I have win xp pro w/ sp3 and dual core 2.5ghz cpu, 500 gb hard drive and 3 gb ram on my desktop. mylifetime.com and other sites online movies won't play, but they will play if I use IE8.

Depends on your screen resolution. System Preferences/ Display you will see the different screen support resolutions. Does it support 1980x1080? That is what HD resolution is. That being said on a screen as small as a MacBook Air you won't see any difference and if you are connecting to a monitor the display output is:

My file .mov won't load (or) play when put on the server ? Yet it works fine in my local network.
The source in DW is = vid.jpeg and the link = vid.mov
I opened the movie in QuickTime player and save it for the web. I pasted what was required...
Can someone help me with this one ?

Could be any number of things. We would need a link to the actual on-line page to diagnose further.

They are not on the iphone in the first place. It is just a setting that allows you to see the songs that are available in icloud, but not on your iphone. If you turn the setting to off, then you no longer see the songs that are in icloud, but NOT on your iphone.

Downloaded Movies won't work or play in iTunes

I'm running the latest version of iTunes, and am on Windows 7. I have a bunch of movies that are in my movies library on my computer hard drive, but when I try to open the movie file with iTunes, nothing happens. All the movies are in MP4 or M4V files too.

I have purchased movies recently that will not play or syn shoc with my iPhone 5, all I get is a black screen. Oh, and it really ***** I can't fix my movies because I can't freakin' see them, the window is too small and hard to move. You can download and install MPlayerX free from Apple App Store. Works great for AVI and other movie formats. I had issues with some AVI's and MPlayerX resolved them.

Rented movie won't play "not compatible with Apple TV"

Using my apple tv, i rented a movie from the iTMS. When I try to play it I get an error message saying it can't be played because it's incompatible with Apple TV.
Troubleshooting: I unplugged the ATV for more than 5 minutes and replugged it. I checked to see whether purchased music still plays (it does) and whether purchased tv shows still play (they do). I can also go to iTMS and view previews of movies.
So everything seems to be working, except this movie. (I have two other rented movies but they don't expire for a couple weeks; this one expires in 22 hours so it's sort of imperative i view it today or lose it, and i can't do the one final test -- see if the other rented movies play ok -- because then the 24-hour ticker on those would start, and i'd have only enough time to watch one of them, and not the one that's already set to expire in 24 hrs.
ironically, the only support thread i could find on this particular error message for apple TV-acquired media, involves this same movie, "An American Rhapsody". That question was posted more than a year ago and never was resolved. (see http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1492298)
It's a little frustrating that the only apple support i could find for this issue is email support, promising me an answer within 24 hrs. So it's unlikely an answer will come in time. Maybe they'll help arrange a credit to my account after the fact. But (and i'm a big fan generally of apple and apple support) it seems like there ought to be customer service to cover the situation where someone buys (in this case, rents) something and can't get the promised product.
I've spent 90 minutes trying to solve this and the friend who was going to watch it with me just left, but i'm still curious to see if anyone can propose a fix. thanks!

you should use the "report a problem" link that is on the email invoice you get.
this will take you to the itunes section to report an issue with a particular purchase.
or go to "view my account" in itunes and then choose "purchase history"
if it didn't work you'll most likely get a refund.

What exactly is your problem? Is it, (a) your Mac doesn't read your external disk, or, (b) you can't retrieve your videos, or, (c) you can't play them, or, (d) you were able to play them at one point, but not any more.
What version of Mac OS X are you using, what app are you trying to play your videos with, what happens when you do, and what error messages, if any, do you get?

Selected Movie Won't Play on Your Display!

I've purchased a new Mac Pro a few months before this problem arose, so the bug could be related to moving my files to the new (albeit currently authorized) computer, but I doubt it. I am suddenly unable to play my purchased movies (such as "UP" in HD) without a new monitor apparently.
I have an Apple Cinema Display, and also view my movies with AppleTV. These movies previously played on both without problem. Now, iTunes won't let me play the movie on either!!? I did recently re-download all purchases, and I think the newer movie versions are a part of this problem if not the most likely culprit. I am running iTunes 10.4.1 & OS 10.6.8 on a Mac Pro 12-core with a 27in Apple Cinema Display, AppleTV 2 and an Airport Extreme 802.11.n for my Wi-Fi.
I've tried restarting the computer, repairing permissions, adding the movie to a playlist, burning to data DVD and re-importing with no avail. Can someone please tell me how I can fix this?
I hope this is a bug, and not representative of the DRM policy at Apple. Who on EARTH would just go buy new HDTV and computer monitor to satisfy the DRM of Apple? This is either bad policy or a very bad bug. I hate to say this, but this is why people are justified in looking for apps that break DRM. If THIS doesn't qualify for fair use of material I've purchased, I don't know what does. Can I just play the media I've purchased on my "authorized" Apple devices?
Sorry for the rant mixed in with the question. Thanks to anyone who has suggestions that will help me here.

