Online Redolog file/group creation date

How to check Online Redolog group/file creation date.

Personally, I can't think of a more useless piece of information, so perhaps you'd get better information if you told us the real problem you are trying to solve.

You can add a new logfile, then switch logfile, then drop the old one.

Regarding RMAN, plz look into below issue.
I configured RMAN backup recovery window of 15 days. after 15 days the backupsets which were older then 15 days are obsolute. now i have to restore the backup of 15 days older(obsolute backupsets) backupsets to the database. but when i do restore it defaulty takes latest backupsets other then obsolute onces.
how do i restore older(obsolute backupsets) backupsets to the database?
If i used the CHANGE cmd, how to do that.

Obsolete backups are always usable, until you delete them with DELETE OBSOLETE.
If you want to restore from a backup other than the latest, use an until clause:
    run {set until time = 'sysdate - 15';
    restore database;}

  • List files by creation date on command line

Can anyone suggest a method of obtaining a list of files in a directory created on or after a certain date? That is, files created before that date are filtered out and not printed to stdout. Ideally I'd also like to add other restrictions, such as searching for partial matches of a given file name.
    Thanks.

    Hi Mihalis,
Unix commands have access to the classic UNIX dates: modification, change and access. The creation date is purely HFS metadata about which UNIX tools have no clue. Thus, Andy's reference to the Spotlight Query documentation is correct and the most useful answer. I think I found that once before it was in its current form but it looks really useful now. Thanks Andy!

  • "get every file whose creation date ..." error on Mac Intel

    Hello,
since I have installed my MacPro the following statement stopped to work :
    set Aujourdhui to current date
set Avant to (current date) - (300 * days)
    tell application "Finder"
set laListe to get (every file of folder "Controles Asura:Archives_MVSTracks:" whose name contains "01" and creation date < Aujourdhui and creation date > Avant)

I get Finder error "can't make some data into the expected type"
I tried using select instead of get unsuccessfully.
Meanwhile the script runs well when performed on a folder situated on the Mac's hard drive.

    Hello John,
I've tried your script but it doesn't work
So I've started to simplify mine and progressively to add features to finally get back to the original script I posted :
set laListe to get every file of folder "Controles Asura:Archives_MVSTracks:" whose name contains "01"
    works
set laListe to get every file of folder "Controles Asura:Archives_MVSTracks:" (whose name contains "01") and (creation date < Aujourdhui)
    works
set laListe to get every file of folder "Controles Asura:Archives_MVSTracks:" (whose name contains "01") and (creation date < Aujourdhui) and (creation date > Avant)
    works !!
    and finally
set laListe to get (every file of folder "Controles Asura:Archives_MVSTracks:" whose name contains "01" and creation date < Aujourdhui and creation date > Avant)
    It works too !!
Can you try this on your Mac ? Does the result of the script depends on the content of the target folder ? i.e. when there's a few files it works and when there's a lot it fails ?
I can't figure out how this is possible ? Maybe I should call Mulder and Scully

  • Repair files without creation date/time

    Hi
I have some files that haven't a creation date/time. Is there any tools to repair that issue?
For OS 9, there was Norton DiscDoctor, which coud find these files and repair that...

Assuming these are files you created and have some idea of when they were created (you don't want to modify the date/time of system files, or files owned by another application such as the iTunes Music Library), you can use the Terminal command "touch" to give it a date. Touch is documented here:
    http://www.osxfaq.com/man/1/touch.ws
The Terminal is in Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal
When you want to refer to a file in Terminal, simply drag and drop it after entering the command that you want to execute on it, and then hit return once the file's path appears.

  • Creation of New Online Redolog File.

    Hi,
We are working in SAP 7.0 environment.
My Problem is related to Basis.
In our BI Development system we had schedule AllOffline backup through Brtools.
From last few months backup is geeting finished with warning & the warning is,
BR0335W Status of online redo log file /oracle/BID/mirrlogB/log_g12m2.dbf is INVALID
    BR0274W File '/oracle/BID/mirrlogB/log_g12m2.dbf' not found
BR0335W Status of online redo log file /oracle/BID/mirrlogB/log_g14m2.dbf is INVALID
    BR0274W File '/oracle/BID/mirrlogB/log_g14m2.dbf' not found.
When i had  checked at the O.S level i found that at location /oracle/BID/mirrlogB there is no such file is found.
So i checked in other system at same location files are available.
I think somebody had deleted the respective files; because  before the same backup was getting finished successfully.
Now what can i do to remove this warning.
Is it possible to add new file at the same location with same name???????????
    please guide me.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Aasmi.

...  two log files are exist namely '/oracle/BID/origlogB' & '/oracle/BID/origlogB'.
That's impossible. Probably names are like
    '/oracle/BID/origlogB/log_g1m1.dbf' & '/oracle/BID/origlogB/log_g3m1.dbf'
Adding new logfiles or logfile groups will not cause any problems, but take care to keep names different from the names of existing files!
You shouldn't create single logfiles, but logfile groups, with two members, one in origlog, one in mirrlog. The two members aren't copies, but they are used by Oracle in exactly the same way, just in case one of the is lost. That's because they are crucial for keeping data integrity.
Explaining details can't be the objective of a forum thread. I suggest thoroughly studying the manuals.
    regards

  • IPhoto file creation date inconsistencies during drag and drop

I have noticed that if I drag and drop a photo from iPhoto to Finder, the file creation dates in Finder are inconsistent.
(This question is related to drag and drop only and not File->Export, which always uses the export date and timestamp for the file creation date and thus does not suit my needs).
TEST A -- If the EXIF DateTimeOriginated is 01/01/2013, and today's date is 03/03/2013, then:
In some cases when I drag a file to Finder, the EXIF date is used as the file modification/creation date in Finder
In some cases, today's date is used as the file modification/creation date in Finder
In some cases, a date in between the EXIF date and today's date is used
It appears that for case A1, these are files that do not have a modified copy.  That is, if you select the photo in iPhoto and then click "File" -> "Reveal In Finder", the "Modified File" choice will be greyed out.
For cases A2 & A3, iPhoto has inexplicably decided to create modified versions of these files either today or sometime in the past.
TEST B -- I have read that unexplained modifications are tied to the auto-rotate function in cameras, and it does seem to be the case when I performed the test below:
Select a large group of landscape format photos (these would not have been auto-rotated), then drag and drop to Finder.  The file creation dates are set to the EXIF date
Add some portrait photos to the group in (1).  Now the file creation date of ALL photos including the non auto-rotated photos are set to the current date
The behaviour in B2 is clearly wrong, since the landscape photos should be the same as in B1.  This is bug #1.
Furthermore, iPhoto appears to be inconsistent with when these modifications are made.  For example, I dragged & dropped an auto-rotated photo on 02/02/2013, then dragged & dropped it again today, then the file creation date in Finder (and also the date of the modified file in iPhoto, as shown in iPhoto File->Reveal In Finder->Modified File) can either the EXIF date (01/01/2013), the late of the last drag & drop (02/02/2013), or today's date (03/03/2013); there does not appear to be any rhyme or reason to this.  This is bug #2.
In any case, saying "you should never use drag & drop in iPhoto" (as I have read in some other forum posts) isn't a solution, because Apple should either (a) support this function correctly or (b) remove it altogether.  Furthermore, I regularly burn photos to disk for others so having the file date and timestamps correctly set to the EXIF date helps keeping the photos sorted in the directory listings for multiple OS, so File->Export isn't a solution.

File data is file data. Exif is photo data. A file is not a photo.  It's a container for a photo.
When you export you're not exporting a file. You're exporting a Photo. The medium of export is a new file. That file is created at the time of export, so that's its creation date. The Photo within that file is dated by the Exif.
There are apps that will modify the file date to match the Exif.
The variation you're seeing is likely due to the changes in how the iPhoto library works over the past few versions. Drag and drop is handy, but is not a substitute for exporting, nor intended to be.

  • Relocating files based on creation date

    Hello,
I have a folder full of hundreds of Video clips. I am interested in a script that will
    1. look at the files sequentially
    2. For each file read the creation date
    3. If a Folder with that creation date does not exist, create a folder with that creation date (YYYY-MM-DD)
    4. Move the file to the folder with the file's creation date
I've never used automator. Is this easy to do using that program?
The reason I want to do this is to avoid having to manually re-organize the videos by date, if I were to import the contents of the existing folder of video clips into iMovie.
Appreciate any input you can provide.
    Thanks.

Automator is designed to take small, pre-written routines (actions) and string them together into a workflow. There isn't a default action to do something like this, but the Run AppleScript action can be used. Actually, an AppleScript would probably be the way to go, but I just happened to have an Automator action lying around for some reason.
    Tested workflow:
    1) *Ask for FInder Items* {Type: Folders}

  • Problem in creation date while transporting KM content through ICE offline

The problem that I am facing is we transported the KM content successfully, but the problem is for some of the files the creation date is changed to the  current date. Is there any way to get those dates.
Points will be awarded for helpfull answers

    Hi Raghu,
you might want to have a look at SAP Note 883859.
It shows you what are the prerequisites to be able to transport the some special properties like the ones you have mentioned with ICE.
As you can see there, it is not possible to transport them through an offline transport.
If you do an online transport on NW04 SPS15 Patch 4 and higher, and using a target repository that supports this feature, you should have no problem also transporting those properties.
Here the link to the SAP Help information for online ICE transport: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/35/4cf72bfe18455e892fc53345f4f919/frameset.htm
    Hope this helps,

  • Best practice online redologs redundant

Oracle dbs on Unix without ASM
Few DBs have only single oracle filesystem available on unix box & have only one online redolog file available, wondering what would be the best practice to redundant them?
I know if i have multiple oracle filesystems , i can spread them there. but with only one filesystem, i can create one more redolog and put on the same filesystem.

All right here is my researchwork on this topic, make me right if i miss something, its not RAC, just single instance dbs.
    Advantages
Oracle recommends that you mutliplex the online redo log files, store members on separate disk drives, Even if all
copies of the redo log are on the same disk, the redundancy can help protect against I/O errors, file corruption, and
    so on.
    Disadvantages
Multiplex redo log files. the database must increase the amount of I/O that it performs. Depending on your
configuration, this may impact overall database performance.
Each member in a group must be exactly the same size.
    select GROUP#, MEMBER from v$logfile;
    select GROUP#, MEMBERS, STATUS , BYTES from v$log;
    ALTER DATABASE ADD LOGFILE MEMBER '/oracle/dbs/log2b.rdo' TO GROUP 2;
alter system switch logfile; (few times to make sure all ok)
    Backout plan
    alter database drop logfile member '/wmbrktst/oradata/wmbrktst/redo01.log';

  • DB copy- re-using online redo files of target database

    Hello again,
One question regarding DB copy from PRD to TST database (both are existing and running DBs). Can it cause problems when you don't remove online redolog files on TST database (e.g. log_g11m1.dbf...) during the copy ? Can those files be reused when stating 'alter database open resetlogs'? or could be any redolog files (even from totally other database) be reused - with same size, of course.
If you don't delete it , can it cause an error ORA-00305: log 4 of thread 1 inconsistent; belongs to another database ?
I am bit wondering, because I don't see any reuse in control trace file:
    LOGFILE
    GROUP 1 (
    '/oracle/XXX/origlogA/log_g11m1.dbf',
    '/oracle/XXX/mirrlogA/log_g11m2.dbf'
    ) SIZE 250M,
    GROUP 2 (
    '/oracle/XXX/origlogB/log_g12m1.dbf',
    '/oracle/XXX/mirrlogB/log_g12m2.dbf'
    ) SIZE 250M,
    GROUP 3 (
    '/oracle/XXX/origlogA/log_g13m1.dbf',
    '/oracle/XXX/mirrlogA/log_g13m2.dbf'
    ) SIZE 250M,
    GROUP 4 (
    '/oracle/XXX/origlogB/log_g14m1.dbf',
    '/oracle/XXX/mirrlogB/log_g14m2.dbf'
    ) SIZE 250M
Thx a lot for explanations in advance!

    Hello,
I dont want to share them. I just meant, I have TST database running and I want to replace it's content from PRD database. So I delete all datafiles and do restore. BUT I do not delete online redolog files, I keep the files . Can these files be reused once I restore datafiles from PRD to TST?
