One way chat from isight equipped mac to PC

Audio works fine, but my buddy can't see me. I am using 10.4.3, ichat AV: he is using latest AIM; he has opened all ports in firewall and router etc. What is weird is that we can both talk to each other fine. Any ideas?

On the PC when a Video chat is going on there are two Tabs.
One is the Preview of the User (has an advert showing if they have no camera) and the other is the incoming Video.
Has he got the right tab at the front ?
I take it he has Tuned his AIM application to his Mic ?

Your PC pal should upgrade to the current AIM 5.9. If fixes some of 5.5's problems.

The requirements for one-way video are the same as for two-way video except for one camera.
One-way video between an iSight-equipped Mac and a correctly configured PC is possible for most users. However, some users report that they can just NEVER get it to work. We do not know why that is. Adding any compatible USB webcam to the PC system (and "tuning" correctly after the addition) should let you make video connections if you are one who cannot make it work without a camera.

One-way chat issues

Trying to do a one-way chat with 4.0.7. Camera is on other person's mac. I don't have a camera and my video options are greyed out. I cannot start a video chat nor can I accept their invitation - when they send an invitation it says they canceled it and has no option for me to click. Thanks.

If File Sending does not work then make sure the other end has port 5190 on UDP open.
It will tend to be that they can call Out - effectively opening the port - but will not except files other wise.
Check if you can send to other Buddies.
If it is more global then check you are allowing port 5190 for Outgoing calls (On UDP)

One Way Chat

I am trying to invite my parents (PC users) to a one-way chat. All info says control-click and select "Invite to one-way Video chat"
I don't get that option, not even a greyed out option.
I am using ichat 3.1.8.
Would my parents set-up effect my options?

We are deploying IPhone model 4s in our organization and we want to have a Global addressbook. I have setup with Google using Gmail and accessing the contacts however this provides a two-way sync. I need the setup to be a one-way sync from Google to IPhone only!

I use the same id and password as I want them all in the same place. I have tried other solutions offered here like turning off contact, saving to the phone and turning them back on and merging. still no contacts go to icloud.

1. Create a new Profile.

One way replication from MS sql server to Oracle 10g

We are using Sql server 2005 windows 2003 32 bit and Oracle 10g 10.2.0.3 on linux 64 bit
Is it possible to replcate table data on real time from sql server (2005 32 bit or sql server 2000 32 bit)to oracle 10g running on linux 64 bit?
If yes then what are the steps.
It will be one way replication from sql server to oracle.
Which option is best sql server dts or Oracle Stream replication to replicate table data?

If you want to push data from SqlServer, then ODBC, Linked tables, DTS etc.
If you want to pull data from Oracle, then Heterogenous Services / Gateway.

One-Way sync from Palm to iBook?

Wiped my address book with a crashed sync, but the data remains on my Palm device (Treo 650). Anyone know how to setup a one-way sync from the Treo back into the iBook? Thanks, M

Welcome to Apple Discussions.
You should first try to correct the problem by dragging the AddressBook.data file out of your Address Book folder at the end of this path:
Macintosh HD:Users:<username>:Library:Application Support:Address Book
Duplicate the AddressBook.data.previous file, and rename it simple AddressBook.data and launch the application to see if it can recover your files.
If not, you should understand that there is no easy, quick, painless way to achieve what you want - moving a copy of your handheld data to your Macintosh.
You can restore synchronization to the Palm Desktop, by moving the Apple conduit out of the active Conduits folder, and by moving the following disabled Palm conduits out of the Disabled Conduits folder and back into the active one:
• Address Conduit
• Calendar Conduit
• Contacts Conduit
• Datebook Conduit
• Tasks Conduit
• ToDo Conduit
(Only one of each conduit pair is used by your Treo 650, but these instructions would also apply to users of the older conduits.)
By setting each conduit to Handheld overwrites Macintosh, you will transfer the data on your smartphone to the Palm Desktop, overwriting any existing records by doing so.
You can then export contact data as a vCard file and calendaring data as a vCal file but, here's a problem: you cannot export task or to do data, so in this process, you will lose all of the to do items in iCal. Once you have exported the Palm Desktop data in vCard and vCal format, you can import the contents of each file into the Address Book and iCal, remembering that your vCal file contains only event—and not to do—data.
You can then return the Palm conduits to the Disabled Conduits folder and the iSync Palm Conduit to the active one, and synchronize once again with iSync, choosing to overwrite the contents of your handheld with the data from the Address Book and iCal. Once again, say goodbye to your to do records. You do this by removing your device from iSync and adding it back prior to the next synchronization, causing the framework to act as if you have never synchronized before. Choose Replace (and not Merge) to avoid data duplication errors.
Do you see why periodically backing up Address Book and iCal data is so important? To do so, just select the Back up Address Book in the Address Book or the Back up Database option in iCal.

Anyway to reset/reload the iCloud Contact list from a good know source (one way synch, from an iOS device to iCloud)?

Is there anyway to reset/load the iCloud Contact list form a good known source?
i.e. One way synch, from an iOS device to iCloud (The way we used to be able to do it with MobileMe)?
My current iCloud Contact list is messed up and I want to reset/reload it with a good know list from one of my iOS devices, but I can't find a way to do it, or at least it is not obviouse to me.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

I agree ! Need to be able to flush out and reset what's in the Cloud easily/simply, then start a new sync from a known good source.
So far, not impressed (again) with Apple's syncing prowess...

ICal One-Way Sync? (iPhone to Mac)

So, the other day my mother accidentally erased all of her events in iCal on her Mac. She still had them all on her iPhone, so she tried to sync it with her Mac to undo the deletions. But it did the opposite; all of her events were lost on her phone. Luckily, I was able to restore her back-up onto her iPhone. So I need to know if there is a way to sync the events (one-way) from the phone onto the Mac.

