OneDrive (SkyDrive) Sync

I have a Desktop and a Laptop both running Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit.
The Skydrive sync has been working great since 8.1 upgrade. Now the laptop has not updated any of the desktop files for the last few weeks. If I access the web version of skydrive all is up to date. I have run the SkyDrive troubleshooter and it says it has
fixed some problem but no it hasn't. The laptop skydrive reports that it is up to date as of x minutes ago.

Hi,
We can't remove it from Windows 8.1. However, we could disable it as below:
1. Open Local Group Policy Editor;
2. Navigate to Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\SkyDrive. In the right panel, double click Prevent the usage of SkyDrive for File Storage.
3. In the next screen select Enabled and click OK to save the setting and close out of Group Policy.
4. After that you should see SkyDrive is gone from Explorer. If it’s still there, reboot you machine and it should be gone.
Note: It’s disabled in the modern interface. The tile is still there – but it’s easy to unpin it – but there won’t be any access to the drive. You won’t be able to access any of the options either.

  • Onedrive (Skydrive) Sync issues through TMG

We are having a ton of issues when using Onedrive (skydrive) to sync document libraries with our SharePoint 2013 server behind Forefront TMG. Users will randomly stop syncing (with no errors on skydrive), or files will just sit there trying to upload. I
checked the logs on forefront, and see the following error occurring quite often for the document libraries the users are trying to sync.
12210 An Internet Server API (ISAPI) filter has finished
handling the request. Contact your system administrator.
We have an array of TMG servers that use FBA for authentication on the front end, then delegate using NTLM to the sharepoint server. The array is also setup as a reverse proxy, and is the only way the sharepoint server can reach the internet. We are using
the external host name (portal.domain.com) from TMG's internal adapter to the sharepoint server, so it's not a mapping issue. It's also happening on images and files that are less than 100KB, so it's not a size issue either.
I have tried disabling the malware filter completely, but the error still occurred. This is happening to multiple users running both windows 7/8.

I have no way to test this as our sharepoint server is in a remote datacenter, with no access except through TMG.
I did however get rid of the error by changing the authentication delegation method from NTLM to Basic. Since making the change, I have not seen any instances of the 12210 error for any users through TMG. So far I have no gotten any complaints/issues since
    making the change.
So it looks like TMG cannot properly handle using NTLM to delegate the credentials. This is the second time I have run into an issue where this was the cause, and changing to Basic was the fix (Completely separate issue with TMG/IIS 8 using Ajax. Changing
to basic was the solution given by MS support)... It's pretty dumb that a Microsoft security product can't properly handle windows authentication on the back end....

  • Domain joined Windows 8.1 using OneDrive to sync passwords across devices

Background : Domain joined Windows 8.1 devices using OneDrive to sync settings across devices, including "Passwords" under Other Settings. Domain user accounts are NOT local administrators.
Issue : When one drive goes to sync Wireless network security settings (passphrases etc...), a User Account Control (UAC) dialogue pops up from "Program Name : Networks" to enter administrator credentials. Domain users do not have administrator access
to local computers by strict policy.
The only way identified so far to stop the dialogue pop-up is to disable the password sync by group policy. However, that turns off ALL password syncing, including passwords desired to be sync'd, that do not encounter this issue.
Can the UAC be suppressed? Is there a way to NOT sync the wireless password settings?
Welcome any thoughts, direction, assistance, etc... :) Thanks much and have a good day!

    Hi,
I searched around but haven't find one way to achieve this, thus I'm afraid that we're unable to prevent the specific network password setting. the syncing settings for all passwords are combined together.
To suppress UAC, we can turn off the UAC under control panel\User Account or via GP  Computer Configuration -> Policies -> Windows Settings -> Security Settings -> Local Policies -> Security Options ,but we don't recommend this.

  • Can I make OneDrive Pro sync only ONE-WAY?

Can I make OneDrive Pro sync only ONE-WAY?

