One Wireless Profile in ACCESS CONNECTIONS interferes with another?

I have a profile on my T61 laptop for my secured home wireless connection. It's worked fine (now that I've figured out all the idiosyncracies of ACCESS CONNECTIONS) up to today.
Last night, I connected to a Boingo wireless system at the airport, and saved the profile in ACCESS CONNECTIONS.
Today, when I tried to connect to my home system via my home wireless profile, I continually was told by ACCESS CONNECTIONS that the router was out of range or unavailable. I checked my profile and all settings were correct for my home wireless. All profiles are turned off for automotic location switching.
Long story short -- after other failed steps, I finally deleted the Boingo airport profile from ACCESS CONNECTIONS, and suddenly ACCESS CONNECTIONS was able to connect to my home wireless system again.
Why would one wireless profile interfere and seeming superimpose its connection settings onto my home wireless profile? I believe I now have found another idiosyncracy, it seems?
Solved!
Go to Solution.

Here is the solution to the problem.
GoBoingo has a software program that is set to run during Startup (MSCONFIG in Windows XP); this program alerts the laptop user to the presence of a nearby BOINGO wireless hot spot. This program apparently is interfering with ACCESS CONNECTIONS in the sense that it seems to point the laptop's wireless to a BOINGO access point, regardless of whether one is nearby or not. Then, when I try to use ACCESS CONNECTIONS to connect to the home wireless profile, I'm told that the wireless router is out of range -- and, of course, it is, except that it's a BOINGO wireless router, not my home wireless router.
The solution is to remove the GoBoingo software from running in the Startup window, and instead manually start up the software if one wants to check for a nearby BOINGO wireless hot spot. After unchecking GoBoingo from Startup list, and rebooting the computer, I was able to connect to my home wireless router without any problems.

  • Will wireless keyboard for 1 iPad interfere with another iPad?

I have an iPad 2 (WiFi) on order. I will probably get a second one for my wife.
I have 2 questions about the wireless keyboard:
    1) If I get a wireless keyboard, can I use it for either iPad?
    2) If my wife and I are both using apps at the same time on our separate iPads that require text input and my wife is using the keyboard for hers, will it interfere with the text input on my iPad?

You can have multiple iPads in the same room, each with their own assigned/paired keyboard.  I suppose at some level they might interfere with each other (like tens of thousands of cell phones at a BIG sports event), but I have seen labs with dozens of keyboards and iPads with no problem!

  • Can't import profiles in Access Connections 5.02

I exported location profiles in Access Connections 5.02. When I exported, it prompted me for a password, which I entered. However, when I tried to re-import the profiles, it did NOT prompt me for a password and failed with an error saying "Unable to import file. Incorrect passphrase or corrupted file." Well, how can I enter a passphrase when it doesn't prompt me for one on import?!!
This is on a Thinkpad T61p.

    Hi bravedave,
should your update say something meaningfull, or just a sticky note?
BTW: for the above situation, you will be prompted for the passphrase, once you open AC GUI and import this .loc file manually.
BTW2: I would more advice to use the LOA export file, as this is more extended and you can do more, then just import and export AC profies. However, for this second option you need to download the Admin pack for AC.
    Cheers

  • Unable to edit or delete profile in Access Connection 5

    Hi Everybody!
I'm unable to edit or delete profiles in Access Connection on my T41 running latest Access Connection v5.
The edit and delete buttons on the Access Connection Profile menu are shown only in light grey color and it's not possible to click them. I have administrator rights on my machine. These profiles were initially migrated from a very old v3 (automatically during system update) and I guess that this is one of the root causes of my problem.
I have also tried to use the QCTRAY.EXE /DEL command, but that's also not working. The profiles just remain there unchanged.
I would be very pleased if somebody could give me a hint on how to overcome this boring problem.
    Best regards,
    Helmut
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

v3 profiles are not compatible with v5.
The best solution in your case would be to uninstall Access Connections with profiles and then reinstall and create new profiles.

  • X60t: Can´t create a new profile within Access Connections

    Hi,
I use the current version of the Intel Drivers together with the current version of Access Connections for Vista on my X60 Tablet.
Trying to create a new profile within Access Connections I get an Error-window containing the message: "An unsupported operation was attempted." After that the window hangs and cannot be closed.
I tried to uninstall and reinstall Access Connections but have the same problem after this procedure.
Is there anyone having an idea how to solve this problem?

    Hello,
which version of AC do you use? 5.21?
The problem is known, going back to previous version helps.
Then here is a thread and a workaround already.