I am not sure if I will follow your advice, however. While you're probably right and it should be a true sync, what I was trying to say was that in my case (and apparently Berit's as well) it simply isn't.
Which means that apart from the fact that we will probably have to clean out our adress books and calendars again after a reset and sync. I've done that three times already and believe me, it's a major pain. Plus, there is also a chance it won't work afterwards.
I was actually hoping for there to be some workaround solution like a one-way sync. And I'm not happy with Apple's tendency to prevent such workarounds wherever they can. I understand they want to profit from their awesome products but wherever anything doesn't work they're starting to lose their user friendliness along the way. Which still, to me, is their selling point number one, notwithstanding the really great design.
Honestly, I'm not sure what to do right now.
But thanks again for your time. I'll keep posting what happens.

How to do one way synch from PC to phone ONLY for contacts and Calendar

Does anyone know how you can synch only ONE WAY - from Outlook on PC to Iphone? I want no information to change in Outlook Calendar or Contacts. I don't want the phone to make any changes to Contacts or Calendar on PC. Thanks!

iSync is a Mac-only application for syncing Contacts and Calendars from the Mac Address Book and iCal to mobile phones and PDAs.
It has nothing to do with the iPhone, Outlook or Windows PCs.

Active Directory: One Way Trust from NT Domain to 2003 Domain being upgraded to 2012 R2

We have an old legacy NT 4 domain that is slowly being decommissioned. (Slowly is the key word) Currently there is a one way External Trust between those NT 4 domains and a child domain that is at 2003 functionality. We are in the middle of upgrading
those child domain and the root domain to 2012 R2. My only concern right now and I can't seem to find concert proof either way, but will that external one way trust break when upgrading the forest and domain functionality to 2012 R2 once we
have all our DC's upgraded? I have read articles on how to get that trust to work in a 2008 R2 domain and of course it is working with the existing 2003 domain.
In theory the trust should break, correct? However, I know there are some security changes among other things in 2012 that may or may not work.

Yes. We are working with the client to migrate any dependencies off these 3 NT legacy domains. We will be able to decommission 2 of the 3 without any issues. However, they still have an old NT box running SQL 6.5 databases for a application still in
production. Yes, they are very aware that NT isn't supported, that that version of SQL isn't supported, and that this will hold up their upgrade.
Our plans for them will be to deploy all new Windows Server 2012 R2 domain controllers but keep the domain and the forest functionality at 2003 in order to support that final NT Legacy domain until they can get that application migrated.
Once that NT domain is decommissioned then we can raise the functionality of the rest of their domains from 2003 to 2012 R2.

If you're syncing from an iPhoto or Aperture album, use these steps to find the iPod Photo Cache folder in the default iPhoto Library or Aperture Library location:
From the Finder, choose Home from the Go menu.
Once there, open the Pictures folder and locate the iPhoto Library file. (For Aperture, this is called Aperture Library.) If you have moved your iPhoto Library or Aperture Library to a different location, go to that location in Finder first.
Control-click the iPhoto Library or Aperture Library file and choose Show Package Contents from the shortcut menu.
In the next window, locate the iPod Photo Cache folder and drag it to the Trash. Important: Do not remove or modify any other file within the library package. Removing or modifying other files may cause data loss.
Close the Finder window.

One way trip from PPRO to AEFX ?

Can some one advise best way to "one-way" a final edit from PPRO to AEFX. (3 minute 05 sec music video)
I have 2 alternative workflows to consider. Both have there advantages and disadvantages.
Option 1:
I would really like to work on the native clips in AEFX ...and would like that the clips are in brought in as per edit. (duration and sequenced) on a single layer in AEFX comp. I could cope if they came in multi layered but they do need to be in edit synch.
I do not want to deal with audio synch issues in AEFX .
The edit in PPRO CS5.5 is a Multi Cam Seq. (nest) plus 2 additional layers of video.
The multicam includes blue screen clips.
No fx or plugins are applied in PPRO.
All fx work and final out put will be managed from AEFX (one-way and no return to PPRO)
I do not need to be dynamic linked to PPRO. ie. I just need to get the edit to AEFX.
Alternately ... Option 2 ( much simpler but I lose the native clips advantage)
Export a DI in PPRO and then "razor" it back into clips (scene changes) in AEFX.
Maybe DNxHD or Uncomp AVI?
Thoughts on first option anyone.

You may also have a look at this Andrew Kramer tutorial about trimming and arranging layers within AE comp while transferring PrPro project to it.
Perhaps, it helps in future projects...

One way sync from Outlook Express gets Unable to read application data error

I have a BB Flip, 8220, and am trying to use Outlook Express as my Contacts organizer. I have started Outlook express "vanilla" and only have one records in Outlook Express. I have 34 records in my BB Contacts. When I run synchronize (and again, I am trying to do this one way, from Express to BB) I get the error "Unable to read application data", "Processing Device Address Book", "Record 34 of 34 Records".
I have read many of the threads. I have checked the RIM.log file and it says one way sync. Any clues on how to fix this? I am on Desktop 4.6, do I need to upgrade to 4.7?

Well I fixed the problem. What I did was run a Backup using the desktop mgr software, I then ran a restore, but I used the Advanced option so that I could open the ipd backup file and then select just the contacts database and push that from my computer to the device (using the right arrow copy button in the middle of the Advanced window thingy). I then reran the Sync and it WORKED!
Doing the backup and restore must have fixed the corrupted record on my phone. Wonderful. I was nervous, but it worked jst fine.
