One way calendar sync

My Isync will sync events from Ical to my Palm Treo 650 but not the other way around. In fact if I enter an event directly into the Treo, syncing will make it disappear if there is no entry in Ical. All other syncs work ok. Any suggestions?

Are you sure that you are observing and interpreting this activity properly?
The iSync Palm Conduit places all event and tasks created on a Palm device in a single, separate calendar named—by default—Unfiled. You will not find Palm created data in the 'matching' calendars in iCal, if you are using iSync. If you have no Unfiled calendar, or have not assigned such entries to a single specific calendar in the drop-down configuration pane in iSync, then they will not transfer or appear.
Calendar category and color support for advanced Palm devices and iCal is available to users of the Missing Sync for Palm OS.

Hmmm...OK, then the only thing I can think of is a clean start over...
I suggest the following steps (insert plenty of reboots of your PC...not just restarts, but full power down reboots). Also, it is advised that you be logged into the PC on an account with full admin rights. Further, under Vista/Win7, use the "Run As Administrator" option for everything.
    1) Remove your device OS update package from your PC (add/remove programs)
    2) Cleanly uninstall the RIM DTM software:
KB02206 How to perform a clean uninstall of BlackBerry Desktop Software
Some have reported that there are more registry keys to remove than are discussed in that KB
Others have reported the use of a registry cleansing tool to also be helpful
    3) Get a fresh download of the RIM DTM software:
    https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code=A8BAA56554F96369AB93E4F3BB068C22
Choose the version that is newest and (if applicable) compatible with your PIM (if you are synchronizing via USB):
KB12268 Applications supported by BlackBerry Desktop Manager for synchronization
    4) Download (to your PC) a fresh copy of your device OS package from your carrier:
    http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
    5) Install DTM to your PC
    6) Install (also to your PC), the device OS package
    7) Start the organizer configuration over:
KB17022 How to configure organizer applications for synchronization using BlackBerry Desktop Manager
Hopefully that will get things going again.

  • One-way Google sync

    Hi,
is there a way to do a one-way sync of my address book with my Google contacts (from AB to Google)? I don't want Google messing with my AB contacts, I just need them to be in Google Mail.

Syncing AB contacts with Google has been a disaster for me! If there were some way you could ONLY go in ONE DIRECTION (AB to Google Contacts) things might work better. I find that using this sync, three problems occur:
    1) loss of contacts
    2) loss of contact group
    3) loss of picture
    4) loss of the entire contact!
    5) address gets duplicated in two address 'fields' when it syncs back from Google to AB; and, in the second address field, the zip code ends up in the street address.
The problem, as I see it, is that Google cannot stop from overwriting the AB info after you sync. This is because only a 'merge' is allowed. You cannot set it (as you can with Mobile Me) to have the AB contacts be the 'mother' source (primary).
I have also had similar problems with Mobile Me, but more just loss of contacts. Some contacts mysteriously just disappear. Fortunately, when I realize a contact is missing, I can go into Time Machine and retrieve it. Unfortunately, what I'm worried about is the contacts i don't realize are missing!
I am seriously thinking about going back to utililizing hard-wire synchronization between my iPhone and Primary computer (macbook pro 15", unibody, 2009) again. All of these 'cloud' syncs are just not ready for prime time, and I'm concerned about data loss.
If there is a way to JUST do calendar sync, between my iPhone and my 2 macbooks, this would be helpful, as i find these to be reliable. Any suggestions on the settings for this?

  • Problem with 2 way calendar syncing

    Hi
I have a N93 and use a usb cable to simply sync calendar items to and from the phone to a PC with Windows 2000 using Outlook. The PC suite is 6.82.22.0.
Recently, calendar items entered into the phone are not being updated onto the PC - the sync works fine the other way. All the 'obvious' settings are correct and I have had several months without any such problems.
On the N93 it informs me that (for example) one entry is to be uploaded but it never arrives onto the Outlook calendar.
Any help or clues very welcome, in a not too technical way please!
    Thanks
    Jon

  • HT1386 I am unable to get a two way calendar sync with my iPhone 4s and my mac's ical.  iTunes syncs my mac's calendar to the phone, but not the other way.  I do not use iCloud and I cannot find any menu for removing sync history as described by others.

I have spent 3 hours trying to get my ical updated on my mac with events added to my iphone calendar. Itunes will sync the calendars from the mac to the phone, but not vice versa.  I have read every post which relates to this problem, but I do not use iCloud, there is no iSync app on my mac, and there is no menu to delete sync history under system preferences.  My mac is fairly new and is running Mac OS X 10.7.4.   I tried to delete the iphone from itunes and start over, but can't even do that.   Now what?  Any advice short of throwing both devices out the window?

