Online communication of excel documents

For MIS purposes and planning of our factory work, we work with different Excel workbooks. One for stock keeping, one for pricing, one for man hours, one for production planning etc.
Our Factory is in India, but the people involved login from both India as the Netherlands. 5 - 10 active users.
We work on both Windows as Apple laptops and desktops. Office versions of 2010/2011 and higher.
The different workbooks are saved online in OneDrive, and different people have different access rights, but we are facing issues with the communication between different workbooks. Especially Macro's, ActiveX, Lookup functions and Visual Basics do not work
as the files are not able to communicate to each other it seems on OneDrive.
I would like to hear suggestions on what to do/change to get these connections between workbooks working online, and have all systems, including macbook, integrated.

For the benefit of anyone experiencing a similar problem, I would like to report my successful resolution of this irritant. Apple Support kindly listened to my story and then went through all of the necessary steps to create a new user, verify that my problem then disappeared, and finally suggested that I replace all of the new Preference folder items - one by one - with those from the original Preference folder to determine the culprit.
I failed to complete this final task in its entirety and decided just to redo the new Preference (default) items as I get to the programs involved.
Thanks again to Apple Support.

  • Multiple Instances of the Same Excel Document in 'Alt-Tab' List

    So I am having a very weird problem, and I can't seem to find an answer anywhere. I was recently given a new laptop at work with Windows 7 and Office 2010. It has worked pretty well so far, but recently I have been noticing something very strange. While
    this problem is quite small, due to how I use windows and my habits of alt-tabbing between multiple documents throughout the day, it is causing a serious problem.
    This typically only happens when I have multiple excel documents open, and am tabbing between them or other documents or windows. For example, I have ClientList.xlsx open and need to cut and paste a cell from it to FinalReview.xlsx. I have 'ClientList' open
    and just clicked Control+C to copy a cell. I click on 'Alt-tab' and while the icon in the alt tab list appears to change, I am taken immediately back to the same document. What is happening is that there are actually two separate copies of 'ClientList'
    in my alt tab list. If I press and hold 'Alt' and then hit 'tab' twice, I can pull up the other excel file, 'FinalReview'.
    At any point in time, I can click on the 'Alt' button to see the list and see three Excel icons. There will be one large excel icon with the name 'Microsoft Excel - ClientList.xlsx', and then right next to it will be two smaller looking excel icons with
    the names 'ClientList.xlsx' and 'FinalReview.xlsx' respectively.
    Has anyone seen anything like this before? I have spend hours searching for a resolution on the internet, as well as calling my work's tech support line and have not found anything remotely close to this as even being an issue.
    Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi,
    First, I would like to verify whether this issue only occurred with Excel? Have you checked the Excel settings? You can perform a
    system restore to see how it works.
    In addition, I suggest you try the following:
    1. Test the issue in Clean Boot and
    Safe Mode
    2. Create a new user to test if this issue still exists.
    Thanks,

  • How can I Hide(not Disable) the Save As and Exit options in the File menu of Excel Documents in SharePoint 2013?

    Hi,
    I want to hide(not disable) the "Save As" and "Exit" options in the File Menu of Excel Documents in SharePoint 2013.When I make changes in the excelribbon.css file of xlviewer.aspx,all the options under File menu are getting hidden but
    I want to hide only these two options while retaining the others.
    Kindly suggest me a method to achieve this.
    Looking forward to your reply at the earliest.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Sanjana

    Hi Sanjana,
    To hide the “Save As” and “Exit” options in xlviewer.aspx page in SharePoint, I recommend to use the code below(however it is not recommended):
    <style>
    div.cui-menusection li.cui-menusection-items:nth-child(2)
    display:none !important;
    div#m_excelWebRenderer_ewaCtl_menuJewelSaveAs{
    display:none !important;
    div#m_excelWebRenderer_ewaCtl_msJewelSecondary{
    display:none !important;
    </style>
    As “:nth-child()” selector is supported in IE 9 and later versions, please use IE 9 or later versions’ IE browser.

    Hello,
    I assume that you have Excel installed in your computer.
    So, I think that this error is a problem with your Internet Explorer configuration.
    Try to open them with IE 32 bits.
    Hope this helps.

  • Link to Excel document in site throws "Document with same name already open"

    I have an Excel document stored in a document library in SP2010.  I provided a link to the document in a CEWP on a page.  When clicking the link on the page, Excel throws the erorr "Two documents with the same name cannot be opened" error.
    When clicking the link in the document library, the Excel workbook opens fine.  When hovering over both links, the URL in the status bar is identical.  Here is the link in the page:

    Hi jd_hancock,
    The scenario is not reproduced in my environment.
    I used Fiddler to check whether there are differences between them to download the file, it seems the same and the file also successfully opened in the Content Editor Web Part.
    I would suggest you to use the same way to check whether the download process is the same, also, type the url directly in the address bar, whether the document can be opened as expected?

