One Workcenter for multiple machines and multiple labor.

ZHi,
I have to map a scenario in which i have 10 machines, that do same operation, have same cycle time for product, same capacity. So i have clubbed these together and maintained "No. of Individual Capacities" in workcenter as 10 and created 1 workcenter (Z)
Now these 10 Machines have 30 Labors assigned to them.3 Per machine.
In routing i have maintained labor and cycle time of like 2.5 hours of operation 0010 for product A on WorkCenter (X)
Where do i mention that in this case the Number of laborers so that Product costing and Cost estimate considers it while costing?
I have already used number of individual capacities for clubbing 10 machines
I don't want to put cycle time as 2.5 * 3 = 7.5 hours because it would effect scheduling and it really takes 2.5 hours.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Dev,
If there are machines & labor capacity to be considered for Costing, you should maintain 2 capacity for workcenter Z.It is possible to maintain multiple capacity for same workcenter.
Also consider both machine & labor activity type for routing. This will help cost both activity type.
Scheduling can be based on machine as it can be choses on scheduling tab of workcenter.
There are standard formula available for schedluing which doesnot consider multiple capacity while costing & capacity planning uses same formula to consider multiple capacity.
Hope it helps,
Jatin

  • HT201250 Can I partition my external hard drive and use one partion for time machine and the other one for data that i may want to use in different computers?

I have this doubt. I've just bought an external drive, especifically a Seagate GoFlex Desk 3 tb.
I want to know if it is recomendable to make a partion exclusively for time machine and let another one so I can put there music, photos, videos, etc that I should need to use or copy to another computer.
May half and half, 1.5 tb for time machine and 1.5 tb for data.
I have an internal hard drive of 500 GB (499.25 GB) in my macbook pro.
    Any recommendation?

As I said, yes. Be sure your Time Machine partition has at least 1 TB for backups.
    1. Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to two (2). Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.

Buy one hard drive for TimeMachine, large as possible for maximum amount of saved states, keep it connected more often so it updates more often to recover deleted files.
Buy one hard drive the same size or slightly larger to clone your boot drive to it, it will be a hold option key bootable clone in case your boot drive fails to boot. Update it before doing anything major to your machine. Keep it disconnected in case of malware so it doesn't get infected or delete your files.
Buy one hard drive for extra storage if your boot drive is getting full for instance.
Buy one hard drive to backup the extra storage drive and treat it like the clone, make sure you have clean extra storage drive before connecting and updating it.
Label and date each drive, your memory will fail you and you'll accidentally overwrite a drive.
Keep your drives separate and in their respective purposes, in other words do not use partitions or use TimeMachine to backup other drives.
Never use Filevault, it's cracked, it's worthless, impossible to recover data and you'll have to give up the password for repair or customs/searches anyway. Use a external hardware based encrypted drives and USB Iron Keys. This way your sensitive data is off the machine and can be used with another machine.
Despite how many drives and backups, it's good to also make burned and labeled DVD's of your most important files like music for instance when you first get them. It's because sectors fail on hard drives and takes out your data and thus on all backups made afterwards. With burned DVD's it's permanent, unless you scratch it, melt it or loose it.
Hardware also fails, more often than software because it's moved/abused while in operation.
If you lose your TM drive, you ALSO lose what's on the other partitions on the drive or data that TM drive was backing up from other drives.
Drives are cheap, data is not. Protect the data. Because it's a fortune trying to recover lost data off a dead drive.

  • Using external NAS drive for Time Machine and multiple Macs

I just installed an external NAS drive from OWC's sister company Newer Tech. It is 500g with ethernet and usb2.0 connections. It works very well with easy setup with Time Machine with no hassle.
However, in very fine print that I missed in the ad, it supports 20 computers but not for Mac only for PC. OWC customer service said I could return it but I'll keep it anyway since it works well but only for one computer at a time in read/write mode.
Anyone know of a way around this? Are there any drivers from other vendors that would allow this to be used with the multiple Macs on my home network?

Very doubtful, but even if there is a workaround, you do not want to take that kind of risk with your backups.

  • Multiple managed servers, Multiple machines and Multiple clusters

    Hi,
I have couple of applications to be deployed in high availabliity. I
have been a Tomcat/Apache guy so far. Yesterday night I read the whole admin doc
and tried some installations on the boxes. But have some confusion here.
Since our application is getting commercialised and I like to have 12 managed
serves on each of the three big linux servers and one windows machine as admin
server port 9002. 18 for each application in clustered environment. cluster of
    18 for each application.
    FIRST CONFUSION is
I want to use only one domain name. So I install weblogic81
on win box and call it dls and then I find out that I need to install weblogic81
as good as the one on win box on linux servers, not surpised, but during the installation
when it asked me for a domain name I was confused. No option to join the existing
domain that I created on my winbox.
Why??? So I type dls again.
Is there a way not to do all this as it may be creatign another domain and just
start nodemanager and not install domain at all ?
    SECOND CONFUSION is
When I was installing weblogic on win machine as admin server. I was given
options of adding managed servers and clusters amd machines. So do we need to
have all the managed servers already running before I add them here or I can do
    it later.
    Thanks n Advance.

  • I want to use my 1TB Seagate Hard drive for time machine and transferring files from Mac to PC.

