Online search Tool interfacing with Iphoto

This is a really difficult one that I have been trying to find the answer to. There are a number of things I want to do. Can iPhoto 6 do this or are there any programs that will allow me to do this?
A) I want to be able to upload all my images to a webserver, onto a database so that I can use asp or php to then create a page from the images, i.e. using the keywords, descriptions etc.
B) I also want to be able to create a search engine that will search by keywords taken from iphoto. Then using a page structure as before create the page.
I realise that this probably isn't the right place to look but since I photo and aperture are the programs that I am looking to use. Then its worth a try.
If you can help point me in the right direction then it would be appreciated
Many Thanks

I dont know a lot about google search but would it allow me
to create separate boxes with variables from a drop-down menu? I am
happy to spend a little time learning PHP etc and designing my own
search tools but need a little advise about how to go about
it.

  • Using Image Shack with iPhoto '08

Hi, I just recently purchased a MacBook Pro (will be doing up-to-date; I was fully aware ) and I have a question about iPhoto '08. When I go to upload pictures to Image Shack I used to (iLife 2005) go to finder, then pictures, the iphoto library, then 2007, then to the file, select it, and upload. With '08 it is no more. I only have the option of selecting all 11 GB of iPhoto. Surely there must be a way other than searching the file name to find a photo in the finder!! (I was also wondering if there is a way to use iMovie HD with iLife '08. It is really a huge pain using the new iMovie).
    Thanks a lot!!

See TD's treatis on file access. It describes several methods of accessing files for use outside of iPhoto. There's a 3rd party application,iMedia Browser, that interfaces with iPhoto, Aperture and any folder on the HD for viewing and selecting photos, i.e. Option-drag the photo to copy it to the the desktop.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Solution Manager Interface with Tools Outside SAP

Does anyone have information on Solution Manager's abilities to interface with tools outside of SAP?  I am interested in interfacing Solution Manager with legacy systems and main frame systems (e.g. Informatica).  I am especially concerned with Root Cause Analysis, Exception Analysis, and Error Reporting in Solution Manager regarding non-SAP systems.  Also, if Solution Manager is able to interface with these systems, can it access details from outside SAP (e.g. data from legacy systems)?

    Hi,
The solution manager can be interface with the ARIS.We did in our project this interface.
The Business process flow was defined in ARIS & synchronize with the solman & once configuration is done then we reverse synchronize the same to update the ARIS,so you can interface with legacy also.

  • IPhoto not interfacing with other apps suddenly

    Hi everyone,
I had this issue occur on my Partner's iMac a couple of days ago and am now experiencing the same issue myself on my iMac.
    Description of the issue:
When in iMovie09, if you click on the Photo icon on the right (to drag a photo into your timeline), iPhoto doesn't appear - only Photo Booth.
The reason I'm posting this in the iPhoto forum is because I think I've tracked it down to being an issue with iPhoto itself - if you try to access similar menus in for example, Mail, to insert a photo, you're met with the same - only PhotoBooth, no iPhoto.
    So far I have:
    - ensured software is 100% up to date.
    - made sure there is no "&" in the path to the iPhoto library in the Finder.
    - tried dragging the following plists to the desktop (one by one) from either the Home user Library or main Library:
    com.apple.iApps.plist
    com.apple.iPhoto.plist
    com.apple.iLife09.plist
    - tried recreating the XML file used to populate the photo listing (iPhoto Library > AlbumData.xml).
    - tried from the guest account
All of these resulted in no change and the exact same behaviour as before.
Should I reinstall iPhoto next, or is there something I've missed that I can still try?
    Any help muchly appreciated,
    Cheers,

  • How to create a Windows 8.1 Desktop icon from the Metro/Start and/or Search Tool?

I'm a Desktop user, but often find myself needing to go to the Metro/Start and Search Tool to find programs and App(let)s in order to run them.  However, after doing this several times for many programs, I find myself wanting to create
Desktop icons to run the programs more easily.  Is there a way to do this from the Metro/Start Icon and/or Search Tool results?
If not, Microsoft, please consider adding the ability to do this.
It would be very nice if this ability supported all of the icon types shown in the Metro/Start, Search Tool, and Control Panel interfaces, e.g.: Metro Apps, Desktop Programs, Charms, and Control Panel Applets.
Currently, there is a way to pin the Metro/Start Icon to the Desktop, but the Taskbar will get very cluttered with even only a handful icons.
It would be very nice if the desktop icon created by this also supported the context options that the program/app(let) now shows as Tasks when the icon is pinned to the Desktop Taskbar.
Additionally, it would be nice if I could also simply drag a Pinned Taskbar icon onto the Desktop area, again, retaining it's Tasks as context menu options when the Desktop Taskbar icon is right clicked.
This ability would be very helpful for people needing to get to programs and App(let)s, without having to resort the Metro/Start and Search Tool, because when there are a lot of Metro/Start icons, I have well over a hundred icons, it
can be very hard to find one simply eye-balling lot.  The Search feature is much better, provided I know the name to look for and can remember it.
Finally, this ability would be very helpful, because the kinds of desktop shortcut icons that I can create using the New Shortcut option, assuming that can I find the program/App(let)'s name and path information, do not support the context options
that the icons could in Windows 7 when an icon is created while installing the program.

