Online number same as iPhone Number

If i have the same number, when i get an incoming call (whilst in wi-fi area), will the call go to skype (and thus free), or to my mobile (where i get charged an international incoming rate)?

Have you enabled Caller ID for your Skype account? Online Numbers are not automatically used as Caller ID when calling telephones from a Skype account. You should be able to go into your Skype program - or log into your account on the Skype web page - and enable Caller ID. Note that not all Online Numbers can be used for Caller ID.

If you have not enabled Caller ID for your Skype account, callers may see numbers that do not look like a "normal" phone number showing up when you call them. Depending on where you call, callers may still not see your Online Number on their Caller ID once you enable that on your Skype account.

Calling Online number with Mac and iPhone running ...

I'm running V5.3.0.1093 on OSx Lion, I have the latest version running on my iPhone4, when I call my online number from a landline both the Mac and iPhone ring, if I answer the call on my Mac the iPhone continues to ring until the end of the call.
This only happens when the Skype app is running in the background on the iPhone, I also get a missed called notification on the iPhone. The is very annoying as I can't mute the ring or adjust the volume, the mute button and volume control on the phone is rendered useless!!

My response might not make you very happy but it is what it is, firstly the call forwarding works by your skype phone calling you and directing the call. Meaning you are getting a call from skype not the original phone meaning you cannot get caller ID. Second Your skype VM only works when the call is unanswered and if your mobiles VM answers it is not unanswered. It is approximately the same effect though except mobile VM costs money and skypes does not.

Me and my dad share the same online number for friends and colleagues to call us, but it seems that the calls that come through to me are ad-hoc whilst my dad gets every call on his system. I just wondered if this is because 2 systems are trying to access the same online number?

Okay, I'll ask this a second time. I'm starting to wonder if there's actually a customer service department around here or not...
I am a Phoenix area resident, but I'm currently working overseas. I set up a Skype online number so that people could call me back home. In particular, I am getting ready to start grad school and I need this number available to take calls from my advisors.
Unfortunatley, I get about 2-3 calls per day from different numbers. People claim that someone from my number keeps calling them and hanging up. Obviously, this is not true. I'm not even logged in unless I'm home.
Because I am expecting important calls on this number, I can not block calls that are not on my contacts. That would block calls from people whom I need to speak to. I need this mystery resolved as quickly as possible. I have paid good money for this number and I do not want to have to shut it off.
Is there any actual customer service department here, or am I on my own? When I posted the question, I didn't mean "Oh, ignore it and make me wait 6 days."

The only way you could make your home number appear as Caller ID when you call from Skype is if your home number can receive the SMS messages sent by Skype in the verification process. In most places, landline phones are not able to receive SMS messages, so your landline telephone carrier would be able to answer that. If the landline number can't receive SMS messages, then you would not be able to use it as Caller ID with Skype.

How do I stop, cancel or block my Online Number?!?...

I checked many of the FAQ's at the Skype forum, but I can not find any answer to my question. I really hope somebody can help me out with the following:
I do have an online number for one of my clients, but I need to stop or transfer this to my new Skype account asap! (my old work is still receiving calls on this online number).
Can I transfer, block or stop this number asap? (even though I already purchased the number in advance for 1 year). I'm even willing to block the number and buy a new one when possible. (and to loose my already made one year payment for this existing number)
I really do hope somebody can help me out!

If you are sharing the same Apple ID registered with iMessage and FaceTime on each device, this is by design and intention for those with an iPhone and other iOS device and/or Mac that don't share the devices or their Apple ID with someone else.
You or your teenager need to use a different Apple ID registered with iMessage and FaceTime. You can continue sharing the same Apple ID for iTunes Store purchases on each device.

Skype Online Number is not working!!!!!!

I've recently renewed my online number subscription and none of my friends of family can get hold of me. I'm really disappointed! My skype number is +1[edited for privacy]. This number does not work at all - can you please advise me asap - is it possible to change this number?

Does anyone know how to complain to Skype? I paid $30 for a Skype number, which has never worked. Everytime people call me they are directed to a voice mail. And it's not because my Skype is not turned on. It is!! Just to make sure that the problem was not at the end of my callers, I did a little experiement and called my Skype number (after turning on the iphone skype app), but got the same result as others -- a voice mail recording. It is very frustrating because there is no recourse. Skype is taking us for a ride. It's a scam.

