Onedrive inside another folder inside another folder

I just upgraded to office 365 business and came to start to use my new onedrive for business. Thinking it would put the link to the drive on my desktop or somewhere like that, I didn't notice that it put it about three layers down one of my document folders.
I want to move it to the desktop. I tried and it said I couldn't move it but I would like to.
Any ideas?
TIA
Duncan

Hi duncanwil, at the risk of sounding obvious- did you try right clicking on the link and chose "create shortcut?"

  • Office 2013 applications crash when opening/saving files in OneDrive for Business folder

    My setup:
    Windows 7 64-bit
    Office 2013 Professional
OneDrive for Business (connected to Office 365)
    Issue Description:
    Example 1:
    1.  I create a file in OneDrive for Business using the appropriate web app (Excel web app, for example).
    2.  I edit the file in the web app, I save the file in my OneDrive for Business
    3.  I sync OneDrive for Business with it's local folder
    4.  Now I open the folder in Windows Explorer and double-click the Excel file
    5.  Excel splash screen shows up for a bit, and then Excel crashes
    Example 2:
    1.  I open Word on my Windows 7 laptop
    2.  I start from a blank document and create some content in the document
    3.  I use the Save As option under the File menu to save the file to my local OneDrive for Business folder
    4.  As soon as I click the Save button on the dialog, Word crashes
The same happens with all the Office applications.
    Important Note:
If I run the above examples with Excel/Word in SAFE mode, there is absolutely no issue.
What have I done so far?
    1.  I have made sure that the DisplayLink driver is the latest version from the manufacturer
    2.  There is no bluetooth send-to add-in in any of the Office applications
    3.  No add-ins are enabled in any of the Office applications (not sure if there are "stealth" ones that are not visible in the Options/Add-Ins dialog?)
Any assistance with this would be much appreciated.
    JeHarry

    Hi JeHarry,
Because I didn't have Windows 7, I did a test with Windows 8.1 based on your description. However, in my testing, everything worked well.
Please repair your Office under Control Panel, compare the result.

  • Cannot "Save As" any Office 365 Pro Plus files e.g ppt to my OneDrive for Business folder

Hi, I am unable to save any Office 365 ProPlus files to my OneDrive for Business.
When I am in the document, I select File | Save As, browse to my OneDrive for Business folder and Click Save. I get the error
"This file cannot be saved to this location because there is no connection to the server. Check your network and try again."
I can drag and drop the file into OneDrive using Windows Explorer and my OneDrive is Synchronizing files OK. This is happening to my collegue as well. Any ideas on why Save As does not work and how to reslve it?

    Hi,
Based on the error message, it seems that the connection between the OneDrive for Business folder and the library in Office 365 site does not connected due to some reasons.
I recommend to click the OneDrive for Business button and click Sync Now to reconnect the folder with the site.
And then check the status of the OneDrive for Business folder to see if the sync is OK.
After that, use Save As to save the documents to the OneDrive for Business folder and compare the results.
If above cannot help, I recommend to clear the OneDrive for Business cache and re-sync the library.

  • How to create a hyperlink to a onedrive file or folder without sharing it with anyone. (eg Create a hyperlink in Onenote to a file on my own Onedrive, for only me to use !)

    Hi All.
When I view a file in Word online the URL displayed is:
    https://onedrive.live.com/view.aspx?cid=53B31F7A44698440&resid=53B31F7A44698440%2130033&app=Word
Say I want to insert a link to the file in a website or OneNote page, such that it has NOT been shared with anyone.  ie Only I have permissions to view it like the file reference by the above link.
Can I simply use the above URL as a link?
I have used Ondrive sharing, but I think all the methods given result in the file being shared with other named people or publically.  eg like this one: http://1drv.ms/1zOli6p
...which when viewed in word online shows this URL:
    https://onedrive.live.com/view.aspx?cid=53B31F7A44698440&resid=53B31F7A44698440%2130035&app=Word
I have been experimenting and it seems to work.  However, if the above does work, what I don't get is why OneNote does not allow a link to be created to a file stored on Ondrive. (On my PC it sonly seems to allow links to locally stored files).
I have used GoogleDrive which allows you to select a  file and right click it to "receive a link" which you can use in the manner described above.  This is a really useful feature.
Note that in a similar way, I would like to create a link that causes onedrive to open and display a chosen folder.  This seems to work ok when I use a URL this one that only I have permissions to view:
    https://onedrive.live.com/?cid=53B31F7A44698440&id=53B31F7A44698440%2130031
    Any advise is really appreciated.

