Online Games Problems With WRT54G Router

Hi There ppl,
I have a Lan House with 50 comps working, and most of my costumers are looking for online games entertainment (Cabal Online, Ragnarok, Dota, CS, 9 Dragon etc). We have an 8 Gb DSL connection and another one of the same speed for back-up (not running simultaneously at the moment). We should be having outstanding results for online gamming (and we were before installing the new router) but we are having several problems since we install a new LinkSys WRT54G router here. Our physical configuration is the modem, followed by the router, than three DLink Switches(24 ports) and my main computer. Everything cable
What we noticed is that the Internet connection looks normal (even using the command "ping", nothing strange appears, no timed out at all!) but online games (specially the above mentioned) have an intermitent connection. (Some times they connect, some dont)... Looks like it happens usually when I have the house crowded, but already showed also with it empty.
Another issue is that I am using the LinkSys Advisor to help identifying this problem, but I am getting even more confused, because its giving new information each time I refresh the "my network" window. Also happens when showing "My Network Settings" on the Support Tab.
Im using Firmware 8.00.0, what I think is the newest.
I didnt try any forwarding port issue yet, as I would like to receive more information about it (never needed to configure anything related before). Concerning the MTU value I already tryed withou any significantly result.
Please If anyone had the same problem, or have any idea of other possible tests, i would appreciate a lot.

Tks for your attention and reply to my issue!! Yesterday right after posting here (when we closed the doors and I could be able to work on it) I did get the latest one (8.00.2) and also set up manually the MTU value to 1500 (standard is automatic). I also unckeck the "anonymous internet request bock", "Multcast filter" and "Filter NAT forwarding", all of them were checked as standard. I also checked the "HTTPS Internet Access" (standard is only HTTP).
At a first moment I could get a very low sensitive better result (but the Lan was closed, so I had the entire 8Gb for my requests). I came back to work right now, and we have about 30 ppl in, mostly using the Internet, MSN and so... I am trying yo connect to Cabal Online, and GG-Esports (Warcraft, Dota) both of them giving the same problems as always... I am really getting tired and disapointed with LinkSys, I really though I would have much more than I am having right now.
Anyway I gonna keep trying each night to see what I cant get. I do post here If I find any solution (or if I really decided to move to another brand)

Connection problems with WRT54G Router PLEASE HELP!!!!

Im having a huge issue and im hoping that someone can help me. Awhile ago i changed what i believe to be my router settings using 192.168.1.1 and i believe i added WEP secuirty. I changed my password i know that much. Anyway my problem is this - When i try connecting a router to my computer, i cannot access the internet OR the 192.168.1.1 setup. I just get a yellow caution sign on my wireless settings (running Windows 7), but when i connect my cable modem (Comcast) to my computer, i can access the internet. I have reset both the router and my cable modem MANY times (hard resets) and STILL cannot get the setup page for the router. I have TWO WRT54G rourters and BOTH do the same thing when connected to my desktop , yet BOTH work fine on an old machine running XP, so it is something i did with this computer. Can someone please help me solve this issue? any hlep would be appreciated as i am stumped and do not know how to fix this and cannot use WI-FI or my Xbox 360 until i can fix this..Thanks.

Wireless to Wired PC problems with WRT54GS router

I am helping a friend troubleshoot a home network with a high-speed DSL line, WRT54GS router, 3 wired XP PCs and two laptops connecting to the router via 80211.g
The desktop PCs see each other on the network and can share files and printers.
However the laptops via WIFI don't see the wired desktops on the network, nor can the desktop PCs see the laptops on the network. I tried running the XP network wizard on each laptop with no luck. I tried some ping tests with the following results:
When I ping a laptop from a desktop, I get a return ping
When I ping a desktop from a laptop, I can NO return ping.
When I ping the IP address of the router from a desktop, I get a return ping
When I ping the IP address of the router from a laptop, I can NO return ping.
I tried disabling the firewall features internal to the router with no luck.
All machines are running Macafee total security with a firewall. I made sure the firewall was disabled for these tests.
I would appreciate some advice.

Turn on file & printer sharing on all computers. Make sure they are all on the same workgroup. Do not use network wizard.
Log on to the router and setup your wireless settings & wireless security. Change the network name from Linksys to something else. Copy these settings on a piece of paper. Now go to your laptops and find the network you just created. It will ask you for the key or passphrase. Input the passphrase you just created. If it does not work you will have to manually configure your wireless settings that you written on paper.

