Onfigure a WAP54G to act as a repeater for my wireless network hosted by a Cisco/Linksys WAP610AP

How can I configure a WAP54G to act as a repeater for my wireless network hosted by a Cisco/Linksys WAP610AP
I am using ONLY 2.4GHz wireless band on the WAP610AP running Firmware Version 1.0.04
The signal from WAP610AP is weak in my home office and I would like to use the WAP54G as the repeater. Is this possible? If yes, please help!
TIA

This statement is according to the WAP’s user interface: When set to "AP Client" and "WirelessBridge" mode, this device will only communicate with another Linksys Access Point (WAP54G). When set to "Wireless Repeater" mode, this device will only communicate with another Linksys Access Point (WAP54G) and Linksys Wireless-G Router (WRT54G). In a nutshell, the WAP54G may have a big possibility that it will not work on that device.

  • Setup Airport Express as a repeater for Time capsule network?

Can any one provide detailed instructions, or provide a link where I can find these instructions?
Current Setup: TimeWarner Cable Modem/Router (Arris TG852) > Time Capsule router (A1254)
This has created two networks. One from the TW Router and the other from the TC. Even with both networks, I do not have great signal in the last two bedrooms, or bathroom.
    I have a Airport Express (A1264)
Can someone explain how to set up the AE as a repeater, and offer any advice on how my network "should be" setup? Thanks
In my reading, I believe this would be Dynamic WDS; correct?

Thanks for the link. It says the below is by far the best way to extend for N networks.
"For 802.11n Wi-Fi base stations, creating a roaming network is by far the best choice. This will provide the best throughput between the base stations and your Wi-Fi devices.
This set up requires that your Wi-Fi base stations are connected via Ethernet.
The primary base station provides DHCP Services, while the extended base station will be configured to use bridge mode.
All Wi-Fi base stations within the roaming network should use the same passwords, security type (Open/WEP/WPA), and network name (SSID)."
But, if my TC and Express are next to each other, how does that fix my wifi problems on the other side of my house?

  • Indoor repeater for cisco 1300

    Hello,
We have an outdoor wireless network working with two cisco 1300. One acts as a access point and the other one as a bridge.
We would like to extend the coverage of the bridge... Is that possible? There's one spot inside where signal quality is 80% good and where we could put an indoor signal repeater.
What cisco product could we purchase to do that ? (if possible...)
    Thanks,
    lachapelle

Anyone have an idea if this is possible and what hardware i need to buy?
    Question :
I have one outdoor accesspoint 1300, one outdoor repeater (1300) and I'd like to repeat the repeaters signal with an inside component. Is it possible and what hardware should i take?
    Thanks,

  • Setting up a AP541 to act as a repeater with a SA540W

I am currently revising a clients location for wireless.  A previous installation has a SA540W installed on the network and they have purchased a AP541 to act as a repeater.  The question I have is there a way to setup the AP (without a wired connection) to act as a repeater with the original SSID's coming off of the SA540W?

The Time Capsule (TC), although primarily intended for Time Machine backups, can be used by both PCs and Macs for other types of backups as well. The key is that the backup software used must be able to recognize/access network drives as not all do.
As an example, for my Vista PC, I currently use Genie Backup and have been successful in performing backups to a variety of network drives, including AirPort Disks (drives attached to AirPort Extreme Base Stations); however, I do not currently have a TC so I can't tell you 100% if there are any issues doing so with it.
On the other side of the coin, the closest non-Apple device that will perform similar Time Machine/Time Capsule-type backups is the HP Smart Media Center.

  • Use WAP54G v3.1 as range extender for WRT54G

I followed the protocol on http://www.amazon.com/gp/richpub/syltguides/fullview/1NZA81HP757TD for doing this setup. I tried to configure the WAP54G v.3.1 by using Fred's approach of connecting the laptop (with the wireless adaptor disabled) to the WAP and talking on the wired net adapter (on 192.168.1.200). However, I could only get the web interface in offline mode with no confirmation of the settings I made. When I connected the AP to the WRT with the wire, I was able to configure the AP as follows: I set the AP mode to “Wireless Repeater” with the Wireless MAC address from the WRT (from the Wireless Tab under the Status tab). I set the same security setting as the WRT (ie. WPA-Personal, Encription: TKIP with the same key phrase). The SSID is the same for both units with a 2 appended to the AP ssid. I did all this one time leaving the AP with Static IP address at 192.168.1.245. When I leave the wire connected I happily see and can connect to both the AP or the WRT. However, when I disconnect the wire to move the AP to act as a range extender, the ACT light on the front panel goes out and I can still "see" the AP, but I get "limited or no connectivity" and when I try to repair, it get's stuck at getting a new IP address. I get same thing when I removed security from the AP.

i updated w/ v3.04....all that's available on the linksys site... no change. and I was wrong above, it's not the Act light that goes out but the link. It's clear the WAP is not receiving a wireless signal from the WRT...

