One SkyDrive client only, please

I am an avid SkyDrive user. I pay a large annual fee, along with having bought a tablet I knew I would never use, to get a very large SkyDrive. I love it - it works great. Right up until I installed Office.
The Office SkyDrive integration SUCKS. While all other file types are flawlessly sync'd by the SkyDrive client in Windows, Office tries to handle it itself. I am *constantly* getting error messages that some file or another didn't sync, and that I should
"open it in office" to find out why. Ugh.
Please, Microsoft: get rid of the SkyDrive integration into Office! I don't need it! The desktop client works *great*. I'm very tempted to write a script to automatically change the extension of office documents every time I close them so that they'll just
use the *regular*, *reliable* drive client.
I've gotten to the office this morning to continue work on a document that I spent a couple of days working on at home. There were a ton of PDF files that I was marking up and whatnot. Those all saved and sync'd flawlessly. The actual document, though, says
"SAVE AGAIN: We need to refresh your file with updates. Click Save to try again". What he hell? Three problems:
1. If there's a sync problem, just sync the $%*# thing - why do I have to open the file and click a button? What a huge waste of time!
2. If the file is on my computer, and I've *just opened it*, why would "saving" it do anything at all? It seems this new client is trying to impose a new mental model of the file system, but isn't doing a very good job.
3. If there are updates on some other server, wouldn't hitting "Save" wipe them out? See #2 re new mental model of the disk.
Office team: I get that you wanted to "play too" in the cloud space. But, for the love of all things, if you don't rely on your operating system to operate the disk, what the heck are you trying to turn office into? What's next, managing the heap?

I spoke with Apple Support this morning and they believe anything MobileMe related is due to the conversion over to iCloud that's taking place.
As for other email clients, check with your host to see if settings have changed on their end. I use inmotionhosting.com and over the weekend the updated their outgoing requirements so that a password authentication is now needed.

There used to be a 'buy all' button on the wish list screen but for some reason that has been removed from the current version of iTunes so you will need to buy each item individually. Sorry, iPhones exposed to Salt Water, are pretty much destroyed. Salt Water is one of the most corrosive elements there is.

We have 10 Client Nodes in the field and we need two "View Only" functionality in Client machines located on Supervisory Desks.

I have done this. There are many ways to approach this but I will offer what I think is the easiest. This will work ONLY if you have been assigning security levels to your objects (objects that actually control devices in the field) greater than zero AND allowing a security level of zero to view all panels. When I develop interfaces I do this just for creating a non control client.
Basically, you remove all users from the Lookout client in the user manager. You will not be able to remove the built-ins, "Guest" and "Administrator". Now when the end users tries to login using his normal login he will be denied. Consequently, he will not be able to control. But, he will still be able to view all the information since a no login can view a panel with a viewing se
curity level of zero. You must ensure any pushbuttons that are used to open panels have a security level of zero.
Now you can copy this security profile by finding the lookout.sec file and copying it to another non-control client computer. In Windows NT this file is located in the system32 directory.
There are many other ways but I find this the easiest.

Since upgrade to Windows 8.1 RTM Skydrive client keep crashing

Recently i found out that my files in the skydrive folder Inside the Windows Explorer are not accessible anymore.
When i try to open an online only file from there, a download dialog box open and stay at 0%...

When an application (like SkyDrive) crashes, Windows Error Reporting Service [1] creates a dmp file under C:\Localdumps. Please upload the dump (zip it first) to your public Skydrive [2] folder and post the link here. I take a look at the dump with the Debugger,
maybe I can see the cause.

2 Client of ECC pointing to one BI Client

Hi, I have a requirement at BMW Inc to test the unconsolidated FI data from ONE ECC CLIENT
in QA System and then I have a Consolidated FI Data from another ECC Client in Quality system. Can I HAVE ONE BI system to receive the data from both ecc clients and put two cube (One for cnsolidated and One for Uncolidated Data ) in one BI system. Or should I have to have the TWO BI Client. This is only for testing system and not for production. please reply soon

     you can connect N number of one source system clients to BI.
Reporting and Validation of data would be very easy if follow these steps.
     1. Create Multicube on top of 2 cubes.
     2. 2 cubes should contains same number of charecterstics, Same technical Names.
     3. Key figures technical name should be different but technical both should be same( I mean create new keyfigure with Template).
If you want load Data not for Validation purpose, you can load only one cube. No need of another one.

RMI Server issuing commands to clients - help please

I am trying to setup 2 clients to respond when an RMI server sends them a message, however I have never done any distributed programming before.
Can anyone please post up some classes which show how to have a client listening and a server connecting to them in order to activate a method. I would be extremely grateful. If anyone knows of a web site or another similar resource with an example like this that would also be much appreciated...

