One track of Audio in the timeline

I am only getting one track of audio in the timeline when I drag my clip from the viewer. In the viewer the audio is in stero, but when I drag it to the timeline it only one channel. Is there a setting that I change to get two channel of audio in the timeline?
Thanks for the help

Right (or control + click) over in the patching bay at the left of the timeline and see if it sees both a1 and a2. Assign the one you can't see to a patch and that might bring it back.

    Thanks for the update.
There are several Adobe Premiere Elements Forum threads about situation such as the one that you have encountered. Typically they are the results of some heavy activity in the narration track.  Some have found success in maneuvers between the Expert and Quick workspaces in versions 11 and 12 or Timeline and Sceneline workspaces in versions earlier than 11. That is why I mentioned that type of factor in a prior post in your thread.
If that is not working, then we are forced into the new project where the problems in the current project are not presenting.
I will do a search for the threads that I am recalling about your type of issue. But, right now all roads seem to head to the new project. But I would ask "Can you salvage this project by creating your narration clips in Audacity or a new Premiere Elements project and import them into this project, putting the clips on one of the numbered audio tracks?"
If the problem should reappear in the new project, please let us know including the details of what was going on immediate before the problem surfaced.
    Thanks.

  • Encore 1.5 -problem getting audio on the timeline

hi - newbie question!!!- i am trying to add audio to my mpeg2 video clip on the timeline in encore 1.5 - i believe you drag and drop the asset from the projects tab into the timeline but when i open the timeline and click the projects tab the timeline dissapears so i am unable to drop audio into the timeline.
is there any way of ensuring both tabs are open at the same time to allow this ?

What workspace do you have set up?
In our installation of Encore 1.5 it is perfectly possible to have the project assets list and a timeline both open at the same time.

In Premier Pro CC How do I get audio into the timeline?

Did you make a sequence to fill the timeline first.
Quick way to do this is to do this:

  • How do I slip audio in the timeline?

I'm trying to replace some bad audio with audio recorded on a separate digital recorder. I'm using the bad audio as a guide track to sync the replacement audio. How can I slip the new audio accurately to match the bad audio. In other words, is there a way to slip the replacement audio track in the timeline with frame or sub-frame accuracy? Thanks for the help.

Thanks, guys. I think the info will help. I was syncing by zooming in on the waveform and slipping it by hand by grabbing the audio clip till it synced up. Keyboard controls will make it easier.
One more question: Once the audio is in sync, how do I use the "mark in sync" command in the "Modify" menu to lock the sync. Right now it's greyed out. I've tried highlighting the new audio track, but can't seem to get the mark in sync to light up. Thanks again.

  • How do I link audio in the timeline?

My source audio is stereo mix but in the timeline each track is represented as if it were mono. It's just a bit annoying since every time I add an effect to one track I have to do it do the other. Is there a way to link the audio? What caused the audio to get unlinked in the first place?

    To create a stereo pair:
1 Select a pair of mono audio clip items in the Timeline. (Use the Command key to select the second item, if necessary.) If you click one item of a linked pair, the other item is also selected.
2 Choose Modify > Stereo Pair (or press Option-L).
The stereo pair indicators appear on the selected clip items in the Timeline.
If the clip items you want to make into a stereo pair have different durations, the clip items are trimmed to the region where they both overlap. The levels, pan settings, and filters that were applied to the top clip are applied to both, and the clip attributes from the bottom clip are ignored.

Make sure the button for stereo pair is active in Log & Capture's Clip Settings:

  • How do I restore my video/audio in the Timeline of my project?

The whole timeline has windows that are red that say Media Offline.  Where did my video/audio go??
Where do I find it?  How do I restore it into the timeline I was working on with the project.  When I open the project I also get a question that wants to know where is a specific file pertaining to this project.

Or, was it on a DVD, that you Imported directly, and now that DVD is not in the drive/burner?
When media is listed as Off-line, just as Steve mentions, the link between the Project file (.PREL) has been broken. This can happen, when one Moves files, Renames files, or those files are, for some other reason, not where the program last saw them. This ARTICLE will give you a bit more background on the .PREL files, plus some tips on Save/Save_As, etc.
Usually, one gets warning messages, and PrE will help you locate your files. It does a good job of this. Did you get any messages, when you Opened this Project? Did you Move, or Rename any media files?
    Good luck,

  • No Audio in the timeline and no sound as well using CS4

We have installed CS4 Premiere Pro. When we imported a video clip, there was an error message "audio conforming error". the image part showed up but there was nothing (no sound, no wave length on the timeline). We can work on this video file on CS3 version on the other computer. Please help.

    Kevin,
It has been suggested by several, that the workaround that you mention, no longer works with CS4. I do not have it, so I cannot check the validity of those suggestions.
Still, when faced with material that proves problematic for PrPro (any version) to handle, one can most often find a way to convert that material to something that WILL work better. Sometimes there is a quality hit, but this has often taken place BEFORE the conversion.
To borrow on Harm's example and to paraphrase, if faced with the prospect of trying to drive a screw with a hammer, if one replaces the screw with a nail, things will likely go much more smoothly. Now, in so doing, the connection made with the nail will likely not be a good, or as strong, as with the screw, but will often work. That's what the conversion does.
The Premiere-wiki has many good suggestions for conversion techniques and programs. There is even one for Converting AC3 Audio.

[Edit] Oops, Eddie has already posted the wiki links much earlier in the post.

  • Can takes from more than one track be comped at the same time?

    Greetings,
I know that this question has been asked recently in this forum (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=9527542&#9527542), but I don't think that the respondents completely understood the question... Or perhaps I did not understand the suggested solutions to the problem. I will ask the question in a slightly different way...
Suppose that I record guitar with 2 microphones (a pickup mic, and a room mic). The first microphone is recorded onto track 1, the second microphone is recorded onto track 2. Multiple takes are done in this manner. When it comes time to comp the tracks, how is it done? Can the takes from more than one track be comped together at the same time? I have tried to do this by grouping both tracks together, but it does not work.
    Any suggestions?
    Thank you.

You had the right idea grouping the tracks together. You must make sure that in the group settings, the box titled "region selection (edit)" is checked. This will allow you to make the same cuts (or in this case, swipes) on all regions in the group.

  • Dragging audio into the timeline

hello, when I drag a loop from the loop library into a timeline in garageband, the loop will automatically play back at the tempo set up for the project, my question is will a file that is not from the loop library, either a third party loop or an audio file that I create also conform to the tempo set for the project, if I drag it into the timeline. thank you rb

If you drag an external file into the timeline, it will be an orange region and will not follow tempo changes. To achieve that, you have to turn it into a purple region (press control-option-g and click anywhere in the timeline) and check the box "follow pitch & tempo".

  • When I perform a split audio edit, the timeline doesn't show it when the clips are collapsed!

Especially the clip whose audio is 'covering' another... the timeline doesn't show it's audio as extending, and it would appear only that the clip for which audio has been shortened, is still there, or at "0"... what gives? If you uncollapse the audio, or detach it, you do, once again, see the split audio.
    Thanks

Like Zambonisurfer suggested, this is so by design.

  • Make an "tracks export audio" in the middle of an arrange

    Hi all,
My problem is the following :
When you're doing an export or a freeze of several tracks, it begins at the 1rst cursor, and stop at the end's cursor. For the final cursor, I'm going in the transport and tape the bar number wanted. But how to do the same thing with 1rst cursor ?
Example : I want only export parts between bar 50 and 100.
I tape "100" in the transport (under the tempo), but how to place directly the first cursor at bar "50"?
    Thanks for your help.
    Did.

    Thanks for replying Jim.
In fact, I don't want to use the bounce because I need separates tracks (to mix in another station). Then boucing means export track after track...
If I can't change the start cursor, the last solution seems to be this :
make a cut from 0 to 50 so that 50 is at the begining of the song, "export region as audio file", and then undoing the change...
For beeing more clear of what I'm saying :
I'm working on a 26' film. When the arrange is finished, I export all tracks in audio to be mixed in protools. Here, I'm using "Export Region as Audio File", and all is OK.
After the mix finished in protools, I have to change something in the film. So, I don't to import another time all audio files in protools (to much time lost), but only the part which are changed...don't know if I'm understandable
    Thanks for your help,
    Did.

  • Adding an S track for subtitles in the timeline

I have a Mac OS X 10.4 and am working with the Final Cut Pro 5 studio. I am trying to add subtitles and cannot figure out how to put in an S track that the manual says I need to have before I put in the text. Must I switch to DVD Studio Pro before I can put it in? And then how do I create the S track? Thank you.

I realized I needed to open DVD Studio Pro and work in that program. Once I did that, my question was answered.

  • Drag select audio tracks to the timeline

I have several clips I will be adding to the timeline that have 4 audio tracks. I only want the first audio track to go to the timeline. How do I do this?

Disconnect the connectors for the other tracks on the timeline...on the left side.  You will need to load the clip into the Viewer first.