For about a year I've been using my 1TB external hard drive for only time machine. To be honest, it wasn't until today that I tried to connect my hard drive to a PC and realize it isn't compatible. I read about partitioning the hard drive so that it can work both for time machine and transferring files between pc and mac. I'm not what you would call tech savvy, so I was wondering if I can get some advice on how to do this.
    Thanks in advance.

To do it, you have to partition the hard disk, so you will have one partition for Time Machine and another one to store files and use them in a PC and Mac. To create the partition, follow these steps > http://pondini.org/OSX/DU3.html
In order to read and write in the external disk on the PC, you have to select "MS-DOS (FAT)" as "Format". If you choose any other option, the PC won't be able to read your external disk. Apart from that, note that you can't use files bigger than 4 GB with FAT. If you want to use the external disk with files bigger than 4 GB, you have to format your new partition in exFAT, and you have to do it on a PC

You could use an application like CarbonCopyCloner or SuperDuper to copy them to the new partition, but it's probably just as easy to drag the files/folders to the new partition, then delete the originals.
and have all future storage pointed to that drive not the internal drive
You probably don't really want to do that. Files you're using will be accessed much faster if they're on your internal HD.
Another consideration is, you really should have backups of the moved files somewhere, in case you have a problem with the new drive. Although TM will back them up unless you exclude that partition, if the drive fails, you'll lose both copies.

  • Recommended configuration for load balanced Portal with load balancer, multiple gateways and multiple servers.

Does anyone have a recommended network, hardware and software configuration guide for a Portal installation running with multiple gateways load balanced (ie one URL) that talk to multiple servers?

    David,
We've used Resonate (software) to load balance the gateways. It allows
you to group all the gateways under 1 virtual URL and load balance the
incoming connections over each gateway depending on the rules that you
define in Resonate. Look in the SUN portal whitepapers there is one that
    talks about it specifically.
As far as load balancing the calls to the portals, the gateways will
automatically load balance across all the portals that they know about
using a simple round-robin rotation. You may be able to use Resonate in
front of the portals but you may need to activate persistance within
Resonate to ensure that the user always ends up on the portal that he
established his initial connection on (if you want that), check with Sun
    on this one.

  • I am setting up a time machine backup to a external Hard drive.  I want to backup by Mac book Pro running OSX 10.8.5. I would like to Partition the disk and use one partition for Time machine backups and the other for my Lightroom backups. How to do this?

I want to create a two partition disk. One partition for time machine, the other for Lightroom backup. Currently Time Machine is using the entire drive and it is doing the intial encryption and is about 29% complete after two days.  I've decided that I want to turn encryption off and partition the disk. So I do I start over?

With the external drive attached, open Finder>Applications>Utilities>Disk Utility.  Select the external drive from the list in the left side panel of the DU window.  In the main window panel, click Partition in the buttons top center of that panel.
Select the number of partitions you want and adjust their sizes.
For the first partition, click to highlight the partition, then select the format, Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and then the partition table as GUID [both of those are the defaults].  Click Apply and it will ask to confirm and erase and format that partion...oh, give the partition a name, like Backup.
Then repeat those steps for the second partition..and remember to name it...something like Lightroom.
Close Disk Utilitty and you are ready to send TM to the one partition, and do your backup of Lightroom to the second partition.

  • Planning for  product using multiple bom and multiple recipe involving SOP

    Hi friends,
The problem. Currently we have maintained single BOM and single recipe (The BOM and Recipe used for MRP) for long term planning run. The FMCG sector of Client requested to have multiple BOMs and multiple recipes in the long term planning run. I.e. The planning is done quarterly and they wanted to use different BOMs and Different recipes for each quarter. But since the existing system has configured to use a single BOM and a single recipe we have a problem to use the long term planning run with the current setups. The problem we have is in this ‘001’ planning scenario.
appreciate if you can help me how to accommodate multiple BOMs and recepis in the long term planning run.
    thanks and regards

  • Posting an Idoc with Multiple Headers and Multiple Lines

    Hi all,
I have a scenario like this fileXIIdoc
Invoice file comes in text file with multiple header and multiple lines like this
    111               aaa     13214234    US   (header)
    09082010     ABC    9999            A     (Line)

    09082010     XYZ    7777            B     (Line)
    09082010     PQR    8888            C     (Line)
I need to post single Idoc with all the headers and lines
we are planning to use Custom Idoc,Is this possible by having the header segment as unbounded??
    Regards
Edited by: Vamsi Krishna on Sep 8, 2010 8:05 PM

    hi,
    lets go again.
you have to edit the custom IDoc and change the ocurrance on the header segment. also modify the details segment adding an addtional field that identify which header that this detail belong.
for this case you cannot change the occurrance in SAP PI because you wont identify what i have told you before.  in PI apply to change the occurrance if you could send ONE Idoc Per Header.
    now is better clear???
    Let us know.
    Thanks

  • Can I use Time Capsule for Time Machine and a place to put my iPhoto Library

Can I use Time Capsule for Time Machine and a place to put my iPhoto Library?

Only if you partition the Time Capsure into two partitions, one for TM and one for the iPhoto LIbrary.  But you won't be able to backup that library as it will be on the same drive as the TM backups.
It's not recommended.  An alternative solution is to get another EHD, move the library to it and run it from there. Then TM can backup both your boot drive and the working EHD drive.