  • How Do I setup Dual Ethernet (Snow Saucer) base as "repeater" for Extreme

Just migrated from G4 iBook to an MBP. Currently still using my Snow Saucer (Dual Ethernet) airport base station (had to communicate with the Base using the iBook, and manually enter the MAC address of the MBP).
When I go to the trouble of setting up my Airport Extreme to become the base station to which my DSL line is connected, I also want to use the old Saucer as a "repeater" to get a better signal somewhere else.
Where are the instructions for doing this?
Also, I want to know if this may be a bad idea, because IIRC I read that if the Extreme detects a device using the "old" frequency, it will downgrade itself to that frequency, and I will lose the advantage of the Extreme for any devices which could make use of it.

However, extreme and express base stations can be configured to to act as relays and receivers for Graphite and Snow base stations.
With no setting or availability of WDS capability on the dual ethernet device, I fail to see how this would be possible.
Setting this up is fiddly because you have to configure the bridges to connect to an ABS via a MAC address.
And, the ABS must also be configured with the MAC address of the other devices in the WDS, but there are no provisions to do this.
If you want, I'll send you a link for MacTracker, which lists all models and specifications.
It might be possible to run ethernet from one of the other AirPorts, configure the dual ethernet version in "bridge mode" (if possible) and then have it create a wireless network. To be part of the "same" wireless network, it would need to be setup to use the same wireless network name, security and password as the "main" network.

  • Making a repeater for my network

Hi all, I have two Wireless G routers. One's a Netgear and the other's a Linksys. I have the Netgear as my main router and I wanted to make the Linksys act as a repeater. The model is WRT54G version 6. I can't figure out how to make it a repeater. Do I need new firmware? Is it not possible to make it one? Are there any other ways I can use these two router together to make my network better? I really would like to put both of these to good use rather than just using one. Thanks in advance for any feedback, Mark

That's correct. The Linksys router that you have is only an access point. You may purchase a range expander. I do have one, though it does not extend 100% wireless connection, it gives extended wireless connectivity.

  • Need a Repeater for stronger wifi connection

    Hi,
I'm new to wireless issues so please bare with me.
I have a MBP with snow leopard installed.  I have a boat docked at a marina that has free wifi.  If I am at the marina office, the signal strength is fine.  When I am on my boat (distance from outdoor wifi antenna to my boat is approx 100 feet) the signal is very and drops very often.  I was told that I need a repeater that will extend the signal strength.  When I went to the Apple store I was told that I could use Apple airport express, but that it only acted as a repeater if using other airport express or airport extreme base stations.  The marina uses a netgear R0318 router.  So then I was told that I need a repeater that is compatible with the netgear router and my Mac.  I saw this repeater:
    http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0355694
Would this do the trick?  Is there a better option?  I'd like to use the airport express, but it doesn't seem to work.  I also have an ipod touch and a wireless printer (Lexmart) that I would want to be able to have on the network.
    Any help is apprecisted.
    Thanks,

    Bob,
I suppose there is a remote possibilty that a user who is reading the Apple forums may have used the product that you ask about, but it's also more likely that you won't receive an answer, so you may want to post on the other company's website if they have one
The bottom line is this with any repeating type of device.....you won't know until you try. For that reason, it's a good idea to understand the store's return policy in case things don't work as hoped.
Even if the AirPort Express were compatible with the Netgear device, the correct location for a repeating device is about 1/2 the distance from the main router to the area that needs more coverage. A repeater or extender can only "repeat" what it receives. If you locate the device at your boat, it will receive little to no signal to repeat.
So, if you find a device (Netgear would be first place I would look to insure compatibility), you'lll need to think about how to locate it correctly.

  • XML INVOICE Report RAXINV, Taxline is repeating for each invoice line

    Hi Tim
Thanks a lot for your blog
    Greeting !!
I have successfully created XML report for AR invoice Printing learning from your blog but stuck to a problem , whenever Invoice is having multiple lines ,say 20, then for each invoice line there is tax line printing 20 times like this:
    PART NO.| CUSTOMER PART#/DESCRIPTION | UNIT PRICE | QUNTITY|
    A123 | 34 WELD-ROD | 52 | 22 |
    Tax Exempt @ 0.00
    A234 | 238-AL WIER | 63 | 55 |
    Tax Exempt @ 0.00
........ Assume there are 20 lines then tax line also repeating 20 times which i don't want .It should get printed only once if it is same
pls help me to achieve this
    Thanks
    Rahul