    That sucks. DropBox can.
We want to SYNC literature down to sales reps and not have the sales reps accidentally erase from the Cloud for all. Hence we want a one way SYNC to have them SYNC literature onto their computers for remote
    access to the files.
Surely SharePoint cannot be that far behind DropBox.
Is there no way to achieve that?

  • OneDrive (SkyDrive) only sync's to the roaming profile of 1 pc?

    Hi,
We got a problem with our Onedrive (we got the latest version), we make use of SharePoint 2013 and Office 2013 (we do not use Ofice 365).
The SharePoint libraries we sync are stored in our local roaming file, but if i log on into another pc these file arent in the local roaming file of that pc. Meaning i dont have any libraries synced and that means i have to make the sync connections
    all over again.
I see alot of comunity post that this is an issue in 365, is this also a problem with the normal SharePoint?
    Regards,
    Rob

    Hi Rob,
If we use another PC, then we need to re-sync the documents with OneDrive for Business.
However, the documents will be automatically sync to the local folder in the same PC, so we don't need to re-sync again in the same PC.
If you store the data in a network share, then you can view or edit the files based on your permission without re-syncing the documents.
    Best regards.

  • Office 2013 with OneDrive Desktop sync conflicts

I am using Office 2013, and I am on Windows 8.1 with OneDrive setup. I keep some files Offline and OneDrive syncs it for me which is cool. But when I installed Office 2013, when I edit Excel files, I notice that there's an Uploading to OneDrive message at
the bottom while saving. Then I was prompted with a conflict during the sync. Isn't this because OneDrive is already syncing it and Excel is syncing it again that's why this happening?
How do I disable Excel (or probably Word as well and other apps in Office) to stop saving directly to OneDrive? How do I disable the Office Upload Center that keeps on popping in the System Tray? I am already fine with the sync being done by the OneDrive
Desktop. Previously, there was an option to disable Office sync from the OneDrive Desktop icon in the System Tray, but it is now gone and I couldn't find it anywhere else. Where do I find it now?

To disable/configure this open up the Task Scheduler and click on the
Task Scheduler Library node. You should see a task here labelled
Microsoft Office 15 Sync Maintenance for USERNAME.
Disable the whole trigger (right click and choose disable) or change the Properties of this to amend the trigger that starts the job. For instance, you can delete the trigger that starts on user log on.
The other way is to find MSOSYNC.EXE and OSPPSVC.EXE on Disk C:, delete them:
    1. Open task manager and kill MSOSYNC.EXE and OSPPSVC.EXE
    2.  Search C: for MSOSYNC.EXE and note which one is the actual Office folder, then delete them all
    3. Go to the Office folder and create a MSOSYNC.txt file and edit it to put the quit command in it.
    4.  Rename the file to MSOSYNC.EXE and then change the permissions so the user owns it, and remove all permissions except for the user which should have all except WRITE.
    5.  Reboot
This method above is like cheating, you can make fake MSOSYNC.EXE and OSPPSVC.EXE so that they can't even run.
Anyway, Microsoft doesn't recommend you disable the Upload center.

  • How does one export Revel photo library to Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive, SkyDrive et al?

All my photos are in Revel.

The duplication is unnecessary. Exporting creates a duplicate of the file. So now you'll have a duplicate of a duplicate. Exporting is not "working on" a file.
No it's not merging, it's exporting from one to the Finder and into another. No matter what lose something. If you export the Original you leave behind all the work you've done in iPhoto. If you export anything else, you lose the non-destructive editing and the ability to revert to the original. With merging you preserve that work. Yes, you can trash the old Library when you have completed the manoevre but no it's not the same thing as merging.
    This User Tip
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4921
has details of the options in the Export dialogue. But in brief:
Current gets you the iPhoto Preview, used for sharing via media browsers. It's a jpg, medium quality missing metadata. Original gets the file you imported, unchanged and then you can export different version of the current version at different qualities. If you choose to export anything except the Original you do not get a Raw. There's no such thing as an "edited Raw", and you lose the connection between the original and the exported version. That means you've taken a non-destructive workflow and turned it into a destructive one.
The Tiff will certainly be higher qulaity and less likely to suffer generational loss in future editing but the file sizes are vast, often more than 10 times the size of the jpeg.
Put it this way, it would be cheaper to buy Library Manager than the disk you'll need to contain all the Tiffs. Unless you plan on a lot of editing, I'd go for a high quality jpeg as a reasonable compromise.
    To be clear:
So, I guess my new question is, how can I edit the Raw image and keep it in a RAW format that IPhoto recognizes so that I can reprocess without any loss at a future time, or is it that once you edit a RAW image, then it is no longer a RAW image?
Once you edit a Raw it can no longer be a Raw. End of.

