the Apple hardware test. Insert the first OS X DVD that came with your system, which may say 'AHT Version x.x' in small print on the DVD, reboot holding the option key down, choose the Apple hardware test and follow directions. Choose the extended test. You can also use TechTool Deluxe or Pro if you have one of them.

Safari doesn't let me post on this website without one problem after another

OMG! Why can't safari work properly even on the apple website? It's either an error on the page or the caps button gets stuck or it enters two of every letter I type. This alone took me 15 minutes!!! iOS 8 and iPhone 6 aren't even listed in the product section.

Make sure your system software is up to date. V10.6.7 and Safari 5.0.5
Click the Apple  menu (top left in your screen) then click: Software Update ...
Also, from the Safari menu bar click Safari / Preferences then select the Security tab. Select: Show Cookies: Delete all FB cookies.
Now open Keychain Access. Select Passwords on the left. Delete the FB keychain.
Quit then relaunch Safari. Login to FB as you normally would with your user name and password. Click Yes when prompted. That will create a new keychain for you.

Embed question - play one movie after another

I am trying to figure out how to play a short 10 second clip before each movie on my website. The clip may be a short ad or a promo and will depend upon the content of the main video. What is the code that enables you to play one move after another in a web page. I don't want to edit the two clips to become one cos over time the ads and promos will change. In Realplayer I remember using SMIL but how is it done in QT. I will eventually write code to write out the Embed tag but now i am just experimenting. Here is what my drupal site puts out

Embed the initial movie clip as normal, but give it an HREF property.
Set the source for the HREF to be the next movie, set autohref=true, and set target="myself". It's the same technique you use to build a poster movie but (a) instead of having the poster movie open QT Player, you have its target open in its own frame and (b) instead of waiting for a user to click the poster, you have the poster movie "click itself".
Code that I used a very long time ago to display a "Loading..." graphic as a movie loaded (waste of effort, actually, as the movie is fast start and loads very fast):

How do i get music videos to play like the music does on my ipad, for example one right after another and shuffle

I need to know how I can get the music videos on my IPad to play like the music does. What I mean id setting up a playlist, shuffle, and have them play one right after another instead of going back to the main screen.

At the top of the playlist where it shows the playlist title and the number of songs, there are two icons. Click the "play" triangle to add the entire playlist to "Up Next", or the "shuffle" symbol to do the same thing but in random order. But the currently playing track will stop playing, and all the songs in "Up Next" will be removed (replaced by the ones from this playlist).
If you hold down the "option" key while clicking those icons, the currently playing song will continue playing, and the new playlist will be added to "Up Next" (above the songs that were already there).

Was that iTunes' safe mode as opposed to Windows' safe mode? iTunes safe mode is invoked by holding down CTRL+SHIFT immediately after clicking the icon to launch iTunes and continuing to hold until this message pops up:
Click continue, then close iTunes and reopen. With luck iTunes now opens normally every time.

ITunes won't play one song after another automatically.

I have an iMac . iTunes has always played one selection after another automatically, and I am not talking about shuffle. I downloaded an audio book (Mp3 files) which loaded into music, but I have to choose each segment manually, it won't play one segment sequentially automatically.

Are the selections un-checked? Items that are not checked will not automatically play. If they are checked, go into Get Info and see if you have the "Skip when shuffling" option set -- if it is, and if you happen to have Shuffle turned on, they won't play.

Help!! As I was scrolling through my library, one folder after another had the photos in it turn to "static"! Lots of streaks and dots! What is happening and how do I save my photos?

As I was scrolling through my Aperture library just now, I saw one folder after another turn the photos in that folder into garbage! They have lines and dots and nothing recognizable - what in the world is causing this? Can I get my photos back? It almost looks like a virus eating my files - could it be - and if it is - is my entire computer in trouble? HELP HELP HELP!

Interesting that you posted this Cleaning up photo library about one hour before this post. I'd say there is a good possibility they are related.
Without knowing your system, OS version and Aperture version and what you were doing to 'clean up' your library there is little we can do.
My photo library is a mess. I have moved things around a lot in a futile attempt to organize them, now I have a lot of placeholders with no files attached. How do I clean things up?
I suggest you restore from your backup and forgo the cleaning operation until you have a better grasp of the situation.
BTW the Masters folder is organized by date and time of import at least in Aperture 3, if you are using 2 then all bets are off,

If you are unable to restore your iPhone with iTunes without having to enter the passcode, you will not be able to update your iPhone's backup. You will need to place the iPhone into recovery mode in order to restore the iPhone with iTunes and you can restore from the most recent backup available.

Load one swf after another?

Hey!
I've created a presentation in Flash that exceeds the maximum number of frames. I broke it up into a few different files, and now I need these .swfs to load one after another automatically, without prompting or clicking anything on the screen.
The presentation is for an interpretation program at work and will be played for an audience several times a day. It was originally a 6-slide-projector presentation that I simplified, and this is the last step to replacing the old projection system altogether.
Does anyone know how to solve my problem, as simply as possible?

you'll probably want to load them all at the start of you presentation so they're ready for display without waiting.
so, use standard preloader code to load your swfs. use a loop or dispatch an event to detect when one ends and another needs to start.

Start one job after another complets using PL/SQL procedure and DBMS_JOB

All,
I am attempting to refresh a materialized view using DBMS_JOB and having a PL/SQL program loop through each materialized view name that resides in a table I created. We do the table because they have to be refreshed in a specific order and I utilize the ORDER_OF_REFRESH column to dictate which MV comes first, second, third, etc.
Now - I have this working to the extent that it kicks off 4 materialized views (currently set the procedure to only do 4 MVs for testing purposes) but I would ultimately like the procedure to create a new DBMS_JOB that calls DBMS_MVIEW.REFRESH of the next view in line ONLY after the preceeding materialized view DBMS_JOB completes.
The purpose of all of this is to do a few things. One - if I simply create a procedure with the DBMS_MVIEW.REFRESH call to each materialized view in order - that works but if one fails, the job starts over again and will up to 16 times - BIG PROBLEM. Secondly, we want the job that will call this procedure to fail if it encounters 2 failures on any one materialized view (because some MVs may be dependant upon that data and cannot use old stale data).
This may not be the "best" approach but I am trying to make the job self-sufficient in that it knows when to fail or not, and doesn't kick off the materialized views jobs all at once (remember - they need to start one after the other - in order).
As you can see near the bottom, my logic doesn't work quite right. It kicks off all four jobs at once with the date of the whatever LAST_REFRESH is in my cursor (which ultimately is from the prior day. What I would like to happen is this:
1.) 1st MV kicks off as DBMS_JOB and completes
2.) 2nd MV kicks off with a start time of 3 seconds after the completion of 1st MV (based off LAST_REFRESH) date.
3.) This conitnues until all MVs are refresh or until 2 failures are encountered, in which no more jobs are scheduled.
- Obviously I am having a little bit of trouble with #2 and #3 - any help is appreciated.

Next, I have a "new" procedure that does the job creation and refresh show just below this which, when starting the loop, sets the LAST_REFRESH date in my table to NULL and the STATUS = 'INVALID'. Then if the order of refresh = 1 then it uses SYSDATE to submit the job and start right away, else if it's not the first job, it uses V_NEXT_DATE. Now, V_NEXT_DATE is equal to the LAST_REFRESH date from my table when the view has completed and the V_PREV_STATUS = 'VALID'. I think tack on 2 seconds to that to begin my next job.... My problem is that it doesn't appear to be looping to the next job. It worked succesfully on the first job but not the subsequent jobs (or materialized views in this case).... Any ideas?
