Online help doesn't work
I have just installed HTML DB stand alone release on my W2000 9.2.0.5 database.
The install process worked fine.
But the HTML DB online help doesn't work. when i click on the help icon the popup is there but with no contents.
When i click on the link:
Find (initial index creation may take several seconds)
This errors appears:
Error creating online help index.
ORA-29273: HTTP request failed ORA-06512: at "SYS.UTL_HTTP", line 1022 ORA-12545: Connect failed because target host or object does not exist
I thought that my oracle text was not or improperly installed because the CTXSYS account was locked. So i decided to reinstall it but with no success.
I decided to reinstall HTML DB (local install this time)but again it doesn't work
I searched in the forum, but it seems that nobody had meet the same issue, except HTMLDB.com (reinstall of oracle text was the solution)
I would like to try this new product but with the online help

Just to clarify why this is happening this way.
The online help contents are not loaded nor indexed at installation time. In a new installation, the very first time the help window is displayed and you click the 'Find' link, the help contents will be fetched and indexed using Oracle Text. They are fetched via HTTP by GETting them from the Oracle HTTP Server (they are static files under the images hierarchy, after all).
The URLs to fetch the help documents are constructed using the SERVER_NAME CGI environment variable as a component of the URL. So at indexing time, the database will issue HTTP GET requests to a specific URL, and if this URL cannot be located or the name not resolved, then issues will arise like you have witnessed.

Even iCloud online help doesn't work
So far iCloud seems scary awful, at least on a Mac.
It should be, but isn't, patently obvious how to make backups start. I have everything selected except Mail & Notes, which requires yet another new email address, selected in the pane, but nothing is backing up. Clicking on the question mark at the bottom left of the iCloud pane always brings up a page that falsely states that I'm not connected to the Internet.
I'm trying to think of a more badly implemented out-of-the-box Apple product, but I cannot. The learning curve for iCloud should be almost zero, but that is far from the case.
In the 16 years I've been using the Internet, iCloud is the first time I can create no email address with one of my typical permutations. For instance, I can't create [email protected], because nothing distinctive is available. It would seem that Apple has chosen to not put defunct Mobil Me addresses back into circulation. So, rather than being able to use a personalized domain (e.g., [email protected]), I'm forced to choose something like [email protected] This is neither elegant not helpful.

Error while creating my first project on SP15 and why Help doesn't work?

I have a fresh SP15 installtion.
I have 2 problems creating my first webdynpro project.
1.When I go to file-new-project-webdynpro->(enter name)->next , I have windows poped up with the following error:

2.My Help doesn't work at all - it used to be (with SP11 slim) when i go - 'Help-SAP was docum-SAP webdynpro appl ' and I had my help window poped up.Now I dont have anything!

BobFor your information there's another solution if you don't wanna reinstall your NDS or if the reinstallaion doesn't work.
The error is in the resources so you have to replace some plugin resources to correct the error. Because of that you need access to the resources from somewhere else.
1. Go to c:\Documents and Settings\"username"\Documents\SAP\workspace\.metadata\.plugins and replace org.eclipse.core.resources with a "working" resource
2. Go to C:\Program Files\SAP\JDT\eclipse\plugins and replace org.eclipse.core.resources.win32_2.1.0 and org.eclipse.core.resources_2.1.1 with a "working" resource.
Restart NDS and it ought to work

How do I get my music from Media Center to my iphone 4s. Itunes 10.5 won't import the MC music library, and MC won't recognize and synch to the iphone plugged into the USB port so I can't load playlists from MC to my iphone. Itunes help doesn't work.

As you know, your iPhone 5 is not compatible with our iBook G4. To get your music in iTunes from your iBook to your iPhone you would need to migrate the music files to a newer intel based Mac. A Mac which has Mac OS X 10.6 or higher installed. Then sync your iPhone 5. -
Elements V4.0 HELP doesn't work
I'm using Windows XP with a ton of RAM and a ton of hard drive space available.
Having used Elements V2, I downloaded and installed the V4.0 TRYBUY. The installation seemed to work fine. However, the "Help option" in Elements V4.0 would not work. It's kind of hard to learn a new version without a manual or online HELP files!
I searched the Knowledgebase and forum messages for help on how to get HELP with the new V4.0. I DID find Knowledgebase Document 330621 that seemed to be applicable. However, "Allowing blocked content" in IE did NOT help. I then received error message "ahc.exe not found." I then searched the downloaded file TRYBUY for the HELP PDF file, but alas no such file was included in the TRYBUY download!
I have now uninstalled Elements V4.0. It seems I can't ask Adobe for help since I have to register Elements 4.0 before I can contact them - but wait, I don't want to buy and register before trying it out!
I'm willing to once again download TRYBUY and install again - buy first I'd like confirmation from someone that the online HELP function will work before doing so. Otherewise it is a waste of my time.Herbert,
Failing to disable Anti-Virus during installation has caused many seemingly good installations to have problems.
If you don't find another solution I would strongly recommend that you uninstall, track down and delete every left over folder, disable everything running in the notification area (systray) except the clock and reinstall.
I don't have 4.0 but the stray folders in 3 are C:\Documents and Settings\[user]\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop Elements and C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 3.0.