  • Onedrive renames library folder and can not be reverted

Hi, I have been trying to reverse the effect of moving the OneDrive folder into a new location. I somehow chose the Documents folder under Libraries, and now the it has been renamed to OneDrive and I cannot access my documents and I dont know where to
actually find it anymore... I have disabled OneDrive to see if that takes any effect but it is still named Onedrive not Documents... PLEASE SOMEONE HALLPPPP....

    Hi,
Before you move the OneDrive to the document folder, there should be a warning,"if you proceed with redirection you will not be able to separate them or restore default location", after a test, the result is as below:
Even we try to restore the location, it is not working, I am afraid it is not retrived any more.

  • How can I insert a folder inside another folder

is it possible to have sub folders
I want to create 3 main folder
    MainFolder 1, mainfolder2, mainfolder3
And I want to have 5 folders inside mainfolder 1
so when the user click on mainfolder 1 , will see 5 folder in it , not next to it
    sincerely yours
    Riade Asleh

So far I have not got any solution
i want a folder inside another folder
    for example
    i have to main folders , folder 1 , folder2
    folder1.top =25
    folder1.left =10
    folder2.top =25
    folder2.left =115
now, I wan a sub folders inside folder1
    subfolder1.top =50 not 25
    subfolder1.left =30
I dont' want the subfolder1 to have the same top as folder1.top
it's seems that all folders must have the same top value
because when I changed the value of the subfolder1.top to 50, the value of folder1.top, and folder2.top  changed to 50, in which i don't want it to behave like that
if you have a sample code,  please sent it to me
    sincerely yours

  • Issues when trying to setup alternate sync location of OneDrive for Business / SharePoint 2013 Libraries

    Hello,
I have an issue that prevents me from choosing the alternate location of sync'ed OneDrive for Business folders. I'm trying to setup an alternate location for synchronization, using the guidelines found in the Office support web site.
The option to replace the default sync location appears the first time a SharePoint 2013 Library or OneDrive for Business is setup for synchronization.
Here would be a link to a snapshot (since my account has not been verified): /Forums/getfile/443247
At this point, the Library or personal OneDrive folder syncs correctly and the files are stored in the alternate choosen location.
However, on when trying to setup an additionnal Library for synchronization, the alternate sync location has not been saved and reverts to the default sync location. Furthermore, the option to replace the default sync location does no longer appear
    on the dialog box.
Here would be a link to a snapshot (since my account has not been verified): /Forums/getfile/443249
I have tried by first sync'ing a SharePoint 2013 Library (instead of the personal OneDrive for Business folder) with the same result. Meaning that the first SharePoint 2013 Library correctly sync's in the alternate location of my choosing. However,
any subsequent attempts to sync either a SharePoint 2013 Library or the OneDrive for Business folder results in them being sync'ed to the original default location in a folder under the user's profile directory.
    I'm using Office Professional Plus 2013 (64bits). The version of Groove.exe is 15.0.4605.1000 (12th March 2014 - 13 383 360 bytes).
Is there something I'm missing ?
Thanks for any help on this issue.

    Hi SpringComp,
You can change the root path for libraries you sync to your computer, though you can do this only if you’re not currently syncing any libraries. If you’re already syncing at least one library and you want to change the path, you must first
stop syncing all libraries. Then, the first time you run the OneDrive for Business wizard to sync a library to your computer, you’ll see an option to change the location.
More information, please refer to the link:

  • Onedrive for Business, lost files

I am missing about 80% of content. Random folders and files have disappeared and are not available online. They are also not in the recycle bin.