For resetting the sync history on a Mac running Lion - 10.7.x if needed.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1627
If you see the Sync menu in the menu bar, skip to step 3:
If you do not see the Sync menu in your menu bar, skip to step 7.
Hold the Option key on your keyboard, then click the Sync menu in the menu bar:
if you see the Sync menu but you are unable to open it, skip to step 8.
    Choose Reset Sync Services.
    Click Reset Sync History.
Test for the original issue. If the issue persists, or if you are unable to open the Sync menu, follow these steps:
In the Finder, choose Utilities from the Go menu.
    Open Terminal.
In the Terminal window, type or paste the following command on a single line:
    /System/Library/Frameworks/SyncServices.framework/Versions/A/Resources/resetsync .pl full
    Press Return.
Quit Terminal after the operation has completed (when Terminal returns to the command prompt with a $).

  • Lotus notes calendar one-way sync - reminder/alarm problem

    Hello Everyone,
I haven't found a proper answer to this so posting here. Hopefully I will get a quick answer from some of the experts here.
    BB Desktop Manager version: 5.0.1.37
    Device: Curve 8900 4.6.1
    Lotus notes version: 8.0.2
I use BIS with tmobile and have my gmail emails delivered to my device.
I am doing a lotus notes one-way calendar sync with my BB calendar. I am able to do this successfully. But the alarm & free/busy thing does not sync.
Even though I have alarm set in my notes which works perfectly and I see the notification 15 mins before the meeting on my PC. They don't show up in BB calendar. In BB Desktop Manager-> map fields, the notes 'notify me' is mapped to 'device alarm flag' but when I open the details of an entry that BDM is going to make in the accept/reject screen these fields are empty. I am using the default field mapping in the desktop manager.
All  reminder works for the entries that I create directly in BB. The device calendar reminder is set properly. No issues there.
What should I change in the desktop manager so that I get a reminder in my BB for the lotus notes entry?

    Hello ggap10,
You can try to enabled an advanced logging of the Calendar to see where the alarm flag is not populating.
KB01451 will guide you through the process to enable the logging.
If you need further technical assistance, you can call your service provider.
Thanks and have a great day!

  • Calendar Sync Problem: Cannot write to outlook calendar using DM

All syncing works fine between my DM version 6.0.1.18 and my Blackberry Bold 9700, EXCEPT that I cannot sync entries FROM my device calendar to Outlook 2007... The other way works. BB software is version 5.0.0.593 and it is BIS not BES.
I have tried renaming/deleting Intellisync folder; the configuration on the DM is set to TWO-WAY. I have also reset the configuration on the DM. Every time I want to sync a new calendar entry on my Device, the message box says that it's reading the device entries and then processing them - no problem. Then it starts reading my Outlook entries, no problem. Then it processes Device entries again and highlights entries that need conflict resolution. After inputing required conflict treatment, I get the Confirm Calendar Edits window. So far great! I press Accept, and then get the Processing Device Calendar again...after it gets to the end, a new window appears and when it gets to record X I get the dreaded popup message "Operation terminated unexpectedly" error. If I delete the offending entry on my BB Device, the error disappears. However, until this problem is solved, I effectively only have one way calendar syncing: From Outlook to Device.
    Can somebody please help??
    Thanks.

    Hello flittda,
Does the error occur when you synchronize your Contacts or just the Calendar?
Delete the Intellisync folder from your computer:
    If you
are using Microsoft Windows® XP, go to C:\Documents and Settings\<User
    Folder>\Application Data\Research In
    Motion\BlackBerry\Intellisync.
     If you
are using Microsoft Windows Vista™, go to C:\Users\<User
    Name>\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Intellisync.
If you still get the error , enable advanced logging as shown in KB01451 and look delete the Calendar entry which could be the cause of the error.
Let me know how you make out.
    Thanks!

  • 2 way sync - but calendar only one way?

    Hi!
I've just performed the first 2 way sync between my Outlook 2007 and my Z10. Surprisingly my contacts have not doubled up - which is good. But regarding the calendar the sync worked from my Outlook to my Z10 but the items on my Z10 were not added to my Outlook. Obviously I've missed something - or it's not really a 2 way sync????

  • A way to sync tasks into one calendar on N8, appoi...

I am currently syncing appointments into one calendar and tasks into another, on my Nokia N8. Why do I do this? Skip about halfway down this post, for my rationale.
I'd like to know if there's an easier way to get this done.
I am using a Nokia N8 and syncing with Outlook 2007.
I have both Ovi Suite and Nokia PC Suite (7.1.30.9, which is one of the last versions that doesn't prohibit a connection with the N8). And, I've synced succesfully with both of them.
Nokia PC Sync is set to synchronize tasks and files/folders, but not appointments or contacts. I set it to sync an empty Calendar folder within Outlook. But, it syncs my normal Tasks folder. That way, Tasks go into a calendar on the N8 called "PC Sync."
Then, Ovi Suite synchronizes appointments and contacts, but not tasks or files/folders. I set it to sync an empty Tasks folder within Outlook, but it syncs my normal Calendar folder. Ovi Suite places the appointments into the default N8 calendar called "Personal"
Is there a way, preferrably using Ovi Sync, where I can place tasks into one calendar, on the N8, and Appointments into a different calendar?
Why do I do this? Nokia didn't provide a way to exclude tasks from any of the calendar views (but provided a task-only view - what were they thinking!?). This means the daily and weekly views are filled with tasks, all set ahead of the appointments. I cannot imagine why anyone would want that to constitute their default view of the calendar. Particularly since there is a view available, of only tasks.
By placing tasks in a separate calendar from appointments, I can pick and choose whether I want to see tasks with appointments, in the daily and weekly views.
Now, if only Symbian would be able to sync the categories associated with my tasks and appointments, in Outlook. . . But, I realize (even after years of hoping Nokia would introduce the concept of categories to its software) that you have to walk, before you can run.
I hope you have found this post to be entertaining. But, back to my original question: Is there any way to sync - using only one software solution on the PC, tasks into one of the Nokia N8's calendars and appointments into another?
    Thanks for any ideas.

