Online movie problem
when watching films on a movie site, the film is split into scenes but for some reason when i click a scene the quicktime player plays the movie from the start
so basically i cant jump to a scene, i have to wait for the whole film to load up
can anyone help me
Need more information. Can you share the link to the site?
You say it plays in the QuickTime Player. DOes that mean it's not in a web browser page? If so, look to the right of the scrubber (area under the movie where the progress indicator moves during playback) near the VU meters. Movies that have bookmarks will have a drop down list of the bookmarks between the VU meters and the scrubber.

Have adobe flash 11.9.900 but can't watch online movies.
Since a windows update a couple of days ago I can't watch online movies. I have 64 bit windows 8 and adobe flash 11.9.900. The screen says I have to install adobe flash 10.0 or higher in order to stream a film. I have checked and I have the most recent player.
I have also done every step on the adobe flash troubleshooting page including managing add-ons, disabling active-x, removing cache etc...no change.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, fed up with windows 8 problems.Chris,
Just followed the link and I have been on that page before and have seen the animation but this time I couldn't see it. Went to check if activex filtering was on and it was, even though I'd set it as off. It's like the computer keeps changing what's on and off at will.
On youtube, the message install adobe flash 10.0 etc comes up. On any flash games (just clicked on random site to see if it would work) it says I need to install flash. On project free tv again says install flash.
Using ie10.
Thanks for getting back to me.
--->>>> just went back on that page and could see the animation....stumped. -
Which plugins to I need to watch online movie streams?
I can watch Youtube videos as well as streams such as Twitch. However, when I try to watch an online movie stream it doesn't work anymore. The loading wheel just keeps spinning, but no error message comes up that says that there is a plugin missing. I installed and updated the flash player and shockwave player, so which plugins do I need more? Java or silverlight maybe? Thank you

Yes, you can watch movies on your HD TV using the Digital AV Adapter and, of course, an HDMI cable. -
Trying to make my old 3G iphone an iPod for my 4 year old. I have found lots of ways to do so online. PROBLEM: It's been off for 2 years. When I charged it and turned it on it only flashes many different languages. Will only allow me to call emergency number. Any ideas how I can log on to it?
Im pretty sure what you are looking at is Set up Assistant where it shows different languages on the slider. If I am right then just slide to unlock and follow the prompts to choose your language, country etc.

Not been able to identify the right codec to watch online movies
Hi. I been trying to watch online movies from the movies25.com website. But i get this pop-up msg stating that the required Codec is missing!!!!!!! Can i get some help on this pls
Obviously that site will not work with the iPad at all. You cannot install plug-ins or codecs or anything at all on the iPad into any browser or anything else for that matter.
You can only download and install content from iTunes, the App Store and iBooks on the iPad. -

Online Shop Problems Pre-Ordering N97 in UK
I cannot find any other forum, and I seek to make this as public as possible because the way loyal customers are being treated by Nokia are think are wrong. If Nokia see fit to remove this post without sorting these problems, then fair enough.
I am disillusioned with the Nokia UK Online Shop and its practices. My experience has given me a bitter taste of Nokia and I consider that the whole operation needs an overhaul to gain confidence.
When making an order, especially a pre-order with a company that has a global reputation like Nokia, I expect several things. Firstly, to be kept informed as to the status of my order, stock availability and expected delivery date. I would expect a pre-order should get more priority over existing orders. I expect Nokia should aim to get every order if not delivered, at least shipped for the release date. I expect when enquiring about my order, to be given information especially when there is only a week to go until release.
There seems little point in making a pre-order when I can order from elsewhere quicker.
On 13th June 2009, I placed my order for a White Nokia N97 under order reference number CNLXXXXXXXXXX.
The Nokia UK Online Shop does not provide details at point of order about expected release dates, quantity, or shipping dates. I would expect Nokia to know about their own products first. The idea that Nokia are operating without any form of forward planning or logistics is quite amusing.
Shortly after I placed my order, I received an email advising that the phone has an anticipated shipping date of three to four weeks. This made me nervous and wondered whether there was a problem with the White Nokia N97 – after all, there is no information on the website.