  • Wireless Network Management with Multiple SSIDs in one Wireless Profile

Could anybody explain me about how Multiple SSIDs in one Wireless Network Name (Network Profile) ? Configuration will be pushed to Windows 7 Pro from Wins Server 2008 R2.
Objective: Multiple office locations will have different SSIDs and when the laptop user travels one location to another, he/she could connect to wireless networks at any offices without any configuration change but utilizing "Automatically use my Windows
logon name and password (and domain if any.)" setting in EAP MSCHAPv2 properties.
    Network Name: Enterprise
    SSIDS: SFO-WIFI, LAX-WIFI,CHI-WIFI,NYC-WIFI,
    Network Type:Access Point
    Security Type: WPA2-Enterprise
    Encryption Type: AES
    Network Authentication Method: Microsoft:Protect EAP(PEAP)
My question is: (1) Will Windows try all the SSIDs in order to get connected to the Wireless Network at the office? (Let's say, user is in NYC, but will Windows try to find SFO-WIFI SSID first, wait until time out, retry?, and moves on to LAS-WIFI SSID,
wait until time out, retry?, and moves on to CHI-WIFI and finally tries NYC-WIFI SSID and found the SSID in the beacon from Access Point and authenticates through RADIUS?
    (2) If the answer is YES, what is the waiting time/timeout setting for one SSID before moves on to another?
    (3) If the answer is NO, what is the process to get user connected to NYC-WIFI SSID when he/she is in NYC office within the range of that SSID?

    Hello Ninjago_2224,
About the multiple office location have different SSIDs, does the location A has the signal used in
    location D?
Please go to Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network and Sharing Center
, and then click Manage wireless networks.
The windows will try to connect to these networks in the order listed.
Please check if the four SSID pushed by Windows Server 2008 is listed as mentioned above.
If the location A have the location D SSID and the location D SSID has higher priority, the Windows will connect to
    location D SSID.
So about the question 1, the Windows will try the SSID in order.
About the question 2, I can’t find the accurate time that test one SSID and move to another. But based on my test, it is very fast.
For more information, please take a look at the following article.

The Friend is on other Networks or you are on other networks or other friends on other networks ?
The most common problem apart form this that cause Error 7 are NAT issues.
    http://www.ralphjohns.co.uk/page15.html#CertainBuddy
There are about six main ways to do NAT (Network Address Translation)
There is no International Standard as such.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Networkaddresstranslation
Most domestic and commercial devices use NAT and realistically short of Bridging the device there is no way around using it.
As the first link suggests though some methods of opening ports seem to be less effected by the way NAT is done. Therefore UPnP tends to be a "Solution"
I did mention UPnP but you don't seem to have mentioned if that is the way you have allowed ports through the device.
I would also look in the firewall for this Actiontec.
IS it an On/Off Enable/Disable setting or is it four or so different levels.
If it works on Levels set it to Low or Off.

  • HT1296 how do I unsynch my iPhone with one computer in order to resynch it with another? could part of my problem be that I initially synched with the first computer under one apple ID then created a new ID so that the two different computers are recogniz

I,m having trouble unsynching my phone from one computer in order to synch it with a new one. I beleive that part of the problem is that I originally set the phone up with one Apple ID then changed to a new ID. Any thoughts on how to work around this? If not how do I erase the new Apple ID in order to make the switch from one computer to the other? this problem is also affecting my ability to make full use of some apps.

Switching Apple IDs and trying to synch with two computers is the problem.
The apps you purchase or download are always tied to the Apple ID that was used to purchase them.
Content synced from one computer will be lost when syncing to a different computer.
I suggest you make sure you have a backup of all the music, photos, and documents on the computer you plan to sync with from now on. Once you have done that you can use the Settings app to erase your device and start over.
Settings > General > Reset > Reset all Settings
Settings > General > Reset > Erase all Content and Settings
Then setup your device again as if it was new. Plan to use one and only one Apple ID. You can then sync with your computer which should be using that same Apple ID.
Pan to download all apps again. Apps that were purchased with the Apple ID you are now using can be downloaded for free. Apps that were purchased using the old Apple ID will have to be purchased again.
Obviously all free apps can be downloaded again without charge.

  • -1 (Minus One) Wireless Client Rate for networked PCs with Ariport Express

Trying to figure out connection problems...
Under Airport Utility > Advanced > Logs and Statistics > Wireless Clients...
My MBP gets a Rate 54Mbps when I am beside it in my room, but sometimes drops down to 11 or so and then goes back up. I think this is why I am losing my AirTunes connection.
Both PCs on the network are farther away but are showing a Rate of -1Mbps, even when they are brought into the same room as the APX.
    Any thoughts.