    Hi,
If you are also using OneDrive for Business client in local, please try to cut off the Internet and check the OneDrive for Business folder, you may still find the files from the local cache.
You may also find the deleted items from "Deleted from end user Recycle Bin":
Site Settings->Recycle bin-> Deleted from end user Recycle Bin.
Please refer to this thread below for a similar issue:

  • How do I completely remove OneDrive

I would like to completely remove OneDrive from my computer, my Microsoft account and elsewhere. By “remove” I do not mean “deactivate” or “make less active” or “make less intrusive”. I mean “remove”, as in there no longer being a single OneDrive icon, code,
folder or anything else OneDrive on my computer, in windows or anywhere else
I am not using OneDrive and I am never going to use it, as it is too slow, too cumbersome, too intrusive and causing me to lose a lot of time.

    Hi,
Do you mind telling us which operation system are you using?
If we are using Windows8.1 and RT 8.1, OneDrive is  built into Windows 8.1. It comes with
Windows 8.1 and Windows RT 8.1 and can't be uninstalled, but it can be unpinned from the Start screen. Press and hold or right-click the tile, and then tap or click
    Unpin from Start.

  • OneDrive: Sharing a "Shared" file

I don't know if this is the right forum to ask my question, but I couldn't fine one specifically for OneDrive.
My friend and I each have free outlook.com accounts (with OneDrive).
I shared a file in OneDrive with my friend. That works fine. The file is accessible in her OneDrive.
She would like to share it with one of her friends that is not in my contacts. It is ok with me if she shares the file.
There doesn't seem to be a way to share a "Shared" file. Is there a way to do that? If not, is there a reason why it is not possible?

    Hi,
If you want to share the file with someone who is not listed in your contact, you can upload the files to a public folder, then get a link to the file, give the link to your friends\others, then, people who get the link will be able to access the item you're
    sharing.

  • Ask to OneDrive for business developers to modify a recently changed behaviour of application (since update KB2881087)?

    Hi.
Since update KB2881087, OneDrive for business application has started behaving in a problematic way. Is there a way to report/ask to OneDrive for business developers to restore old behaviour?
    All problem is explained at
    http://community.office365.com/en-us/f/156/p/254376/790491.aspx#790491
The problem is that before that update (win 7 64 bit ultimate edition en-US), if the startup folder link was removed, that link did not reappear (link inserted only at first folder sync). After that update, the program checks the startup folder link existence
and if not present, re-creates it. I use bitlocker in just one partition, where I put the sync folder. After that update I have to remember to delete the link every time I shut down the computer in order to avoid the OneDrive for business job deletion at next
startup when the program does not find the folder (protected into bitlocker).
I need to deploy OneDrive for business into my organization but this problem prevents this.
I would suggest to developers, as told in the office365 forum, to remove the startup check or, better, to:
    - have an option to modify startup check behaviour or
    - make OneDrive resilient to folder not found behaviour (if it is not found, simply pause syncing -not removing the whole job- , waiting for the folder re-appearing, very useful if using bitlocker)
    Thanks,
    Diegus.

  • OneDrive for Business not syncing, stuck at "We're getting things ready to sync..."

I had a Sharepoint library synced to my desktop for months and two days ago my computer had to suddenly reboot. When my comp restarted I had over 1,000 sync errors on files in my OneDrive for Business folder so instead of going through each individual sync
error I stopped syncing the folder, removed it from my local library list, and tried to resync the same Sharepoint library.
Now when I try to resync it gets stuck at "We're getting things ready to sync..."
    Any suggestions?

    Hi  ,
According to your description, you had encountered a sign in issue for OneDrive.
You can clear OneDrive cache by following the steps :
    1. Open the Task Manager and end every Office process (MSOSYNC.EXE, GROOVE.EXE and MSOUC.EXE).
    2. Open Windows Explorer, navigate to the following locations and delete everything (files & folders):
    C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office\Spw
    C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office\15.0\OfficeFileCache
After you deleted everything,  you should be able to start OneDrive  again.