Ok,
I found a way to remove the DRM from the movies I've purchased from iTunes. Unfortunately, this means they've kicked me back to DVD and I will steer well clear of digital movie purchases for a long time. Also, I'll have to advise others to do the same.
Realistically, the new version of iTunes or OSX (updates seem to be the problem as my laptop does not experience the same issue with these files) should have come with a large-print warning that I may be unable to view purchased movies if I installed the updates.
Some people will shout that it's my fault for not reading the fine print of these downloads, but if you think every consumer who might purchase from iTunes or other online media stores should read all fine print of every security download or other software update just to ensure large corporations don't use the fine print to steal content you've purchased, then you are; a) smoking something b) a lawyer c) a half-wit.
I do love Apple products, and will be the first to admit that I'll support them anytime the lines are gray (and am trying hard to support the new Final Cut Pro because I think it's going to be awesome for everyone), but this is pretty clear-cut, bad behavior.
It's probably great grounds for a class action lawsuit. I've certainly been invited to join successful lawsuits that were based on MUCH less.
I wish I could help others who have this issue, but for obvious reasons the best I can tell you is to go purchase the movies on DVD and avoid iTunes or other digital media vendors.

My movies won't play on my ipod

I just downloaded some movies to play on my ipod touch but they won't play on my ipod for some reason. all of them are mp4 files and h.264 (i don't know what this means but seems to be useful when I searched online to see if I could find answers) format (?). They play on itunes but when I try to sync it with my ipod, they won't copy because supposedly they cannot be played on this ipod. my ipod touch model is the one just before the model with the camera attached came out. (ver 4.2.1 is what it says in the info).

There are many flavors of H.264 and not all are compatible with the iPod. You may have to use a program like Handbreak to convert. This program has presents for the iPod/iPhone

Thanks .Ralph. The problem is only on the iPad 2only. I have an iPad 1 as well and it never had the problem. The only videos that I have tried are you tube and the tutorials on apple.com. I have absolutely no problem on either of my laptops or desktop PC's. Only the iPad 2. I am a new Apple user, so not very familiar yet with the product, but this is an absolute deal breaker for me. With Apple's reputation I was not expecting any such problems and it is beyond my skill set to solve it. Very frustrating. Again, no problem with you tube videos. I don't watch movies, so am not a Netflix member and haven't tried that yet, only you tube videos and apple.com tutorial videos. I have to watch those on my laptop. Again, I found a fix to the you tube problem. It was a link to a site. www.youtube/html5. html5 video player trial that you click on and once done, the videos on the you tube app started working great. They were doing the same thing as the tutorial videos prior to that. No such luck with the other web videos, at least the ones that i have tried. Hope this is enough info and understandable. You might check out the html5 site. I didn't thoroughly understand why, but it worked. You may understand it better. I am a proficient user, but far from an I.t. Pro. I have read Many posts with similar problems, but no simple solutions and the ones I did try didn't work. Speed tested well. Channel is set to auto and always different than neighboring networks, usually channel 11. Tried disabling QOS as suggested....no good. I am completely stumped. Any help is greatly appreciated. IDVD autoplay movie won't play in DVD player

My IDVD movie won't play in a DVD player when created in autoplay mode. It plays fine on my computer both in preview and on my computer's DVD player program and it works fine if I create a menu and button, just not if I create it in autoplay mode. I've tried it on my work compter and three DVD players and it won't play in any of them. Can anyone help, please?

I have been using my apple TV seamlessly with all my apple products (Mac Mini, iphone, MBP, ipad). Everything worked perfectly until recently (I noticed the issue about 3 weeks ago), when the apple TV won't load and play any movies from my iTunes library located on my MBP. The Library loads, and I can see everything, but as soon as I press play, the spinning load icon appears and doesn't stop. Same when I play movie from itunes directly and send it via airplay. Desktop mirroring no problem.
I have checked, and films are being played perfectly from my other devices, as does airplay and mirroring

For Apple TV to access your library while the host computer is asleep, "Wake for network access" must be turned on.
Open System Preferences > Energy Saver and select (enable) the "Wake for network access" option.
In addition, the network that the host computer and the Apple TV (2nd or 3rd generation) is connected to must support Wake on Demand feature. This works by partnering with a service running on your AirPort Base Station or Time Capsule called Bonjour Sleep Proxy.
