One scratch disk - 2 macs - can't open projects

I cut a bunch if projects on my macbook using a g-raid 500 gig HD as my scratch disk. Firewire.
Now, I've transfered all the files/info off my macbook to my iMac. The mac-to-mac firewire transfer. I've been over seas in Afghanistan on deployment...now I want to work on my home computer.
I digress. Hooked up the g-raid to my iMac, tried to open a project and got this: "File error: Access denied"
I thought everything should work being that all the settings, everything, was transfered off my macbook to the iMac. I want to use that g-raid HD as a scratch disk on both computers.
All help is welcomed. Thank you.

When I hit the drop down arrow to "sharing permissions," it gives me 3 options -- (1) my name, "read and write, or, read only...(2) "no access" and the same options...(3) "everyone" the same options, plus "no access."
So frustrating. Seems like I should just be able to plug and chug with the hard drive. All the settings on my macbook and imac should be identicle. The project loads on my macbook. I'm pulling my fricking hair out here.
For what it's worth, it's a shoot of a memorial ceremony I shot in Afghanistan. One of my closest friends was killed in action. I'm responsible for cutting the package and personally delivering it to his family, and I can't even get the frickin' thing to jive with my imac.

Hello, I have transferred my Acrobat XI Pro from old MAC to the new one. After the transfer can not open any PDF file. Any idea how to solve this?

    Hey ilyaz20360341,
Could you please specify how exactly did you transfer Acrobat from one MAC to other.
You might need to deactivate the software from your old machine and then activate it on the new one with the same serial number (for Acrobat license) or Adobe credentials (for Acrobat subscription).
If you have done the same way, then let me know if you are able to open Acrobat itself.
Do you get any specific error message while opening a PDF?
    Hope to get your response.

I have a new Mac and I migrated mi old one to this. I can not open iTunes because a message stating "iTunes Library.itl" can not be opened because it was created in more recent version of iTunes. There is not a new version to download. How can I fix this?

Go to iTunes > about iTunes.  What version are you running?  If necessary, hold down the option key while starting iTunes and create a new, test library so it will start.

I have a G5 mac using ver 10.4.11 and a newer mac using ver 10.8.4 these are networked. using the new mac i looked up my my photo on the old mac. It then said you need to upgrade your library which it did. Now the old mac can not open the photos and say that I need to upgrade my I photo to a newer version. The old mac has no more support from apple in software update so I am not sure where I should go from here. can I use new soft ware with the old mac

The other part of the upgrade message was a warning that once you upgraded you would no longer be able to open the library with the old version which is exaclty what you did and what happened when you choose to continue
The iphoto library needs to be upgraded to work with this version of iPhoto. Your photo library will not be readable by previous versions of iphoto after the upgrade. The upgrade process may take several minutes depending on the number of photos in the library. Cancel or upgrade.
So now your choices are to not use iPhoto with the previous version using it onky with the newer version, restore your backup from before you did this upgrade or purchase iPhoto Library Manager and use it to rebuild the library using the older version of iPhoto (instructions are on their web site) thereby downgrading it (without projects)

just got a Nikon D610 and CS5 for Mac can't open the images -- message says installed version of camera raw doesn't support the camera.  Downloaded the Raw 6.2 update for Mac, but installation failed. Now what?

The D610 didn't get out-of-the-box RAW support until Photoshop CC.
You can either upgrade to CC or use the DNG Converter to convert and open your DNGs in CS5.

There is no such thing as CS8 but CS5 cannot open any INDD file created in a later version. You’ll need to get an IDML file.

I wanted to erase my file, cause I hv about 65 G in my user disk, but I can't open my file. need help

The advice you've received previously seems pretty solid, so let's troubleshoot the problem.

PLease help tech unsavvy struggler. After a grey screen and damaged HD that will not repair I was advised to copy my HD and Leopard installation to a new drive, then erase the HD and reinstall. But now can't open anything as my password wont work anymore.
Let's concentrate on this portion of text only.
Gray screen: usually means non-woriking or uninstalled HD
Won't repair: makes perfect sense, since you no longer have access to HD
Advised to copy HD and Leopard installation to a new drive, then erase the HD and reinstall: This is the most important text. It seems you don't use a backup drive. And since your HD is damaged/not working, you need to do the following: (1) remove the faulty drive, (2) install the new drive, (3) when you turn on your MBP, you may need to erase the newly installed HD, and this is where you have the problems. Describe, in detail, what's happening on your MBP screen. Is it still gray? What message are you getting? Where is it asking you for a password, and when?
I'm intereste: since your MBP drive is dead, how are you accessing this forum?

