  • Windows 10 and Thinkpad Pro Dock problems

Hello, I just upgrade to Windows 10, I did a clean install and everything seems to work fine, but it doesn't. I have my T450s on a Thinkpad Pro Dock 90w, with two TV's plugged in on the dock: one TV goes on the HDMI port, and the other one on the Display Port one. The problem: windows 10 is not able to output any audio from any of these ports. Actually windows does not see any possible audio coming out of any of these two ports. If use the Mini-Display Port on the left side of the laptop, then Windows quickly finds the audio and shows it on the "Playback devices" list, but pluging any of the TV's on the rear ports of the dock, the system only finds a way to display video, but no audio at all.Btw, this very same system was working perfectly on Windows 7. Has anyone noted this? Is there any firmware update coming up to solve this problem? This is a big problem for some of us... thanks a lot!! Ivan.

Thank you Skoop for your answer!
Unfortunately no -  "Power on with AC attach" is disabled.
I didn't have much time today, but next thing I'll try is to update the BIOS and try another OS (eg a Linux live distro).
    I'll report on the results!
BTW I found another thread with exactly the same symptoms but unrelated to the Docking station:

My MacBook Pro is not recognizing my external hard drive.  The hard drive is listed in disk utilities but an icon does not pop up and I cannot access the data.  Is there any way to resolve this?

WE know Disk Warrior is more reliable, hence more useful, and should be in any disk mechanics toolchest.
For the record, I don't know anything of the kind. I have yet to see evidence that Disk Warrior is useful at all.
What I do know is that you seem to take every opportunity you get to promote it in these forums. Do you work for Alsoft?
Let me be a little more explicit. My opinion is that Disk Warrior is a waste of money if one has backups. If a journaled HFS directory is so badly corrupted that it can't be repaired by Disk Utility, then the volume should be reformatted and restored from backup, which has the same effect as running DW, but is probably faster and doesn't cost $99.

    Hi a,

  • Yoga 2 Pro touchpad not recognized as precision touchpad on Windows 10

Hi all, I was really delighted to see Synaptics drivers being available for the Yoga 2 Pro for Windows 10 on your site yesterday. However, I am really confused to see that the Yoga 2 Pro touchpad is not recognized as a precision touchpad. Does the hardware not allow it or is it Synaptic's fault or what else? I'd really love to have these settings: http://twitter.com/Daniel_Rubino/statuses/617023404911239168The Synaptics driver you provide doesn't allow me to change what happens when I tap with 3 fingers (btw, Cortana isn't activated by your driver anyway - it simply doesn't work) and I'd like to select by myself what should happen when I swipe with 3 fingers. Why do you stick to the Synaptics driver settings, if it's integrated into Windows 10? Thanks for any help and best regardsSebastian

Also, 3 finger tap doesn't trigger Cortana over here... Please integrate the touchpad into Win 10 settings and let Windows handle all the stuff.

  • Officejet pro 8000 not recognizing brand new HP black ink cartridge

Hi. My officejet pro 8000 is not recognizing a brand new HP brand black ink cartridge. The black ink indicator remains lit and it will not print. I have unplugged the printer, but this did nothing. It is wierd, when I open the door where the cartridges are, the light goes out, it only goes on again when I close that door. The printer was working perfectly until this . Any helpful hints? Thanks so much.

    Hello chx2,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand your Officejet 8600 is not recognizing your brand new black ink cartridge. I will do my best to assist you! Please make sure this printer is plugged into a direct wall. I just want to see if this makes a difference.
Next, please follow these steps in order:
    1) Remove all ink cartridges from the printer, then close the door
    2) Remove the power cord from the printer (Do not press the power button)
    3) Please clean the ink cartridges by following this HP document here. (Also, make sure you have completed all the steps from this document)
    4) Wait 60 seconds or more, then plug the power cord back in
    5) Wait for the printer to turn on completely, then install the ink cartridges
    6) Try to print a document
Please post your results, as I will be looking forward to hearing from you.

  • Dual Display on Mac Pro (2011) not recognized after Yosemite Upgrade

I have  Mini Displayport-to-HDMI adapter that used to work fine until I upgraded to Yosemite (now running 10.10.2).  Now during boot up the main display flashes looking like it 'notices' the 1080 display resolution then quickly ignores it and the HDMI output is not recognized in the System Preferences Display window.  This Mac Pro has two Mini Displayport ports and both behave similarly.
The main display powered through the DVI port works fine
    Any suggestions to resolve ?

Not sure how critical your dual display is to your work life, but if it is you may want to consider using a Matrox product. Google it and search their site for "DualHead2Go" adaptor. I've used their stuff since 2008 when I bought my MacBook Pro. Their software is always kept up to date with the latest Mac OS. I have been VERY pleased over the years. Food for thought if you can't get your current system to function properly.

  • T540p - Thinkpad Pro Dock - 90w model 40A1009xx - SCCM 2012 r2 Task Sequence

My company receently purchased 40 Lenovo T540p and 40 Pro Docks
We are using SCCM 2012 r2.
I downloaded the sccm driver package for the Lenovo T540p.
Imaged the laptop and all seemed okay until I connected it to the docking station.
First off it would not recongize anything connected to the usb's so I reinstalled the usb 3.0 driver.
When I did that it did recongize usb deviced, but now the dock shows up as an unrecongized device.
Also if I undock the laptop and redock it I have to reboot the laptop for it to recongize what is connected to the usbs in the back.
Note there are no video problems.

