Online apple photo book purchase

I'm having trouble purchasing an apple photo book on line. I select "buy", then it "assembles" ok, but gets hung on "upload". I've tried to repeat the process in safe mode but no luck. Any advice?

Before ordering your book preview it using this method - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1040 - and save the resulting PDF for reference - the delivered book will match it.
You can then have the preview PDF printed by any service that can print form PDFs - googe will give you some options - one (simply found on Google - not tested nor recommended) is http://www.prestophoto.com/help/Apple+iPhoto+Book+Printing

  • Square photos in apple photo books

I have a lot of square photos, which I love, due to instagram and other photo editing apps.  I'd like to include them in my Apple photo books, but Apple doesn't seem to allow square photos. It crops the photos into rectangles. Is there a way to include square photos in their full frame in Apple photo books?

Thank you so much!!!!! That solved it for me!
For others of you who may have this question, you right click (2 finger click) on the photo once its placed in the book and select "fit photo to frame size." There is now just white space to the right and left of the photo.
    Thank you, Larry!

  • How long can Apple photo books be expected to last?

How long can Apple photo books be expected to last?  Given the type of ink and paper used, what can we expect these books to look like in 10 years?  20 years?  100 years?

Until you spill red wine on them
Here are the specs Apple publishes on the books

  • Can I retrieve any photos from Apple photo books? I recently had my MacBook, iPhone and camera stolen in a burglary. I have lost ALL my photos.

Over the past two years I have produced three photo books with Apple. After losing all my photos in the burglary, is there any way I can get the photos back from Apple? It was distressing enough losing laptops and cameras, but it is ten times worse that they took back-up drives and everything with photos on.

Sorry to hear about your loss. What a terrible thing. Apple will hold the books/projects for no more than 40 days ro so.

  • File sizes for Apple photo book service

If I use Apple print services to print a photo book, will they accept TIFF-16 bit photo files?

If you create a photo book and use 16-bit tiffs, these will be converted in the pdf file, that is sent to Apple, so it should not matter.
But you can try for yourself. Just create a dummy book, include some fo your 16-bit tiff, click "buy book" and on the next page select "Preview Book".
Then inspect the preview pdf-that will be created - when I tried this with a book that contained several gigantic 16-bit tiffs (each 200 MB) the resulting book had only 40 MB. So the tiffs had been compressed considerably.

  • Apple photo book

We made a photo book of our daughter's wedding but no longer have the photos on our computer. My brother, who took the pictures, would like to put a link to the book on his website. Would Apple still have that file? We made the book about a year ago.

Would Apple still have that file?
No. They only keep it for 40 days; click here for more information.

  • Photo Book purchase question please help!

Ok well I made my photo book but I don't know how much it will cost to buy it. Is it always the same price? Or will it tell you after you're finished making you're photo book. Also when I am finished with my photo book and I hit "Buy Book" will it buy it right away? Or will it say blah blah blah this is how much it will cost ok? Do you agree? Are you sure? Enter information PLEASE HELP

I just received my first IPhoto book. It is fabulous, by the way. When you begin the book, you can choose size and type and get pricing information. If you click on the layout/page view in the thumbnails above the book pages, you can see exactly how may pages you are using as you work. When you are finished, you are given the exact price with shipping information. Put in your credit card info and you're done. In the last week, I completed 6 books, all different sizes. These were the first I'd ever done and while I deleted the start a few times, it was pretty easy once I discovered the layout/page view. Hope this helps

You will need to copy the Library to the other machine. You can't move a book, only the library that contains it.