Help with bizzare problem with WRT54G router

I have a WRT54G v2.2 router connected to 1 PC running Linux and a laptop running Windows XP which are both connected via Ethernet cable. The router is connected to a Netgear ADSL modem.
The issue which has occurred only recently is that the laptop has been blocked from accessing all sites except www.ninemsn.com.au.
The other PC can access all sites without issue.
I have tried restoring factory defaults, hard reset (using reset button and power down sequence) and updating to the current firmware. Nothing seems to unblock web access for the laptop.
I have connected the laptop to the ADSL modem directly and confirmed I can access any site. I have tried also booting to a Linux demo CD on the laptop, and this has had the exact same symptoms, which rules out the OS.
Running a netstat -a after opening a browser window to google.com.au shows an active connection, but the browser waits indefinatly for a reply.
Tried swapping the 2 ports around and also the Lan cable to no effect. Tried enabling the wireless adapter on the laptop and connect via wireless, but had the same symptoms.
I am at a complete loss as to why this has suddenly occured. The same configuration has been running fine for about 2 years.
Any suggestions?

Problems with WRT54GS router, PLS HELP

I have purchase a LINKSYS WRT54GS yesterday 12 Sept 2006 and setup wireless network in my office.
3 out of 4 laptops cannot connect to it.
All 4 laptops are already place very near the router.
They are able to detect the wireless, BUT can never connect.
Only one Laptop using PROLINK wireless network adaptor can connect to it.
Can anyone advise me ?

Access the setup page of the router and go to the "Applications & Gaming" tab. Scroll down below and look for the "Wireless QoS" option, enable the WMM Support and disable the No Acknowledgement.

hi...logon to router's setup page and try changing channel to 11, go to advanced wireless settings, try changing transmission rate to 54Mbps, beacon interval to 50, fragmentation and RTS threshold to 2304, also try upgrading latest firmwar on the router...check whether it maks any difference or not and let me know.

In my frustration , amongst lots of open web pages tutorials and other useless information , I come across innocent looking link and software to installed called Genieo , which suppose to help with any router .
Software ask for permission to install , and about 30 % in , my instinct was telling me , there is something not right . I stop installation . Delete everything , look for any
trace in Spotlight , Library . Nothing could be find .
Now , every time I open Safari , Firefox or Chrome , it will open in my home page , but when I start looking for something in steed of Google page , there is
''search.genieo.com'' page acting like a Google . I try again to get raid of this but I can not find solution .
With more research , again using genieo.com search eng. there is lots of articles and warnings . From that I learn do not use uninstall software , because doing this will install more things where it come from.
I do have AppleCare support but its to late to phone them , so maybe there some people with knowledge , how to get this of my computer

Genieo definitely doesn't help with your router. It's just adware, and has no benefit to you at all. They scammed you so that they could display their ads on your computer.

Problem with Advanced Routing in WRT320N

Hi, everybody.

I've a problem with Advanced Routing in router. My provider using routing and it looks like that:

Problem with two Xbox 360's being online at same time with WRT54GS router

Hey guys, I have a bit of an annoying problem. I have multiple 360 consoles which are occasionally online at the same time. When one is on, it either causes connection problems with the other or blocks the other from signing on all together. Both are using the official wireless adapters and are hooked up to my WRT54GS. Usually when one of them fails at the connection test, it's a DNS failure, but it has occasionally been an IP failure.
I've already tried:
-setting them both up with static IPs. This caused NAT issues and didn't really fix the problem with one of the consoles kicking the other off.
-forwarding ports to one while leaving the other alone, setting one up in a DMZ while leaving the other alone, and setting one up in a DMZ and forwarding the ports to the other. All three trials showed no improvement, and caused NAT problems.
Also yes, I do have UPnP enabled.
*sigh*
This problem has been driving me up the wall for months now. No one I've talked to has been able to figure it out. If anyone can offer me a solution I will forever be in your debt.

You can set a Static Ip on Both the XBOX and then login to your router and do Port Triggering, this may solve your problem.

Online gaming with wrt54g router

I am trying to play online games and I cannot get to any servers to play. My neighbor will start a game and I try to find him with a dedicated ip to the game, it will say connecting and then say connection failure. I have shutdown my firewalls but still no luck. Is it my router that is not letting me get to the games online. My playstaion 2 goes through my router and that is fine, I play all kinds of online games on my playstation 2. Why is it giving me problems when I try to play online games on my pc, please help

Do the following settings on your router for the Playstation...
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on your wired computer(desktop).In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1 and press Enter...Leave Username blank & in Password use admin in lower case...
On the set-up tab change the MTU Size to 1365 and click Save Settings...click on the Security tab and uncheck Block Anonymous Internet Requests and click on Save Settings...

