please be aware that an existing acct in skype using your skype microsoft promos is victimixing skype accounts by means of making friends wirh contacts.the victims will pay money in return of the claimed amount to be given...im just concern about this.pls verify any acct like this and protect uour customers.thanks

Unfortunately, confirming many such scams and schemes are circulating around the internet. It seems no legitimate business is immune from being spoofed. If in doubt, always contact the company's customer service team to investigate.
One of my other favourite places to check the veracity of these claims - some of which are beyond extraordinary! - is www.snopes.com They do a fabulous job of tracking urban legends and other ridiculousness.

Hi,Yesterday This man contacted me: Lut.Gen Curtis Michael Scaparroti. I did not accept him at first as I accept only family and really friends in my Skype. But I got curious because of his title. I Google his name and found this impressive profile, in Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curtis_Scaparrotti I was so surprised. and wonder Why in the world this mand wanted to contact me. I thought: Is the State Department checking me out or something. I don't have nothing to hide, I accepted and message him to see why He was contacting me.
Then he start talking like babe etc. I knew right away he was an scamer and told him.
Any how at the end He wanted to propose a 60 40 deal, I told him get out of here! And blocked him. He Has this skype name: Lut.Gen Curtis Michael M. Scaparroti.
I searched more in the internet and found this link about a scam.

After I saw this link I remember a report on CNN or NBC News. He uses pictures from soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan..
Now He is using Skype as his tool to scam women. Hopefully you will be able to do something to prevent people to fall victims.

Thank you for your research, and for reporting this to the Community. As you know, Skype does have the Block and Report as Abuse feature; you may also report this to Skype Customer Service. Either of these methods will alert Skype directly to this version of the scam.
I would recommend changing your account password and performing routine maintenance for your computer as proactive measures, including running your preferred anti-virus/malware/spyware program using the latest virus signature files.

African Scam Using Skype

Hi everyone,
This post is about my encounter of an African Scamer. That is what it is called. I am not implying in any way that the Scam themselves were African in nature, race, color, or any other profiling. I want to warn my fellow Skype users about the encounter. There was a group of 12 all Skype users asking to be added at the same time. Before I knew it they were all gone except for one woman. I did not give it a second thought at first. She claimed she was taking classes in Ghana. It was a younger woman (29 she said) with a skype name of "vide.vide. The subject got around about her not having a passport to come to the States. That was when she started very suttel asking if I could help her out with the cost. I knew before this it was a scam, but don't be fooled by her. I said yes and ask how much and where it was to go. She told me she needed $500.00 and gave me a typical address in Ghana and the money was to be wired through Western Union.
One of the main reason I am reporting this on Skype is that I could not find any other documented cases of the African Scam. So there you have it. I will be reporting this first thing in the morning to the FBI or IRS. As of right now she believes I will be sending $500.00 via Western Union tomorrow morning to Ghana.

I would assume that Skype restricts the use of "*skype*" within skype ids to employees.

Can sign in with Microsoft Account but can't sign in using Skype Name on the website or desktop app.

I can sign in using my microsoft account, but I can't sign in using my SKYPE namehow to solve this? and why this is happeneing?when i ask for password reset, it actually reseted my microsfot account password, not my skype password, gave me real hard time signing in to my email account thinking it was still with my old passwordplease i want my skype name back. I followed the link, tried to reset my password by requesting forgot my password providing my email address the one is linked to that account, and said a link been emailed to my inbox. checked my inbox there was nothing in there, waited for hours, nothing in there, the next day I found an email with a link to reset your password, I clicked it, it says "sorry the link has expired" it seems to be a timed link. I don't know why it took too long to receive the email, I thought it should be instantaneously. but it didn't happen that way. so I didn't try another attempt till I ask for why it happened?