  • OneDrive for Business not syncing, stuck at "We're getting things ready to sync..."

I had a Sharepoint library synced to my desktop for months and two days ago my computer had to suddenly reboot. When my comp restarted I had over 1,000 sync errors on files in my OneDrive for Business folder so instead of going through each individual sync
error I stopped syncing the folder, removed it from my local library list, and tried to resync the same Sharepoint library.
Now when I try to resync it gets stuck at "We're getting things ready to sync..."
    Any suggestions?

    Hi  ,
According to your description, you had encountered a sign in issue for OneDrive.
You can clear OneDrive cache by following the steps :
    1. Open the Task Manager and end every Office process (MSOSYNC.EXE, GROOVE.EXE and MSOUC.EXE).
    2. Open Windows Explorer, navigate to the following locations and delete everything (files & folders):
    C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office\Spw
    C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office\15.0\OfficeFileCache
After you deleted everything,  you should be able to start OneDrive  again.

  • Issues when trying to setup alternate sync location of OneDrive for Business / SharePoint 2013 Libraries

    Hello,
I have an issue that prevents me from choosing the alternate location of sync'ed OneDrive for Business folders. I'm trying to setup an alternate location for synchronization, using the guidelines found in the Office support web site.
The option to replace the default sync location appears the first time a SharePoint 2013 Library or OneDrive for Business is setup for synchronization.
Here would be a link to a snapshot (since my account has not been verified): /Forums/getfile/443247
At this point, the Library or personal OneDrive folder syncs correctly and the files are stored in the alternate choosen location.
However, on when trying to setup an additionnal Library for synchronization, the alternate sync location has not been saved and reverts to the default sync location. Furthermore, the option to replace the default sync location does no longer appear
    on the dialog box.
Here would be a link to a snapshot (since my account has not been verified): /Forums/getfile/443249
I have tried by first sync'ing a SharePoint 2013 Library (instead of the personal OneDrive for Business folder) with the same result. Meaning that the first SharePoint 2013 Library correctly sync's in the alternate location of my choosing. However,
any subsequent attempts to sync either a SharePoint 2013 Library or the OneDrive for Business folder results in them being sync'ed to the original default location in a folder under the user's profile directory.
    I'm using Office Professional Plus 2013 (64bits). The version of Groove.exe is 15.0.4605.1000 (12th March 2014 - 13 383 360 bytes).
Is there something I'm missing ?
Thanks for any help on this issue.

    Hi SpringComp,
You can change the root path for libraries you sync to your computer, though you can do this only if you’re not currently syncing any libraries. If you’re already syncing at least one library and you want to change the path, you must first
stop syncing all libraries. Then, the first time you run the OneDrive for Business wizard to sync a library to your computer, you’ll see an option to change the location.
More information, please refer to the link:
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-001/support/change-the-location-where-you-sync-sharepoint-libraries-on-your-computer-HA102893480.aspx
    I hope this helps.

  • How can i keep my iphoto imports and onedrive photos in the same place and synced to onedrive?

