ONKYO "no signal" message...

I have an apple tv. I have encountered toooo many problems with it. I feel like throwing it out the window, seriously.
Right now, I cant see it in my TV.
ATV is connected via HDMI to an ONKYO TX-SR606 which is connected to TV via another HDMI cable. It was working fine until two days ago. All cables are connected properly.
If I press MENU and - on ATV I can see the apple for a few seconds, then nothing. If I unplug power cord and then replug it, I can hear the starting music and the control click and I get the message "no signal" on TV.
Dont know how to fix it. If turned it off, on, checked cables.....
Any ideas....????

i also have an onkyo TX-SR606, and now have the same problem.
all was OK with v2.4.
now on v3 and i always get "no signal" when changing source back to appletv.
see this thread - http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2215648&tstart=0 (and this one http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2216465&start=0&tstart=0)
this issue appears to be widespread as i have read about it on numerous forums now.
something has changed with regards to the HDMI (or HDCP) config in v3 of appletv.
my perfectly working appletv has been ruined by this v3 "update". guess my luck ran out.

  • No signal message - Mac Mini - Samsung P2370HD - DVI-D cable

I just received my new Mac mini and want to connect it via DVI-D cable to my existing Samsung P2370HD monitor. I have a DVI-D to mini-DisplayPort adapter connected to the Mac Mini and then a long (3-5 ft) DVI-D male to DVI-D male cable connecting the adapter to my monitor. I have checked all connections but the monitor is giving me a "No signal" message. When I unplug the cable from the adapter, the monitor gives me a "Check signal cable" message, so it seems as if the signal is not making it through the adapter to the TV.
Can anyone offer advice? I really don't want to pay for a new monitor.

My brain finally kicked in, and I was able to get the monitor to work by using the mini-DVI to DVI cable included with the Mac Mini and connecting that cable to my DVI-D (male to male) cable. I am now getting a signal to the monitor. Guess I will be returning the Dual Link DVI to Mini Displayport adapter as it was not cheap!

  • "No Signal" message when conneting an external LCD through VGA connection

    Hi,
    I have Lenovo 3000 N100 (TYPE 0768-FPG) , OS - Windows 7.
It is connected to an external LCD (SONY LCD) and everything was OK untill one day, without me changing anything, suddenly I get "No Signal" message on the LCD when in PC mode. I tried different VGA cabels and different LCD monitor, tried formatting my machine but nothing helped.
Is there anything else I can try?

Actually, the message I get on the LCD  is: "No sync".
    Anyone...?

  • No signal message on HP 2010i using HPs500O Series desktop

    Hello,
The issue that I am having is with the HPs5000 Series model # s5710f desktop. and HP 2010i monitor. The monitor displays the no signal message and then goes to sleep. I have tried to access the menu on the monitor to no avail. I have plugged the monitor with its own cables into another computer and it works fine. When the desktop is plugged into another monitor it does not work.  I was using the computer just the other day with no problems.  The other issue, I do not know if it is related, is that sometimes I have problems with it coming out of the sleep mode and have to manually shut it down. The only suggestion that I have seen is to open the desktop and clean it with a can of air. I was wondering if this would be my solution or if it would be someting else.
    Thank You

    HI massey76:
I regret that you are having an issue. If the monitor works on another computer, then the monitor itself is functioning. I am sending information for both troubleshooting the monitor, and the computer. HP 2010i 20 inch Diagonal LCD Monitor support click here.  Computer Does Not Start (Windows 7) click here. I am unsure of what operating system you are running, so I just selected Windows 7.  If this has not resolved your issue, would you please provided me the exact model of computer you have. How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number click here. • No Signal Message

Hello – I’m petsitting for a friend and have wrecked her TV. The TV was working fine when I turned it on but I inadvertently pressed a button on the TV remote (not the FIOS remote) that caused the TV picture to vanish and a “no signal” message to appear on a snowy screen.  I tried to set the TV to channel 3 using the TV remote but that did not restore service. Can someone please help me get this sorted out before she gets home and yells at me?  Thank you.

