One workflow, edited by multiple users

Hi,
can anyone tell me if it is possible to have one workflowtransaction that is edited by multiple users? My customer wants the transfer workflow to be initiated by the supervisor, which will fill several fields, and then be sent to an HR Representative, who will fill another set of fields, and then sent to a payroll administrative worker who has to fill in the rest of the fields. Then it will go into an approval workflow.
The latter I know how to do, but I don't know if you can have multiple roles into one workflow.

An approver can update the transaction if the Edit Transaction profiles are set to Yes.
Please note, it is not function specific . So, all functions with HRSSA workflow will be enabled for edit by approvers.
I don't remember the profiles names now, but SSHR Implementation guide has the details.

You could always allocate a number to multiple business accounts in Skype Manager. Then re-direct the number via IP-PBX to go to different extensions.

Oracle Workflow Notification to multiple users but only one response required

Hi,
I'd like to ask help on how I would go about this. I have a requirement using Oracle Workflow. Initially the workflow sends a notification with the option to Accept or Reject to a group of people, then if one accepts I should end the process. But if all rejects, then send a notification to the Manager.
I used a Loop Timer to loop through the members of the group but I noticed that one needs to reply before the next one gets notified and so on.
I thought of using adhoc role then adding all members to this role. But not sure how to catch if one accepts or all rejects.
Appreciate any suggestions.

Sharing one iphoto library between multiple user accounts

I hav an extensive photo library and would like to share this across multiple users on the one computer. Am I able to do this without having to move the library to an external hard drive?

What you mean by 'share'.
If you want the other user to be able to see the pics, but not add to, change or alter your library, then enable Sharing in your iPhoto (Preferences -> Sharing), leave iPhoto running and use Fast User Switching to open the other account. In that account, enable 'Look For Shared Libraries'. Your Library will appear in the other source pane.
Any user can drag a pic from the Shared Library to their own in the iPhoto Window.
Remember iPhoto must be running in both accounts for this to work.
If you want the other user to have the same access to the library as you: to be able to add, edit, organise, keyword etc. The problem here is that OS X works very hard to keep your data safe and secure from the other users. You're trying to beat what's built in to the system. So, to beat the system
Quit iPhoto in both accounts
Move the iPhoto Library Folder to an external HD set to ignore permissions. You could also use a Disk Image or even partition your Hard Disk.
In each account in turn: Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting dialogue, select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new library location. From that point on, this will be the default library location. Both accounts will have full access to the library, in fact, both accounts will 'own' it.
However, there is a catch with this system and it is a significant one. iPhoto is not a multi-user app., it does not have the code to negotiate two users simultaneously writing to the database, and trying will cause db corruption. So only one user at a time, and back up, back up back up.
Lastly: This method seems a little clunky at first, but works very well. Most importantly, it uses the System to do the job for you.
Create a new Account on your Mac, call it Media. Create an iPhoto Library there. (BTW: This will work for iTunes too.)
Enable Sharing on the Library:(Preferences -> Sharing), leave iPhoto running and use Fast User Switching to open the other accounts. In those accounts, enable 'Look For Shared Libraries'. The Library will appear in the other source pane.
This means that both users will be able to see the pics. If you want to use a pic then simply drag it from the shared Library to your own in the iPhoto Window. This means that each user can have their own edits.
If you want to add photos to the Library: Log into the Media account for that purpose.
To make it all seamless: Set your Mac to log into the Media Account automatically. Set iPhoto to launch on log-in. Then switch to your own account using Fast User Switching.
Net result: a Library that's permanently available to all users but also protected. Each user can have their own versions of the pics if they want.
No partitioning, no permissions issues. Uses no extra disk space. What's not to like?

Documents edited by multiple users reverting changes to previous versions

Hi All,
I've got a problem where multiple users are working with the same network-stored file (but not simultaneously) wherein one makes edits and saves their changes. Later, that same file does not reflect the changes--it has reverted to some prior version of the
file. Sometimes the changes are a day old, sometimes they're a few days old. I have no idea why this is happening or how to troubleshoot the problem. Anyone?
(Note: It doesn't happen to every file, and it doesn't happen every time.)

Based on your description, did you mean that this issue occurred when you edit a Document in a SharePoint Document
Library? Or just edit files which store in a shared location?

Meanwhile, please check if same issue occurred when just use one administrator account (no other account) to edit and save this

There are no error messages. The file saves normally and silently. I will test with a sole admin account
today and report back.
In addition, would you please let me know the file type? Were all .txt files or .docx files? Please check if
this issue still occurred in other file types.
They are docx files only (so far--that's all we've noticed).
By the way, would you please let us know more details of the server environment where this issue occurred?
It's a SBS2011 Essentials server. The files are stored on a shared drive accessible to a couple different
user groups. What else would you like to know?

We have developed a custom workflow and XX_APPROVER is the workflow attribute where we pass UserID, to whom notification should be sent and it works fine.
But now we need to have that notification sent to multiple users. What is the best possible way to achieve this?

Sharing one Aperture Library between multiple users on the same machine

Is there a way of setting up Aperture so that two different users on the same machine have full rights to do everything?

Thanks for the suggestion. It certanly better than nothing, but in my case there is no partition with permissions off and there are other users to whom I wouldn't want to give full rights to the library. As an alternative I thought of simply creating a special user and do all editing from it.
At any rate, it would have been useful if Aperture had something like that built in - like a preferences option, where one could specify a MacOS group name, and Aperture would do all its file/folder create operations within a given library with setgid()/setegid() of that group and corresponding umask() to give rw permissions to that group. Not too hard to do, either.