  • Messenger Express: How do I add the Directory Server to the address book search tool?

In Messenger Express (ME) how do I add the Directory Server (DS) to the address book
    search tool?
    <P>
Edit the globals.pl file. Look for a line similar to: <BR>
    @dirservers = ('MyCompany::phonebook.foo.com::o=FooCorp.,c=US','Four11 Directory::ldap.four11.com::');
    <P>
Add an entry to the list. The list is comma delimited and each entry is a
string. The string contains three fields, delimited by a double colon (::). The
first field is the name you want to appear in the User Interface (UI). The second is
the hostname of the DS and the third is the Distinguished Name (DN) to use when searching.
    <P>
Please note, Messenger Express is part of the Messaging Server. For more
information on Messenger Express, please see the release notes at
    http://home.netscape.com/eng/server/MExpress/relnotes.htm

You can't add a new contact to specific group and there is no app for this. 3rd party apps don't have access to private iPhone APIs with security concerns being a primary reason, which such a function would require.

  • Urgent help needed with iPhoto/pdf preview for book order - mysterious pixelated areas show on PDF but not in iPhoto

Hello. I ordered an iPhoto book last week to give to my parents for their 50th wedding anniversary. Tonight, I just checked on the order status and found that my book is cancelled. I received no notification about it, and all I could do was fill out the online form, so customer service will get back to me on Monday via email (if I'm lucky...). There is no telephone number for me to call about this. I decided I'd best do some searching to try to figure out what had happened.
I had thought that the preview I saw in iPhoto was the preview of the book. I found out I was wrong. So I created a PDF preview of the book and found some craziness that I don't understand. In iPhoto (and any other program, i.e. PhotoShop), my photos are fine. They are mostly TIFF format and high resolution with a few high res JPEGs. However, when I view the PDF, there is a band of black and white pixelation about 1/2-inch across the bottom of some pages - not all. The photos in that area are messed up in that band zone. The other photos are totally unaffected. This affects both TIFF and JPEG photos, and both black and white and color.
Has anyone else had this problem, and what was your solution? I would be extremely grateful to anyone for advice or information about this! The anniversary party is less than a week away and I'm beyond my limit of stress right now...

Launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new library.  Import enough photos for a book (use some of those in the current book) create a new book and preview as a PDF.  If you don't see the problem then it's limited to your library which may be damaged.  If that's the case make a temporary, duplicate copy of the library and try the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
1 - delete  the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your Home/Library/Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - reboot, launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding the the Option key.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
    Fix #2
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library.
Select the options identified in the screenshot and the option to rebuild the small thumbnails.
If you get the same problem in the test library then log into another user account on your Mac, create a test library and try it there.  If the problem shows up there a reinstall of iPhoto is indicated.  To do so you'll have to delete the current application and all files with "iPhoto" in the file name with either a .PKG or .BOM extension that reside in the HD/Library/Receipts folder and from the /var/db/receipts/  folder,
If you don't encounter the problem in the other user account then it's something in your account that's the culprit. Post back with the results.

  • Problem with iPhoto and Photoshop CS3

iPhoto is starting to get on my nerves. I just spent the better part of a day figuring out a scanner interface issue--now something weird is going on with CS3.
Today, when I uploaded images from my iPhone to my laptop and tried to edit them in CS3 using the cropping tool, the image size went from like 10 inches to 1 pixel. If I go into image size and try to restore the size, the image comes up blank.
I ended up having to crop the image in iPhoto and complete the editing in Photoshop. Apparently cropping is the only Photoshop tool that's affected. What's going on? This is taking me twice as long as it should.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. The following may be of interest:
Using Photoshop (or Photoshop Elements) as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop. When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window that indicates that PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file. You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements 6 the Saving File preferences should be configured: "On First Save: Save Over Current File". Also I suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.
If you want to use both iPhoto's editing mode and PS without having to go back and forth to the Preference pane, once you've selected PS as your editor of choice, reset the Preferences back to "Open in main window". That will let you either edit in iPhoto (double click on the thumbnail) or in PS (Control-click on the thumbnail and seledt "Edit in external editor" in the Contextual menu). This way you get the best of both worlds
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Poor interface with Adobe CS4 and setting the file size for emails