  • APERTURE PHOTO BOOK WORKFLOW

I'm new to Aperture (1.1) and am looking for advice on the best workflow to create Apple Photo Books. Issues include:
    1. Getting the correct version of the photo into the book
    2. Copying the photos in correct order with a single copy/drag command
    3. Ensuring there are no duplicates
    4. Not having the photo name in the Book
I had created an Aperture Album for the Photo Book. Took care to drag the best version (which is the last version) of the photo into the album (with an error here). After numerous attempts, I gave up on trying to get the correct, better version of the photo into the Book (just re-edited the version I had). Tried to manually arrange the photos within the Album in the order I wanted to have them in the Book (they are ordered by date) but was unsuccessful in re-ordering. In creating the Book I had to individually drag each photo to it's page and had to manually keep track of which ones I was using (resulting in one duplication). As I was fine tuning the Book and rearranging the photos, there wasn't a place to temporarily store the photos (this is how I inadvertently got a duplicate). Also, I had to manually remove each photo name that was attached to each photo in the Book(perhaps there is an easy option here I don't know about yet?).
Interested in any pointers to expedite creating these Photo Books. Missing some of the iPhoto Book creation tools!

i am no expert on books, but in the one i am working on, i set the image i wanted to use as the stack pick before i made my book selections. i always manually load pages, so i can't help you there. in the browser of my book, the thumbnails of images used in the book have a red badge in the upper right corner showing how many times they have been used in the book. that should help you with duplicates.

  • How to migrate photos from a Photo Book project to Photo Album

Is there a way to move the photos I've collected in my Apple Photo Book project file back into my Photo Library as a single album?  The originals were spread out over 5 years. Took me a while to find them, then save them to this project file.   I want to save this condensed group of images back to one album in my Photo Library for easy access.  Though the pics were taken over a 5 year period, they are of the same, favorite vacation spot.
I have OX 10.10.3 running Photos.  Have iCloud sync.
    Thanks!

    Hi Godfrey,
Make a new album in the source column naming it after your book
Highlight the book in the source column
Start at the first page of your book
Drag each image from the book into the new album in the source column.
This can only be done one by one. I have tried "selecting all" and it does not work.

  • Re-order photo books

Does anyone know if there is a way to re-order additional copies of an apple photo book from my apple store account so I don't have to upload the file from aperture again?

Is there an answer to this?  When I order photobooks (from other services, e.g.), I tend to order only one to see if it looks good in real life -- and then order more later.  Is that possible with Aperture and Apple?

  • Aperture photo book vs iPhoto quality

Hi, will photo books printed from Aperture give me better quality than photo books from iPhoto 6? This will help me decide if I should buy Aperture or not.
Is it true that Aperture prints books at 300 dpi and iPHoto at 150 dpi?
Any advantages to printing photo books in Aperture (what does Aperture photo books do that iPhoto doesn't)?
    Thanks,

Recently I uploaded and had printed a hardbound book that had been designed within Aperture. Prior to this, I have used iPhoto to produce 10 such books starting back in 2002. I have always chosen the picture book format because it provided the largest images.
This time I used Aperture because it allows large images with small captions and a good deal or freedom of length and placement.I particularly appreciated the good snap placement between the pictures and other captions. The ease of producing 2 page spreads was impressive. The book ran 84 pages and the quality of the resulting was very good–on a par with my other Apple photo books.
On only one occasion have I had a problem with quality control of these books. In that case an a good high resolution image was pixelated. In that case, I was able to call Apple and speak to someone, who after hearing my description, asked me to send my copy back and issued a reprint order.
My only bit of consternation with this order is that I found no such contact information enclosed with the book.
Finally, I haven't seen any specific suggestions within this formum for third-party print houses that can produce good quality books. Just assertions that alternatives do exist. I would be willing to strip down the .pdf file of the book I have just created to some of the trickier images and see how these one of these print houses fare.
Here to an Aperture New Year!

  • Any one has a coupon code for the photo books

anyone has a coupon code for the apple photo book? THANKS

Thanks that helped out a lot; I combined that program with the serial example. It works well, but it seems to want to update very frequently, as I am hearing relays tripping, but if I set the number I want and hit stop it goes there and will stop at that command. Is there a way to just have it send the data and then just have it leave the serial device alone unless you change the angle. As in only send the data once, but not have to re hit run.

  • Photo book resale?

Hi, I'm just wondering what the legality of reselling Apple photo books to others is? Are people allowed to start a small personal business where people pay them the price of the book + a small fee to get it custom made for them? I'm in Canada.
    Thanks!

There's no reason you can't resell any book that you create and order thru iPhoto. There are a number of users who do that that have posted here.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
