  • What's a good online resource for OA framework?

What's a good online resource for learning OA framework?

    Hi,
Best way to start OA framework is Toolbox tutorials..
This tutorial is available with jdev itself and you can find it in jdevdoc folder.
There are 7 exercises available in the tutorials to learn basics of OA framework.
Also try other 5 supplemental lessons for advanced OAF programming.
And refer OAF dev guide for more details.
    Thanks,
    Prasanna

  • Best Online resources for Windows administrators

    Hi,
What are some of the best online resources for Windows administrators[apart from Technet ofcourse]
    Vignesh

    Hi Vignes,
Technet is not a small world, you can find anything and everything, if you have a patience to search for the topics/articles etc. Being a Windows Technician, I recommend you use Technet.
Of-course, there are many 3rd party forums/blog links available, it is up to you and your queries. Use Bing/Google to get the details of other resources.
    Thank you for understanding.

  • Any good online resources for pages templates?

I typically use Google docs for basic word processing. Needed some more robust features from time to time, but I hate having to run Word in VM Ware and not a fan of Word anyway. Really loving Pages so far.  Any good online resources for pages templates?
    Trent
    < Edited By Host >

There are several options for templates you can use in Pages. First, there those submitted by other users & available at iWork Community.
You'll find some links in the Resources section  here.
I haven't tried these Microsoft sites for awhile, so I'm not sure if these steps are still valid, but it does give you a starting place.
Try Microsoft Office templates. to find links to many PC templates. Then comes the Microsoft trickery part. Choose the category then sub-category & then click the name of a template. Next is a page with a "download" button that takes you to the "Your operating system doesn't meet system requirements" page. All that means is that you can't use their automatic download service. Click the "download now" button in the section to manually download. Somewhere along the process was a license agreement. The file I chose downloaded as 06369101.cab. Double-clicking it launched Stuffit & resulted in a folder. I then had to change the .dot file in the folder to have the .doc extension. It then opened in Pages with only one unsupported warning.
The Mactopia site has a lot less templates to choose from, but was less involved to download. Most templates for Word will open nicely in Pages. I haven't come across one that doesn't, but that doesn't mean someone else might. The only thing to watch for is the file extension. Some Word templates have an extension other than .doc. You will still be able to use them, just change the extension to .doc in the Finder or Pages won't recognized them as Word files. Of course, you can't change just any file's extension to .doc & have Pages open it. It must be a Word document.

  • Online resource for SCJP

    Hi All
Is there any online resource from where I get the material for SCJP or
kind of online exam I can go thru for practice
    plz let me know
    Thanks
    Niraj

    Hi,
You may also wish to take a look at : http://www.javacertificate.com/
I found this site very useful when I was studying for the SCJP exam. It has practice questions which are also split into subjects allowing you to study a single area at a time. It also contains mock exams.
    Hope this helps.

  • Online resource for peopletools sample programs

    Hi All,
Although, I haven't finished peoplesoft installation entirely which is gonna take couple of more days But, I was thinking to have started learning peoplesoft peopletools and making basic programs using app designer.
I already gone through the peopletools book provided by Oracle and learnt about many things but I just want to start practicing on developing basic programs using app designer.
Would you please tell me if there any online resource which have sample programs which I can have a look at and design my own using app designer?

Also have a look at the OBE site (Oracle by Example) for recorded demo's and tutorials
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/tutorials/index.html
Also have a look at PeopleSoft Projects Community Development Platform
    http://blogs.oracle.com/peopletools/entry/peoplesoft_projects_community
    Sniped from above blog
PeopleSoft Projects is based on a repository hosted by Collabnet, but which subscribes to Oracle.com authentication. So your OTN user ID and password will get you access. Bookmark the link when you access the PeopleSoft Projects site, so you can easily return to the home page. We have some branding fronting the general UI of samplecode. Have a look around samplecode anyway, there are some interesting non PeopleSoft related projects out there already. samplecode is another hidden gem!
Besides the OBE site and PeopleSoft Projects the internet is full of blogsites with sample code and tutorials on all kinds of subjects.
I would advise you to narrow down the information you want to absorb.