RTX Dual Phone and Online Number

I'm planning on getting RTX Dual Phone with an online number to replace my land line. The requirements specify Broadband Internet connection (I have DSL service and a router with open ports).
The requirements also state 'landline operator subscription'. What does this mean? My objective was to replace the landline?
The RTX dual phone package comes with 2 handsets. How many will it support and where do I buy extra handsets.
Can I set Skype on my computer to the same online number, so that it rings when my computer is on.

Hi, If you buy a Skype phone and an online number anyone who calls it either from a landline, mobile or Skype ID, the phone will ring. If you are signed on on another device be it a computer or IPhone app all devices will ring. As long as the Skype phone is switched on and has Internet connection it will be online 24 x 7. I had exactly the same problem and just chatted to a Skype Customer Service agent for about half an hour where they made me jump through incredible trobleshooting hoops that any trained money would know was not addressing the real issue. Eventually they admitted that you cannot use 00 to replace the + when calling a Skype number from a landline or mobile. My Skype number works fine if I make the call to it from within the Skype dialler but not from other phones dialling to that number Internationally. Also on my iphone I held down the 0 to produce the + sumbol and typed in the rest of my Internationa number and even that didn't work. This is a pretty horrendous major issue and I believe that anyone who has paid for a Skype number that needs to receive calls to it from overseas needs to be reimbursed or this issue MUST be fixed immediately. It's completely crazy and unnaceptable. Quite a con!

Can I take calls made on my Online Number using Skype 3 MobilePhone? Is there any cahrge for that or do they count as just calls made to my Skype account (and no forwarding cahrges apply)?

It all depends on what country you are in, where your callers are, what telephone carrier serves those callers, and what your number is. It is possible that callers could be liable for call charges, depending on their location and your number.
Please don't post complete numbers here. If you post any numbers, please replace the last 4 digits with XXXX. Someone here may be able to do some research, depending on the situation and how much information for the telephone carrier your callers use is posted online. Otherwise, they - or you - would need to contact that carrier to ask why they are incurring STD (long-distance) charges instead of the calls being treated as local calls.

Our online number is not working when trying to call from Telia mobile phones in denmark. I have checked with Telia in Denmark and they tell us that the problem is a "prefix" that is set wrong from SKYPE's side?
Could someone at skype please help get this fixed, as some of our customers can not call us.

Online Number Not Working

I bought an online number and to the best of my knowledge it is activated. When I call it, it will just ring and go to voicemail, but it does not ring on my computer or mobile phone (android with skype installed and running). Please help me remedy this. I have been to the FAQs and have changed the settings to receive calls from anybody, and even switched my preference back to "contacts only" for five minutes and then switched it back to "anyone" again, but to no avail. I still cannot receive calls on my computer or android phone, I can only listen to voicemail.

I have the same problem. I was on skype for over an hr last nite chatting trying to fix problem with no results.
When I call the online # from my cell it rings but not on puter. My sons tried to call with the same problem.
When I call my son on skype I cannot hear it ring but I hear him when he comes on the line.

I have an online number, but it doesnt work. (engaged noise when rung)
1st - i did all the things listed in the 'help' section regarding this problem-
didnt work
2nd - went on live chat and he told me to do the same thing and some other stuff.
Still didnt work, so he referred my case to main office and said someone would be in touch to fix it. This was last week and i still havent heard anything!

I was receiving the skype emails giving updates on the issue about the Online numbers in Brazil.
Then, I got an email on June 30 saying that we could try to keep the same number, but skype was opening a new line and my subscription would be transfered to that number. And also, I would be getting 2 additional months free for the inconvenience... The email was very confusing and there were no clear instructions on how to proceed. It is copied below:

Well, what happened was that I got a new number and both (the old and the new) have been showing as active in my account. My subscription (recently renewed for 1 year) is linked to my old number, that does not work (always busy).
The new number, opened on the day that I have received the email above, has worked fine ever since, but is going to expire in 10 days and there is no indication that my subscription will be transfered from the old (not working) number to the new number (good one) when it expires...
I will not buy an extension for the new number since I've already gotten it for the old one... I just need my subscription linked to a number that actually works, which ever number it is...
Oh, and I tried changing the privacy settings to allow receiving calls from anyone... Didn't work !
