OneStep: cant find imported footage (folder location of captured data)

Hi,
I have used oneStep to create a DVD, after it automatically imported the footage from my camera, I accidentally pressed 'cancel' durring the compression process, and it stoped. Now I want to recover my imported footage (about 1 hr of dv). Problem: I have no clue where the data is! I checked /tmp and its not there! I have about 20GB less disk space on my drive now, but I can't seem to recover the file or free up the space! I'm not even sure what I would search for!
Anyone have an idea?
Saul.

I had the same problem. I found the file using a freeware program you can download here called "What size"
http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/21149
I found the file under the private section in a temp file. I hope this helps.

  • Importing from iMovie 06, lose capture dates

When I import old iMovie 06 movies, the capture dates gets lost. Here is one of the original clips in iMovie 06:
However, after importing in iMovie 11, the capture dates are lost.  I tried many variations, like import the iMovie 06 project, or cd to the *.iMovieProject directory and import the actual clips, etc.
Now, good iMovie11 clips have the capture date imbedded in the file name (as in clip-2010-03-14 hh;mm;ss.dv).  However, the ones imported from iMovie 06 end up in iMovie 11 with simple names such as clip55.dv.  So it's not surprising I cannot see the capture dates in iMovie 11.
So I looked inside the *.iMovieProject directory hoping to find the capture dates either in the file name or in a plist, but I couldn't (nothing in the plists below)
    ... Jan 23  2010 Cache/Thumbnails.plist
    ... Jan 23  2010 Cache/Timeline Movie Data.plist
    ... Jan 23  2010 Cache/Timeline Movie.mov
    ... Nov  8  2009 Media/Clip55.dv
    etc
Finally, I opened Clip55.dv in QuickTime and looked at MovieInspector, but I could not see any capture date (similar to exif in jpegs).
So obviously I missed them. My question is where in the iMovie 06 project can I find them?   If accessible, I can write a script to fix the clips imported in iMovie11 by changing their names. I tried it manually, and it worked.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi - Couple of things.
Click on the offending clip that you imported from iMovie in your FCP Bin and type Command + 9 to see the item properties. Either report those item properties, or if easier, take a screen shot of the item properties and post that.
Then click any where on the timeline you are having trouble with and type Command + 0 (Zero) to see the sequence settings. Either report those settings or take a screen shot of the Sequence Settings window and post that.
In order for FCP to use the video without rendering, both the items properties of the source clip, and the sequence settings must match - and both must be within standard production parameters.
Also, you can click on the source clip in the FCP Bin, then control-click on the clip and select Reveal in Finder from the drop down menu. Once that file is revealed, open it in Quicktime 7 and see if if plays correctly there.
    Hope this helps.

  • LR4 imports videos but gets the capture date wrong (1-1-1970)...

    Hi,
LR4b on Win7 Home Premium x64, clean system reinstalled today.
I managed to successfully import my M4V videos (previously recognized, imported and managed with LR3) under LR4
even though it complains each time that Quicktime is not there (well, thank you for the info Adobe but this is on purpose that I don't want to install bloatware)
However, upon completion of the videos importation, no valid capture date is assigned to them, and they all show as 1-1-1970. Plain wrong. More tragically, files were renamed to this 1970 nonsense, so I lost the original capture date which was part of their filename. What a mess.
Each M4V video comes from a Quicktime Mjpeg .mov file, converted to more efficient H264 with FFMpeg.
Each M4V video has an associated JPEG sidecar (as originally taken by the camera) which has the correct EXIF capture time and date.
LR4 makes absolutely no use of the jpeg sidecar files, thus defeating their very purpose!
    My silly (?) idea:
if LR4 for whatever reason is not able to extract a capture date from a video file, it should at least try:
    1/ to extract the capture date from sidecar files, e.g. XMP or companion JPEG (which are indeed copied along, but obviously of no use to the software);
2/ to use as a last resort the file date for the video file (this is probably exposed to LR via filesystem functions)
Or perhaps just warn that files can not be imported since no 'date' metadata is retrievable... better than importing stuff with silly metadata...

    Hi Anthony,
If you drag a folder of images into the viewing window of iPhoto a roll will be created with the Folders name.
Same thing if you use "add to library" and choose the folder of images to import.

  • Viewing/Finding images by folder location

Is there any way to find or view images from a specific folder and it's sub-folders?
I've used the "Folders" view, but that only shows images from the folder selected and not from sub-folders.
I've used the "Find by filename...", but that only seems to search on the filename and not the path.
I've used the "Search" text box but again that only seems to use the filename and not the path.
I've tried the online help and found nothing helpful.
The reason for this is that I have all my family photos in a couple of hierarchies under "\\server\photos" and "d:\my_folder\pictures\photos", some club photos in another hierarchy under "d:\brownies\photos" and a load of other stuff (desktop backgrounds etc) in another hierarchy under "d:\my_folder\pictures\other".  What I want is a search term that I can save as smart album that will pick out all images from those hierarchies.  The best I've got so far is to manually tag each file using the "folder view" tree but this is not automatic (I have to do it each time I import pictures) and laborious (because it doesn't include sub-folders when you select a folder).
I'd be very grateful if anyone has any tips that they could offer.
    James.