My guess would be that you hit a button that changed the input that the TV is set for, to one that has nothing connected to it, or the device is turned off. Since remotes vary by TV brand, and you didn't identify the brand anyway, there is no way to tell you exactly what button to push. But most TVs these days have multiple inputs and a button on the remote labeled "input" or something like that; just just keep pushing it as it cycles through the various inputs until it reaches the one with the live connection.
Having said the above, the Verizon FiOS remote has an "Input" button, in the lower left; mine is labled "A/V" on the button and "Input" below it. If your friend has the Verizon remote properly set up for the TV, that button generally will cycle through the inputs, just like the button on the TV remote would. You would need to hit the TV button at the top of the Verizon remote first so the signal goes to the TV, not the STB. I suggest you give it a try.

  • Samsung DVD Player "No Signal" Message

Since we first bought our Samsung Blue-Ray Disc Player (BD-P-1400) it will play a disc for less than five minutes, and then the TV (Samsung Series 550) displays a "No Signal" message. The DVD player is still advancing the disc, but only the error message is displayed on the TV.

  • External monitor "No Signal" message

MacBookPro mid 2010 with 250GB solid state drive. W80183G9AGZ
Two problems, they may be related
Randomly for some time the computer restarts with the message “Your computer has restarted because of a problem”
This generates a crash report which I always send to Apple.
(Unfortunately this computer does not support Apple Hardware Test nor Apple Diagnostics).
Today the computer will not send a signal to the external monitor, ( a Samsung TV).
I have carried out the following fault finding.
DVI-HDMI cable plugged and unplugged several times in different order before and after -
    Restart
    Shutdown and then Restart
    Reset PRAM
    Reset SMC
The same when using a VGA cable.
With HDMI there is a “No Signal” message, with VGA the screen just stays black.
Both HDMI and VGA previously worked flawlessly.
Checked that the GPUs are switching correctly from the integrated Intel HD graphics to the NVIDEA GForce 330M. Previously, as soon as this happened, the external monitor desktop image would appear immediately.
The presence of the external monitor is not being sensed, in “Displays” in System preferences no second display options are present.
    Questions
Is the video problem definitely the NVIDEA GPU or could it be the computer crashing problem just getting worse?
Is it possible to replace the NVIDEA GPU if it is faulty?
Although the problem seems to be the same with both HDMI and VGA could it still be a problem with the HDMI cable?

  • No Signal message on TV

I'm gett ing a "No Signal" message on one of my TVs. I can change the input to video 1, video2, video3, but that doesn't do anything. Help!

My wife is somewhat technicalyy illiterate and creates a situation like this all the time.
Remotes are programmed to auto turn of tv and stb, she waves the remote in the general direction of the setup and the stb turns off but the tv doesn't get the power signal and then shows the no signal screen.  She pushes power on the remote and it powers the stb on and tv off so no picture, however she doesn't notice the stb is now on.  Next time she wants the tv on she  pushes power and it reverses it so stb turns off and tv turns on and again displays no signal.
Perhaps your issue? if so make sure both devices are off by selecting tv device on remote before power off.
Somewhat amusing but typically results in phone call to say the d....d tv has broken again.
If this is in fact the problem, I suggest reprogramming the remote to turn on and off only the device selected, STB or TV. There is pretty much no value in turning off the STB as it consumes nearly the same power when turned on or off. I had the exact problem described by viafax999 and changing the programmng on the remote to separate the power on/off function fixed it completely, I never turn the STB off and just hit the TV button first before turning on or off the TV (takes a few days to get used to doing that, but after that, no issue).
For anybody that wants to do that, the instructions are in the little booklet that came with the remote, or you can find the here:

  • "No signal" message on one TV

I am getting a "no signal" message on one TV.  Other 2 TVs on my FIOS network work fine.
The cable box appears to work fine.  This message just appeared in the middle of a TV program.
Not sure what the problem is, unless I did something inadvertent to the remote.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks

Yep, the no signal message is always displayed by the TV.  Make sure you are on the correct input.  If necessary try a different input.  I know this sounds dumb, but i gotta say, make sure the STB is turned on.  You would be suprised how many people don't recognize that.

