Online exercise book app

Is there an app out there for use on ipad and macbook where pupils can save their completed work to hand in, save handouts etc. I want a version of a pupils normal exercise book but online. I dont want to have my inbox full of assignments that I mark then email back.
I am looking for an app or program where all the work or resources a pupil has are stored online. These pieces of work done by the pupil can be checked by the teacher and corrected. Simple!? The resources are simply stored in the pupil's account. No need to correct those obviously!
The pupils will be using ipads and I will be using a macbook and ipad to check their exercise books and correct their work.
Does anyone know of an app or program like this?

I used to hang out here quite often a while back (normally in the Java Programming section) and would pay quite a lot of attention to threads, maps and data structures.
I want to put together a simple online hotel booking system as my own pet project to get a bit of expereince in JSP and web technologies -
I ve picked up an Oreily book on this toic but does anyone know where I can find an example online hotel booking system which I can use to learn from? I m pretty sure these types of apps have been written in the past but there was not much on Sourceforge

The server doesn't know what a booking is - how could it do anything for you? Your problem is also not about code synchronization - it is perfectly valid for two people to process a booking at the same time, it is only not valid to process the exact same booking at the same time.
Me - I'd pretend that there is no such thing as two people booking the same slot at the same time - until the very last moment where you actually commit the booking to a particular person. One of them is going to be first and that's the winner, in the other's case before saving you'd check the database if it is already taken and then inform the user that he/she's out of luck. The stupid and easy solution that is also quite safe.

The operating system takes up about 2GB, so that's why your 16 GB iPad has 14 GB capacity. And if you only have 687mbs left, it means you don't have much space left to add to your iPad. Do you have lot's of videos/Books/Music/Apps/Pictures on your iPad. If you do and you want to add more, you're going to have to delete things before you can add more.

Try resetting your network settings.
Settings>Genenal>Reset>Reset Network Settings.

I get a message that my ipad and iphone cannot connect to the iTunes store. I have tried to sync books to my iPad and iphone and i get the message that I cannot connect to the iTunes store and thus cannot sync a book to my books app. Why?

I get a message that my ipad 2 and iphone 5 cannot connect to the itunes store when I try to sync a book to my book app. Although, when I click "store" both are able to access the itunes store. Why is this? Also I tried to open a book that was synced and a message that I did not have enough memory to load this book popped up--when I know that I have well over 40gb of memory left in my ipad and over 16gb left in my iphone. The message that I cannot connect to the itunes store is strange that it offers no option and I have to hit OK to get out and use my ipad or iphone.

Try logging out of your account on the iPad by tapping on your id in Settings > Store and then log back in and see if it then works.
If that doesn't solve it then what has worked for some people is going into Settings > General > Date & Time and changing the date to a few months (or maybe a year or two) in the future and then re-trying

If Settings -> General -> Accessibility -> VoiceOver does not work, then it is unlikely iBooks will do text to speach on its own in the current version.

I know that some competing services, Kindle, Nook, etc... are restricted in doing text to speach by the book publishers.
If this is text in a PDF (not an ebook), then maybe there is another app that can to text to speach on PDFs.
If it is published books that are of interest, there is Audible.com <http://www.audible.com/>
In theory it should be possible to use the Mac OS X Text to Speach facilities to convert a document into an audio file, and they sync that to the iPod Touch. I assume there is similar text to speach utilities for Windows systems.
I'm also guessing that there are web sites dedicated to assisting sight impaired individuals that might provide ideas for getting text to speach options for the iPod Touch.

Have you tried a simple reset of your iPod to see if that helps? To do this, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
Otherwise, have you tried any of the troubleshooting mentioned in this Apple support document?

What are the correct privileges for Wheel in address book.app 5.0.3?

I think I messed with the privileges for Wheel in Address Book.app 5.0.3. Can anyone tell me if it should be set to Read only or to Read & Write?
Scared to close the info window until I have sorted this out!

Address Book app disappeared; how can I reinstall it?

