One way visibility on network

Hi,
Our iMac can see our macbooks, but not the other way around.
We are connected to the internet via a cable modem plugged in to the Airport extreme. The iMac (PPC running Tiger) is connected to the Airport via an ethernet cable. The two macbooks connect wirelessly. We can use the iMacs printer from either macbook and we can see and access the macbooks from the iMac. We can transfer files either direction, but only from the iMac. Neither macbook can see the iMac and neither macbook can see the other macbook. It used to work just fine and I'm not really sure when it stopped. Occasionally when the macbooks wake they have a hard time connecting, but not normally. I think this all started the last time they both lost the network in their sleep. Anyone have any ideas?

i'm having the same problem. networking worked great until a couple of weeks ago. pc's can see me, but i can't see ANYTHING now in my network. (before i could see at least 2 networks.) we've tried everything on the PC, problem seems to be at my end, and i believe all my settings are correct and haven't changed. however, i'd like to confirm what settings i need to be using in case something did change. all computers have been rebooted several times since the problem began. thanks - tk

  • CME SIP Phone Calls in one-way (inside local network)

    Hello everyone, first time here, need a little help.
    I'm having some trouble to find a solution to the following problem.
    Recently I've installed CME 9.1 using the router 2921. Most of the phones are SIPs, model 3905 (around 20 of them), with the last firmware updated.
    Some users are complaining one way audio issue in internal calls, from a extension to another (only in sip phones)
    With Wireshark capture I could see that RTP packets are being sent and receive by the router and not directly trough the phones. Is this normal in CME? When a call with problems occours (one way audio) there is no audio in one way, but router still sends confort noise packets.
    Here is my config.

    Hi ,
    We have upgarded the the firmware to the  3905.9-2-2ES2 , but show voice register pool phone-load still shows the old firmware, but the phoen itself is showing the new upgraded version on the dsiplay ...any advice is highly appricated,

  • One Way Networking?

    Hi, I've just recently bought a new MacBook and wanted to network it with my iMac. Simple I hear you cry! Well networking one way was but it's not the other way round!
    For example, when I open the MacBook I can almost immediately see the iMac, Connect to it, open folders, and Screen share. However if I try to do likewise on the iMac, I can see the MacBook, but it will not connect to it. When I click 'Connect As' I don't even get the option to enter a user name. I've tried connecting via IP address and familiar name bit to no-avail.
    To be honest - it's not a HUGE problem as I can connect both machines to other network devices on my network - but it's just bugging me! To the best of my knowledge, the MacBook and iMac are set-up identically and are both using the latest version of Leopard.
    Does anyone have any ideas?

    You don't, because it isn't essential. If you select the "Set Access..." option it will allow only those listed items through the firewall. File Sharing should be one of those items listed.   • One-way video chat failure

    How do I set up one way video chat between iChatAV and AIM Pro on a PC?
    I'm using the Mac and iChat, and my buddy is using AIM Pro on Microsoft Windows. I'm the one with the camera (which is the built-in one on my MacBook).
    No Camera on the PC but starting on the PC end and then using the Buddy List menu items to start a Video chat to the Mac with a camera. I've never had video success at all, so even starting on the PC end wouldn't work.
    I'm pretty good at understanding how to get around a computer, but the data information is very confusing. So the log reports make no sense to me.

  • Using Sync as a one way backup?

    I have a user with a client mac (MacBook Pro). The MBP actually remains on our network at all times and I want to backup both her Documents and Desktop folders every time she logs out, no need to backup anything else. She has a home folder on our Active Directory controlled file servers. I can manage her AD account via Workgroup Manager because our schema has been extended.
    Is there a way to set up a Home Sync so that it acts as a one way (client to server) backup each time she logs out? I can't use background sync, mainly because of the issues with the MS Database files from Office 2008. I don't actually want to "sync" in this case, just really create a snapshot backup of the 2 folders from her Mac each time she logs out. No history of file versions is required.

    you may not find step by step instructions to make it a one way sync. but check the details pane in wgm to add keys to the homesync prefs that may get you close.

  • Mac to PC video chat connects only one way?

