One way chat with Dad

My Dad has an old iMac, no IChat. I think he has aol IM. Can he accept my one way video chat invitation?

The current version of the AIM client on the Macintosh can only be used for text chatting; it is not capable of audio or video.

One-way chat issues

Trying to do a one-way chat with 4.0.7. Camera is on other person's mac. I don't have a camera and my video options are greyed out. I cannot start a video chat nor can I accept their invitation - when they send an invitation it says they canceled it and has no option for me to click. Thanks.

Hi,
If File Sending does not work then make sure the other end has port 5190 on UDP open.
It will tend to be that they can call Out - effectively opening the port - but will not except files other wise.
Check if you can send to other Buddies.
If it is more global then check you are allowing port 5190 for Outgoing calls (On UDP)

One Way Chat

I am trying to invite my parents (PC users) to a one-way chat. All info says control-click and select "Invite to one-way Video chat"
I don't get that option, not even a greyed out option.
I am using ichat 3.1.8.
Would my parents set-up effect my options?
Dual Core imac Mac OS X (10.4.9)

One-way video with PC user ends up with black screen!

Whenever i try to start a one-way video chat with someone using AIM on a PC, she ends up getting a black screen. She can hear me alright, but cannot see anything! It's not a lighting thing, as the preview comes out crystal clear... please help, someone!

When this issue used to happen in AIM 5.9 the "fix" was to get the PC end to do the "Tuning" for the Video and Audio anyways.
In AIM 6.1 and AIM 6.5 this has been replaced with a simple option in Enhanced IM in the Preferences to select the camera (Audio is done in the Control Panels)
So in efect this no longer works.
Of course they do have to have allowed the AIM video part through any firewall or router setting and not just AIM Talk.
They may also have to allow the app through the XP of Vista firewall as well

One way video with AIM PC user?

I understand that you can do a one way video chat when the other user has iChat AV, and I know that you can do a two way video chat with a PC AIM buddy. My question is this: is it possible to conduct a one way video chat with a PC AIM buddy? I have an iSight with iChat AV and would like to be able to have a one way video chat with my wife who is out of state.
She does not yet have a camera of her own, but does use instant messenger with the latest AOL software on her Dell laptop. When I see her online, can I initiate the one way video chat to which she will be able to both see and hear me?

In theory it should work to ANY AIM client (AIM, Trillian or iChat) that can do Audio Video chat. (AIM for Mac can not)
I can, in fact, do One-Way to my wife's PC which does not have camrea or Mic and do not get the problem. I can start the chat in either direction.
Other people report this 10 sec problem.
I have not come across anything that is a specific tweak that will make it work.
The Mac is the one listed below,
The PC is running XP home and the processor is 1.6Ghz.
The Mac is on Tiger (10.4.2) and iChat 3.0.1
The PC is on Automatic Updates and has Service Pack 2 install.
The PC is running AIM 5.9 (not sure of the sub numbers)
The router and modem (2 devices) are set up as Static IP from Modem to router and UPnP and Static IP from router to computers (in this case both ethernet), agian with UpnP enabled
The Modem is a Spedtouch 510v4 and has the SIP unbound from port 5060 as it SIP aware.
Having been succesful in Panther - I tried it in Tiger and it failed initially. (the Video icon under the PC text chat disappeared)
I resorted to using the menu items on the PC and was sucessful in asking for a Video chat. This put the Video icon back under the Text chat window and now works in both directions.
It is fair to say that the router which also handles the wireless connections of my children has been rebooted several times which also might make a difference. This has certainly helped other people with Tiger.

Active Syn works one way only with calendar

I need some help. I have a Treo755P with Sprint and I remotely syn my email, contacts, and calendar with my office Exchange Server. Everything works great except my Outlook calendar only syns "one way!" Input into my Outlook Calendar syns with my Treo755 Calendar, HOWEVER, input into my Outlook Calendar DOES NOT syns back to my Treo755. By the way everything else syns fine both ways!!! I have checked with our Exchange Server Administrator and everything is going on fine from there end, so it seems to be in the phone. I just discoved this issue but it appears by my Outlook Calendar that it has been going on a few months. Please help.

One thing you can try is delete the server sync profile and then recreate it. Make sure you have all the server information needed before doing this. I'll continue researching this issue for other means of resolution.

Any Update on one-way sync with Nokia Suite?

I've found several threats discussing on one-way sync capabilities.
I recently upgraded Outlook to 2010, PCSuite seems not to work with Outlook 2010. Therefore I moved to Nokia Suite. As I just lost 823 contacts, I'm really disapointed about this product.
In my case one-way sync to my divice would perfectly work, as I'm just using it with SIM access mode in my handsfree... no updates will ever be done in this phone!
I just updated my firmware (without backing up my phone before) and thought, I can (like in PCSuite) just do a one-way sync of my contacts... big mistake. As I've sync'ed my contacts before with Nokia Suite, the sync machanism though, I've deleted all my contacts in my phone (what actually the firmware update did) and deleted my contacts in Outlook as well...
Lucky my second device still has all relevant contacts. But I don't know how to bring these contacts back to my first, flashed device...
Any ideas?

