Could try another ethernet, if you have not already,  you also could try the different ethernet sockets in the modem again you might have done this.   Try the xbox erthernet cable with lap top or other device (not wise if the cable is faulty).
From what you post  I would be looking at faulty erthernet on the xbox, however to rule this completely try and get hold of another Hub or similar.

  • WRT160N Online Gaming connection spikes

When i play games online such as Americas Army or other FPS games i get good pings to servers (sub 40ms) but i still get spikes of lag every minute or so. I first started getting this some time ago with my old WRV54G and could find no way to fix it so recently i purchased a WRT160N v2 router to replace it. I also upgraded from a USB adaptor to a pci card in my machine to access my wireless network.
It seemed fine for the first few days but now it has started doing the exact same thing again... On my old router i tried everything, opened ports, DMZ etc and nothing seemed to help short of connecting my PC directly to my cable modem.
Any ideas what could be causing this?

I Hope that your are trying to play the Game on your Wireless Computer, I think you should do this settings on your Router and try it. I also tried this settings on my router and now i m able to play all the games online without any problem.
Open an Internet Explorer browser page.In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1
Leave username blank & in password use admin in lower case...
For Wireless Settings, please do the following : -
    Click on the Wireless tab-
-Here select manual configuration...Wireless Network mode should be mixed...
-Provide a unique name in the Wireless Network Name (SSID) box in order to differentiate your network from your neighbours network...
    - Set the Radio Band to Standard-20MHz and change the standard channel to 11-2.462GHz...
    - And wireless SSID broadcast should be Enabled and then click on save settings...
Please make a note of Wireless Network Name (SSID) as this is the Network Identifier...
    For Wireless Security : -
Click on the Sub tab under Wireless > Wireless Security...
Change the Wireless security mode to WEP, Encryption should be 64 bits.Leave the passphrase blank, don't type in anything...
Under WEP Key 1 type in any 10 numbers please(numbers only and no letters) and click on save settings...
Please make a note of WEP Key 1 as this is the Security Key for the Wireless Network.
    Click on Advanced Wireless-
settings>>Change the Beacon Interval to 75 >>Change the Fragmentation...
Threshold to 2304 Change the RTS Threshold to 2307 >>Click on "Save Settings"...
Now see if you can locate your Wireless Network and attempt to connect...

  • Gaming Connection Problem.......already an angry B...

As the title may suggest im already an angry customer of BT's having to wait around about 2 months for them to sort out our phone line to even recieve a dial tone. Now we have broadband which in itself is a mirracle. Anyway.....
Im a casual gamer (pc games - Bad Company 2) and have been for a long time. My problem is that im playing away and then i get dropped from the game because of connection problems etc. I believe this is called a connection Spike?
I've never had any problems with previous ISP's ive  been with (Eclipse, 02). my question is really...before i contact BT on Saturday....is theres any point????... is there something BT can do about this to make the connection stable...because really......this is becomming a bit of a joke...problem after problem...when we can leave BT....we will be.
    Cheers,
    Andy

check your NAT type before changing the UPNP settings.
If it turns out your NAT type is the problem give you PC a static IP address.

I have many more but I think you can see the issues.  I have opened and triggered the ports on the router and the firewall on the wireless computer for the game.  I have upgraded firmware and have spent countless hours on the phone with tech support from both Linksys and Verizon.  Still I can not get a stable connection to the game.
An example of my issues occured yesterday - cordless phone rang and my game froze untill the machine picked up.  The game resumed immediatly after.
I am 30 feet from the router.  All drivers are up to date.  The game is World of Warcraft.  Is there anything else I can do to improve my connection?
Thanks in advance for any advice!

