OneStep DVD lost of sound half way through the tape

When transferring one of my mini dv's I completely lose all sound half way through the tape. This lost of sound also corresponds to a new scene in the tape. From then on all sound is lost. The following tape is done in the exact settings (surroundings and camera setting) but the sound is ok. FYI, I’m running at 16bit all the time. Can anybody help?

Just import your tape into iMovie HD and send it to iDVD.

- Are you saying that they are not listed in your Purchased section?
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
- Are they listed in your Puchases history when you log into your account on your computer?
- Are they still available now for purchase? If not then you are out of luck
If they are still available and listed in your Puchase History then contact iTunes

Has the movie file been corrupted? Can I recover the rental even though the time has elapsed? Will I be charged?

Did you figure this out? I haven't rented a movie in this new iTunes yet and saw one tonight I wanted to rent. Same fricken thing is happening to me. I hate this new iTunes, and I really hate that there are problems like this....why the heck do they have to fix something that isn't broken and break it? This just really stinks.

About all you can do is wait until it finishes or you get an error message.

Yes, in theory re-converting would lessen the quality further. However, I have heard people claim (unsubstantiated) that if you are encoding with the same encoder at the same bit rate, then since it will use the same algorthymn, it won't really change the file. I have absolutely no idea if that is true or not.
But... I figure some slight loss in quality re-encoding is still better quality than a song that only plays half way and then stops, right? I suppose you could always tag those files in the comment section with something like "Re-Encoded" and then later if you gain access to your old CDs, you can then make a Smart Playlist to gather those songs and then re-rip them again from your CDs.

I'm running Lion on a Late 2008 MacBook Air. With no other applications running, I can no longer Check for Software Updates. It gets abut half way through the checking process and then freezes. The MBA passes Disk Utility. Thoughts?

How long do you leave it?
Mine can sometimes sit for quite a while (maybe 10 minutes??) before it finally finishes.
You could look at the relevant logs via Console (Utilities folder) to see if Software Update is complaining about anything.

If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copies of the dodgy tracks and try redownloading fresh copies. For instructions, see the following document:

Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the items that are not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the items, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" links next to the items.

It solved the problem with my iPod. Had the same issue as above since yesterday. Thought my iPod broke.