  • View word/excel documents in ITS

    Hi,
    Have any of you come across the following...
    In transactions like FBV3, we can attach word/excel documents with a sap document. We can then view these documents. When I try to view the attached documents through Portal and ITS, I get a 'Select Program' dialog box from windows. I then have to find and select 'excel.exe' or 'word.exe' from program files for the attachment to open. Is there anyway to avoid the windows dialog ...

    If you wanted to role the execookie.txt file out to your user community, assuming they all use Internet Explorer, you could role a file which lets IE determine which application to launch. The following file worked for me:

    JPG
    c:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe

  • Excel documents stuck on loading circle

    I'm hoping this is the right forum, there wasn't a general Office Web Apps forum that I could see.
    I have a user who is unable to open Excel documents from SharePoint 2010, the web app toolbars appear as they should but the content stops on the "loading" text with the circle.
    The documents open fine if they select "Open in Excel" from the drop down when viewing the document library.
    The web app works fine for the other 30 odd staff in the same department, but not for this one user (all their PC's are build identical).
    I've tried an Office repair, renaming the OWSPUPP.DLL found in Office15 to that the OWSPUP.DLL is used from Office 14 (we have Office 2010 and Lync 2013), resetting IE, deleting all temporary files.
    The last option is to rebuild the PC.

    Hi,
    According to your post, my understanding is that the excel files stucked on loading circle.
    Did you active the feature Excel Services Application View Farm Feature and
    Excel Services Application Web Part Farm Feature in the farm ?
    We can active them, then check whether it works.
    Did you use the IE 32bit? Make sure the IE version is 32bit.
    You also can check with other browers, such as FireFox, Chrome, if so, we can use the following methods or reset the IE.
    Use the Compatibility View Settings in IE. Open the IE->Tools->
    Compatibility View Settings->add the site into Compatibility View, then check whether it works.
    Add the site into Trusted sites. Opne the IE->Internet Options->Security->Sites->add the site into the Websites, then check whether it works.
    What’s more, you can check the event log and ULS log to see if anything unexpected occurred.
    To check event log, click the Start button and type “Event Viewer” in the Search box.
    For SharePoint 2010, by default, ULS log is at
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\LOGS
    You can check the ULS log by the methods here:

  • Excel document is automatically converting to a word doc and won't open

    I Installed Microsoft Excel and Word 2007 onto my laptop. Since the, whenever I create an excel document and save the same, it saves as a Word doc and when trying to open the doc, an error message comes up. Why is the Excel doc automatically saving as a Word doc? How to correct this issue?

    Hi judyf73891847,
    I don't think you're doing anything wrong. I'm not surprised that ExportPDF is having a hard time converting handwriting. One option is to disable OCR as described in this document: How to disable Optical Character Recognition (O... | Adobe Community. Then, ExportPDF won't try to convert those elements into editable text. The only drawback to that is that you won't be able to edit those items when you open the converted document in Word.

  • Can I synch Word/Excel documents?

    I'm running OS X 10.9.5 on both a iMac and a Macbook Air.  I'm new to the use of iCloud, so bear with me.  I'd like to synch Word and/or Excel documents between my two Macs (i.e., edit the file on either Mac and then have the latest version of the file available on the other Mac), but it appears I'll need to wait for Yosemite to do that, right?
    If I log on to iCloud.com and click on the "Pages" icon, I get the following message:
    "To use Pages, you'll need to upgrade your account to iCloud Drive.  iCloud Drive will allow you to store any file in iCloud and access it any time, on any device."
    BUT, the message goes on to say:  "Important:  If you upgrade, you won't be able to access documents in iCloud from devices with IOS 7 or OS X Mavericks.  You'll need to install iOS 8 or OS X Yosemite on the following devices..."
    This sounds a bit like a "Catch22".  Since Yosemite is not yet available, the message seems to be saying, in effect:  "to use Pages (to store a document) you need to upgrade.  If you upgrade you won't be able to use Pages"
    I'm confused.  Any help is appreciated.

    With MacOS X Mavericks on your MacBook Air and iMac, you should be able to use "Documents in The Cloud".
    But it works only with iCloud-enabled apps. You would need to open your Word Documents with Pages and the Excel documents with Numbers.  Pages and Numbers can store documents in the cloud and they would be synced to your other Mac.
    If you want to keep the Office documents as Word documents, but still sync them in the cloud, try Winston Churchill's user tip. You can create your own iCloud drive, see this link:   Using iCloud to sync multiple document types.
    https://discussions.apple.com/community/icloud/icloud_on_my_mac/content?filterID =contentstatus%5Bpublished%5D~objecttype~objecttype%5Bdocument%5D
    This will only work, if you did not upgrade a mobile device to iOS 8 and enabled iCloud Drive on that device. In that case you will have to wait till Yosemite will be released.

  • Excel documents

    Do I have to buy the Numbers app to work on an Excel document on my ipad? I only have 1 document that i need to keep with me and work on. I really didn't want to have to buy an app for it.

    You can't edit the spreadsheet offline without an app. You can download the spreadsheet from Google Docs with many apps, such as Goodreader, but you will not be able to edit it without an app.
    You can edit spreadsheets on Google docs online with no real problems, as long as they aren't too complex. You just need a wifi/3g connection, depending on which iPad you have.
