Online Number Always busy

Hi,
I have setup an online Number in Geneva, Switzerland last week. After setting it up, I have tried to test it by calling it but its always busy. I wonder if there is an activation period for such numbers. If this is so, can any body tell me how long it takes for online numbers to become active?

Hello Omer and welcome to the Skype Community Forum
Your Online # should become active within a few minutes of purchase. If it didn't please 
first check that your privacy settings are set to ''Allow calls from anyone''.
Then change them to "Allow SkypeIn calls from Only people from my Contacts List".
Save and wait for 5 minutes.
Log out from your Skype account and log back in.
Change settings back to "Allow calls from Anyone".
Save and wait for 5 minutes.
Log out from your Skype account and log back in.

    I'd bought an online number. I've been testing it calling from another number, and it gives me BUSY sound while it is not busy, and on another moment it gives me the message "the person you are trying to reach is unavailable right now........ " and again THAT is NOT TRUE. I am there!.
    Why? and where is the skype technical area to get a proper answer and a solution to this problem?

    Busy signal means your call preferences are set to receive calls only from online contacts. Problem for me os on MY side it says set to receive calls from everyone bit on THEIR side it says contacts only. And no one there is allowed to change it :/

  • Online number is busy when called

    I signed up for a new online number today. Paid for 12 months. It works for outgoing cals, but when you call the number it's always busy.
    I even tried to activate call-forwarding, but when called the number is busy.
    Any ideas?

    So do I have such a problem. very frustrated

  • Change online number for business

    Hi,
    I've used Skype for many years now and have had a personal account for it. When I started my own business I associated a Skype Online Number as by business number to my account. Now the business has grown from 1 to 10 people and although I've created all their accounts, my business nr is still associated with my personal account. 
    This is an issue cause I don't want to receive business calls in my personal time and vice-versa. I've read in a post that Skype cannot move online numbers, but I find this a ridiculous statement.
    I don't want to reprint business cards and letterheads or change websites for something that is number portabilitity inside the same operator (which telecoms do for over 20 years).
    Can Skype provide a solution? If not then Skype is clearly not a business product.

    How is it all th other European community members have Skype numbers and yet Espana does not? There aren't any regulations because Europe assures us of interoperability of regulations. This must be down to 'the arrogance of' the individual telco operators in Spain. Incidentally these companies are basically BT (UK) and Vodafone (UK).
    Come on public how long are we going to put up with being continually ripped off by 'these money grabbing Corporate CEO sociopaths'? They won't change their behaviour unless their 'greed' is exposed at which point competition drives them to change. In this case it looks like a classic case of 'a dark conspiracy to maintain exclusion of' cheaper telephone calls.
    Has nobody noticed how Spanish connections via Skype are almost impossible at certain times of the year or certain times of day? The data channels are controlled and Skype traffic is restricted by the same companies who own the network infrastructure. Gone is the apparent principle of democratic free access to the internet.
    The usual response to high data demands is to build extra capacity. In this case the response is to keep the limited capacity and argue that traffic throttling is a necessity. Spain suffers from restricted data capacity which in turn impacts Espana's economic growth. Everyday individuals running startup businesses suffer difficulties that do not exist in other European countries.
    This is because of the satyrical greed of a select group of telephone companies? Well it is a question, one that everybody should start to ask. Why?  ...and why no Skype numbers for Spain?

    I'm glad you took a moment to read through the legal stuff, and found that point.  Skype does claim ownership over the Online Numbers it offers.  In practice, for most countries, there should be no need to worry about Skype making changes to your number. 
    It is possible that the number could be changed in the future, if something in the country or area where your number is changes - i.e., changes in area/city codes.  If the changes are imposed upon Skype by its partner providing the Online Number in that country, or by local/national regulations in that area, Skype would have no choice but to make changes to numbers.  In the past, numbers have been cancelled when Skype and the local company providing the Online Number service to Skype have ended their business relationship.  This could happen again in the future for numbers in other countries.  Anything is possible, but how likely this is may be minimal.

    I have troubleshooted and posted on here and changed privacy settings and upgraded to the latest Skype version and have been in a continuous online feedback loop w/ Skype desperately looking for answers.  MAD! 
    My 3 month online number does NOT work, and now Skype is sending me emails saying that I can extend it.  No way. I want my money back, and I want the number to work.  Do I really need to buy MORE credit in order to get an answer? will absolutely abandon skype.