I do not know what Linksys or Verizon support told you to do, but let's do this...
#1 At Status -> Router, is going to be the firmware of the router.
Firmware is like an OS. Usually firmware adds and fixes features.
    What firmware are you on?
The most update firmware for the WRT54Gv5, seems to be released on 07/01/2008
    Ver.1.02.6
    1.67 MB
    Source -> http://www.linksysbycisco.com/US/en/support/WRT54G/download
#2 At Setup -> Basic Setup, when the router is setup to use PPPoE - the router setup to use connect on demand or keep alive.
    b) If connect on demand, what is the max idle time?
    c) If keep alive, what is the redial period?
#3 With your modem not in bridge mode, in it go to Trouble Shooting -> Transceiver Status.
    And post the results..
If you are the original poster (OP) and your issue is solved, please remember to click the "Solution?" button so that others can more easily find it. If anyone has been helpful to you, please show your appreciation by clicking the "Kudos" button.

  • EA 3500 dropping wired connection when online gaming

I  just had Comcast setup my internet and it is really fast. 30 down, 10 up, 40 ping, my connection to my computer (wireless) is very fast and my online gaming (wired) is not laggy at all.
The problem lies with the connection dropping when I am online gaming. I connected directly to the modem and there's no problem at all. I connect to my Linksys EA3500 and once I start playing in an online game, I disconnect from Xbox Live and am dropped from the game... anywhere from right away until about 10-15 minutes into the game. This is  the only time where my connection falters at all, otherwise it is great. But I play online a lot, and competitively, so I obviously need a stable connection.
I have not had this issue with my previous ISP in New York, Time Warner and that connection was much worse. I'm thinking it must be a setting on the router that is causing this, but I can't pinpoint what. I tried automatic AND static connections from my xbox to the router. On the static connection, I even put a DMZ on it, but to no avail. What is causing this hiccup in the connection?
Any suggestions would be great, please and thanks!!

Are you already using the Linksys Smart Wifi? Set up media prioritization in the router and see if that will improve the connection with the xbox. Is the connection intermittent with other devices? Is there like a specific time in the day where your connection will drop?

  • Router problems with online gaming

    Hi,
I have problems with online gaming. My router is  Linksys wrt54g2 and modem is ZTE ZXDSL 831AII and with two computers. I can't play any onlines game for example Counter-Strike 1.6 or Counter-Strike: Source. When I'm trying to connect in those games servers when it loads too bars I'm geting error that says: "Connection failed after 4 retries". Also I can't play StrongHold, Combat Arms and Battlefield2. I try to bypassing my router by connecting computer directly to my modem and games works. What I should do? Please help me.

Do you have problems with web browsing or other online applications? If not, the problem may lie with the games themselves. It's possible the games require ports to be forwarded to work correctly. Check the game documentation and see if this is the case.

  • WRT54G - Online Gaming Problem

I have been trying for almost a year trying to get online gaming to work with my router. I've been trying to play Age of Empires 2. I've done about anything and everything to get myself about play. I know it's my router as when I connect my computer directly to the modem, it works and I'm able to play online. I can never see the room when I use my router. My router is a WRT54G v2.2. It's been upgraded to the latest firmware which is one of the things I tried with no luck. I have tried port forwarding, but it didn't work. I followed this website exactly and tried it more than once: http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Linksys/WRT54G/Age_of_Empires_II.htm But no luck... I also even tried to enable DMZ, but no luck either. I tried Hamachi too. We're able to connect and all, but nothing either. I don't know what's wrong, but if anyone can help, I will appreciate it greatly. However, maybe I did something wrong with port forwarding. You never know, but most likely not. Still...

  • Probs with online gaming due to subnet or IP addresses

When I first hooked up my router I had probs with Network Magic connections.
Now that I have it running better... I seem to be having a problem when gaming
    online.
My boyfriend and I have hooked up our pc's together and have tried gaming online
together... and it worked for a couple of days.  But with having some D-Link router
    probs... we reconnected everything.
Now I recall seeing two different subnet numbers for each of us before we redid
the D-Link... now they are the same...
So I am wondering if this problem is router related or does it lie with Network
Magic?  All I know is... that when I try to get on a multiplayer gaming server
I get kicked by Punkbuster saying:  'PB GUID AUTH: UNKNOWN'.
I think our online gaming predictament is due to my boyfriend and my subnet
numbers now being the same. (unlike before).
(If my prob does not relate to my router and Network Magic... than I thought
of putting in a Punkbuster Ticket to evenbalance.com)
Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. : )
Note: my firewall is configed to allow online gaming, so I know that's not the
    prob.