When I start to type any for of question into the "Help" box of ANY application the iMac just freezes and the beachball starts to rotate. Eventually the typing is entered but after quite a delay, probably 30 seconds per letter.
Anyone ever come across this before?Sometimes just closing and reopening the Help window will clear up the problem. Otherwise, you may need to delete the Help cache.

If that doesn't work, the problem may be caused by network conditions. It may go away by itself, though I can't say how long you should wait.
A persistent failure to load help data has been reported as an issue with satellite networks. Test on a different network, if possible. I've also seen at least one report that Photo Stream in iCloud can mysteriously interfere with Help. I'm not sure whether that's true, but try disabling Photo Stream, if applicable.*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). In the Finder, select

Link to online documentation doesn't work
Hi,
just a hint for the people at Sun: access to the online documentation http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/prod/comp.app#hic doesn't work
any more. Searching for single documents still works, but the entry point isn't accessible.
I'm trying to access the site from Germany, may be it's a regional problem.

Adobe Community Help Doesn't Work
For some reason, the help pages don't work, either in Photoshop CS5 Extended (12.0.4) or in Bridge (4.0.5.11). When I go to Help>Photoshop help (or Bridge help), I get the Adobe Community Help Page, but nothing on the right side of the page works. I can try to click on any link and nothing happens. (I am signed in, but that didn't matter.) I can only eanter a search request on the left and get search responses.
I was prompted earlier in the day to update Adobe Help with a thing called "airappinstaller". Adobe Community Help "about" page says I have version 3.5.0.23 and that my help is "up to date." I tried restarting but it still doesn't work. What's up?After installing the Adobe Air update I can reproduce the problem with Photoshop CS5 standard 12.0.4 on Windows 7 x64, Steve.
The cursor changes to a finger when I hover over the links in the right pane, but nothing in particular happens when they're left-clicked.
I can right-click a link and choose open in new tab. That does in fact open the selected page in a new tab.
I can click the link in the upper-right and the page opens in Internet Explorer 9, at which point all the links work, no problem.
I can see the Air installation was successful in the Windows Application log, but no error or other message is logged when I attempt unsuccessfully to use it.
I'm going to try logging off and on again. Edit: Nope, that didn't help anything.
No modifier keys get a left-click to do anything.
The Back button works.
I get a pop-up menu when I click on Welcome, Noel Carboni, but clicking on any of the entries does nothing.
I can click in the Black Search field at the upper right, and it puts a cursor there. I can type and when I hit enter the search causes the page to change.
When I hit the Home button all the little Ps etc. icons appear, and if I click on one it takes me to the page.
It seems like only the left-click function for navigating on text links is broken.
Anything else you'd like me to check?

Don't know why it didn't work for the old one. Maybe I've mistaken

have a fullscreen flash movie and have content out of the stage.

I recently installed CS5 on my Mac mini at work. Everything seems fine, except that the help function is broken. If I choose Help -> [application name] Help, I get a kind of hiccup in the window (the palettes disappear for a second), and then I'm left in the same application. Meanwhile Adobe Help opens up in the background, but nothing loads. If I switch to it, everything is greyed out in the File, Edit, and Window menus except Special Characters. There are no windows!
I tried letting Adobe Help just run for a while, and it happily sits there eating 25% of my CPU, but nothing ever happens. Rebooting doesn't help either.
I've read elsewhere about people getting an error message when trying to use Help, but I don't get that. It all seems to be working, except that it doesn't actually load the help file into a window where I can access it!
Any suggestions?

I installed an After Effects CS5 trial version and that seems to have messed everything up.
Now that I have the Master Collection properly installed, the Help function kept giving me error messages.
Now it's doesn't even open at all. The Help, instead, opens in a browser, but without the navigation tree on the left which is very suffocating. I imagine they separated it so that it would work well in the new AIR Help app.
Anyway, I need help with help. -
Photoshop CS5 Help doesn't work
I just installed Master Collection CS5 today.
I discovered that the keyboard shortcuts for changing Brush Hardness (Ctrl-Option-Cmd) now activates something else.
First thing I did was goto Photoshop Help, just to find out that the fancy new Air Help app doesn't work. It says something like "this installation is damaged, reinstall or call adobe."
Well I put the disc back in and there's no option in install the Help app.
So... I have no Help now. Any ideas?Make Layer 3 active and select all (Ctrl-A) and copy it (Ctrl-C).
Alt-click on the empty mask thumbnail, that will give you a white work area.
Click on it and paste (Ctrl-V).

