One set of earbuds/earpods has one louder earbud (left) and my other pair/set is normal sounding

so recently i bought both an ipod touch (5th generation) and an iphone 5s, but i had my ipod touch just a little bit before i got an iphone 5. right when i started listening to my ipod touch i noticed that one earbud (left one) seemed to be louder than the other one (right), so i took it back to the store. i got them replaced with another pair and it didnt seem to help much but i just let it go for awhile. then, a little while after that i got a new phone which happened to be the iphone 5s which comes with the exact same kind/type of earbuds that the ipod touch comes with. so i thought maybe id try those earbuds (ones that came with iphone) out with my ipod touch to see if there would be any difference and i did notice a difference right away. the difference is very noticeable and significant and im puzzled by this. the pair that came with the iphone 5s seems to be MUCH more normal sounding than both of the ones i had for my ipod touch (the original ones that came with the ipod touch and then the ones that replaced them from the store). can anyone offer some insight for this problem?

If you have problem with all headphones that indicates a problem with the iPod.
- Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
- Check also Settings > General > Accessibility > Hearing. Make sure that the sound balance is not set all the way to "R".
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack or other hardware problem.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
You could also just compensated by the setting on the iPod.
If it only happens with certain headphones then that indicates a headphone problem, There is always some tolerance/difference between L and R of the headphones. One source is also dirty earpieces
How do I clean my EarPods effectively and without damaging the surface nor using the shirt method?
Otherwise it is a hardware problem wit the earphones.