my modem is Pantech UML290     .i  notice cannot play any online games...my old 3g modem works perfectly with the same games but this new service as far as online games or this modem apparently has issues...i have had nothing but problems, high ping rates and packet loss as well as jitter and no one with the exception of 1 service tech apparently cares...they only care that you can connect and brows web to a degree....i have spoke to 8 techs only one cares and states their is a problem....i have tested this on speedtest.com upload and download speed is fast remarkably fast but inconsistant, the ping is terible and jitter and packet loss is even worse...i am going to try to replace the modem as last form of troubleshoooting, if that doesnt work then 4g can go in the trash until they resolve the problem....they advertise online gameing and video streaming for 4g...i cannot do online gaming will not even connect to game host due to high pings and data loss...and yet the new service wich is supposed to be much better and support online gaming doesnt work and my 3g device works without a problem, can play games all day long without i hitch and no one from tech can explain why....sounds like a problem..i have spoke with several people on forums they have all said the same thing....release tech and dontr know how to fix the problems....the response you will get is all we care about is that you can connect and view the web!!! wow so when i buy a car i guess all they care about is the car moves, they dont care if the ac worrks or anything else does to...thats the way its been explained to me time and time again...except for 1 tech...   the games that i have tried to play is BATTLEFIELD BAD COMPANY 2,     CALL OF DUTY MODERN WARFARE 2 ,  STARCRAFT 2,  noNE will work,  note been playing with old 3g device and service for over a yr with no problems!!  SOMEONE PLSE HELP!!!

I live out in the country and have no high speed internet so i bought the pantech UML290 and I have been able to play on the 4g network right out of the box. Plugin, install, and go. I Play Bad Company2 and my ping is usually 142. I connect to a chicago server from okc and my gameplay has improved so much more. I get 2 to 3 bars in my house and it flys on web pages.  I had the at@t lightning 3g and my pings on the same server were 185 but spiked up to 999 and back down to 180's . I love this UML290 and do not have Idea why you are having problems. I would return the uml and get another one. You might make sure the other communication software is uninstalled and worst case scenario, reformat the hard drive and start with a fresh install.  Can you give a description of your computer specs ?  Is this going through a cradlepoint router ? I would be happy to try to help, I know how much it sucks have a laggy gaming experience.

  • PANTECH UML290 DOESNT WORK FOR ONLINE GAMING PLSE HELP!!!

my modem is Pantech UML290     .i  notice cannot play any online games...my old 3g modem works perfectly with the same games but this new service as far as online games or this modem apparently has issues...i have had nothing but problems, high ping rates and packet loss as well as jitter and no one with the exception of 1 service tech apparently cares  TECH DID A PING TEST AT ADRESS  ping -a 66.174.92.14  result were request timed out 4 times, packets sent=4 packets recieved=0  pakets loss = 4 , total= 100% loss, funny thing is i was still connected to internet  and if you ping google.com 0 paket loss...  apparently consistancy or server recognition might be a problem i dont know...maybe modem is bad...either way i cannot play any online games what so ever, when tested at speed test.com and pingtest.com states high ping and high jitter as well as packet loss, no one seems to have an answer for this  note!! on old 3g device i had played these same online games without any problems...so this 4g modem and service advertises online gaming and steady streaming and i cannot do neither why???  someone plse help!!!  also if you look under vz access manager statistics tab, you will see transfer and recieve rates like a heart beat monitor....it consistantly goes up and down like a heart beat instead of a steady flow, goes up as high as 10mbs then drops for a while to 0kbs and stays their for a lil bit...it apparently is loosing communications....old 3g device was a steady transfer flow rate that never dropped to 0 unless i wasnt doing anything...so why is this as well?