Iphone 5 - only one way synchronization with iCal

Hello community,
Since I have my new iPhone 5 the calendar synchronization is not working properly anymore which means only one way from iCal to iPhone but not the other direction. I could not found a solution in the diverse support communities so maybe you have an idea what the error might be?
I am synchronizing locally via iTunes from a Mac Book Pro and I am not using iCloud.
It would be great if you could help.

This is generally an indication that the synchronization framework on your machine is not handling data changes properly, and must be reset.
To reset it, launch iSync—that's right: iSync, not iTunes—then…
• open the Preferences… dialog
• press the Reset Sync History button
That will remove the records currently stored in your truth database, and force a first-time, slow synchronization event when you next launch one in iTunes.

One way chat from isight equipped mac to PC

Audio works fine, but my buddy can't see me. I am using 10.4.3, ichat AV: he is using latest AIM; he has opened all ports in firewall and router etc. What is weird is that we can both talk to each other fine. Any ideas?

Welcome to the Apple Discussion Pages.
On the PC when a Video chat is going on there are two Tabs.
One is the Preview of the User (has an advert showing if they have no camera) and the other is the incoming Video.
Has he got the right tab at the front ?
I take it he has Tuned his AIM application to his Mic ?

One-way video chat to 10.2.8 from Tiger G4?

Ok, 1000 pardons if this has been answered somewhere...
I am trying to video chat (one way) from one computer, an ibook G4 with 10.4.2, ichat 3.0.1, to another, a powerbook G3 400 mhz with both 10.2.8 and 10.3, both with ichat AV 2.1 ... We have been able to audio chat, send files, etc., without problem.
My question: Is it also impossible just to RECEIVE video on a "sub-standard" computer? We didn't hook a camera up to the G3, because ichat says it is too slow to video conference.
When I invite my wife to a one-way video conference, it simply says to her, "your computer is unable to video-conference." It says this no matter whether it is booted in 10.2.8 or 10.3.
I haven't been able to find anything specifically addressing one-way video between ichat 3.0 and 2.1, or whether at least that is possible with slower computers. I haven't read anything saying that this is specifically NOT possible. I have read that there are (apparently) many problems in general between 2.1 and 3.0, but any specific info on how I can accomplish this would be helpful.

The link http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301050 says any G3 can Audio chat 1-1 not Vifeo.
A G3/600 is needed to video.
This http://www.ecamm.com/mac/ichatusbcam/ is norammly needed for the use of USB cams or an iSight on sub G3/600 machines to Video (as low as 350Mghz)
I have no information if it helps with one way chats with or without a camera and Mic. However as it comes with a 7 day trial it might be worth giving it a go.

One-Way video chat PC to Mac

Hi,
My father and I both have iBook G4s but no webcams. My sister and brother-in-law are on a PC laptop with a webcam and using AIM. They have a new baby that we all want to see, but they don't care that much about seeing us. Can we do a one-way chat with video from them if we don't have video on our end?
We have not had success getting this set up so far, and I wanted to make sure it was even possible before spending too much more time trying to make it work.

I hate to disagree with the much more knowledgeable people here, but it is possible to have a one-way video chat with AIM 5.9 (with cam) and Mac (no cam). I know that, because I did it for quite some time with my sister, who lives abroad, before I bought my iSight.
Of course, I also know that I'm in a tiny minority of people who have been able to do this, but it is possible. That said, I have no idea why it worked for us, with the same settings as everyone else uses, and didn't for so many others. I guess the planets were aligned just right -- or maybe it had to do with us being identical twins and the powers that be felt sorry for us living so far apart. Sorry I can't be more help, though.

Help for ichat 3.0.1 one-way video chat

Appreciate the come back from the previous, but in ichat 3.0.1 there is no selection under Buddies for a one-way video chat. ichat 2.1 has the selection. I really need to make this connection. Is there any way? This is a mac to mac connection w/broadband. audio to audio is ok but cannot connect the one-way video with my camera. Help

Can't invite for one way video/audio chat

I found this tip on Apple's website: http://www.apple.com/pro/tips/onewayvideochat.html. The option to invite for a one-way chat doesn't appear in the Buddies menu. I'm using the latest version of iChat. Does the buddy also have to have the latest?

iChat needs to be talking to another iChat 3 user.
They have to be displayinga Stacked Video icon to you in the Buddy list.

Mouse scrolling only one way

All of a sudden, my mouse will scroll only one way (down) with the trackball. I assume it's a corrupted preference(?), but I don't find the .plist item (probably not looking in the right place). Would appreciate help asap.