  • Can't open Project Professional 2013 projects in SharePoint 2013

    I can't open Project 2013 documents from SharePoint2013.
    My environment is:
    Project Professional 2013 32 bit
    Office Professional 2013 32 bit
    IE 9 32 bit
    Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit
All other documents (Word, Excel) can be checked out and edited from SharePoint.
When I check out and edit a Project document I get the following error:
         Project cannot open the file.
check that the file name a path are correct.
check that the file format is recognized by Project.
Also, I get the same error when trying to open a project document from a mapped SharePoint drive.
Note:  This was working on a fresh install of Office 2013 and Project Professional 2013 UNTIL a windows update (Office 2013 SP 1 and other updates)
    Am I missing an update?
    Thanks!

    Hi Ken,
I would try first to repair MS Project from the control panel to see if it fixes your issue.
    Hope this helps,

  • Old Logic + a new Mac = can't open old projects anymore. De/re-install?

    Hi everybody,
maybe someone can advise me with this problem:
I bought a new Mac recently, did install a fresh OSX 10.5 and then used migration assistant to transfer my old user account from my old Mac (10.4), incl. all files. It did take a night, but it worked - or so I thought. Actually all applications work as they should, except for Logic. I had to re-authorize a few plug-ins, but then all seemed to be cool. I can open a new project, record audio, midi, add plug-ins, all cool. But I ended up with 3 problems, which are really annoying:
    1) EXS24 couldn't find most of the samples anymore. Most, not all. I have 4 internal HDs, one for the system, one for audio recordings, one for samples, one for "other stuff". 2 of these disks came from the old Mac, 2 new ones, content copied from old Mac. In the EXS prefs I set "search for samples" to "all volumes", but it still didn't work perfectly. Finally I bought EXSManager Pro and now it seems to work again. I didn't try ALL samples yet, but the +/- 20 EXS instruments I tried, did load all samples.
    2) Space Designer doesn't load impulse responses for the presets anymore. They're there and at the right place. I can load SD and import an existing impulse file, no problem. But the presets don't find the required files anymore.
    3) Now - and this is the worst one - I can't open old projects anymore. I just can't. It starts loading, I see the rainbow thing (don't know the right word), it turns black & white and that's it. You can watch this forever and nothing happens.
    Regarding all 3 issues:
I don't get any error messages. Logic doesn't crash, I can't click 'apple-.' to stop loading/searching. It just doesn't open the file. I had a coffee, a pizza, I let it try for 2 hrs+, but neither did it load a SD preset or an old song file. All I can do is manually quit Logic.
But when I open Logic with the CTRL-button down and click "no" to core audio I can open all songs. Of course I can not hear a tone then, but it's all there. Opening a song takes 3 secs then. I tried to safe a song then with a different name, re-started Logic with core audio but same result. It get's "stuck".
Of course I checked user permissions and all the usual trouble shooting clicks, but still Logic has a mind of it's own. I installed a 2nd user with admin rights, though still the same, plus all the 3rd party plug-ins refusing to work.
Now I was thinking, should I de-install Logic and re-install from the original CDs maybe. And if so, is there anything special I have to take care of? Like manually removing any prefs or cache files?
Or completely re-install the whole Mac? (pleeease no....)...
If anybody has any idea, it'd be highly appreciated.
Thank you in advance and for the energy to read my little novel here,
    cheers,
    Joern

Ok, either my question was too long or nobody seems to have an answer. Sad, either way
Here's something I found out in the meantime, maybe this is interesting for somebody or maybe - problem's not totally solved - enough info for any of you to give me further advice.
When I start Logic Core Audio driver de-activated, I can open old songs. Then I save them in a new folder with all audio files and a new name. And I remove all EXS24 instruments as well as the Space Designer. I quit Logic, re-open with Core Audio activated and I can open the song.
Problem no.1: EXS24 instruments don't find the appropriate samples, but EXSMananger Pro did help me with this. Same problem with Space Designer, which doesn't find the impulse responses, connected to a certain preset.
Two questions, every idea would be great!
    - Is there any way to teach Space Designer Presets where to look for impulse respones. I can load IR samples directly and create a new preset, but I can't use my old ones.
    - Is it possible to install Logic from scratch over an existing version? Or how should I de-install everything connected with Logic and then install a fresh version from CD?
    Thank you again,
    Joern

  • Reassigned scratch disk--now, PS won't open!!!