Hi, I have just installed Windows 8 Pro. The only thing is that when I go to use SKYPE it wants to use a Microsoft Account and not my SKYPE account. I don't want to use my Microsoft Account as I already have a SKYPE account and they are for two different things and I do not want them them to meet

From main page of NAV, Settings >> Computer >> Real Time Protection >> Turn Off Auto-Protect.
Reset IE.
Click Internet Options >> Advanced >> Restore Advanced Settings >> Reset >> Mark Delete personal settings >> OK >> Restart.
Now try reinstalling latest Skype with MSI link:

Is it possilbe to totally disable the use of Microsoft Accounts in Windows 8.x ?

The existence and need of "Microsoft Accounts" in Windows 8.x causes many issues for corporate IT management.
1) To access Windows 8.x Mail App, Calendar App, etc, OneDrive, Skype, to upgrade from Windows 8.0 to Windows 8.1, and the Windows Store requires a Microsoft Account.
2) Not all users have or will want to have their own personal Microsoft Account
3) It is possible for the corporate IT department to create Microsoft Accounts for each of the company Users, but it is an extra burden and difficult to manage these accounts.
Potentially the simplest solution is to be able to totally disable the use of Microsoft Accounts in Windows 8.x, is this possible?

You have the choice of uninstalling the metro apps ou use the GPO to block the use of Microsoft account.

Using Skype with the Mini

I have a late-2009 mini and would like to use Skype video with it. Anyone have any experience with this? As much as I can tell since there is no camera or microphone and very poor audio capabilities I would have to purchase a webcam with camera & microphone and an external speaker system. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

You would as you know buy a Webcam (and most webcams on the market have mics in them) Look into getting the new webcams that have HD video such as Logitech or Microsoft. I have used the Microsoft HD webcam on my 2009 mini and mini server and it works great.

How do I reinstall iChat, how do PC users video iChat with me, and should I just use skype?

1. I deleted iChat awhile ago by mistake. I searched ichat in Macintosh HD, and the only result was iChat the application file, but its icon is a faded out IWeb icon. When I click on it, it just bounces on my dock, until it disappears and an error message pops up stating it quit unexpectedly. I tried dragging the result to my desktop then redragging it into my Applications folder, but the same thing still happens (faded out iWeb icon instead of iChat icon, bounces, quits, error message). I also tried installing the iChat AV (forgot which version) and iChat Update 1.0 Universal, both of which said I had to have 10.4. I have 10.5.8. Also, if this makes any difference, the current faded out iChat in my Applications folder says its version 4.0.9. I do not have my reinstall CD, and do not want to call support and have them send me one. Considering I bought my macbook in late 2008, and my warranty is up, I'm pretty sure they wouldn't help me anyways. I also do not know of anyone who has a mac so the sharing option can be crossed offed. Is there a downloadable version of iChat for 10.5. users?
2. If I somehow managed to reinstall a working iChat, how would PC users connect to me and vide chat?
3. Should I just use skype? Would i have to download anything? Is skype video chat free? What are the differences between iChat and skype, and which one is better?

Reinstall Instructions
Be SURE to Download (Manually) and Install the COMBO version of the last Update to the OS you did as iChat will need to be Updated (Software Update will think it is already done and you need to Fool it)
Re 2).
In theory it is just a question oif you using a valid AIM name in iChat
This could be one registered with AIM or one from @mac.com or MobileMe if paid for or a current trial.
In Practice it can need a bit of tweaking at both ends
They Need to allow the AIM App through the Windows firewall as an Exception (AS with any Non Microsoft app)
They may also need to turn off the "Real Time" option that does not work to iChat and effects A/V chats as well. (It is Sending as you type). It will be in one of the Menus of their Budy List.
Post back for more if you get stuck.

Skype does offer free Video Chat and some people resort to it when iChat to AIM does not work.
It is free (At present - and you only pay for the Connection to and from real phones)
Skype was bought by Microsoft within the last week and things may change at some point in the future.
iChat has better Video
Audio depends on the capabilities of your Mac and their PC but is probably about equal.
Connection methods differ and iChat's Video and Audio Chats are technically more secure (you can in fact log out of the Buddy List as they adre Peer-to-Peer where as Skype uses a little bit of everyone's bandwidth (Between 40 and 100 other End Users)

Long sign-in time using skype

Hi!
I re-installed Leopard (10.5.1) on my Power Mac G5 and I'm using Skype 2.6.0.184. When signing in Skype takes about 15 minutes to finish the sign-in process. This is not a network issue, because unplugging the network cable does not change the sign-in behavior.
Does anybody know what slows down the sign-in process?