I currently subscribe to Office365 and use OneDrive to sync all my docs and files from my old Windows PC to my Mac (OSX Mavericks).
I have a tons of photos already on OneDrive and would like to so my PhotoSteam and also when I import photos or use iPhoto that it uses the OneDrive Photo folder/directory.
    Is this possible?
As a new OSX users I am not sure how to do this, in Windows I would have just changed the directory of the Picture library but cannot see a way to do this on OSX.
Any help and pointers (in as simple steps as possible!) would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Phil

Yes it is possible but no you really, really don't want to do this if you're using iPhoto.
You can't put an iPhoto Library on OneDrive. It's not a Directory, but a rather complex ecosystem of sql database, files, caches and metadata. Basically, you're trying to run a Mac database from a Windows disk and that's always going to cause problems. (as doing the reverse would too.)
You can (in theory) run iPhoto with storing the files on OneDrive but don't. iPhoto has no tools to manage this set up properly, and you're only storing up issues for further down the road.

  • SHAREPOINT QUESTION: One way SYNC of files from SharePoint cloud to hard-drive

SHAREPOINT QUESTION: One way SYNC of files from SharePoint cloud to hard-drive
How does a person enable Sales reps to SYNC literature files from a cloud library down to their computer,.... but then not be able to have them accidentally delete the files by accident if they delete a file from their computer and then have it
    sync upwards again.
    Permission Level
"Read" allows to download individual files but not SYNC down and there are too many files for them to go and download each file every-time.
"View Only" is only visible on the browser and not useful when reps are in remote parts of the world.
"Contribute" allows the sales reps to SYNC but if they delete a file from their computer, then it deletes it for all which is to much.
There must surely be a way to allow a one way (cloud-to-hard-drive) SYNC to avoid folks from deleting files.
Does anybody know how to d this or if not, how do I have Microsoft consider such a perceived weakness compare to dropbox

You can achieve the functionality which you describe using the OneDrive (SkyDrive Pro) in Sharepoint 2013. You can setup read only folders to sync to achieve "one way" traffic. You will need Office 2013 locally to avail the full features of
the coauthoring environment if you are looking into that as well.
Sharing with everyone (Read Only): http://community.office365.com/en-us/b/office_365_community_blog/archive/2013/07/15/ways-to-quot-share-with-everyone-quot-in-skydrive-pro.aspx
Some benefits of using OneDrive include the following:
Users can take their documents offline with them and have them synchronize when they are online again.
Users' documents can be synchronized across all client devices and servers where the files are stored and synchronized.
Multiple users (online or offline) can work on documents at the same time, and the OneDrive for Business Windows Sync client will synchronize the changes between the users. If there are conflicts, users are prompted to resolve the conflicts.
Users can share and collaborate on documents.
Users can work from many locations, either online or offline, and work from many devices.

  • Skydrive.exe crashes on Windows 8.1 Pro RTM

I'm trying to get Skydrive working on a fresh install of Windows 8.1 Pro RTM.  When I go to Skydrive (show my files in skydrive) via the "metro" app, the view is empty.  When I look at the skydrive folder in explorer.exe, it's also
    empty.
I went to a command prompt running as an administrator and ran "skydrive /shutdown" followed by "skydrive" in order to reboot skydrive.  When I attempt to start skydrive, I get two entries in the Event Log.  The second event
viewer message refers to a file named Report.wer that contains info about the crash.  I've attached the contents of both eventvwr entries and the contents of Report.wer.
I'm wondering if this has anything to do with Skydrive Pro being installed by the Office 2013 installer that comes from my Office 365 subscription.
Any thoughts on how to fix skydrive.exe?
    Thanks,
    -Ben

    I think I found a fix!
I went looking at %LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Windows\SkyDrive\logs and found some messages in the SyncEngine*.etl files in that dir.  (BTW, Visual Studio wants to open those *.etl files but it doesn't show anything.  It's easier to open these
files in Notepad and wade through the mess of hex.  Eventually, you'll come to readable text.)  The messages were:
    1) Failed to show/hide SkyDrive Shell Items, error code: 0x80070002
    2) Unable to correctly read and parse the ClientPolicy.ini file
A quick search brought up some posts complaining about the Win-X shortcut being broken.  (link)
I tried my Win-X key and it was indeed not working.  That forum discussion led to
another forum post about Skydrive generating a lot of extra empty Skydrive folders in the user profile dir.
These posts suggested some commands to run from an Administrative command prompt.