Problems with Linsys Router WRT54G v6

My WRT54G router's power light will light up and stay solid for approximately five seconds and then the power light will blink...when the light is on for those short five seconds I can access really simple sites like google but not nothing when the light is blinking. I am also unable to access the router through the browser at any time ("The page cannot be displayed"). The computer is recently factory restored but works fine on other networks. I have heard that updating firmware might help, but I do not know how to do that since I cannot access the router. Would be grateful for any help.

Try holding the reset button in for about 5 - 10 seconds.
Then after it's rebooted, the config page should be accessible at
192.168.1.1

Having problem with WRT54G v5.0

Hi guys, i'm newbie here so Hi for everyone. My problem is that i just came from USA and i brought a WRT54G v5.0 router. My bro said to me that he was supose to set the router with our connection and everytihng, but he said that our firmware (the newest) is not working with our connection ( 'cos i live in brazil and here the internet it's not so good) and he also said that if i can find some link for download the 1.00.9 firmware it could fix the problem, but i'm not finding this firmware, so someone that knows where can i find it say here, please or someone that have this firmware could upload this? Please guys i need this router to play online games on my PSP.

Lag Spikes with WRT54G router

I've recently noticed that while playing numerous MMO games (Aion, Champions Online, and World of Warcraft), I've been getting lag spikes for the last few months, at first I thought it was because Aion and Champions were in beta stages, but I kept getting them in World of Warcraft, when I went back.
I bought a new WUSB600N USB adapter, because I built a new system and my old PCI card does not fit, nor does it nativly support vista or Vista 64 (which I am using). So I am not sure if it is the USB adapter, or my old WRT54G router. My fiancee is also having the same problem with her wireless G adapter in her laptop, so I bought her the WPC600N adapter and is still getting the same issue. When I connect via a cable I seem to be okay.
I also have all the correct ports forwarded, for World of Warcraft.
Now my question is, is it because I am trying to game with a wireless connection, or is it because of my router?
I was thinking of buying the WRT160N to see if it will fix the problem. Is there a better solution?
I am only about 10 feet from my router, so distance is not an issue.

Try to adjust the wireless settings on your router...
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on your wired computer(desktop).In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1 and press Enter...Leave Username blank & in Password use admin in lower case...
For Wireless Settings, please do the following : -
Click on the Wireless tab
(For 2.4 GHz)
- Here select manual configuration...Wireless Network mode should be mixed...
- Provide a unique name in the Wireless Network Name (SSID) box in order to differentiate your network from your neighbours network...
- Set the Radio Band to Wide-40MHz and change the Wide channel to 9 and Standard Channel to 11-2.462GHz...Wireless SSID broadcast should be Enabled and then click on save settings...
Please make a note of Wireless Network Name (SSID) as this is the Network Identifier...
(For 5 GHz)
Wireless Network mode should be mixed...
-Provide a unique name in the Wireless Network Name (SSID) box in order to differentiate your network from your neighbours network.
Set the Radio Band to Wide-40MHz and change the Wide channel to159 and Standard Channel to 161-5.805GHz...
For Wireless Security : -
Click on the Sub tab under Wireless > Wireless Security...
Change the Wireless security mode to WPA, For Encryption, select AES...For Passphrase input your desired WPA Key. For example , MySecretKey , This will serve as your network key whenever you connect to your wireless network. Do NOT give this key to anyone.
NOTE : Passphrase should be more that 8 characters...
Click on Advanced Wireless Settings
Change the Beacon Interval to 75 >>Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304 Change the RTS Threshold to 2307 >>Click on "Save Settings"...
Now see if you can locate your Wireless Network and attempt to connect...

Problems with WRT54G and Call of Duty 4 hosts....XBOX360

I have a WRT54G wireless router and an xbox360 hooked up wirelessly to it using the wireless adapter made my microsoft for the 360. The problem is that it is nearly impossible for me to connect to ANY host at all. My internet works fine and I dont have this problem with other games. I'm wondering if anyone can help me out with this. My isp is Verizon DSL, i have a Westell 5100 modem, that is about all else I can think of that may have any importance. Thank you for the help in advance.

Check the firmware of the router ... if possible upgrade the firmware .... Also try to forward the ports on the router setup page ..
