One Workaround to the Spam Email Problem

As seen in other posts including http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=5069558#5069558 the problem of not being able to delete multiple emails at one time is a real problem for anyone on the road with an iPhone.
I have read many posts, talked to Apple, friends, etc. with no real success in dealing with the hundreds of spam emails that fill up my iPhone and take ages to delete ONE BY ONE! Ugh!
I have come up with what may be basic to some, convoluted to others, and honestly still a pain, but it does seem to work fairly well. I have my ISP already tagging spam with the word “Spam” in the subject line, allowing Entourage to filter out the spam into the junk mail box. So what I have done is the following:
I created a new email box. (ex. [email protected]) I then set up several filters in Entourage to execute:
IF:
Execute > if all criteria are met”
Subject > Does not contain > Spam
Any Recipient > Is a contact
Then:
Change Status > Not Junk Email
Set Category > Work
Redirect To > [email protected]
This filter can be enabled or disabled as needed. (In the office or out) The only trick is that you MUST keep Entourage open on a machine somewhere so the above filters are running, as this effectively becomes your spam filter greatly reducing the spam on your iPhone.
I am not going to say this is the best workaround or is for everyone, but after several weeks of deleting a couple hundred emails per day ONE BY ONE on the iPhone I was ready to through it, and my $600 out the window at highway speeds.
This has worked fairly well, reducing my iPhone spam by about 80%-90% and that is all I can ask for right now, and means the iPhone can actually be useful for business purposes. The only note is that you must remember to check your iPhone email if you don’t use your iPhone for awhile, as someone may reply to your new iPhone email address.
If anyone has a better solution please post it. This was the only way a Mac friend and me could figure out a way to help stop the spam. Hopefully Apple will fix the problem soon!

I found it a lot easier to get a free GMail account. No ads, works on WiFi AND Edge, I can use my own custom address as a reply to, and the SPAM filter are AWESOME. I hardly get ANY spam on my iPhone anymore.

It s not the amount of accounts I'm struggling with.
When I create now for both email addresses one account, then I receive the same emails two times.
That is not what I want.
Because on gmx the two email addresses have the same inbox and outbox.
E.g. I can login to my gmx account either with email A or B. It doesn't matter.
Now I want to have the same on my ipad.
One account with both email addresses.

I have an account with skype that i use frequently and once i forgot my password and got the link on my email. when i tried to log in and change password i found out that i have three names and i don't want them all, so how can i delete the other two??

Can I delete my old Firefox sync account if I have a new one which uses the same email address?

I have unlinked all my devices from an old sync account and setup a new sync. In this process I have used the same email address as before.
I have no use of my old sync account, therefore the question is:
Can I delete the old sync account (via https://account.services.mozilla.com/ ) and - implicitly - all data associated with it without affecting my new Firefox account (and its data) in any way?

Yes you can https://services.mozilla.com/delete-account/ and put in your username and password, and hit permanently delete your account. I personally wouldn't you never know if you may need it in the future.

My iMac osX10.6.8 never opened the spam email, but it tried to Am I still at risk?

I received an email from a relative whose iMac apparently had been hijacked and was writing emails to everyone in her address book. I tried to open the email, but it never opened. Would I still be at risk? Sorry to be so ignorant.

You don't need to do anything but your relative needs to react to this intrusion. It is very likely that it was the service provider that was hacked, not the iMac. It happened to me about one year ago, and my provider readily admitted where the problem started. The simple solution was to change my password. Suggest you tell your relative to do at least that, and to get in touch with the provider as well.

Error in the name of my apple id. After changing for the good one, never get the confirmation email

Hi all,
As I went on www.icloud.com, it asked me to switch my apple id username to a email address. I dit it but I forgot a letter, so the mail address is wrong. I want to change it but when I enter the good one, it tells me that I'll receive a confirmation e-mail to validate the good e-mail address.
I did this plenty of times over the 5 past hours, and I never got a email to validate.
Does somebody know if it's a server-side issue of if there's some way to past through this ?

Where exactly did you get this message? Are you trying to set up iCloud, iTunes & App Stores, just an email account?

Either it ended up in a spam filter or it isn't being sent to that address. If you can't find it, use the link in the 'Additional Information' section of that article to contact the iTunes Store staff.

Downloaded spam email problems

Email slipped past filters and was downloaded to iPad2. When I try to delete it, it kicks me out and closes the email program. I select the email, select edit, check the box next to the email on the list and as soon as I do that, it closes the email client and kicks me out.

Wrong email for new ID verification email, how can I log in to change the wrong email?

Just changed my Apple ID but after I was done I realized the email I used as my ID is wrong. Now when I try to sign into iTunes I am being asked to verify the new ID using the verification email sent to the new email, problem being that that new email is wrong and I can't access it. How can I log back into my account to change that email? Help please.

Did you get an answer to this? i have a new email and I can't verify the old one as it is blocked so can't log into it. Any help will be appreciated.... thanks

Tip - delete any email address code in the Insert email link prior to use!

I have been using the email link for a while now. I know its not secure, but in certain cases it can be used - I think.
Today I found a strange problem.
I have a recordset with lots of email addresses in it which are shown on an encrypted password and userlevel protected page.
The idea is to allow users with fully authorised access to the page to be able to email the other users by clicking on a link and opening their email client.
The email addresses are displayed as follows on the page:

So after highlighting and copying the php code, I click on the insert email link in the insert menu.
The insert panel comes up with some code in the email link field without me paying any attention to it.
I paste my code into the text part of the link panel.
It comes up with the following code:

Note that thre are now two different recordsets in the email address.These recordsets do exist on the page, but I did not insert the $row_joinupset['mail'] into the code - Dreamweaver did it.
Checking further, I find that earlier on the page I had created an email link by the same method using the joinupset recordset. The insert Email Link panel had not cleared the old email address from it's cache, so all the email adresses after the first one pointed to the same email address.
Because the page showed the correct email address, I did not notice until I tested my code, and found that every one called up the first email address.
I do not know if this is a bug in Dreamweaver, or why it happens, but it does.
Tip - delete any code in the email adress field of the insert panel prior to inserting the correct email address code.
CS5.5 on a 64 bit win 7 machine.

I have gone though this process yesterday and worked for me.
I would suggest you to have following things handy before calling Apple
1. Serial number of apple device which is associated with ur apple id
2. At least one answer to your old security questions
3. And you should be logged on to my account page of apple Id so that when customer care demands generation of 4 digit code you can do it.
This complete process is very simple but may take some time but apple guy was very helpful in my case.
Also remember the answers to the security questions are case sensitive.

Junk Spam emails why TB reads them at all?

I have used Pop Peeper for years and recently I decided to use TB. However, after spending many many hours reading stuff and working with TB, now it seems to me that for some unclear reason, TB cannot just ignore the "spam" (or junk) folder in yahoo mail, whereas Pop Peeper easily does this.
How come Pop Peeper can easily ignore the "spam" folder in yahoo mail, and TB cannot do that? Did I miss a setting/configuration somewhere?
When TB reads the spam folder in yahoo mail, it then shows the spam emails in the unified inbox, and it becomes a big head ache specially if one has many yahoo accounts.
So, the main question is this: why TB has to read the spam folder of yahoo mail to begin with?
And secondly, is there a way/work around for this issue?

If your account to yahoo is pop, Thunderbird can only access the inbox as that is the only folder that exists in the pop universe. So if yahoo place the contents of their bulk mail folder into the pop inbox it is something you will need to take up with yahoo.
If it is an imap account then simply right click the account in the folder pane and select subscribe and unsubscribe from the bulk mail folder.