Did you mean after switch to local user account, it still took long time to sign in?
Firstly please disable unnecessary startup program:
1. Open Task manager;
2. Jump to Startup tab, right click to disable the unnecessary applications one by one.

I'm just adding to the message, you can only add one file. Just to show how microsoft has issues, whilst typing this there is a warning at the top of the page ' Please make sure you are using the latest version (currently 7.3) of Skype for Windows before reporting an issue.' The current issue is 7.4!

How can i use skype account in a tablet 8.1?

I've just brought a tablet with windows 8.1 with bing and i can't find the option to log out with my microsoft account to use another one in Skype. I don't use skype with my microsoft account and i don't want to merge those two accounts, in the future i could be using it.
So, how can i use two different accounts? (one for the tablet and another one for skype)
Also i have to say i have already linked a microsoft account to that skype account, & it seems impposible to link more than one microsoft account to the skype account.

SATA II is generally just fine, no fuss no muss, for the system. Using PCIe to boot adds problems and most if not all such PCIe SSD cards do NOT WORK in 32-bit Mac Pro 1,1 and 2,1 (and the 3,1 is also sometimes difficult with some cards).
Data uses though are useful, work, and benefit. Lightroom, Aperture, scratch, even iPhoto - all those graphic libraries.
I would rewrite and make it "will the native SATA II drive bays" work, and the answer to that is YES. But not faster.
You have a 4x and 8x slot, so one of those is fine.
It is the reads and zero latency seeks along with queue depth and high 90K IOs per sec that help an SSD shine.
Putting a 250GB or 500GB EVO 840 is the easiest and best return on system improvement you can make for $120-240 (plus $14 for Icy Dock adapter).
Even the 2008 has two 4x PCIe 1.1 slots. The 2009 has PCIe 4x 2.1 slots that share bandwidth and cap out (only learned from stripping SSDs using two PCIe cards and 2-4 SSDs), so they aren't perfect either! ONLY the 5,1 really has the best PCIe design and setup.
Sonnet only supports or recommends their Tempo Pro which is what I bought, so I don't know off hand how well yours works and if it even will. Some cards do require EFI 64-bit, AND 10.8.x or later, and maybe even PCIe 2.0 - but only to work, ie they don't work or not supported in PCIe 1.0... but NOT about the bandwidth.
Booting in 10 seconds is nice. Launching a full dozen apps in 10 seconds (and ready to use) also. Only larger program suites takes 20 seconds now.
250MB/sec is nothing to sneeze at when it comes to boot drive SSD.

Cabbit use skype credit to dial landline and mobile

I have been using Skype for over 10 years, and work internationally, so it really comes in handy for me , escept when I have poor WIFI,,,, I use it on desktop and my Iphone,,,, This week my account was suspended for suspicious activity and I was forced to submit information to reactivate and change my password,,, now that I went through all that, I still cannot dial landline and mobile phones although I have 35$ credit showing on my account,,,I have not been told why the account was suspended in the frst place,,, and now I am travelling and cannot even use it ,,,, I am very dissappointed at the process and difficulty to contact anyone who can reactivate my service... Any other service that suspects suspicious activity would simply inform me by my known email,, and resent verification link to the email to initiate a reset,,, but instead,, microsoft goes through an extended automated process, while the customer is forced to sit and wait,, then doesnt even know in the end why the problem started in the first place,,, I am slowly migrating away from microsoft,, and this is just another reason why,,,,

You should be able to change payment method to Skype Credit.
Try this first:
1) Go https://secure.skype.com/account/call-phones/packages
2) Open your subscription Settings
3) Click on Change payment method
4) Add another payment method -> Skype Credit
Once you have done this it should look something like this:
