Online Apple store question...Re: refurbished macbook

Sorry, I wasn't sure where else to post this.
I was looking at buying one of the refurbished macbooks from the online apple store and the other day saved it in my cart. I've noticed now that it's no longer on the website as an available item, but it is still saved on my account.
Does anyone know if I would still be able to purchase this? I would do so within the next day or two ... just waiting to see if I can resurrect my iBook first...
Also, I've read alot of the good accounts of buying refurbished items on these boards, but was wondering if anyone has had a BAD experience buying refurb'd mac products??

Question 1:
I think the refurbished MacBooks tend to come and go in the online store. Sometimes they're there, sometimes they're not. I would recommend calling your local Apple Store and asking if they have any refurbished or "refreshed" MacBooks.
Question 2:
I bought my MacBook used from a guy who bought it refurbished somewhere around May I think. It has the CPU whine, the squeaky hinge, the sizzling power brick, and the heatsink was replaced for the random shutdown issue.
That said, since this is a very early MacBook, there were a lot more unresolved issues when it was purchased. If you buy a refurb now, you'll probably be fine. As an example, my friend's refurb, purchased pretty recently, works great, and hasn't had any issues at all. I'm just posting this because you'll find a lot of posts on these boards about issues with early MacBooks (refurbs or not) like this. I think at least most of the MacBook problems have been worked out.
I'm probably going to call AppleCare tomorrow re: the hinge and power brick; in my experience they've been great about replacing parts, etc, and there are temporary fixes for the whine that make it tolerable. :P
I have not had a "BAD" experience at all whatsoever owning this MacBook. Yes, it has some issues, but I love my MacBook (and so does everyone I know), and the great feeling of finally owning a Mac (I've been saving for who knows how long!) makes up for the annoying whine, etc. I hope this post doesn't turn you off on a refurb.

Stores do not stock refurbished products. But, as
mentioned above, they may be able to order one for
you. Best bet is to call and ask.
I have heard (and experienced) exactly the opposite. Each local store has a supply of refurbished products in addition to those on the open box/discount table by the cash wrap. When I am in an Apple Store on the mainland, I ask them what "renewed" or "refreshed" products they have in the back. I've never been told they don't have any.
As for having Fedex do an "Ace Ventura" on your computer, how do you think all of the millions of other Apple computers are delivered? How do you think those in the Apple Store got there? They all came via Fedex. My MacBook just arrived on Friday. It went from China to Anchorage to Indianapolis to Memphis to Honolulu and then to Maui. Online Apple Store Question

I couldn't find a forum to discuss the OAS, so I thought I'd ask here.
When the OAS says an order will ship in "5 - 7 business days", is the business day the order was placed counted in that time frame or does the time start the NEXT business day?

Anyway, my experience is that the day the order is placed generally isn't considered to be the first day, but in general those estimates aren't that precise. Therefore I'd suggest you contact the Apple Store and ask if they can give you a more precise shipping estimate. You can also keep an eye on your order status here:

Registration Isuse of Macboook Pro - Bought in USA from Online Apple Store

Hi All
I live in India and needed to buy the Macbook Pro i7 / Quad Core / 1TB 5400 RPM HDD / NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M with 1GB GDDR5 / Hi-Res Display Macbook Pro, but this configurtaion was not available in India and no option to buy online in India the required configuration. Though I did check with Apple India representative and people at Apple re-seller in India and answer was no.
Then I asked if I buy the Macbook Pro with requried configuration in USA then will it be supported in India and also will I be able to buy the AppleCare Protection Plan - for this answer was Yes.
So I asked my friend in USA to buy the requried configuration and he ordered the Macbook Pro with required customized configuration at Online Apple Store. Since Apple Online Order requries Apple ID to place the order, the Macbook Pro purchase request order was crreaetd with my friends apple Id.
Now after I recieved the Macbook Pro, I thought of registering the same with my Apple ID by entering the serial number at http://supportprofile.apple.com it says that this Macbook Pro is already registered with other Apple ID.
I checked the coverage at - https://selfsolve.apple.com/agreementWarrantyDynamic.do it shows up the details and warranty validity.
So my question here are:

You need to add the serial number of the MBP to your Apple ID list of registered devices. Your friend needs to remove this device as well.

Not necessarily. Just sign into your iTunes account with your Apple ID when you open iTunes.

Make sure to delete any user account he made on your CPU. Sign into the App Store with your Apple ID. Sign into iCloud with your Apple ID. Sign into iTunes, as indicated above, with your Apple ID. You can associate your user account (System Preferences > Users ) with your apple ID. The main thing is step #1...this is how Apple associates any device with a given user.

