OneNote Windows 8.1 App Changed to Chinese and Cannot Work Out How to Change to English

Since upgrading my Surface Tablet from Windows 8 to 8.1 the OneNote app has changed to Chinese and I cannot work out how to change it back.
Everything else appears to be in English including the desktop version of OneNote 2013 and only the OneNote app appears to be affected.
The tablet is set to English UK in the regional settings and I have already tired removing and reinstalling the app but it is still in Chinese.
I have just upgraded to the Surface 2 and after signing in with my Microsoft account, the OneNote app is in Chinese on here as well.
I have tried all the settings but it is a bit difficult as I can't understand what they say.
Any help would be appreciated.

I purchased both the Surface 1 from John Lewis (department store) and the Surface 2 from PC World.
The surface 1 was fine until installing Windows 8.1 preview and this is when it changed to Chinese.
The regional settings are set correctly to UK so I am unsure how to get it back to something I can understand.
The app is in Chinese on my Windows 8.1 PCs as well at home and at work but all are set to UK. It seems to change as soon as I sign in with my Microsoft account so I don't think the issue is a surface RT issue although it may have originated from there.
I have tried the option to uninstall it from all synced PCs and then install it again but it just installs in Chinese again.
OneNote 2013 doesn't seem to have this problem and it is only the MX/App version.

Are you saying you've lost the "Basic" tool tab?
If yes, just right-click on one of the other tabs and select "Basic" from the context menu that's presented.

Many thanks for your post. I've been trying for days to get this sorted and was getting well fed up with I-Tunes. Really thought i'd never get it working again. Tried un-installing it, loading older versions and they still wouldn't work.

Or did you mean you had downloaded it to your iPhone, and you were looking for the app in iTunes to activate it? If so, that is not where you would do it. You need to sign on to your iCloud account on your computer - that's where it is housed....

I have a window that is "AOL Instant Messenger Password" I do not even use this and cannot find out how to delete it.

I have not been able to find AOL messenger on my Mac mini. The window asks for my me.com password, when I enter it, it doesn't work, and when I hit the cancel button it will not go away. How do i get rid of this???

This is probably Messages. If you have ever used iChat/Messages with an old MobileMe/.Mac chat name, that is actually using AOL services in the background. If that rings a bell, that's the password it's asking for.
If you no longer want this, go to Messages, Preferences, Accounts, and delete any old accounts you're not using.

Hi I deleted my app icon on my Iphone 5S today and cannot figure out how to retrieve it. I guess its called the App Store.

I deleted my App Store Icon today on my Iphone 5S and I don't know how to get it back. I actually deleted it. Can I restore it or get it back somehow?

I don't know of any way to delete the App Store app -- it's one of the built in apps that isn't supposed to be able to be deleted. Have you checked in all of the home screens and folders to see if it is somewhere else?

in Contact app,people's Chinese name cannot be reached by clicking the alphabeta letter listed on right side of screen.

To fix contact lists i suggest:
- Distinguish between SIM read-only and read-write contacts. Read-Only contacts should be somewhere in; "Contacts->Settings->Manage SIM card read-only contacs";
- Add aditional contact groups, such as "Local Phone", "SIM (Read-Writable, not those read-only)";
- Support for gmail contacts group;
- Display group icon next to contact name in "All" group, or at least some info directly after taping a contact to distinguish between SIM/Local/Gmail contact;
- fix bug with hiding contact in Phone application when Phone or Gmail contact is linked with SIM contact and SIM contacts are disabled to display;
- maybe add some progress bar when copying to/from SIM card, it last a while and causes impatience

I chose small but am now finding that is too small. Can anyone help me set it to medium now? I can't find any setting for that. I'm a newby to iPhones and have no idea what I'm doing. By "sending" do you mean sending email?
If so, what app are you using to take the photos on your iPhone 5? Or are the photos from a different source (saved to your Camera Roll from somewhere else, like a web page or Messages)?
My guess is that Mail gives you the option to send different file sizes when it detects you are trying to Mail a really large photo file. The size of photos on the iPhone 5 is really big and some email providers may stop your mail from being delivered if attachments are too large. Thus, Mail tries to help you by offering to resize the photo.
I suspect that if you are sending smaller files, Mail does not bother giving you options to save a smaller version. In fact, I have seen this behavior. So, if the photo is already "small enough", it gets sent as-is.
To my knowledge, there is no global iOS setting for this. Some apps may have different rules, of course.

I just updated my itunes after receiving an alert through my windows 8. My laptop automatically restarts after an update to secure the changes in setting and applications. But a minute after opening itunes and its loaded, a windows alert pops up stating that Itunes has stopped working. How can I fix the problem without losing the music in my Itunes?

All of the apps I have found on the App store either do not have the text to speech capability or if they have it they will only read a page at a time or simply read the text you paste into their window. I really do not understand what is so difficult about having this feature as Kindle provides it--though Amazon does not make the feature available on its iPhone 4 app.

thanks. yes i am aware of the VoiceOver feature but it is NOT the solution to my problem. as you said, it is a solution to a different set of issues. i want the text to speech ability because i there are books i need to read but do not have the time to sit down and read them and have become used to listening to them read to me either by a professional human reader or with the text to speech software on the Kindle.
I think Apple makes the best audio devices but i am really disappointed in this inexplainable shortcoming. if apple can give us siri they ought to be able to design a nice little button that i can push to turn on text to speech while i am in a document, book, magazine or webpage. clearly it is possible as apple has added the "reader" button in safari to have web pages dropped into the reader format.

You can type the email using what you set in preferences and then highlight the text and use command - minus sign (or command - + for larger) to reduce the size of the text.
You can also type command - T and a window will appear allowing you to select fonts/sizes/color/ background highlight.
The above works in Notes also. I haven't tried to do this in any other Apple application.
For incoming emails, you can use the above to reduce font size, but I don't know of a way to permanently set the incoming font size to a default.

Use the trackpad to scroll, thats what it was designed for. The scroll bars automatically disappear when not being used and will appear if you scroll up or down using the trackpad.
This is a user-to-user forum and most people will post on here if they have problems. You very rarely get people posting to say there update went smooth. The fact is the vast majority of Mountain Lion users will not be experiencing any major problems with the OS, or maybe with apps which are not compatible, but thats hardly Apple's fault if developers don't update their apps.

What iOS are you currently running?
If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.1. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily. Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).
