Hi okgames,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I know it can be both concerning and frustrating if your iPhone will not turn on or shuts off randomly. In your situation, I would suggest reading over the attached article and try the troubleshooting steps provided to ensure all steps have been completed before considering a hardware repair.
iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2802
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIsand corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.
Have a great day,
Joe

  • 4 week old Iphone shut down and wont charge or work in any fashion.

My new iphone  (4 weeks old) shut down today and will not work in any fashion. Will not charge, is not recognized by computer when plugged into the usb port. It is an expensive paper weight. I have looked at the apple website and tried all their trouble shooting suggestions.

try the force restore option, its perfect for your situation
try force restore in the following way
    1) make sure the phone is off
    2) Open iTunes on your computer
    3) press the home button and keep pressing it and at the same time connect the handset

  • Why does my 3-year old MBP shut down and not start?

I have a mid-2010 MPB running Mt Lion and it is giving me fits.  It consistently shuts down for no reason.  I have taken it to the Genius bar and been told that I should add additional memory, so I have doubled the RAM with a new unit.  The problem is that did nothing.  I keep having to restart and now it seems not to want to start at all, so I can't do anything or learn anything.  I have the basic MBP but I have 2011 Office for Mac and the other basic apps on board.  Any ideas?

  • My one year old disabled my iphone 5 so i need to "connect it to itunes" as the screen directs. I know how to do this with my laptop but it says i will be doing a factory reset. is there any way to get my phone open without losing everything?

Long story short, my one year old disabled my iphone5 and I need to "connect to itunes" as the screen instructs. I went through the steps and it says that I will be doing a factory reset and I will lose everything. Is there any way to get my phone open without losing everything?? I'm mainly concerned about my pictures and videos.

  • One year old today

Well, y'all... it has been a good year with this little MacBook. As of today, my computer is one year old. It was and has been a great ride and undoubtedly, of all the computers I have owned, this one has been my favorite.
In these 12 months, I have had two warranty issues: the battery recall by Apple, and the cracking keyboard bezel.
Apple was good and replaced both, and even replaced the LCD bezel.
But, during the first four months or so, I went through the birthing pains of the computer, its heat and we learned of the waaaay cooool SMCFANCONTROL program. We learned about thermal sensors. Many of us had random lockup issues, and just as many did not. Apple disabled a sensor or two and stopped most of that silliness.
We all went through the staining issues, some rather quickly, some not so quickly. But we all learned that we have rather dirty hands. We certainly have discovered that the case design on this nice little computer is really lacking in keeping stains away, so nice protectors became available, such as MARWARE's product.
In this year, I have been simply delighted in just how well this computer handles its rather limited graphics. It streams video exceedingly well, and can even handle a few games, just a few. I have also been delighted in how great of a Windows XP box this little computer can be.
So, it has been a good year. I really enjoy this computer.

    CONGRATS!
I just finally took the plunge and bought my first Macbook yesterday!
So mine is 1 DAY OLD! So many posts prevented me from doing so
indluding whether or not it was worth the extra $200 for a Black one.
I've seen both colors from dirty, messy white to oil smudges black and
decided the white one was just fine. And since this is the newest upgrade I knew the time was right for this revision.
I MUST ADMIT....I wasn't sure how happy I was going to be with my new
White 2.16 C2D SuperDrive Macbook but it is just flawless. When I spent the first few hours with it I wasn't too happy about what appeared to be uneven backlighting and even messed around with all the display settings. Finally, I used the advanced Display Calibration utility and the display is far nicer and the lighting more even than I anticipated it would be. Now it's difficult to detect light or dark areas across the screen and everything looks uniform and smooth. DVD movies look great on this too!
I upgraded the RAM to 2GB this morning and I am one heck of a happy camper!!! I'm desperately being overcautious about scratching this baby and next need to buy palm rest and screen protectors as well as a sleeve or case for this precious Macbook! Thank God all of my Apple computers have been flawless thus far and my iLife has never been better since the switch 2 years ago. Thanks Apple!

  • I just bought an iPhone 4S 3 days ago, but its battery seems to lose 1% every 3-4 minutes. I tuned off some location services, bluetooth, and even siri,  and made its settings similar to my two-year old iPhone 4.  The 4S can last much shorter.

I am having the exact same problem with my iphone 5.
I took it back to the Apple store 2 days ago and they gave me a new one, but they told me not to restore it from backup cos if something (an app) is corrupted it will happen again. The only thing they could keep was my contacts cos they did something there that allowed them to transfer them to the new phone. I went home, and downloaded only ONE app (facebook), and guess what - THE PROBLEM IS STILL OCCURING ON THE BRAND NEW PHONE! It is driving me insane as I cant get through the day without my phone.
Really hoping someone has a fix that will work

I think you can get Windows 7 for around $99. Install the 64bit version as the 32bit version will not be able to use all your new computer's ram if you have more than about 3.5gb.
Back up your quick books data now before the old hard drive dies. You can copy your data over to your new installation of Windows and quick books.
By the way, there is quick books for Mac http://quickbooks.intuit.com/mac/?sc=BNR-000-COR-quickbooks&priorityCode=4902000 000&cid=ppc_google_QB-Intuit-Core-Brand-Mac_quick-books-for-mac_exact&site=&ad_i d=9347918288&raw_keyword=quick%20books%20for%20mac
So you may not need to install Windows at all.