I ran the above commands and SKYDRIVE IS WORKING!!!!!!!!! :)
    Thanks for the help everyone!

  • OneDrive for Business

    Hi all,
We are currently going through a pilot of the O365 suite. So far, so good.
We are a large, global organisation with offices in regions where it can be challenging to get a half decent Internet circut (ADSL). ADSL isn't used as our primary comms method, but Internet traffic is offloaded to the ADSL service to conserve bandwidth
    on the primary MPLS service.
These ADSL services we have are already heavily utilised and sadly we don't have a great deal of budget for upgrades, not this year anyway :) My question is, with respect to the OneDrive, can the traffic this application consumes be controlled/throttled?
I've seen similar posts but none seem to confirm this 100%. If not how is the Sync process optimised, or is it not? :) and the process just uses whatever bandwidth it finds is available?
Any help on this would be much appreciated. I'm just about to get my company account setup so will be able to do more testing myself. I can find metrics and calculators for the other services (Exchange, Lync and Sharepoint) just not a lot on the OneDrive
    and how it works.
    Darren

Ok, MS have confirmed that OneDrive only sync's the delta bytes of a document which is a relieft. What about none Office 2013 files?

  • IPhoto & Skydrive

    Surprisingly this seems to work.
I made a mirror image of my Skydrive folder on my iMac and mba. Within this folder, I had my photos and videos organized by date and event. I then created a new iPHoto library and added these files as albums. I then let it sync (Skydrive). In the library, the originals are referenced and not copied to the iPhoto library.
Again, it's critical that the file structure is identical on all machines, I even made sure the volume names were the same.
So far, so good. When I first created the iPhoto library, it took a pretty long time for it all to sync. But once it finished, I was able to open the copy of the library on each machine. I can edit, organize, etc. and it all syncs (albeit slowly at times).
I have not tried cranking up iPhoto on both machines simultaneously and editing or organizing. I'm sure this won't work, so I am avoiding it.
After a week of use, I have two identical iphoto libraries and they are staying in sync without corrupting the database.

    >> Can Skydrive actually write to the database files?
I can go to skydrive.com and the iPhoto library is a folder, and I can browse the contents and see that some of the files inside the library are newer than others.
When I open iPhoto on either machine, just the act of opening it and closing it, causes the Skydrive sync app to update about 200mb of "stuff" within that iPhoto library.
So Machine B > Skydrive > Machine A does work. Although this was the one update that caused iPhoto to give a database inconsistent error. When it repaired, Skydrive sync app followed up with a pretty large update Machine A > Skydrive > Machine B. I closed down A, started up B and got no errors. I edited and imported on B, let the Skydrive sync finish, and shut down B. Opened A and no errors.
(Separate library) Aperture on the other hand always knows that the referenced files are not on Machine A and offers to find the referenced files. Then when I open B, all those masters are now on A, so I have to locate them again.
Still playing with fire, but interesting to see if iPhoto can handle it. More of an experiment now as the Skydrive update on the road can be so slow due to poor Internet speeds at hotels these days. If I forget to let it Sync at home before I leave, it might take an hour or more for the sync to happen -- which far exceeds my patience. Even if I do wait, I have to make sure I crank up Machine B at home and let it fully sync before I open up A just to be sure it finished while on the road. Not exactly seamless. Seems that way at home on fast wifi, but in the real world, not so great.

  • OneDrive as service without logging in

    Hi,
Is it possible to have Microsoft OneDrive running on Microsoft Server without a user logged in?
I want OneDrive to sync a folder even when no user is logged in, is it possible?
    Thanks
    http://peteroy.blogspot.com/

    Hi,
It is by design that you would need to sign in using a Microsoft account for you to use the embedded OneDrive application.
Windows 8.1 Can't sign into OneDrive accounts on different email addresses