Out of the blue, my Address Book app disappeared. The icon in the Dock has a question mark on it, and the application itself is no longer in my Applications folder, or anywhere on the drive. Even stranger, it's not in any of my Time Machine backups, even though it was working and present until yesterday.
Mind you, I'm not talking about the data. it's that the app itself is gone. Interestingly, my email still seems to act as if the Address Book contact information is still present. But if I select an address in an email "from" field, for example, and say "Open in Address Book," nothing happens.
Now here's an even weirder part. I also have a recent backup of my Apple Mail and Address Book using Email Backup Pro. After seeing that the Address Book app seems to have also disappeared from my Time Machine backups, I opened Email backup Pro and did a restore of my Address Book. The program reported that the Address Book was successfully restored, but nothing changed -- the Address Book app was still nowhere to be found. I've done this twice.
I also have my Address Book data on my iPod Touch (thankfully). Synching does nothing -- nothing changes on the iPod or on the hard disk, in terms of Address Book.
I'm baffled. Although I'd like to know what caused this, my more immediate concern is to get a functioning Address Book installed again. I booted from the Snow Leopard disc, but could see no option to install just the Address Book.
Does anyone have any ideas?

Yahoo! Mail glitches with Lion mail client and Address Book app

I had really been looking forward to using my Yahoo! mail account in the Lion mail client but now that it is here and I have set it up and used it for a few days I am noticing the following issues:
New mail is not always received or is received late. Yahoo! Webmail portal shows new items but these sometimes do not appear in Lion mail client even after a manual 'get mail' check.
Mail marked as read in Yahoo! Webmail portal or in mail clients in iOS devices such as iPhone or iPad is not marked as read in Lion mail client, however the reverse does work (i.e. mail marked as read in Lion mail client does mark the message as read in webmail and in clients on iOS devices).
Yahoo! Aliases are not supported. Yes, you can add aliases by inserting the other email addresses in the 'Email Address' field of the account settings, but you cannot add more than one display name.
I have also found that if you turn on Yahoo! contacts via the tick-box in the new 'Mail, Contacts & Calendars' pref pane in System Preferences that I end up with random duplicated contacts. These duplicates are not seen on iOS devices, just in the Address Book app. If you delete a duplicate contact, it deletes the contact altogether. However, I have found that if you keep contacts unticked in the pref pane and add your Yahoo! account the old-fashioned way (i.e. via the Address Book app's own preferences) then the contacts sync through perfectly with no duplications.
I would be interested to know if anybody else is experiencing these issues. It may be worth noting that mine is not a @yahoo.com address but @xtra.co.nz which belongs to my ISP here in New Zealand, but the mail is managed by Yahoo!. The account works perfectly as a Yahoo! account on iOS devices and does appear to be working in Lion, except for these small glitches but I don't imagine these are specific to @xtra.co.nz addresses.

i've had the same experience here.
essentially it seems like lion mail.app just takes an incredibly long time to pickup new changes from the IMAP server at yahoo.
ios and webmail are obviously much quicker.
if it is working on ios, why does is it so delayed in mail?
any solutions out there?

Why is the Address Book app slow to update my contacts?

When I try to import my Google contacts into my Mac Address Book via vCard (.vcf) format, Address Book app takes an eternity to finish updating (like a half hour or more), during which I cannot do anything else in the Address Book.
The last time I tried to do so, yesterday, my entire system became extremely slow and I had to restart the computer. BTW, I use Mac OS X v. 10.7.5 (Lion).
I also notice that searching for contacts within the Address Book is an extremely slow process. I begin to type a name and the program is very sluggish to respond or display anything, forcing me to type very slowly.
What can I do to resolve these issues so I can update and search for my contacts in the Address Book within reasonable amounts of time?

you have a 4G iPod. As Apple said in June, iOS 7 is not compatible with the 4G iPod.
All the iOS devices compatible (iPhone 4 and later, iPad 2 and later, and 5G iPod touch) with iOS 7 have at least 512 MB of memory (RAM). The 4G iPod only has 256 MB