    This may be somewhat off topic for Mac users, but maybe someone in the community can still help me.
    I have a strange problem using iChat AV 3 on a MacBook and AIM 5.9 on a PC for video chat. I can readily establish video chat when the PC contacts the Mac, but vice versa the video chat cannot be established. The PC gets the invitation to video chat, but as soon as it accepts the connection is terminated, and I keep getting a firewall error message. Instant messaging between the computers can be established both ways. I assume that one crucial port on the PC is blocked by the firewall. Scouting this and other forums I found lists of possible ports that need to be opened, and I tried all of them, but nothing works. Tried the DMZ for the PC, which didn't work either. Tried deactivating Windows Firewall, which didn't work. Any other ideas?
    The PC set up is as follows:
    Thinkpad T23 with Windows XP SP2; Windows Firewall on, AIM port allowed; Netgear Router MR814v2; UPnP activated, no port forwarding at this point; AIM 5.9
    MacBook   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    I monitored the contact attempts using connection
    doctor, and it didn't give me any error messages on
    the mac side. To answer your other question, I did
    activate UPnP in the Windows Firewall as well as in
    the router, but that didn't help either. It turns out
    that activating or deactivating UPnP on the router
    doesn't make a difference. It always only connects
    one way. I did however activate windows firewall
    error logging, and it gave the following log

    Could you have a look together with Ralph if maybe the Adobe Bridge is malfunctioning. I have found a missing component wich is known and documented. This is the bug report and the way to fix it. I have found it in my own computer, after fixing it the iChat suddenly worked. I suggest you take the missing part (the update file you were asking about Ralph, it is lost in a file named update) and run Fritz' test again. If the code progressively gets better then we have pinned down the "random" factor of the malfunction. The documentation you find here: http://www.adobe.com/support/techdocs/332537.html. It blocks the airport. A lot of peolple run Adobe foto shop, mine came from Elements. So, do expect progress... Have to bring my daughter to school now. See you later.   • Traffic only allowed one-way for VPN connected computers

    Hello,
    I currently have an ASA 5505.  I have set it up as a remote access SSL VPN. My computers can connect to the VPN just fine.  They just can't access the internal LAN (192.168.250.0).  They can't ping the inside interface of the ASA, or any of the machines.  It seems like all traffic is blocked for them.  The strange thing is that when someone is connected to the VPN, I can ping that VPN-connect machine from the ASA and other machines inside the LAN.  It seems the traffic only allows one way.  I have messed with ACL's with no avail.  Any suggestions please?

    Hello,
    I seem to be having the same kind of issue although I cannot ping from either end.
    Ive set up a l2tp/ipsec vpn which I am able to connect to and get ip from my ip pool (radius authentication is working).
    I tried running:

    but i get an error msg saying that the syntax of the nat command is deprecated. Im running ASA version 8.4.
    Ive fiddled around abit to find the correct syntax but have been unsuccessfull so far.

  • IP SLA stats - one-way latency / MOS score 4.34 not updating

    I'm trying to use Cisco IP SLA to bench mark voice traffic peformance before and after I apply QoS to the network. 
    *  I've setup IP SLA in both directions over a DSL connection between a 7600, and an 1801
    *  I've setup IP SLA in both directions over an Ethernet WAN link between a 7200 and another 7200

    Is there something wrong with my config?  Is this working properly or could this be a bug?

    We have RDS 2012 deployment in domainA.local. There is a one-way trust between domainA.local and domainB.local: A trusts B and B doesn't trust A.
    A user from domainB.local authenticates in Web-access interface (wa.domainA.local) and sees
    every published application in every collection in the deployment independently of UserGroups setting of collections and applications. This occurs for any domainB user.
    In the security log of wa.domainA.local we can find an event :

    AirDrop transfer between Mac mini (late 2012) and MacBook Pro (late 2008) works only one way.  I see both machines on both airdrop windows. Firewalls on both machines are set exactly the same way, and with Network Browser set to allow.  Can send a file from Mac mini to MacBook, but not the other way.  Never get a window asking to accept on the Mac mini.
    Found no useful documentation on AirDrop anywhere in the whole support site.

  • One Way Trust, Start with RWDC Then Go To RODC?