On 15th June 2009, I phoned Nokia to enquire as to the status and was advised that there is nothing wrong and that the phone is “due” to be released on the 19th June and I should get my phone sometime after that. Unfortunately again, with less than a week to launch, Nokia did not have any firm information to hand either about their own products or their own systems.
Firstly, it seems Nokia don't know their own stock movements. Secondly, the fact I have to wait until after the 19th to receive the phone makes a mockery of the entire pre-order process and really does invalidate the whole premise when we have to wait beyond release.
Nokias own blog also guarantees that when you pre-order, “it will be shipped direct to your door from the production line so you'll have it the same day it hits the store in your country”. I highlight the relevent point here.
Receiving the phone AFTER it hits the stores is not the same day. When I pointed this out to Nokia customer service, I was advised:
“The N97 is due to be released on 19th June. If you bought it from a shop, you would have to wait for it to go from the production line, to a warehouse, then to a subsidiary warehouse before being sent to a shop. Hopefully therefore you will get yours before this.”
This is patronising and clearly an incorrect comparison given that the phone should be shipped from the factory. It twists what was in the blog which guaranteed delivery on release day, a guarantee broken in the US where I understand customers had to wait several weeks to clear the back log. This is very bad PR.
There were still a few days left before the 19th June. I relaxed a little and waited patiently for my credit card to be billed. Users on the forums were also showing concern especially when websites such as Expansys.co.uk and Play.com started guaranteeing dates and providing arrival times.
The fact that others can make promises and provide information where Nokia cannot, illustrate my point beautifully. Nokia do not have any information to suggest that users will even receive their phones by the 26th June.
By 3pm on the 17th June, my credit card had still not been charged and my order had not been updated. Users on the forums including a couple of users who had ordered yesterday, were receiving credit card charges and emails advising that their Black Nokia N97s were being fulfilled and shipped. At least for these, it looks like they will be receiving their devices in time.
I phoned Nokia once more to see if there was any problem with the White handset. I was again assured that there was no problem and that it is first come first served. But I had little to no reassurance as to when another batch of phones would be received and processed. It seems no one actually knows, least of all Nokia. If someone who ordered after me received their phone before me, I would be rightly angry and upset with Nokia.
I asked whether it would be worth swapping my order contents from the White N97 to the Black N97. I was advised I cannot make a change to my UNPROCESSED order without it being moved to the back of the queue.
I feel that Nokia have taken advantage of its loyal customers and strung us along by not providing any real information. If I had ordered an N97 from the Expansys website today, I could have had my phone tomorrow and for the same price as Nokia.
What advantage has pre-ordering given me? I haven't got my phone, my order hasn't been shipped, it hasn't been allocated, my credit card hasn't been charged. Nokia don't know when they can fulfil my order. By choosing Nokia, I have had no order tracking, no information, broken promises, no guarantees, delays and a substandard service. Worst of all, Nokia cannot get my pre-order to me quicker than Expansys.
Therefore, in summary, I make the following requests:
1)Make a pre-order count for something. A pre-order should get to me on time and get to me before it is released elsewhere. Otherwise there is no point of pre-ordering from Nokia.
2)Provide an “Expected Release Date” on your pre-order pages – when there are two different versions of the same product, users have to guess as to the availability of both.
3)Provide an “Expected Shipping/Arrival Date” on your pages – if you have two different products and I don't care about colour, I should be given the chance to order the one that will be in stock first!
4)Don't make promises that you cannot keep, no matter how informal they are.
5)After being found out, do not back track and pretend it means something else. Get the problem rectified by means of either meeting the deadline, offering a free gift, or offering an apology or explanation.
6)When I phone to find out when my order will be fulfilled, please, have some information available about your own phones and processes.
7)If you have two different versions of a product available and one is available first, let me switch without incurring penalty.
8)Give me a better service than other websites. If you cannot ship them quickly enough before the release date, you are either not shipping early enough, or not shipping quick enough.