We do not create SCCM driver packs for the Edge line of products.  As an alternative you can use Update Retriever to download hardware drivers for a selected model and then use the Export feature to create a folder containing the source files for the drivers.  This can then be used in the Driver Import Wizard which will locate the INF files and only import the files referenced by the INF files.
You mention you are using SCCM 2012 R2.  This means you should be using the Windows ADK for 8.1 which also means your boot images should be using Windows PE 5.  For your boot images you should be using the Windows 8.1 driver (http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles/herr01ww.exe)
In your OSD task sequence you need to be deploying Windows 7 drivers (http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles/her101ww.exe)
Make sure you keep these separate.  Meaning you should have a driver package for the Windows 7 drivers that you reference in an Apply Drivers task and this package should not include the Windows 8.1 drivers.  Add just the 8.1 drivers to the boot image.

  • T61P and Advanced Dock, not recognizing removable hard drive

    Folks,
I am hoping to get some help with my T61p and Advanced Dock.  The Ultra Bay in the advanced dock is not recognizing hard drives that are recognized although they do spin up.  The light comes on and I can hear the drive spinning.  The same ultrabay carrier works with the same hard drive when inserted into the T61p.  If I insert a DVD/CD drive into the advanced dock, it does appear and I can see it to eject it.  These drives were working in the advanced dock several months ago and no longer work.  Is there a set of drivers for the advanced dock or somewhere I can check to see what is there?  Any help or ideas are appreciated.
    Thanks,
    warren

So it looks like you do not have a hardware problem, since SeaTools sees the drive. Probably the 1.5 Gb/s jumper is not needed, though it's interesting to know that it might be if the drive is installed in the UltraBay (thanks globalkiwi!).
It seems to me that there must be a problem with the drive imaging/cloning. Another member is having a similar problem with their R400 and True Image. In that thread, ortegaluis suggested repeating the cloning process with your new drive installed on the internal SATA and the old drive connected via USB. Or is that how you did it the first time?
It might also help to download a trial of the latest True Image and give that a try... maybe Acronis has fixed some problems with SATA drives?
Please post back with your progress (and hopefully success). Good luck!

  • MB-Pro password not recognized, apple pw neither...ideas?

MacBook Pro isn't recognizing my password. Tried to reset with Apple PW, and won't recognize current Apple pw, even tho same pw works fine on phone, etc... ideas? thanks!!

If you're running Lion or Mountain Lion, boot into your Recovery partition by holding down the Command and R keys upon boot. Go under the Utilities menu and select Terminal. From Terminal type
    resetpassword
you'll now enter the Reset Password app that will allow you to reset passwords for any account.
    That should do the trick.

  • IPhone with new MacBook Pro - phone not recognized by iTunes

So, I got a new MacBook Pro and connected my iPhone to sync it with iTunes. But the iPhone isn't being recognized.
Anyone know what steps to take to get it to recognize the phone to sync? There are no error messages. Just a phone that doesn't seem to want to sync.
I checked the phone by plugging it into another lap top, and it gets recognized right away, so I'm thinking it's related to the latest iTunes or the MacBook Pro.
    Thanks!

Went to the Genius Bar, The tech decised it was a bad logic board. I got a new computer to replace a week old one. After going through setting it up again, I have the same issue. System Profiler sees that an iPhone is connected, but not iTunes. I can not sync to the new MBP. At the moment, I am syncing to my old MBP, just so I have the iPhone set up as I had it.
BTW, if you go through the "iTunes does not see iPhone" suggestions and enter DFU (restore mode) your iPhone gets bricked. But it is recoverable by using a different computer. I am currently trying a NEW install of the OS on the i7, but I suspect a hardware/driver interaction problem. I have no hopes until 10.6.4 arrives in a month or so.

  • CS5 -- Acrobat 9 Pro disc not recognized

PC, running Windows 7. I just installed CS5 Design Premium from the DVD and all seems to be well. Then I inserted the Acrobat 9 Pro disc. The drive spins for awhile, then I get a prompt to insert a disc (which is already inserted). Same thing happens when I insert the Content disc. Both discs are recognized on other PCs, and every other disc I have -- including the CS5 DP disc of course -- works fine in the same drive.
Any ideas on how to fix this?
    Thanks, John

I hit the same problem except I had a Reader X installed not a pro version.  For me the solution was to really make sure that nothing else was running.  I followed the steps from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2438651#reso2 the link is goofy so here is the pertinent text:

  • IBM Thinkpad T20 mouse not recognized

I cannot startx after running 'xf86config' due to the mouse (actually the little red trackpointer on the keyboard) not being recognized.  I set it up as a PS/2 mouse and per the FAQ added the lines in /etc/devfsd.conf to establish the symlink.  I've tried devices /dev/mouse and /dev/psaux to no avail.  I do not have an XFConfig-4 file that would take precedence over the XF86Config file I edited.
What would be the suggestions for next steps to the X up and running?  I'm thinking there was a module I didn't load, but offhand can't think of what it would be.
Thanks for any help on this!

I got it working tonight by attaching a PS/2 mouse to the PS/2 port, running HWD, and using the generated XF86Config file.  With the PS/2 mouse attached, it worked fine.  I'm not sure why attaching this made any difference, but glad it works.
Thank you everyone for your kind assistance with this issue!
cool, great you managed it finally ... can you please post the section "InputDevice" from your working XF86Config here? i wonder what "hwd" have created --- thanx in advance
if you have special keys on your Thinkpad (i dont know the T20, but a lot of TPs have special keys for volume, "home" ... ) and want to use them for something (e.g. you can run an xterm by pressing the "Thinkpad" button) on arch, you can try some packages i build for arch for TPs:
    tpctl (thinkpad control)