  • Optical drive on iMac at work, barely one year old, won't read CD's....disc utilities shows disc unavailable!  Rarely used and out of warranty, what a rip off!!  I have been on MACS since the 80's and things are getting more and more difficult

Optical drive on iMac at work, barely one year old, won't read CD's....disc utilities shows disc unavailable!  Rarely used and out of warranty, what a rip off!!  I have been on MACS since the 80's and things are getting more and more difficult to deal with. Why did it quit after barely being used? Any help from Apple?

It depends on what you mean by "barely one year old". If the iMac is only a couple of days out of warranty, Apple's been known to make exceptions and extend the warranty, though it's by no means guaranteed. If it's several days or more out of warranty, then Apple will fix it, if it's a hardware problem, but the repair won't be free. This is no different now then it would have been with a Mac purchased back in the 80s.
Why the drive failed, if indeed it has, is impossible to say. Could have been a static shock, a weak component that failed when power was applied, or a mechanical fault in one of the tiny parts used in optical drives and hard drives that finally broke.
    Regards.

  • HT4623 iPad Mini - one year old.  Plugged it in to charge and now it will not power on at all.  I have tried different cables to ensure it was not a faulty cable.  What else can I do?

I have an iPad mini that is exactly one year old.  I plugged it in to charge it.  The next morning it ws completely dead.  I can't get it to come on no matter what I try.  I have tried a different cable to see if my cable was faulty, but  that id not resolve the issue.  No matter what I try, I can not get it to power on.  I cannot get iTunes, nor my computer to recognize it when it is plugged in.
Has anyone else had this issue?  What can I do?  Any help would be appreciated!

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430

  • I bought my iPhone 5 from Australia one year old can it be exchanged or can body be changed

I bought my iPhone 5 from Australia, one year old now it's got cracked from back sides can it be exchanged or can i get off on iPhone 5s if I return this!!! Or can the body be changed

Apple will offer you an out of warranty replacement, cost is US $269. You will get exactly what you have now...same model, color & size.
Be aware, if you purchased the phone in Australia, you can only do an out of warranty exchange in Australia.

  • I have a one year old Macbook Air 13.  I have a brand new 22" external monitor.  When I connect my  external monitor it initially provides a nice display - very accurate and  no distortions.  But, within a few minutes the screen begins a incessant series

I have a one year old Macbook Air 13.  I have a brand new 22" external monitor.  In turning the Macbook and monitor on, the monitor displays very well, but within a few minutes it begins this incessant blinking (temporary black out of the screen that lasts anywhere from 1-5 seconds).  This has been going on for a long time (it also happended with my older monitor which apparantly I threw out when I should have kept it thinking it was the problem).  From reading various blogs in the Apple support community, this appears to be a widespread problem, but I don't find a solution, only a lot of speculation.  I'm very surprised the Apple folks haven't figured this out.   As a new Apple user, heretofor, I have been very impressed with the support and effort to get fixes out to users.  This, however, has me frustrated to the point of junking my Mac and going back to a PC.  I love the Macbook Air and most of the functionality, but I cannot function without an external monitor. Anybody have any ideas, please help.  Frustrated, Jim

Your dsplay is getting extended onto the external monitor. Chcnage the setting to duplicate it or only display on the external monitor and you should be fine,
Let me know if this worked for you.

@I run a Windows 8.1 -  Photoshop CS5 under Parallels on an iMac one year old and both having the latest OS. I use a NIK plugin "VIVEZA" which run fine for years without a problem. Latelt and without a reason, the NIK plugin has gone corrupt, (can not use it more the 2 corrections after a get a black background message that there is not enough memory) and the system stops running and a must restart is required. How do I fix this terrible problem?
If it requires a Photoshop CS5 re-install, (I belief that it may fix the problem) and re-install the two third party plugins (NIK Viveza) and (Onone Perfect Resize) how and where do I get to the proper Adobe upload page to do that.
    I have tried to fix this problem by changing the memory allocations, I have spend many hours on it and are very disgusted with it but it needs to be fixed. The current memory settings are;
    Ram available = 1588 MB
    Range = 873 -1143 MB
Recommended Photoshop usage range =  857  however I have tried every setting to max and in between. Nothing works. Current setting = 1588 (max)
The Photoshop I use is registered, I have product # and order # .

Contact NIK for updated/upgraded versions of their plug-ins.  They have been having a lot of issues with their plug-ins.

  • My iPad less than one year old, had battery fault , taken in and replaced.  Is the replacement new, no I don't think so but a refurb one. Also don't get another year warranty?..  Has anyone else had this?  Not happy

iPad faulty not even one year old......taken in and replaced.    Is this a new iPad......?  No was told. Old be three years old....why isn't it being replaced with a new one, with a new warranty....of another year.?  As they have only given me 90 days... Makes me wonder why.?... Have they no faith in their product...I am beginning to wonder..........
Anyone else experienced this.?.... Or any ideas where l stand.   The web site useless,

A warranty replacement can be a new or refurbished unit as specified in the warranty terms.
A warranty replacement will have warranty for the balance of the original term or 90 days, whichever is longer.
    All perfectly normal.