What you mean to say really, is that a process can be ASKED for some resource (then it would be acting like a "server") or it can ASK for a resource (it would be acting like a "client"). Please note that i said it ACTS like something. It is not the same thing as it REALLY BEING that thing substantially. What i'm driving at is that when you design an app, objects that make it up take dual roles at THAT LEVEL of their own operation, but universally (when you look at the ENTIRE app), things cannot switch around like that anytime they want. An RMI Server is just that: A server. Clients connect to it, and there's no reason for the server to want to connect to a client of its own volition. When you start doing that, you're messing around with WHAT IT MEANS to implement client/server arch.....For instance, the objects that make up of that talk to bound remote objects on the server, CAN act out this dual role: but not when you have a bird's eye view of the entire app.
Its bad design. Its bad practise.

How to set time zone for a session in Client Only installation

Environment:
OS : Unix (HP-UX 11.0)
Oracle DB : Ver 8.0.5
Developer : Ver 1.6 ( Client only Installation)
Developer also on Unix.
RDBMS and Developer Installed on different
home directories.
Our development is Forms 4.5 on X windows.
Runtime is forms character mode.
Probelm Description:
To run the application I am using TWO_TASK to connect to the database. In our application we have to take care of time zones. For that in previous versions(NO TWO_TASK used) I used TZ unix environment variable, to get time zone dependent time wherever sysdate is used.
Now because I am using TWO_TASK, oracle is no more using users TZ settings.
Question : Is there any way I can make oracle to use the TZ environment setting

What you are referring to is adding a city. I need to know how to set the time zone in settings -> Date & Time -> Timezone. Unless & untill this is set properly the iPod will never show me the right time. Please help me with it.

I am doing the scenario File to IDoc ,picking the .CSV file from the FTP server .
The problem is that the file is picking fine from FTP ,but getting an error in SXMB_MONI as : Messages in multi message format can be sent to one adapter engine only. What could be the reason and how to rectify it . Please provide me the solution ASAP.

Yes, I'm afraid that is true. Sorry about that. Please don't shoot the messenger. If you don't like this approach taken by Oracle you need to raise this as a service request and ask if this can be added as an enhancement request.

Time capsule dropped signal - use as client only?

Hi all -
A two part question/dilema if you can bare with me. Trying to learn/understand as well as get myself the best setup.
My TC is nearly 3 yrs old and has always been my router and backup, no problems. I moved and in the new house find that the TC was dropping the internet signal to my computer. I had optimum come out twice to check the signal to the house and it was fine. The TC sits in a wood tv cabinet and there are two basic house walls btwn the TC and computer. Interference should be nill.
I have an airport express in the same room as the TC for airplay. This worked fine. One day i moved it from say 5 feet away into another room, 25 feet away, and found the airplay would not function. When i moved it back closer to the TC worked great on again. It seems anything 20 feet away the airplay stops working.
What are the odds that my TC has lost signal strength over the years and/or has a glitch and drops its broadcast signal? Or is there a chance a setting is wrong that is causing a weak signal between the devices..... my computer for internet and the express for airplay? Even without an internet signal from outside shouldn't these two devices be super fast speaking to each other on my home internal network without flaw? Can i test this?
For the second part of my inquiry, if i get a 3rd party router to be the main source of wireless:
1. Can i hook up the TC to "strengthen" the 3rd party signal without interfering? My fear is that if TC broadcasts i'll run into the same weak/dropped signals on devices that hook up to it overe the 3rd party.
2. Can i make the TC a non-broadcasting "client" only unit for backups only?
3. Can my airport express "extend" my 3rd party network without worry of weaking the signal? Or am i better off using "client" only if i know the 3rd party provides a strong and clear wireless signal?
thanks very much in advance. I went from never dropping an internet signal to now losing the internet and having airplay working only when TC and airport express are 5 feet from each other. this can't be right, not for apple products!

Wi-Fi devices don't degrade in the manner you describe. I'd blame a difference between your old and new houses.
What Wi-Fi band are your clients (and the AirPort Express) using to connect? If they're using the 5 GHz band, selecting one of the higher-numbered channels (149 and up) can significantly increase the broadcast power. I'd also select "Use wide channels" in the "Wireless Network Options" panel.
I suspect that the problems you're seeing are due to too weak a signal. You can investigate the signal and noise level that each of your devices is seeing using the advice in the second message of this thread.
I won't try to answer your question about third-party routers, as I have little experience with them.

One mail client's outgoing messages flagged as SPAM

I have a new problem that has cropped up. Our company is multi-location. 8 of our locations are able to relay outgoing mail through our mail server with no problems whatsoever. Since upgrading clamav, amavisd-new and spamassassin (thanks topicdesk.com!), I have one remote client for whom every outgoing message is flagged as Spam by spamassassin and bounced. The only major difference in this location is that it's running a new Intel iMac with Snow Leopard. All the other clients are PPC's with Leopard.

As it turns out, the problem was with the router configuration. Instead of having the computer on a private network behind the router, the computer was given the public IP address. I'm not sure how this relates to how the message and its header are interpreted by spamassassin, but reconfiguring the network and using NAT to allow incoming traffic to the computer seems to have resolved the problem.
I would love for someone who knows about this stuff to respond, although technically my problem is resolved.