  • Building an online resource for to users to create there own accounts

    Hey,
I am building a wiki for my school. I would love to have a webpage students could use to create their own accounts. I am happy to switch which groups they belong to, but I would like the main account creation to be remote. I am wondering how difficult this is, and what technologies are needed to do it. The ultimate goal would be able to create this database in such a way where we can share the same database information (same user names and contact info) with FileMaker, though set one for us is just online entry into the open directory.
    Thanks

It's not an easy question to answer. So many other variables.
Mac or PC, high speed cable versus lower connection speeds. Network traffic and the speed of your server also play a big part in your visitors experience.
Add to those your desire to play back a file type that requires the viewer to have a very fast computer. I'd guess that less than a third of the computers in use can properly play most HD files (even the small sized ones).
Your Mac is a monster! What you view on it isn't close to what I would see on my Mac mini.
I would suggest you first figure out a display size of your file. Think small.
I (personally) would avoid H.264 unless you know your target audience would only be using "high end" equipment. Hard to pick your audience for a Web based file.
There are html "tricks" that can change the display size of your source movie. If you used a 480X360 (4:3 aspect) source you could "bump up" the display to 800X600 without too much loss in visual quality. Those "tags" are scale="tofit" and the to fit size is your height and width used in the html code (not the source file). Saves bandwidth and gives a better user experience.
Since your file will be "downloaded" (not streamed) you could instruct your visitors to do some other work while your file downloads. Neck stretches, clean their monitor or pour another cup of coffee.
If your goal is HD your visitors must know that these files are huge and that they take a very modern computer with plenty of horsepower.
Your only other option is to reduce the file to more "standard" definition.

  • Best online resource for HD workflow

I'll be working in NTSC but don't know if the production company is shooting at 23.98, 24, 29.97, 30, 59.94, 60. Is there a site that covers all the possibilities from off-line to on-line?

For HD, you can always check out the FAQ at hdforindies.com.
But I don't know of one site that covers every possibility on the face of the planet.
You can click on Underdog for my blog on working with DVCPRO HD...

I'm learning Objective-C as my first programming language and have learned enough from the tutorial now that I'd like to connect with some online communities for discussions and code sharing, and/or beginner-level blogs or resources.
    Any suggestions for a newbie?

    Didn't you just find one
Apple also has another set of Developer Forums that come with a paid iOS or Mac Developer Program membership. They are good but more focused on specific Mac technologies and frameworks. Apple also has an extensive system of advanced Mailing Lists. There is a lot of information on Stackoverflow, but it is a very large. It is more like a reeddit for programmers. There are lots of snippets and information but also lots of noise.

  • Best resources for learning InDesign scripting

    Hello,
I am teaching myself scripting in InDesign and having problems with the help systems.
I read the scripting docs from Adobe, examine free scripts and use the help in the ExtendScript Toolkit but I lack an education in javascript to really do well.
What books or online resources do you think could help me go from tinkerer to amateur scripter ?
    Thanks in advance,
    emmanuel.

In my experience as a learner, there is no substitute for trial and error. Olav Kvern's very helpful comments in his numerous examples (with very helpful explanatory comments) are a great start, because they enable anyone to start experimenting on their own. And I return to his examples practically every day. They answer such simple questions as "How do I open a new document?", as well as giving very clear, well-commented examples of stuff that I would otherwise find completely impossible -- such as "How do I rotate a text frame around the top-left corner?"
I'm no longer a complete beginner, but I am very much a learner still, and I think trail and error is THE way to learn anything, especially scripting. When I started off, it was about 99% error. Now I've got it down to about 75% error. But I nearly always end up with a script that works, after a struggle that is every bit as enjoyable as it is maddening, and it's a huge sense of achievement when I get there. Some gullible folks have even paid me money for this -- I have one in the pipeline for tomorrow!
Rather than reading too much stuff written by experts, I would urge you to experiment as much as possible, just by playing around to see what works and what doesn't work. Don't be discouraged if it doesn't work first time. I'll bet even scripting experts (most of whom are on this list) fail on almost every first attempt. After you get one modest script to work, and then another, you'll build up a sort of "library of past scripting achievements" in your head (and in your scripts panel). Nowadays, every time I start a script, I think of how I successfully managed to do something like it before -- and I build from there.
Good luck with it -- Jeremy
