OneStep Doesn't Capture

I am using iDVD '08 version 7.02 to capture video and burn a DVD from my digital camcorder hooked up by a firewire cable. iDVD properly rewinds the tape but then several seconds after it starts playing it stops and says "nothing captured; capture aborted". I tried several times with the same result. There IS content on the tape so I don't understand why this is happening.
Any ideas as to what the problem is....
Thanks.

j/c ..... do either of you happen to have your camcorder set to HDV format while using one step? .... if so, one step won't work with HDV per the following article from apple's knowledge base:

I am testing an airline website that requires to choose a Departure and Returning Date from a web.button called 'View Calendar' which is a Java Applet. During recording, it doesn't capture the View Calendar as an object and therefore, i am unable to test the validity of the dates chosen.

I haven't seen an Applet module in OpenScript yet, you might have to use OFT to build the script

Reference SR 3-9765282261 : RFI Buyer Printable View report doesn't capture questionaire responded by Suppliers (@Bug/ER#: 20623991)
    Hi,
As part of the Business Process we submit RFI template for supplier to fill up the questionnaires. After supplier responded, the answers will be captured in Oracle SLM.  Buyer has the option to view responses in various way and format.  For the above case, go to Action list, select "Buyer Printable View" in specific RFI, the report in PDF format is launched.  However, only questions are available, it does not include supplier's feedback.  Is this standard function?  I think this is a bug though but I was told not

This is standard functionality, as the printed copy is circulated to the suppliers.

MS exchange account on my iPhone and iPad doesn't capture sent mail when sent from iPhone or iPad! Everyting else seems to work fine. Can someone pleasse help?

iPhone and iPad use a different way of accessing the server.
I don't know the exact details, but we are using Zarafa instead of Exchange and have the same problem:
iPhone and the likes can connect to Zarafas z-push interface, which is some identical interface to the native Exchange interface, while the desktop e-mail application tries to interface with the web front end (via http) of the server.
These are completely different setups and it depends on the actual installation of the server to get this going.
So, you will most likely need different access parameters for the desktop - and the web mail feature has to be enabled on the Exchange server.
In my opinion using the web mail interface is just silly. On the other hand, the native protocol has less features comparedto the web front end, so you are somehow stuck with sins of the past.
    Good luck!

My IDS Sensor 4.1 stops capturing events after some time. I don't know if maybe it is because there are a lot of VLANs in SPAN and the IDS doesn't support all this traffic. Am i wrong?

But i have already configured TCP Reassembly Mode to 'loose' and it does the same: after some time, it logs a few events and starts logging this event, but the Security Monitor stops showing me any Alarm. What can I do to solve this?
    Thank you very much.

When the IDSM2 starts crashing (i mean, logging only this event), i clear the IDSM2 interface counters and i realize that no packet are processed and the "missed packet percentage" grows and grows.
That means after this crashing it stops processing packets and loses every traffic it receives. The question is why? And how can i solve this?
    Thanks everybody.

  • Idvd onestep won't capture movie

When I hook up the camera with the tape and hit one step it rewinds tape and starts playing tape.  3 seconds in it stops and says no video captured, aborted.  Movie on tape is 2 hours 2 minutes long but I don't think the program knows that yet.  Can't change encoding yet either since it has not captured anything yet.  First time I've tried onestep.  Any help?

Just to add to the Len's good advice.... and after confirming you have at least 20GB's of available HD space, look for the following item/s.
    com.apple.iDvd.plist
Just copy & paste the above item in bold directly to the Finder (happy face on the dock), hit return, and then drag this item/s to the trash. Empty the trash.
Now connect you camcorder to your iMac via firewire cable.
Power up the camcorder and cue the tape to the approximate start point (manually). Keep the camcorder powered up.
Now launch iDVD6. And try the One step process again thru iDVD. It should work.
Hope this helps but if not, just post back.

  • IDVD 08 OneStep DVD Default Capture Folder Gone?

Was burning a dvd with OneStep - worked great, until I ran out of space on my hard drive to continue. The program stopped with the 'not enough space to complete the import' message, then froze. I forced quit, but it looks like iDVD kept all of the capture footage from the unfinished import in a secret location.
I looked in the 'Preferences' - "Advanced" tab for the OneStep capture location, and it had a strange looking file path listed: something like: /var/folder/E/+Emslkjrjslk98 (didn't write down the last part). I changed the path to my external hdd so I had space to capture, but how do I find this original default file location to delete the captured footage from before? (And no, there isn't a folder named "var" in the root of my Macintosh HD.)
Running iDVD 08, in Leopard, on a new MacBook Pro. Any help much appreciated!

iDVD One step stores the files in temp memory / location .... so you will need to empty the trash and shut down the mac. And then power back up again. Start again and make sure you have adequate HD space.

  • OneStep: Location of Captured Footage?

Can anyone tell me where the captured footage is stored when I use OneStep? Is it possible to get that footage and use it inside iMovie so I don't have to capture again?
I have not found a definitive answer on where it goes when captured!