No, that's one of the strange limitations of the PSE10 Organizer.  "Folder View" no longer includes subfolders, and the bizarre thing is that the Find...By Details (Metadata) query builder does not allow using just the path. (!?!)

  • Cant find motion template folder?

I'm a final cut user and to download this effect i am using (i have done it before, but got a new computer with lion) and the instructions say
    /HomeFolder/Movies/Motion Templates/Effects/SC_Effects_X/
I go to home, then movies then the only options are fcp events and projects and imovie events in projects. like i said before I have downloaded this before and I really need it back. Help?

You can create your own Motion Templates folder in the Movies folder and then create an Effects folder within it. Then add your downloaded effect in the Effects folder and FCP should see it. I don't know if you have Motion or not, but I believe when you install Motion it creates these folders.

  • ITunes Media Folder location - on a data parition

Hi, I use Mac with a partitioned hard drive. It lets me use a Snow Leopard and Lion. I use a third partition fror data, this is where my iTunes media folder is. iTunes Lion uses it just fine, but iTunes on Snow Leopard doesn't work that well - it can't access the iTunes media folder on the data partition.
    Opened iTunes
    Preferences > Advanced >
iTunes Media Folder Loctation > Change >
Data HD > "iTunes Media Green Folder" > Open > OK >
    Keep organized > Yes
...Okay so its now still not there urggh!
File > Library > Organize Library > Consolidate Files > OK
...Okay so its now still not there ...STILL! I'm getting upset and I want my music.
Can't you help? Thank you kindly

By organizing it should both relocate all current media as well as start using the new location from that point on.  You're mostly okay there.  Where you are not okay is iTunes doesn't look at your files directly.  It only really looks at one single file, the iTunes Library.itl file which tells it where everything is located.  You need to get both copies of iTunes using the same complete library (media + library file).  The way you do that is using the option start method.  You should only need to do that once unless for some reason the library storage drive is disconnected when starting iTunes, in which case iTunes will use the default location and you will need to option start again.

By the way, both copies of iTunes will have to be the same version or the library will become unreadable to the older iTunes.
There are variants to the above but I am not going to type in all the possibilities unless you say something that tells me you need a different structure.

  • "Cant Find Serial Number" for Lion Up-to-date program

    Hi,
I have purchased new macbook pro on 8th july 2011. I went to their website for Mac OS X Lion up-to-date page to fiil out the information regarding serial number and date of purchase. But it gives me error
Sorry, we can't find the serial number you provided. Please recheck your serial number and enter it again.
I have confirmed my serial number with Apple support page and it exists.
So can anyone suggest any solution to this ? Is it because of server overload or I have to call Apple Support to get the update from them ?
    Thanks in advance.

Yes, it isn't working for most people.  I spoke to Apple Online Gov't Sales regarding this issue where I recently bought iMacs... I also can't  get the Up-To-Date link to even recognize my serial numbers for the two iMacs I bought on June 21st.  Apple Sales was able to verify that my serial number were correct, and are aware that there is an issue with the program not propewrly reconizing them.  They said to try back in 24 hours.  I told them I had taken the day off specifically to do this redemption and download, and they gave me a $50 credit on the account I bought the computers on.  since they gave me the credit, I'll just go ahead and buy the thing in the App store and not worry about the redemption.

  • Preset folder location in Win 7

I need to move the preset folder to a new Win 7 computer and I cant find the
Win 7 location to move it to.  help?  jc

I guess you have "Store Presets with the Catalog" checked in your Preferences and your catalog resides on an portable HDD?
If you want to stay with presets individual to different catalogs, they'll always reside where your catalog resides.
    If not, you can
uncheck the "Store Presets with the Catalog" in your Preferences
copy the preferences stored with your catalog to the location you'll see in "Show Lightroom Presets Folder..." after unchecking the switch
From then on, you'll see the same presets with all your catalogs.

No. It is simply a conduit to send to other computers/iOS devices.
You really (really, really, really) should send that suggestion here -> http://www.apple.com/feedback/icloud.html
I have and I urge others to do the same.
Agreed!  It would be nice to edit photos from the website.  As it is, it's very easy to ADD photos to Photostream.  I use Aperture, and all you do is click a button at the top of the screen.  However, you cannot delete photos individually... go figure.  To me, this is a stunning omission and makes the service much less useful.

  • Where can I find my iWeb folder?

Hello! I cant find my iweb folder.
I tried searching in: Mackintosh / Library / Application Support /
    But its not there.
My Spotlight is not working properly either..
    I need help! :/

In Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
Where did the photos for the HTML Snippet slideshow come from initially?  Were they in iPhoto? Where?