CS6 Help Doesn't Work in Local mode

I have downloaded the trial and installed it Mac OS Lion. The help application does not work; the omly thing that it will display is the settings window. After downloading local content and clicking done, the window disappears, but when you click on the application icon, it again reappears. Simply put, I cannot view the help at all in the Help application, even though I have set it up to always use local content. Anyone else run into this?
thxThe fact that Adobe had a wonderful offline help application with search, linking, an index, etc. etc. Was one of the major reasons why I paid so much for the software.
However, when I installed it, I was as disappointed as everyone else that the help application has been put into disrepair by Adobe, and they had zero offline help available for everyone, and yet the application was still built into their software.
After many people complained, Adobe promised at some point to deliver PDF files, which is, frankly, the stupidest idea since PDF files themselves are not reasonable for a help system. Anybody creating a PDF help system needs to do all the work creating the index, formatting, and everything. It is a significant amount of additional work, especially given you already have a help system that has served people very well and worked very fine.
Then. When Adobe does finally got around to sending out PDF's for offline help, they gave half-assed documentation and guess what... It contained links to online content, such as blogs, and video resources, etc.
First of all... Links to online content DOES NOT WORK for offline help purposes.
When paying nearly $1000 for software, a major selling point is that you have some kind of documentation you can go through that tells you what features are in the new software you purchased.
We literally had ZERO documentation to go through upon purchasing this software and Adobe has SEVERELY dropped the ball on us.
It would be better to just remove the help system from the software completely, because it is a fraud and false advertisement at this point to claim that Adobe software has any kind of help system built into the software.
As you have learned now. Third-party web sites are NOT a substitute for a help file. They do not work OFFLINE. They don't even work ONLINE as a help system, really.
To pretend like you have an offline help by having it open in a half-assed software with a link to the web, or to give people PDF's that link to the web, is UNACCEPTABLE for people wanting an "OFFLINE" help system.
SO... Either just say "There is no offline help", or create an actual offline help system. Pretending like you have offline help when you don't have it and just giving us more links to the web is not working. Something is seriously broken at Adobe. -
Fuzzy edged fonts/Help doesn't work in 8.1.2.
Acrobat Reader 8 has just auto-updated to the 8.1.2. Now, all fonts are fuzzy-eded (as if the Windows 'Smooth edge of screen fonts' were switched off, which it isn't - it is set to Cleartype). Also, under Help the options for Help F1 and Online knowledgebase don't work. Any ideas?
I'm afraid that the only 'solution' I have found is to stop using Acrobat Reader and instead use expert PDF Creator, a superb free programme that creates PDFs from any programme by installing a printer driver, and letting it read all my PDF files for me. Works beautifully.

Adobe Online Store Doesn't Work
I don't know if this is the right forum to post this, but I didn't know where else to put it. Several days ago I tried to purchase Premiere Pro and the store won't let me. Each time I add it to my cart then go to check out, it replaces PPro with an Adobe product I already purchased several months ago. I tried adding other Adobe products instead and it does the same thing. I can't delete the already purchased product with anything else.
I reported it in a chat with two Adobe representatives from customer service and sales. The latter was clueless and kept trying to sell me another product when I was trying to purchase an upgrade then asked me what I was going to use the program for.
Does anyone know if the store is going to be fixed soon? I can't find a link anywhere on this website to report it other than to the worthless chat room or call. I understand calls have a holding time of about 30 or more minutes. I haven't seen any complaints about this in the forums so I'm assuming nobody is purchasing anything lately.I cleared the browsing history along with everything else in IE9 and it still doesn't work. I haven't tried using a different browser like Firefox because I've had problems with that browser before. I will try it, but I doubt it will make a difference. One of the chat reps told me the store was down so I'm assuming it isn't on my end. I'm just wondering how long will it be down if it is down. I didn't get any help from the two chat reps I corresponded with. They were clods.
I did a complete system restore and that didn't help either. I think the problem is with the store and not my computer. Why would a program I ordered months ago keep turning up in my cart then I have to keep logging in to go to checkout. I can never get to checkout because the little circle keeps spinning as if it's trying to do something. I can't get past that point and have to close the browser.
I'll try Firefox again and see if it works. -
"Help" doesn't work after update
After updating to 10.4.4, I can no longer get the "Help" directory to work. I enter a topic, and the machine searches for ever. Anyone with a similar problem or solution?