In relation to my order, please tell me whether there has been a problem with the White N97, why those who ordered Black N97s on 8th June and 16th June are getitng their orders fulfilled and I am still waiting, and please tell me when I can get mine. Please also swap my product for the N97 Black if this will resolve any bottlenecks.Your complaint will not be seen by the people who run the UK shop here.
You need to use the "contact us" link if you want the correct people to see your comments.
I do agree with most of what you wrote as I have been let down twice in the past by the UK online store for pre-orders. Their customer service is uninformed, unhelpful and resort to telling lies. For those reasons I do not use them. -
I cant seem to play online movies, it tells me to get media player or adobe flash player
I have a problem when I try to watch movies especially Anime online, it tells me to download adobe flash palyer and when I try to download free apps it tells me to give my credit card details.
1. The iPad does not run Flash and most likely never will.
2. See this for setting up your iTunes account without a credit card. -

Prem.Hi,
I am facing the same problem. The backup was gracefully started and all the files-copying was fine until it completed with 136 out of 197 files backed up. Do you have any idea what caused the error and why only certain logs were backed up?

Online Games Problems With WRT54G Router
Hi There ppl,
I have a Lan House with 50 comps working, and most of my costumers are looking for online games entertainment (Cabal Online, Ragnarok, Dota, CS, 9 Dragon etc). We have an 8 Gb DSL connection and another one of the same speed for back-up (not running simultaneously at the moment). We should be having outstanding results for online gamming (and we were before installing the new router) but we are having several problems since we install a new LinkSys WRT54G router here. Our physical configuration is the modem, followed by the router, than three DLink Switches(24 ports) and my main computer. Everything cable
What we noticed is that the Internet connection looks normal (even using the command "ping", nothing strange appears, no timed out at all!) but online games (specially the above mentioned) have an intermitent connection. (Some times they connect, some dont)... Looks like it happens usually when I have the house crowded, but already showed also with it empty.
Another issue is that I am using the LinkSys Advisor to help identifying this problem, but I am getting even more confused, because its giving new information each time I refresh the "my network" window. Also happens when showing "My Network Settings" on the Support Tab.
Im using Firmware 8.00.0, what I think is the newest.
I didnt try any forwarding port issue yet, as I would like to receive more information about it (never needed to configure anything related before). Concerning the MTU value I already tryed withou any significantly result.
Please If anyone had the same problem, or have any idea of other possible tests, i would appreciate a lot.
Thank you and have a great day allHi there Helm,
Tks for your attention and reply to my issue!! Yesterday right after posting here (when we closed the doors and I could be able to work on it) I did get the latest one (8.00.2) and also set up manually the MTU value to 1500 (standard is automatic). I also unckeck the "anonymous internet request bock", "Multcast filter" and "Filter NAT forwarding", all of them were checked as standard. I also checked the "HTTPS Internet Access" (standard is only HTTP).
At a first moment I could get a very low sensitive better result (but the Lan was closed, so I had the entire 8Gb for my requests). I came back to work right now, and we have about 30 ppl in, mostly using the Internet, MSN and so... I am trying yo connect to Cabal Online, and GG-Esports (Warcraft, Dota) both of them giving the same problems as always... I am really getting tired and disapointed with LinkSys, I really though I would have much more than I am having right now.
Anyway I gonna keep trying each night to see what I cant get. I do post here If I find any solution (or if I really decided to move to another brand)
Thank you a lot and have a great night out there

9.2.2 install/move problem with G4 QS 2002
I have a G4 QS 2002 with two 500GB HD's. One is partitioned into six unequal partitions, Leopard, Tiger, Panther, System 8.6 - 9.2.2, Yellow Dog, and Scratch. The Leopard has a bootable System 9.2.2 and as soon I have 10.5 in my hands AND my problem is solved, will have the Leopard OS installed. The other HD has one very small emergency partition that was created by the installation of TechTool Pro with 10.3.9 and one "large" partition.