Need help with setting up a photolibrary on server that can be accessed/edited by multiple users

I would like to develop an in-house photolibrary for our graphics department. The goal is to be able to add keywords to all our images so that we could have a more dynamic means of searching through our countless scanned images. Lightroom works great with regards to keywording and searching.
To make it so all the computers in our office could have access to the images, I created a photolibrary on our server that can be accessed by any of the computers in our graphics dept. However, when one computer adds keywords to an image, that info does not show up on any of the other computers. Perhaps this is an issue with the trial version and we need to get the license? A few other people suggested that it might have something to do with my export settings - I tried to play around with the settings but had little luck...Any Advise?

Thanks for your thorough reply. Is there a way to have one MASTER computer that could create the keywords and have the other computers access the master computer's catlogues - or something of that sort. We are small graphics dept. with three people so even that would suffice.
Lightroom is not a networked application, and cannot be set up so that multiple computers can access LR via a network.
The only real workaround with LR is to put the catalog and photos on an external HD and then physically connect the external HD to the computer of the person wanting to use it. So only one person can use the catalog at one time.
You can look up Digital Asset Management (DAM) software on Google if you really need to have multi-user access and networked.

How do I use one downloads folder for multiple users?

I recently added my girlfriend a profile in my Imac. We both have seperate Profiles and logins however I would like to find out, if the the Downloads folder can be used by both profiles. I found that each profile has their own Downloads folder, and goes to their own locations.
I would like to find out, if its possible to re-direct my downloaded files as well as her downloaded files into just ONE "Downloads" folder. The default destination of the downloads folder would be /users/girlfriend(name of girlfriend). I want to change it to /users/(me) so that all downloads would just go to one folder.

How do I share one music library between multiple users on windows 8

we just got our first windows 8 latop for the family. I'd like to have one drive that has the sum of all the music for the house, so I'm looking to cosolidate the itunes purchases, a few laptops, three shuffles, an iphone, and an ipad.
i'd also like to be able to let the kids manage their own lists in itunes from thier own user accounts, but not have duplicate music libraries.
Any good consolidation / multi-device strategies?

You would need to move the itunes folder to a location that both users have permissions to access such as the Shared folder or any folder on the root level of the macintosh HD.

Using one music library with multiple user accounts

I want to use one Music Library and be able to have all my computer user accounts be able to access it. Article 93195 does not work for some reason. It is easy to share music over a network but not on the same computer? This can't be. I have talked to several Apple "Geniuses" and they all scratch their head. One guy could do it in Leopard, but not in Tiger. Could it have something to do with the permissions of the Itunes Music Folder? Any help would be appreciated. This is driving me crazy.

1 Quit iTunes.
2 Drag your entire *iTunes folder* from /Username/Music to /Users/Shared.
3 Log out.
1 Log in on your other account(s).
2 Start iTunes and immediately press an hold the Option key.
3 iTunes will ask to *Create new library* or *Choose existing library*. Select *Choose existing library*.
4 Select the *iTunes library file* in the *iTunes folder* in /Users/Shared.
5 Now go to File -> *Add to library* and select the *iTunes music folder* located in /Username/Music.
6 - iTunes will add all the music in from this account to the main iTunes music folder/library.
7 Delete the *iTunes folder* in /Username/Music
8 Restart iTunes normally (don't hold Option). Everything should be there.
9 Quit iTunes and log out of the account.
10 Do the above steps for all users. Don't do the first 1-3 steps. Start at the second series.
Log into your account, start iTunes normally and all music should be there.
Whenever any of you do anything in iTunes, it will be seen by all since you are using one and the same iTunes library file.
Create a "main" playlist for each user with their own music. Create a smart playlist and set it to Playlist is not the playlist you created above. Select this and it will show you everything NOT in your playlist. Do the same for the others. This will help when adding only the music you want your own playlist.
Note that iTunes can only be opened by one user at a time. If you have Fast user switching enabled, the other users must quit iTunes in order for anyone else to use it.

One JACK server for multiple users

It seems that support for JACK_PROMISCUOUS_SERVER has been removed, so JACK only allows programs to connect which were started by the same user who started the JACK server. Is there another way to tell JACK to accept connections from other users? Or do I have to start two servers (one for each user) communicating via the local network?
Why I'm asking:
My browser is running with the permissions of the user "browser" to prevent malicious code executed by the browser to seriously affect my files. This leads to the problem that audio playback in the browser is rendered mute, as it cannot connect to the JACK server that has been started by my main user account.
Any ideas on how to make this work?

I don't think this was ever "supported". I somehow assume that the hack still works (with JACK_PROMISCUOUS_SERVER) but I have yet to go back to it since the last discussion about it. According to Torben H. (read the last few messages of that topic) it should work.
NetJACK works in a different way and allows different clients to connect, AFAIK. It has been suggested that some form of this exact functionality can be used in lieu of the promiscuous trick for JACK itself.
Anyway, for MPD, you can try the alternative setup.

One set of files, multiple users

I've seen a lot of posts on this, but I can't tell if any of the suggestions will give me what I want. Or if what I want is possible. So I thought I'd try to describe what I want to do in detail and see if someone can point me to the right solution.
I'm using iTunes 5. My wife and I each have laptops where our iTunes libraries used to live, but now we have a G5 (i.e. effectively infinite disk space) and have moved our libraries to it, and feed our iPods from it. So, we have two libraries on one computer, and probably 60-80% of the files are duplicates.
What I would like to do is merge these file libraries (by hand if needed, since in some cases we have different quality scans of the same songs) so that there is only one set of music files. But I want to keep our two separate sets of playlists, ratings, etc.
I would also like it if either of us could add to the library, although I understand this might involve resetting file permissions and/or reimporting the library occasionally. We could probably live with only one person being able to add music as long as we could each have our own ratings, but it would be annoying.
So how much of this is possible? And has anyone made anything like iPhoto Buddy for iTunes? Thanks.