have'nt had any phone call's today regarding the slow down of my BT infinity broadband line.. in the last 3 hours have been online on both the PS3 & the XBOX and the problem is still there... im host in every online game i play but each game is almost unplayable every time..the actual game i play as host on the PS3 runs really slow (only as host) and looking left/right has a blurry feel to it.. on the XBOX its running slightly quicker but still nowhere like it does on both consoles when im not hosting.. when ever everybody else hosts a game that i join, after speaking to them they have had no problem what so ever.. most seem to be on a cable ISP but the speed stats are very simular to mine.. just the hosting is totally different for me...???
    http://speedtest.net/result/1586999761.png
    http://www.pingtest.net/result/50309878.png
just tested my speed with the above score... i still cant work out why my line is being slowed down ....
just reiterate that my g/f works from home mon-fri 8am-5pm on a live server including emails etc... the live server would involve being logged on all day checking accounts including various stock levels etc.. so she is very busy pretty much every day..
im online with my PS3/XBOX prob a couple of nights a week plus as i do shift work,on my days off i play COD most of them days .. so prob around 40/50 hours a week playing online depending..
i chose option 2 BT Infinty unlimited because i new i needed a very good line with all mine and my g/fs needs..

  • Bad Latency ~ Online Gaming

Note: This is my first time posting on Verizon Forums, so expect me to be noobish @ this.I apologize for any grammer mistakes, English isn't my primary language. Before making this post, i did search up "Latency" and i found about 6 other threads with the same issue and around the same time i found out about my terrible lag.
~The TRACEROUTES AND PATHPINGS ARE FROM A HARDWIRED CONNECTION~
    Links:
    http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/3077000702
    https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/running-a-pathping-test
    https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/performing-a-traceroute
I have been playing online gaming for about 5years. I have been playing World of Warcraft(MMORPG) for about 4years. My DL speed is:56 and UL speed is:35. World of Warcraft has a built in meter that tells the latency at home and world(MS).  Somwhere around June 2013 my latency in game has spiked up from the normal # of 15-20 to 40-500. Through Verizon's POV this latency might seem normal. However, playing with lag everytime I play, makes me angry. After contacting Verizon about 6x i have given up hope for my issue to be solved.  The lag affects and limits the things i can do when playing the game. My connection is fine for everything else. It just happens to be World of Warcraft where the issues come in. I have done multiple Pathpings and Traceroutes to identify the issue.Aside, I have done multiple troubleshooting steps for both Verizon and Blizzard. After contacting Blizzard technicians, they have told me that the issue is through verizon's end. When i contact verizon , i get the same story over and over again. " There is nothing we can do!" I have actually talked to very unprofessional verizon representatives and have considered swapping ISP. However, let us be realistic-> Verizon is the best and no other company offers the same DL + UL. I have also considered uprgading to the 75/35 because Xbox One/PS4 is around the corner and adding another device that uses internet will be the ideal thing to do. I can't imagine if I will have these latency issues on my Xbox One.
Enough of the chat, i will link couple trace routes and path pings.

I had a pathping from June, can't find it anywhere..
Thank you ahead of time! I hope my issue is fixed because i can't stand it anymore.

You don't understand how irritated I am. Everytime i log ingame i start a normal "ms". I step into an arena game, my latency spikes up making my character run in place for about 4-6 seconds. I decided to keep it cool and expected it to eventually fix itself. Its been 5 months now, and the problem persists. I hope they fix this issue!

  • Office 2013 - The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete.

    Hi Team,
Just purchased and downloaded Office Home Premium and having trouble with Outlook. For what ever reason, I am unable to create account/add my email address ([email protected]) into the program. Through the set-up process it continuously
tells me that it is unable to connect to Microsoft Exchange, and that it must be online or connected to complete. In the end, it comes up with this pop-up listing a file. Something like that. Any pointers on how to resolve this or are a lot of people having
    this problem..
Also, I installed this on my laptop (OSX 10.8.2)
and it worked fine, but not on my desktop (Win8 Pro 64-bit)
    Thanks
    Andi

    Hello,
    Does OWA work?
Does this issue occur on other users?
In Exchange 2013, most of the internal and external client becomes to use Outlook Anywhere(RPC over http).
Please make sure the autodiscover.domain.com is included in the certificate.
    Thanks,

Hi I am having the same issue. Brand new computer, using Office 365 and trying to set up Outlook 2013 on Win 7 machine. OWA works fine. But cannot set up Exchange on my desktop.
I don't know what you mean by "In Exchange 2013, most of the internal and external client becomes to use Outlook Anywhere(RPC over
    http).
Please make sure the autodiscover.domain.com is included in
    the certificate."
Can you please walk me through this? Thank you.