My problem is: 10.5 doesn't support/have the "Classic Environment" and I don't want to risk screwing up having a bootable 9.2.2 OS by the 10.5 installation, so I'd like to have the "System 8.6 - 9.2.2" partition be able to boot 9.2.2 instead but I haven't been able to achieve that yet.
What I've tried is:
1. Booted into 9.2.2 and attempted to do a copy but when booted into 9.2.2, it doesn't "see" the target partition because I don't let it reformat the partitions that it doesn't recognize such as the "System 8.6 - 9.2.2" partition when I boot into 9.2.2, so that partition and a few others are not mounted when I boot into 9.2.2 (I might let it reformat it if I can be sure which of the partitions it wants to reformat is which).
2. I created an image of the 9.2.2 bootable partition with Tiger's Disk Utility and tried to restore it with the "System 8.6 - 9.2.2" partition as the target. It didn't want to do that. I booted with the Tiger install DVD and restored the bootable 9.2.2 image to the "System 8.6 - 9.2.2" partition (selected the "Erase target" option). I restarted the Mac and I notice that the restored system folder is not graphically "blessed". I can choose the "System 8.6 - 9.2.2" partition as the startup disk but it won't boot and instead the Mac eventually boots another OS. If I restart and hold down the option key, I can see that there are two bootable volumes labeled "Leopard", the original one and the restored one which in the Finder and Disk Utility is labeled "System 8.6 - 9.2.2" but it won't boot with the "System 8.6 - 9.2.2" partition that way either.
3. I put the special version of the QS 2002 specific System 9 install CD into the DVD drawer, restart, and held down the "C" key, but the Mac eventually booted another OS. I booted into 9.2.2 and tried to launch the install SW but it couldn't see the "System 8.6 - 9.2.2" partition (see #1 above) and neither could any of the System 9 disk utilities with the CD. I boot Tiger, launch "Classic Environment" and try to run the installer but after a few screens it complains regardless if I let it do a clean install or update the restored 9.2.2 from the Leopard partition.
The options I think I have at this time are:
1. Boot into 9.2.2 and let it reformat the "System 8.6 - 9.2.2" partition if I can determine which partition it is and try the various steps again hoping that one will work.
2. Install 10.5 into the Leopard partition and hope that it doesn't screwup the ability to boot 9.2.2 afterwards.
3. Install 10.5 into the "System 8.6 - 9.2.2" partition, which is half the size of the Leopard/Tiger/Panther partitions, and live with the smaller size (or try a partition utility like iPartition, DiskStudio, or hope that the DU with 10.5 can resize partitions without really deleting them first).
4. Do what I did originally, locate my System 9 install CD, see if I can still boot with it and install a generic System 9 into the "System 8.6 - 9.2.2" partition and update the SW with the QS 2002 specific System 9 install CD so it is bootable.
5. Try a cloning utility like CCC, SuperDuper, etc. and hope it works better than creating an image and restoring it (isn't that how Apple intends for us to do backups and recoveries?).
6. Back up everything even though making images doesn't seem to be foolproof, repartition the HD and reinstall/restore (I don't like this since I don't seem to have the image/restore process working to my liking and this would take a very long time (maybe 10.6 will be shipping by the time I'm done but I doubt if it Apple will support G4's with 10.6)).
OR somebody tells me what I'm doing wrong or why my efforts don't work or what is the process that achieves my end state.
TIA.Hi, barubin -
If a volume (volume = an unpartitioned drive, or a partition of a partitioned one) does not mount when the machine is booted to OS 9, this usually means the drive or the volume does not have OS 9 drivers installed. This usually results when the drive was last formatted using OSX's Disk Utility to initialize the drive, and the option to install OS 9 drivers was not selected.
Article #106849 - Disk Is Available in Mac OS X But Not in Mac OS 9
If a volume does not mount when the machine is booted to OS 9, then OS 9 can not be installed on it using an OS 9 Install CD (since it is not available to, can not be 'seen' by, the installer app); and it can not be used as an OS 9 boot volume (if OS 9 can not mount the volume, then OS 9 on it can not mount itself).