I have a Power Mac G4 (AGP) with two hard drives running Tiger. I installed CS4 and everything was fine until I started fiddling around in Photoshop and changed the scratch disk from disk 1 (10G start disk) to disk 2 (80G). All my applications are installed on disk 2 because it has more space. Now, I am unable to open Photoshop. Message reads, "Could not open a scratch file because the disk is not available."
I uninstalled and re-installed PS, but got the same message. I moved PS to disk 1, but same message persists and I am unable to open PS. If somehow I could open the program, I could change the scratch disk back to its original position. Can someone please help? Thank you for any assistance.
    blooskeye

You will need to trash Photoshop's Prefs. because your current ones are designating a Scratch Disk that is no longer available.
Hold down Cmd Option Shift while launching Photoshp; and chose to "Delete Settings" when asked.
Once Photoshop has launched, reset your Prefs including the ones concerning the Scratch Disk.
    >I moved PS to disk 1
That unfortunately was a major error.
You need to leave CS4 applications where they are installed by default.
You will now need to use the UN-Installer to uninstall CS4 and then re-install it from your DVD.

  • Snow Leopard & Photoshop CS4: Scratch Disk Error (app won't open)

Snow Leopard and Photoshop CS4 have at least one incompatibility worth noting thus far. If you have a secondary disc on your system that is setup to be your primary scratch disk in Photoshop's Preferences you might be unable to open your application.
In order to fix that, go to Macintosh HD/Users/YOUR_ACCOUNT/Library/Preferences/Adobe Photoshop CS4 Settings/ and remove the Adobe Photoshop CS4 Prefs.psp file
    Then Photoshop will open.
NOTE: You must leave your Macintosh HD as your primary scratch disk in Photoshop's preferences until Adobe fixes this issue.

    HI Chris,
We are having significant problems with CS4 crashng and not saving work after it has been completed and saved onto our server. I would rather not re-format my machine. Any ideas?

I purchased a new imac (4G, OS X 10.6.8) in Feb 2011 and thought my old iPhoto library transferred over. It wasn't. And I can't get iPhoto to open on my old mac. It says, "can't open your current version of iPhoto using this version of iPhoto. You have made changes to your photo library using a newer version of iPhoto. Please quit and use the latest version of iPhoto". I don't think my old mac will support the newer version of iPhoto so I feel like I'm stuck (this is why I got a new mac -- cheaper than upgrading all my software, etc). Help! I really need to get to my old photos, and no, they are not backed up anywhere. Thanks.

    You have two options:
Run the Library on a machine that has the same version as the machine that was stolen.
    or
Recover the files from this library and start over from scratch.
    To recover the files:
Go to your Pictures Folder (or whereever you have the back up) and find the iPhoto Library there. Right (or Control-) Click on the icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. A finder window will open with the Library exposed.
Your originals are in the Masters folder.
Note this will only recover your photos as imported from you camera.

  • Problem with Scratch Disk - CS4 - Mac

Under project settings, scratch disks, I have set everything to a folder on my external drive, and it shows me for each item that there is 1TB of space available.  I am attempting to capture from my Panasonic camera.   As soon as I start capturing, it shows me I only have 27.2MB of space available!  This doesn't make any sense at all, and is not even enough space to capture this half-hour of footage; the capture keeps dropping frames and will only capture about 10 min of film.
I don't understand this program.  Every time I capture video it seems to take up an unbelievably HUGE amount of space on my internal hard-drive.  I have deleted everything I can find to delete on my internal drive, and deleted the trash as well, and it does show that I have 15 gigs available internally, but Premiere just can't seem to find enough space.
WHY, when I'm giving it 1 terabyte of space to use, does it tell me I only have 27MB of space available??  This should have taken me only half an hour to capture (I did one earlier that was just fine, but that seems to have taken the last bit of space available) and instead I have wasted the past 4 hours trying to figure this out.
    Please help!!!

OMG - even tried rebooting my computer to clear RAM etc... and STILL it is showing me "Remaining disk space: 27.22 MB."  I just cannot figure this out!  And why did it capture just fine prior to trying this one (can't remember how much disk space it was showing me then, but I recall it was a lot more than 2 megabytes)?  I didn't change any settings...
The program will only capture 9min ~25sec, then it says something like "unexpected recorder error" and stops the capture.
I really need to be able to capture this stuff - HELP, please???!!!