I'm about to buy a Macbook pro with an upgraded configuration for my birthday.
And here http://store.apple.com/hk/buy-mac/macbook-pro you can see in the section "Configure to Order" that upgraded configuration can be made only at the Apple Online Store. But I'm in HongKong just for tourism, Im not living there. And i dont want to be delivered at the hotel. I would like instead that the macbook will be delivered to an apple store, and then i go there to pick it up.
There is nothing indicating the restriction about that.

Will the unlocked iPhone 6 from UAE-Online-Apple-Store support LTE in UAE?

Currently I'm trying to buy an unlocked iPhone 6 from UAE Online Apple Store. The unlocked iPhone price was 650 AED cheaper than the local provider unlocked iPhone!
This makes me wonder why is that? and is there any thing technically different? And the most important question, is this inlocked iPhone 6, that I'm going to order from UAE Online Apple Store, will support LTE in UAE? (Note that all the carriers in UAE offer LTE on iPhone).
Just to make sure that all the same before I order it.

Do NOT buy the iphone 6 from UAE store. It is only unlocked as far as the carrier choice goes. There is NO FACETIME at all.
Apple should be ashamed at calling it unlocked! I ordered one and now they are delaying the return! It's absolutely no use to me if it doesn't work and is only suited to a market that embraces technology.
First, the term "unlocked" has nothing to do with which features are available to you. Second, the lack of FaceTime in the Middle East is nothing new. This is a restriction placed on Apple by local governments and carriers for all devices sold in those markets.

Can Apple Store order a custom MacBook Pro For Me...

I purchased a 2015 MacBook Pro two days ago. Purchased the 256gb 8GB ram model. I find that I do actually need the 16GB of RAM. If I still have my macbook pro within the return policy, can Apple Store order one for me (with 16gb of RAM) and let me use the one I currently have until the 16GB model comes into the store and I just swap computers and pay the difference? Or do I just pay the difference up front and swap computers when the 16GB model comes in?
I would be without a computer for the time being, and I have clients that I work with on a day to day basis. Being without a computer would be very bad...

You may be able to arrange with the Apple Store genius or specialist, to help you migrate
the current computer content to the new one when it arrives, and before you surrender the
one you want to upgrade from; they may also be able to help erase the returned model.
Usually from the time you contact Apple and arrange to return the computer (under the
14 day time frame) you then have a certain amount of time to send or take the return
to Apple; so if you contact Apple on say, the 12th day, and there are no weekends or
holidays to disrupt the physical time-frame return, you may have more than just 2 days.
I was told after discussing the return of a new Mini, (on the 8th day) that I had 14 days
after the day I told them I was wanting to return the computer. And if I chose to change
my mind, I could do nothing and that time-frame would elapse.
However, returns and exchange policies vary from OK to non-existent when the purchase
was through an authorized reseller that was not an authentic official Apple Store, or via the
official online Apple Store. An independent reseller usually will not allow returns or refunds.
Hopefully you can work it out to get the model you want and not be stuck with two, or none...

Different pricing in at&t store than online Apple store

I just got back from the AT&T store where I was going to preorder the 32 gig iPhone 3GS as the online Apple Store said that I was eligible for an early upgrade. I figured that I'd preorder at AT&T so that I could head in at 7:00 AM on the 19th and pick it up with (hopefully) little hassle.
The salesman brought up my account and said that I was not eligible for the $499 price, I could only buy it outright for $699. I asked why there was a discrepancy between the web and in-store and he didn't know. I got home a few minutes ago and ended up preordering online so that it will be shipped to me but now I'm going to have to keep an eye out for its delivery.
Anyone else have this problem with the AT&T store not reflecting the online price from the Apple store?

Replacement iPhones in the UK from Apple Store new or refurbished?

Are replacement handsets offered in the Apple Store new or refurbished? From speaking with the staff there they referred to them as Service Grade handsets and I did notice the box containing the handset had a quality control sticker applied to it.
I am looking to exchange my faulty iPhone but do not want the replacement to be a used and refurbished handset while I am within 14 days of original purchase.

I doubt you would get a refurb in return. Most of the stock in the UK will still be new stock and their first distribution point will likley be through the uk applestore, but i'm guessing it might be a month or two before they show up. Refurbs can be unsold old stock (unopened) or unwanted returns (openened) or even repaired stock. Before they go on sale they test them out for a while to catch any obvious issues. Typically they are a good deal.
I'm sure if you returned to the applestore and they agreed to a replacement (within 1 year not 12 days) ask that it be from new stock and they will oblige.