The above article suggests one possibile way to recover from that without re-initializing the drive - boot the machine to OS 9, run Drive Setup. Select the drive in question (Drive Setup can not do this for a single partition of a partitioned drive), then choose Update Driver from the Functions menu. Note that this is a non-destructive function - no data will be lost from the drive whether or not it works. If it does work, the drive, and its partitions, will then be mounted on the desktop.
Unfortunately that recovery method rarely works, and it then becomes necessary to redo the partition or the drive.
This can be done using OS 9's Drive Setup, but only on a whole-drive basis - Drive Setup can not re-initialize a single partition of a partitioned drive.
It can also be done using OSX's Disk Utility; Disk Utility may be able to redo a single partition of a drive (I don't use OSX so can not test that), but it is probable you would need to redo the entire drive. Be sure to select the option to install OS 9 drivers when using Disk Utility - that option is not always selected by default.
In either case select Mac OS Extended as the format.
<hr>
OS 9 has a boot limitation - the volume it is on can not exceed 200GB. 190GB is a safe max volume size to pick for an OS 9 boot volume when partitioning a drive.
<hr>
The installation of OSX (any version) on an OS 9 boot volume should have no effect on the OS 9 install or its bootability, provided the install method is a simple installation (no Archive and Erase, etc.).
<hr>
It is not necessary to use a cloning utiity to move/copy OS 9 to a different volume or drive, and have it be usable. OS 9 can be installed -
• From an Install disk valid for the machine
• Or by doing a simple Finder copy of it - drag the OS 9 Syatem Folder (and its associated folders, such as Applications (Mac OS 9) and Documents) to the target volume and let go, letting Finder copy it there.
Usually a copied OS 9 System Folder is usable immediately.
Occasionally it will arrive unblessed - it will not display the Mac OS glyph on top of the folder icon. The solution for that is to re-bless it. This can be done one of two ways (best done while booted to OS 9) -
• Open the System Folder, double-click the file System to open it. Close System; close the System Folder.
• Drag the files Finder and System out of the System Folder; close the System Folder. Drop the files Finder and System back into the closed System Folder. -
Jittery MC movement problem with AS 2.0
Pardon me if this is a simple, obvious thing that I'm missing, but I'm out of options after searching all over the place for an answer. I'm having trouble with something that used to work fine for me in previous versions of Flash (MX and CS3), but now that I'm updating my website using CS4, I'm encountering a problem, that didn't exist before.
I'm trying to slide a movie clip that contains buttons horizontally at varying speed based on the distance from the middle of the screen. Everything worked fine when I did it years ago, but the movement of the sliding MC now is very jittery. Even old versions of my website when loaded into CS4 appear jittery even though they didn't years ago.
I tried everything I could think of....
1. increasing the fps from 30 to 60 or higher
2. publishing at various settings: player version, AS version, hardware acceleration, etc.
3. placing all images/MCs on round numbers instead of floats
4. changing the _quality setting to "BEST"
So I boiled the problem down to its most basic element, I took everything out and created a single MC with two images on it moving to the right via onClipEvent in the following code embedded in the MC:
onClipEvent(load) {
_quality = "BEST";
onClipEvent(enterFrame) {
this._x +=2;
Both images and the MC are on round numbers and the _x increment is a round number: 2. 30 fps, published as Flash 8, AS 2.0, saved as a CS4 .FLA document. Image smoothing is on.
Here is a link to the exported sample:
paullewis.us/test/index.html
If you watch the clip, wait until the photos go out of frame... at some point, the movement will be jittery.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have some nice, new photos I'd like to add to my site and this problem is driving me crazy! Thank you.kglad,
I'm seeing the same hesitating horizontal movement on your clip that I'm seeing on mine. I checked using Firefox and IE, and am running both on 64-bit Windows 7 with the most recent Flash version (10.1.102.64). I thought that it could be some issue with my video driver/card/settings so I also checked my .SWF on a Windows XP machine and saw the same jittery movement.
When you view your clip, does it appear 100% fluid, no hestiation?
Thanks!
Paul