  • Weak or no signal message on tv

When I turned my Samsung TV on tonight I received a "weak or no signal" message with a "snow" background.  I tried many things including checking the input source, turning the TV off and on, disconnecting the cable, and checking the cable connections.  The other TVs in the house are working okay.  The digital cable box (model DC50X) is not lit up in the front (actually I am not sure if it was lit up when it was working correctly).  Could the box be defective?

  • No video signal message after TV update

Eeek! I got this no video signal message on the screen but I still have picture, I tried to reset the TV but the message comes back when I turn on the TV.. This happened after the update for the TV
    Solved!

I'm concerned that Toshiba will not fix this issue before some of us have to return our new TVs because of such a seemingly inane problem. I paid significant money for a Toshiba TV (I've owned and loved 3 previous Toshibas) with certain performance expectations, including NOT having to see a silly 'No Signal' message every time I turn the set on. Is Toshiba paying attention here? I hope so. I DO NOT want to give up my new Toshiba television, but I must if this annoyance isn't fixed very quickly. Toshiba, are you listening? Your loyal customers are waiting for an answer.

  • No signal message when connecting mini to a mermaid ventura

New here so please be gentle!
I am trying to connect a recently purchased mac mini (of fleabay) through a 15inch Mermaid Ventura monitor via a VGA converter.
The monitor works perfect but I am unable to get a signal and recieve the no signal off to sleep message. I have also used a 17 inch sony LCD and again the same yet this works with my PC...
Any ideas on what I am doing wrong? I have set the mermaid to auto settings but is the mac trying to send a signal that the screen cannot handle? or has the previous user set the resolution settings higher than the screen can handle? if so... how the **** do I reset this? or work round this? with no screen?
Mac works fine, HD spins away and I the mini chimes.. just no screen...
    thanks in advance.

I know when I first got my mini, I got a 19" wide Acer monitor. Hooked it up with a DVI cable, started up the mini and got the no signal message. Hooked it up to my old PC, worked fine. Hooked it back up to the mini, turned the mini on, no signal, walked away while it started up to get something to drink, came back and it was working like a champ. I think it's got something to do with the default resolution settings somewheres, but once your mini actually starts up, it should work. Also, you could try pressing "CommandOption+PR" when you power on your mini. Press it almost immediately after you hear that "Mac sound" and it should "restart" and you'll hear that "Mac sound" again. Then, just give it a few minutes so the OS can boot up and see if you've got any signal.

  • Can not get Samsung 22" LED TV to work with Mac Mini (2009), 'No Signal' message. any suggestions?

I've just purchased a Samsung 5000series 22" LED TV to use with my Mac Mini (2009). I'm connecting using VGA with VGA adapter to MacMini. The TV is reading an error message saying there's no signal. Already tried with a 32" LG and it worked, as well as with a Dell moniter but can't seem to get this Samsung to work... PLEASE HELP!!

That is not totally true. Instead of using an analog VGA connection, try using a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter and HDMI cable with that Samsung Monitor.

  • "no signal" message on monitor

A friend gave me her lenovo 3000 h series desktop.  I am attempting to set it up.  I have hooked up all of the wires that I know of.  (we took it apart and I brought it home and am now attempting to connect it).  The monitor when turned on displays "no signal" and nothing else.    Any thoughts?

    Hey dkcowles,
The monitor, is it using a ..
    1. VGA input - http://www.firebird-systems.com/graphics/tuners/cmt345_files/dual_vga_cable.jpg
    or
    2. DVI input - http://www.serialdigital.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/11/dvi_connector.jpg
Depending on the back of the computer, its either a DVI or a VGA type.
if your monitor is VGA and the computer is DVI.. you will need a converter. and if you are using a converter and you get that error of "no signal" .. try changing the converter.
or you could test the monitor on a different computer