Here is the text of my feedback letter regarding Tasks...
Come on Apple! You have to be kidding me! I got caught up in the iPhone 3G euphoria and blindly ordered my 16GB Black about a week ago. (still waiting for it BTW) I had not purchased an iPhone Edge specifically because of its lack of Exchange connectivity. I have been "suffering" with an AT&T Tilt (HPC 8925, TyTn II) for the past year while I waited for Apple to "catch up" as it were.
Well, imagine my surprise a few minutes ago when I read that "Exchange ActiveSync Support" on the iPhone is not as capable as it is on a Windows Mobile device or even a Blackberry for that matter!
Look, any junior Exchange admin knows how important Public Folders are in the enterprise. There is absolutely no excuse for the lack of Public Folder support on the iPhone. This is a serious issue that will lose Apple and AT&T important high use, high revenue enterprise customers.
Then there is the issue of tasks. It has been my experience that many Exchange users utilize the Tasks feature extensively. I am dumbfounded that task support is missing from the iPhone.
Finally comes Notes. While it might not be used as much as Public Folders and Tasks, from the outside looking in it seems that integrating Exchange Notes would be a fairly simple endeavor.
PLEASE tell me and the rest of your customers (and potential customers) that support for Exchange Tasks, Notes, and Public Folders is in the works. We need something integrated just like mail, calendars, and contacts, not some patch-on workaround.
I and the rest of your users look forward to your response.
    Sincerely,
    eddiela

  • Wanting One-Way Sync of Contacts and Calendars

Hi: I'm a long-time happy user of MobileMe. Just got my mom an iPod Touch so that she can carry her contact list around with her instead of paper printouts of phone lists.
I've set up a new user on my computer, transferred all her contacts to Address Book, and it's synced nicely with the iPod.
In fact, it's syncing over the air via MobileMe, so that even when I'm not here, she can ask me to update a contact or add one, and it will show up in her iPod later on. HOWEVER, she isn't very computer literate, and one key factor in her using the iPod is the confidence that she "can't mess anything up". Is there a way to keep the syncing one-way: push to her iPod from the computer or from MobileMe, but not allowing any changes or deletions from the iPod back upstream? Then her data would be protected...
    Thanks!

Contacts, calendars, notes, and bookmarks are synced from (or to) your computer, so if you add, change, or delete them on iPhone or iPod touch, they are changed on your computer, and vice versa. By design, the syncing is bi-directional. No way I know of to change that.

  • My iPhone calendar and iCloud sync only one way

My iPhone 4 (iOS 5) calendar and iCloud sync only one way -- from iCloud to the phone. Any ideas why I can't sync from my iPhone calendar to iCloud?

When you add an event on Iphone, 3rd fields down from bottom, select calender > iCloud. Voila!!
I am not sure everybody understand really the intention with iCloud. It is one single calender residing on a Apple server somewhere. Selecting iCloud from any device will show this calender. Then how to sync this with other calenders is to me a mystery, or not possible, especially on Lion iCal. Please anyone.

  • Exchange Calendar Syncing -- One Way sync only

I am able to sync my contacts and email both ways between my Pre and my exchange server.
However, any items I create on my PRE are not showing up on my Exchange calendar.  Items I create on my Exchange calendar show up on my PRE.
Is this a generic issue or a problem specific for my handset?
I tried deleting and adding the exchange info.  It did not work.
    J.
Post relates to: Pre p100eww (Sprint)

This may or may not apply to you guys, but I know that I had issues with my Exchange/Outlook syncing to my Google Calendar, using Google Calendar Sync. The problem was due to the default event-type in Outlook.
If the Pre is very closely tied with Google, it's possible you will have to go into Outlook, and change File > Folder > Properties for "Calendar" and make sure it is set to IPM.Appointment.

I'll venture that your problem here is that you're using two very different versions of Mac OS X.  The USB adapter has been useful to me when making big downloads or while using other networks, but it might not be your case.
Here's what I would advise, though it may be less than stellar:  Copy the files you need into folders and move them through a USB flash drive or using that external hard drive of yours. (Could the format be the reason your MBA can't see it?). Some stuff like calendars and contacts can be exported too. At least in Lion, I haven't used Tiger in a while.
    Good luck.