    So, we have an internal network and a DMZ network in play here.  I'm attempting to setup a one way trust so resources on the DMZ network can be managed from the internal network.  Internal network has RWDCs in its domain, and the DMZ has its own
    RWDCs in its own domain and a RODC from the internal network's domain.  The internal network's RODC is in its own site in AD and is confirmed to be communicating with the RWDCs in the internal network.  The RODC is not an authoritative DNS server,
    but can host a secondary zone or stub zone.  The functional level of the internal domain is 08r2 and the DMZ domain is 2012r2, if that matters.
    The task is to setup the one way trust, and its proving a bit difficult.  So far I've attempted both Conditional Forwarders or stub zones on the RODC and the DMZ RWDC, no dice.  There are no observed DNS replication problems within the domains
    themselves and using ping and nslookup, I've confirmed that DNS resolution is working between the RODC and the DMZ RWDC.  When I try to create the trust from the DMZ RWDCs, it fails saying the specified domain cannot be contacted.   Based on what
    I've read online in other posts and my inability to get around it, it seems that a trust requires a RWDC at each end to function.  If this is not the case, I would love to hear how it can be setup with a RWDC at one and and a RODC at the other.
    Now, if its correct that the trust requires two RWDCs to setup, what if it was setup with two RWDCs and then one of the RWDCs was removed and replaced with a RODC?  I guess what I'm asking is does it just require a RWDC at each end to be setup, or does
    it also require a RWDC at each end for the trust to function properly on an ongoing basis?

    Hello!A few days back we installed a new switch (HP 1620-24G JG913A) for a new office inside our building. The switch is connected to the same one in our server room. The computers inside the office are functioning perfectly as far as the users are concirned. They can use network printers, open helpdesk tickets, access the intranet, internet, etc.
    However, even though everything was functioning well in the old office (the machines are the same ones), nothing going the other way can get through. They can't be pinged, Spiceworks doesn't recognize them (although they have agents installed), and, well, that's not nice.The two switches are configured identically, and googling for the solution hasn't turned up anything usable (for me). For now it's not a big issue, but I'd like to solve it, so that it wouldn't become a problem later.Any help...

    SHAREPOINT QUESTION: One way SYNC of files from SharePoint cloud to hard-drive
    How does a person enable Sales reps to SYNC literature files from a cloud library down to their computer,.... but then not be able to have them accidentally delete the files by accident if they delete a file from their computer and then have it
    sync upwards again.
    Permission Level
    "Read" allows to download individual files but not SYNC down and there are too many files for them to go and download each file every-time.
    "View Only" is only visible on the browser and not useful when reps are in remote parts of the world.
    "Contribute" allows the sales reps to SYNC but if they delete a file from their computer, then it deletes it for all which is to much.
    There must surely be a way to allow a one way (cloud-to-hard-drive) SYNC to avoid folks from deleting files.
    Does anybody know how to d this or if not, how do I have Microsoft consider such a perceived weakness compare to dropbox

    You can achieve the functionality which you describe using the OneDrive (SkyDrive Pro) in Sharepoint 2013. You can setup read only folders to sync to achieve "one way" traffic. You will need Office 2013 locally to avail the full features of
    the coauthoring environment if you are looking into that as well.

  • Bonjour video issues (one way only!)

    Interesting... Using a MacBook and a MacBook Pro on the same network using an Airport Extreme (n) base station. No firewalls... same subnet...
    If we video chat via AIM, it works fine... both ways.
    When we chat via Bonjour... both computers can "see" each other in the Bonjour pane. Also, we can text chat both ways--that works fine.
    When the MacBook initiates the video chat, everything connects fine and works great.
    However, when the MacBook Pro initiates the video chat, it pops up correctly on the MacBook... but when he clicks "Accept," it pauses for a moment and then gives a "communication error -8".
    Weird! I feel like all the settings are correct since the video chat works one way (when the MacBook itself initiates) but it doesn't want to work the other way around.
    Any thoughts?

    Hi,
    Mac Firewall is in System Preferences > Sharing > Firewall tab
    If it is On then it is best to set the iChat ports.
    This is done by clicking New
    Selecting Other in the drop down
    Filling in the requisite TCP and UDP ports
    Giving the entry a name in the Description line
    Apply.

    If these have been done then they should appear in the scrollable list when you get to the firewall.