Thanks Tim for Your Instant reply.
I have gone through your duplicate line elimination but my requirement is not this
I'll explain it, I am using LINE_DESCRIPTION tag for printing item description and this tag have two value for it, when the LINE_TYPE =LINE then LINE_DESCRIPTION tag is printing the line description and if LINE_TYPE =TAX
then LINE_DESCRIPTION tag is printing the taxline information. Now if I have 20 lines in Invoice then the tax line will also repeat for 20 times, and if i use duplicate line elimination logic and I have same item it'll not print that item, some times whole invoice become blank.
So I want to print 20 lines and out of that 15 lines are have same tax rate then it should print once at the end of 15th line and for remaining 5 lines if tax rate is different for each line then it should print at the end of each line (5lines)
    In the linetreevariable i used <xsl:variable xdofo:ctx="incontext" name="invLines" select=".//G_LINES [LINE_TYPE!='FREIGHT']"/> i.e. I want only line type=LINE and TAX
    Thanks
    Rahul

  • I'm having trouble scheduling a "repeat" for an appointment that recurs, e.g., "the second Thursday of each month," rather than on a specific date.   It seems that it can only repeat a given date.  Am I missing something??

For iCalendar:  Is there a way to schedule a repeat for an event that repeats, e.g., "the 2d Thursday of the month."?  All I see are options that will repeat (every day, month, year, etc.) on a given date.  Am I missing something?

    loyev1,
There should also be a "Custom..." selection in the (every day, month, year, etc.) drop down menu. Select "Custom..."

As the King says, if your friends wifi router was relatively new, it likely has not been picked up by Apple's location based information database system and thus there is no location information associated with it.  So your iPad had no way of getting its location.
The wifi location databases are traditionally updated by wardriving - literally companies employ people to drive around sniffing out active wifi signals and associating an approximate location to it.  Some companies also have web sites to submit that information if owners wish to (Apple does not seem to have one though), and the various companies with wifi location databases buy and sell their information.  Bottom line is though, it can take weeks, months or sometimes even longer for a residential router to get picked up - depends on where you live (more rural, likely the longer time it takes).
When I moved from VA to NC it took up to 6 months for mine to reflect my new location (I checked it once the week I moved in, and then periodically thereafter, and it finally was getting it right after about 6 months) and I live in a pretty densley populated area (triangle NC).

  • Setup wired airport extreme (A1408) as repeater for TC (A1470)

How do I setup an airport extreme (A1408) as a wired repeater for TC (A1470)?

Power up the AirPort Extreme for a few minutes
Hold in the reset button on the back of the Extreme for 8-10 seconds and release
Allow a full minute for the Extreme to restart to a slow, blinking amber light
Connect an Ethernet cable from one of the LAN <--> ports on the TC to the WAN "O" port on the Extreme
Open up Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utilty
    Click on Other WiFi Devices
    Click on AirPort Extreme
The setup wizard will open up automatically and take a minute to suggest that the Extreme will be configured to extend the TC network.
Type in a device name that you want to assign to the Extreme and click Next
The utility will setup everything for you. Watch the screen closely to confirm that the Extreme is being configured to extend using Ethernet.  When you see the Setup Complete message, click Done.

  • Page headers repeat for every record on *.CSV export in Crystal 8.5

I am a MAS 90 reseller.  I have encountered this issue:
When I try to export a report to a *.csv format in Crystal Reports version 8.5 page headers repeat for every record in the export file.  The Sage MAS 90 database provides this solution:
This is a known Crystal Reports issue. Download U2FSEPV.DLL, version 8.6.2.475, dated 11/28/2003 from the Business Objects Web site. For more information and a download link, see knowledgebase article c2014451 at support.businessobjects.com
Note: Be sure to select the download link for Crystal Reports 8.x.
I cannot locate this download anywhere in the new SAP site.  Can anyone direct me to this download?
    TIA for your help!

I was finally able to get the uploaded file by right clicking on the file and selecting Save As.  However, when I replace all instances of this dll file with the new one (renamed as directed) I continue to get headers in the CSV file.
This does not resolve the issue of getting headers only in the output.  Is this the correct dll file or is there another issue causing this output error?

  • Repeats for work items with temporary errors for background WI

    Hi!
I have a task that generates a temporary error method in order to activate the Repeats for work items with temporary errors. It currently has 5 repeats at intervals of 2 min. After running above the WI-status is 'Error'. When Restart by SWPR runs only once and sends the message 'Work item set to error following 05 failed attempts'.
Please can tell me any way that when run again relaunch fixed repetitions.
    I welcome your comments.
    Thanks.
    Regards,
    Raisme Wilhelm

    Hi Raisme,
Please show me since it is the design of the workflow. It is probable that you are inside a repetitive sequence that send several work items.
    Best Regards