In frustrations over an unfixed bug in iPhoto (slide shows) in addition to too many limitations, I am trying out Aperture. So far it has been a big disappointment. I like Photoshop (CS4) with layers etc. as well as Adobe Camera Raw, both of which I intend to continue using. The workflow in Aperture appears disappointing (Photoshop) and totally absent (Adobe Camera Raw). It seems like Apple's attempt to capture some of Adobe's market share has has happened on the consumer's expense? Besides disappointing functionality, I have run into a surprising problem: No matter how I set the email photo export preset in preferences, the attachment shows up as a large file when exported to Entourage. The size does not change no matter how I set this preference.
My 21 years of loyalty and enthusiasm towards Apple has taken some heavy blows lately. With some 15000 photos and 35+ albums in iPhoto, I don't see too many alternatives. Can someone tell me if there is a way around these problems.

First of all I am not comparing Aperture to Photoshop by expecting the layers function. It is the interface between the two I am questioning. We obviously also have different expectations to Aperture. Mine are solely based on my experiences with iPhoto and what Apple tells me on their website:" Aperture 3 is a professional photography application that lets you refine images, showcase your photography, and manage massive photo libraries. Aperture 3 gives you all the easy-to-use tools you need to import, organize, compare, enhance, and share your photos." I do not find a single sentence stating that it is primarily a "Raw image editor processor" as you are defining it. I was not looking for a new raw editor. I was, however, based on Apple's claims above, expecting a combined advanced editing an photo library application. As such I also expected layers. That is not comparing it to Photoshop. Naturally our views are based on expectations and experiences, and ours are just different, that is all.

  • Edit/give EXIF comment with iPhoto 08

    Dear all,
I am currently setting up a hotoblog (basically a simple web album...) using a relatively new photoblog software (still in the alpha-state...) that appears very powerful and simple to me - named "picoplog". The software simply scans a folder on the server, takes every subfolder in it as an album, and gives names to the album and the photos by the folder and file names.
Additionally, You can add a bit of further information by supplying an EXIF comment, which is read and displayed. The website states that this EXIF comment can be written by "any photo management tool" (including iPhoto) - but the developers don't have a Mac (yet... ), and I think that they're wrong: I tried hard the last weekend to make iPhoto write the comments I give to the EXIF header (I mainly store RAW files from my EOS, and export photos the JPEG or PNG) - but with no result.
My questions to You now: is it right that iPhoto does not write to the EXIF comment field? Is there a tool (plugin) that You are aware of that can do so? I tried it with Picturesync (from Holocore) - it supports a lot of Metadata - but obviously only as IPTC/XMP...
At the moment I am using EXIFtool by Phil Harvey, and an Apple Script (Tierprogramm by Florian Poeck) for simplification (no command line...) - but the usability is bad... at least for me, as I'd like to use the comments I have given (and still want to store) in iPhoto, and not comment any photo again with an additional program, because iPhoto ignores the (maybe simple-minded, but quite standardized...) EXIF-comments.
Do You have any suggestions to this? Thanks a lot - and enjoy Your day!
    Björn