  • The action cannot be completed. The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable. outlook must be online or connected to complete this action

I have outlook 2013 and am trying to add an exchange 2010 multi-tenant account.
I have created a new profile.
I select Manual setup or additional server types
Then select Microsoft Exchange Server or compatible service
I enter the server settings. But the following error is returned when i click check name
"The action cannot be completed. The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable. outlook must be online or connected to complete this action"
I have tried selecting more settings, selecting security, and then selecting the option:- Always propt for logon credentials.
But the same error is still returned
I tried deselecting the option Encrypt data between Microsoft outlook and Microsoft Exchange
But still continue to get the same error.
Reading from other forums I have tried restarting the Microsoft Exchange Address book service under services on the exchange server.
But this did not help either
i am able to access the email accout via outlook web access. I am also able to add the email account to my iphone with the server details and it adds fine onto my iphone but cannot add it to outlook 2013.
    any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi,
This issue may occur when the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders registry key does not contain all of the required data. Specifically, these problems occur if the
AppData string value is missing from this registry key.
NOTE: The \User Shell Folders key also contains a string value called
Local AppDatawhich is different from the value called AppData. The value that causes this problem (if it is missing) is the
    AppData value.
To resolve this issue, import the User Shell Folders registry key from a working Windows User Profile.
    For more information, please refer:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2264398
    Hope this helps.

I have looked in the registry and Appdata is not missing it has the following value "%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming" also Local AppData is there with the following value "%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local" i do not have a working machine to import the user shell
folders registry key so any other advice would be useful.
    thanks

In order to test what you suggested i created a windows 7 virtual machine installed outlook 2003 however i also get the error on the virtual machine that i have created.
any further suggestions would be a great help.

whenever i connect my iphone to pc while syncing mail in itunes a pop up" the connection is not available.outlook must be online or connected  to complete this action" please suggest me to solve this or bisable.

Cached exchange mode was already marked so that was not the issue.
I have done all the usual of creating a new profile, reinstalling Outlook etc but nothing seemed to work. I also tried going back to Outlook 2007 and reinstalling Windows but same problem.
However, I am not sure if it is connected but I was useing the option in MS Live Sync to synchronise Office settings which I turned off recently and now no longer have the issue. Unfortunately I cannot remember when in the process I did this so cannot be
sure it was responsible - anyone else found this?

  • IPad WiFi Connection Problems - WiFi Symbol Appears With Full Bars but I Don't Get A Checkmark?

I was using the iPad one day and then all of a sudden it stopped connecting to the internet. The network at this hotel is very good and I've asked them about their router so it is not the router's problem.
I go to the Settings and tap on Wi-Fi then I tap on the hotel network. After a few seconds, it says the network name beside the Wi-Fi tab and it gives me the WiFi symbol showing 3 bars. But then I never get the checkmark or tick saying everything is connected. I try going online and it says the iPad is not connected to the internet. I've tried an iPhone and it connected and got a checkmark in a few seconds. I've talked to the front desk and he took out his phone and showed me that he could connect, he even opened a page without any problems at all.
I've been trying to find a solution for this for a long time. I've been searching Google over and over again. I turned Airplane Mode on for 1 minute, I've tried Resetting my Network settings, I've tried forgetting the network and reconnecting again, I've tried removing all restrictions from the iPad, I've rebooted the iPad A LOT, etc.
So this is my problem for people who don't want to read the whole message:
    1. I can't connect to the internet with the iPad
    2. It shows the WiFi symbol saying its connected but I never get the checkmark or tick.
    3. It's not the router problem.
    4. I've tried other networks and it doesn't work. It just keeps on showing that loading circle right beside the network name.
    5. Do any of you know what this problem is? Or do you have a solution?
Thank you for reading this and have a great day

    Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