    1. How does the client device know which Airport to connect to?
The Mac computer will automatically connect to the wireless access point with the strongest signal...which is probably the closest AirPort. An iPhone or iPad may not do this and will tend to stay connected to one AirPort.
    2. How can I tell which of the Airports the attached client device is using?
On a Mac, open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility. Click on one of AirPorts. In the area to the right, locate the AirPort ID and jot that down. Then do the same for your other AirPort.
Move your Mac near one of the AirPorts and log on to the wireless. Hold down the option key on the Mac while you click the fan shaped AirPort icon at the top of the screen. Look for the BSSID. That is the AirPort ID of the device to which you are connected.
If you are close to the "remote" AirPort, and you see the AIrPort ID of the "main" router when you are testing, then you know that the network is not configured correctly.
Can I use this second Airport Express to extend the wireless network via "Extended Wireless Network" while the other two are in "Roaming Netowrk" configuration? Without bogging down??
There will be a modest 10-15% bandwidth loss with the "extend" setup, assuming that the Express is located where it can receive a strong wireless signal from the AirPort to which it is associated. You can avoid the bandwidth loss if the Express is also connected via Ethernet as part of the roaming configuration.

  • One Wireless Profile for Multiple Sites

    Hello,
I was wondering if someone can help me get my head around what I am trying to do and whether or not it is even possible.  The goal is to give our users the ability to go to any of our locations (which are connected via circuits) with a Cisco 7925 phone and have it function.  So in essence we want to have a single Network Profile so the user doesn't need to do anything to the phone for it to function if the move between locations.  We are using a 5508 Controller w/ 3502 APs.
So at our main location I have an SSID created, which is bound to an interface I created on the controller in our Voice VLAN.  This works great, the phones pickup an IP in the block and everything functions as it should.  My confusion is how do I create the same SSID / security parameters for each of our other locations, so if they leave our main site with the phone and goto the other location it sees the SSID, associates and then picks up an IP address in the Voice VLAN at the other location?  What confuses me is the AP / controller seem to handle all the DHCP requests, so even if I have a ip helper-address on say the routers interface it isn't actually being forwarded from the router, it is coming from whatever interface is bound to the WLAN on the controller.  I'm sure I didn't explain this well, I'm not looking for a step by step guide maybe just some pointers as to examples or what I need to study up on to accomplish this.  Thank you very much for all your time.

If this other location is not deemed remote (with a slower WAN link), then you may want to look into utilizing AP groups vs H-REAP.
AP groups would allow you to specify which SSIDs and associated VLANs are enabled per AP group. Then just add the necessary APs (e.g. APs in BLDG-2) to that group (e.g. BLDG-2).
But also depends on where you want the client subnet terminated.
With AP groups or H-REAP central switching the client subnet would terminate at the central location where the WLC is located.
With H-REAP local switching, the client subnet would terminate locally where the AP resides.
Central switching just means all data will be sent back to the WLC, where local switching means that the data will be routed out locally.
To me, AP groups are easier to configure as the config is done at the AP group and then just a matter of putting the AP in that group.
With H-REAP, you have to configure the AP, H-REAP group including adding the AP to the group as well as SSID config if wanting local switching.

  • Trouble with my wireless and cable internet connections with S05

I got a Lenovo S205 last month and have been having trouble connecting it to the internet.
I connect wirelessly to my internet box and sit about 1m away from it. Even though I am so close and my connection shows full strengh on my computer when I am browsing the internet pages often fail to load or miss images or css. I can sit and hit refresh for a mintue before the page loads but my wireless icon never says it has lost connection or signs me out of msn etc.
I tried a different brower to check it was not that but it is still the same. I also find when speaking on skype that my video feed will stop and start again and the sound doesn't come through smoothly.
Because of the trouble and how close I am to the internet box I tried with a cabel but when I plug it in and turn off wireless the computer doesnt seem pick it up and says I have no connection. I tried the same cabel in my old laptop and it worked fine so it seems something wrong with my port.
What can I do to fix it? Thanks
    Stephanie

    hey steffi,
try uninstalling both the wired and wireless drivers for your unit.
let windows install its own generic drivers and try again on both wired and wireless connection at your home.
if possible, try it at a different location and see if it makes any difference. If you are able to connect and have no problems browsing the web on a different wireless/wired connection, then you will need to check the settings of your home's modem

  • HT201328 Hi there, I purchased an Iphone 4S, it is currently locked with one carrier, I am in a contract with another carrier. I am trying to unlock the phone, but the Carrier says I have to activate it through them to unlock it. I so not want to do that,

Hi there, my daughter purchased a used iPhone 4S from a local newspaper who has had it in the lost and found for nearly a year, and no one ever claimed it. It is locked with Telus, my daughter is a Virgin Mobile customer. Telus told me they will only unlock it if she activates it with them, she cannot do that as she is in a contract with Virgin. Is there anything I can do to get around this problem?

Only the carrier to which the iPhone is locked can unlock it. In
this case, you must work with Telus. If they have a pay as you go
plan, activate the iPhone on Telus that way and then after
you meet whatever requirements Telus has, stop using Telus
and move the iPhone to Virgin. Or sell the iPhone to someone
who can use it on Telus.
Telus is the only one who can unlock that iPhone.