I want to access the temporary files created by iDVD in this folder. However, finder does not show it. I used "Delete Encoded Assets" in iDVD. But, I know that there are still temporary files occupaying at least 8-9 GB space. How can I delete all temporary files of OneStep?
OK, I found it. Its in/tmp on your boot drive (or
whichever partition /tmp is mounted on).

  • Capture Now doesn't capture all

I just starting using HD. The Capture Now is not capturing the whole tape. Plus, it captures segments and numbers them. How do I get it to capture the whole tape?

If there are breaks in the recording, FCP makes new clips by default.
You can change this behavior in preferences:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TA23293?viewlocale=en_US
In general, it's best not to use Capture Now, since you can lose frames.
It's best to set an in point and and an out point, and use Capture Clip.
Here's some good advice on capturing HDV:
    http://www.kenstone.net/fcphomepage/capture_hdv_prores_fwbalis.html
Of course, you still haven't told us what format you are using.
You'll get better answers if you supply more details.
Since you said "tape" we assumed you're using HDV.

  • Final Cut Pro 5 doesn't capture when there's a break in time code

    Hi,
I'm trying to capture a mini DV tape using "Capture Now". When it encounters a break in time code, FCP stops the deck and the capture -- which is what I want it to do -- but I don't get a media file in my Browser window or in the Capture Scratch folder of the footage that should have been captured up until the break. What could the problem be & what is my fix-it?
    Thanks for any/all help!
    Natascha

Check the settings in User Preferences (General tab). The "On timecode break:" popup menu should be set to "Make New Clip" or "Warn After Capture". If its set to "Abort Capture" nothing will be saved.

  • Capturing now, doesn't capture anything...

    Hi:
I've got a problem capturing HDV footage with my Z1 under Final Cut 5.2. As I've got lot of Gigas of dsk space and didn't have too much time I made a full tape capture using Capture Now.
The tape began to capture and preview windows said that was capturing, but after the tape arrived at the end no clip appeared at the browser and capture files appeared at Finder unexpectedly small and they didn't even run.
Has had anyone else the same problem? What have you done?

I used the HDV 1080i50 easy setup, that is the way I shooted.
Yes, the video was showing during the capture, and told that was capturing, but after the tape arrived at the end nothing was captured. Even if you tried to esc in the middle. This happens randomly.

  • FCE capture doesn't capture HD signal, captures as SD

I'm using a firewire converter box to turn an HD HDMI signal to firewire for capture in FCE. I have the captures settings at HDV 1080i, but the signal comes in as SD. Basically, the capture sees an HD source, but the actual video has black bars around it to fill the screen. (See attached image).
Obviously I'd like to have the video fill the entire capture screen. Hany suggestions or tips would be greatly appreciated.

Your converter will output HDV in several sizes.
HDV 1080i is what your current setting is on the A/D Covnverter.
My suggestion is to set the FCE Easy Setup to HDV-Apple Intermediate Codec 1080i 50 or 60.
The 50 or 60 refers to whether you are a PAL or NTSC user respectively.
Start a New Project in FCE so the new settings are applied to the Sequence that the converted HDV files will work with.
The incoming files and the Sequence do need to match.

  • Mixing Down Doesn't capture all audio tracks? AA(cs6)

Hello all, I've got a bit of an issue involving mixdowns.
I've recorded 7 guitar tracks and have 1 bass guitar backing track, and 1 drum backing track set up in audition for a total of 9 tracks.  I'm ready to mixdown but when I go to do so the resulting mixdown doesn't have any of my guitar tracks and only contains the bass and drum backing tracks.  While in multitrack mode if I mute the master track I can still hear my 7 guitar tracks, but the bass and drum tracks go silent.  Is there a step I am missing somewhere along the line?

It sounds as if you have your guitar tracks Track Output is set to physical device outputs and are not set to Master.  Mixdown only incorporates the output of tracks assigned to the Master.  In each track panel, change the output drop down to Master and you should be set.

  • My FCS 5.1.1 doesn't capture more!

    Hi Folks,
This afternoon has been a real mess for my Final Cut Studio.
Everything worked, I digitized stuff and edit to tape; All Perfect!
Suddenly VTR doesn't show his picture. So I've tried to turn off everything to reset the firewire ports and delete the preferences files. Nothing.
I've downloaded quicktime again, as shown inthe apple site. Nothing.
I've already reinstalled all the Final Cut Package with no results and checked all the possibilties.
Please I've to finish a project, any idea?
    Thanks a Lot
    Paul

When the Devil puts his tail!
Re installed Quicktime again, solved my problem.
    Thanks to all!

  • Export doesn't capture entire Sequence

Yesterday it worked just fine. Today I edited my sequence and exported as QT DV NTSC (as I did yesterday). The sequence is only 10mins and the export only captures 8;30. There is nothing at the spot it quits. There is no marker, no edit, just part of a clip. I've repeated this and each time it exports to the same spot, which is not the end.
    Why? Argh Help
    FCP 6.03

I use 'Home' to set inpoint and 'End' to set outpoint...
Could be a corrupt file or render file. You might try using the Render Manager to delete all renders, re-render and try again.
What type of clip is it hanging on...video or graphic?