    Hi, OldToad!
Thanks for Your information and contribution!
I tried what You wrote again with iPhoto 08, and want to show my results. According to those experiments, there does seem to be a difference between the comment and title iPhoto writes to a JPEG-file and the comment that I called "EXIF-comment" (I got the name and discrimination from the discription of the jhead-tool that has been named earlier in this thread). Well, here is my example:
    1. I exported a JPEG file from iPhoto using the option "include keyword and title" checked; this file can be found on the photoblog system I am using under the following URL: http://marckgraph.de/pix/fr-uuml-hling/img-1101; the title is taken from the filename (I didn't change it...), but below it, there should be written the EXIF-comment, as is said on the homepage of this blog system that can be found at: http://daubau.it/picoplog/ - obviously, there is nothing. Still, if You click on my photoblog on "large size, You get the original JPEG file from the server (the blog makes a smaller JPEG to display, which strips some metadata from the file) - if You save this "original" image to the desktop and get the file-information (apple-i), You can see that the comment is in fact written into the file metadata - but not displayed in the blog.
    2. I took the same file and processed it with the EXIFtool disussed above and added what is called the "EXIF-comment"; the file can be viewed at: http://marckgraph.de/pix/fr-uuml-hling/oberbaumbr-uuml-cke . Don't get confused - I also renamed the file, thus it has the title "Oberbaumbrücke" displayed now; the text written below the title is what I have added as "EXIF-comment" to the file, and what was named "EXIF-comment" on the blog; it gets expectedly displayed by the blog system...
I know it's confusing! Just wanted to show that the EXIF comments according to my experience seems to be sth. different from the JPEG-comments that iPhoto writes (the iPhoto metadata are obviously called IPTC - or sth. like that; this appears to me somewhat more modern, but I don't know...). Maybe I should consider asking the guys who develop this nice photoblog software if they want to consider supporting the IPTC metadata, if this is more modern... though I am not sure about that
Thanks for the information about iPhoto data backup. I use Timemachine here - and have hoped so far that this will keep me safe... I will try to go through Your recommendations again - sounds like sometimes iPhoto doesn't know what it's doing to the "new" library (which is a UNIX-package and not a simple "folder and subfolder" thing, as I have learned here before... - though I was told not to worry about it earlier...) BTW - I have everything in one album so far - is that a bad idea?
Okay - anyway, thanks again! And have a nice day!
    Regards,
    Björn
P.S.: Maybe an addition: I have heard from the guy writing the "Tierprogramm" (which is a graphical user interface for the EXIFtool named before) told me that he uses the EXIF-comment field to store the photographer information (for copyright purposes). Maybe that's what it is originally intended to be (thus: a copyright comment, not a description of image topics)...

  • Firewire Audio interface with 4 inputs?

Hi, as a band we've decided we want to be able to record our drums and bass tracks on one take, then add the other instruments as tracks afterwards.
Our drum has 4 mics (bass drum, snare, hi-hat, ride) and the bass we'd plug directly into the interface.
I imagine getting an interface with 5 inputs is unlikely, so we could sacrifice the ride and put that on afterwards, which would free up one input for the bass guitar.
We were looking at this interface:
    http://www.presonus.com/fp10.html
which I think would work well, but it's 499$ (Canadian) and if we could find a Firewire interface with 4 inputs which are XLR and 1/4", we'd probably go for that instead. Also, two of the microphones are condenser mikes, so they'd need phantom power.
I've done searches online and I seem to only be able to find interfaces that are minimum 8, or max 2 XLRs.

    Its there on the link
Inputs 3 and 4 are stunningly flexible balanced universal inputs. Firstly, they operate exactly as inputs 5 to 8 on the rear and can be adjusted to accept standard studio input levels (+4 dBu, LoGain). Furthermore, the input impedance can be switched from Line (10 kOhm) to Instrument (470 kOhm). An additional analog input amplification of up to 18 dB (in steps of 0.5 dB) is also available. In short: There's no signal that these inputs can't deal with perfectly!
Just get two Balance to XLR plug/Cables.

  • Robohelp HTML X5.0.2 Search tool doesn't consider all chm files in project

    Hello,
My company has been using RoboHelp for the product's online help for several years now.  We are currently having issues with the search tool only considering the master project, rather than considering all merged projects, i.e. multiple chm files.  This has only recently become an issue.  For previous releases of our product it has searched all merged projects.  Has anyone dealt with this issue before?  Does anyone know what to do?
    Thanks,
    Spencer

    Hi,
I fixed the problem by deleting the links to all merged CHM files from the master project's TOC.  Then deleting the CHM file for each of those merged projects from the master project's folder.  Finally, I merged the projects back into the master project from the TOC of the master project (which is the typical procedure for X5.0.2; I'm not sure if this is the same for other versions), which copies the CHM files back into the master project's folder.  Now global searching works again.  I just wanted to share that with everyone, and I hope it works for others who may be dealing with this issue.

Bug Search team (Christine Woods, Deepika Vijayakumar, Sam Guemple)

    Hi Sam,
First off, I wanted to say THANKS to the whole Bug Search team for their
continued hard work in making BST a great online tool!!
I wanted to add a couple of further observations on BST in addition to my
    buddy Paolo's initial comments (+5 "P")
    - Version choices in Communications Manager and Unity Connection are not honored.
For example, if I go through Voice & Unified> IP Telephony> Unified Communications
Platform> Communications manager> Cisco Unified Communications Manager Version 9.1
There will be 44,535 results (????) then I have to input 9.1 again in the "Releases" box and
I then receive the correct 754 results. So BST is not honoring the original choice of
Cisco Unified Communications Manager Version 9.1. This is the same for all versions as well
