Online settings vs Local settings

Hopefully someone can help me clear up this confusion. What is the difference between using the Online Settings Manager and Local Settings Manager? What is the scope of what each version controls?
This is compounded by the fact that changes in the Online Settings Manager within Firefox are reflected in Internet Explorer and vice versa, but settings within Chrome seem independent of every other browser and has no reflection on the options chosen within Firefox/IE. Furthermore, only the Online Settings Manager lets you choose how often you want Flash to check for updates (7 days, 14 days etc). You can't do that in the Local Settings Manager.
Wouldn't a unified, all-encompassing Local Settings Manager be a much better option?

Problems with my online settings manager

I am running Windows 7 64-bit and Internet Explorer 8 32-bit.
I have Adobe Flash Player version 10.1.102.64
So, here is my problem. I downloaded the newest version of flash after a browser program (Pandora) said that my Flash local storage was disabled. This led me to the online settings manager's Global Storage Settings panel. The issue is that, in that tab, the 'Allow third party Flash content to store data on your computer' will not select for me. I click and click, but the box will not check.
I have tried using my Tab button to select it that way, but it will not select. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling flash several times, and that has not worked. I have tried to delete Flash's Cache file, but I do not have a flash or a macromed file. Javascript is enabled. I have tried anything and everything I can think of. Any sort of help would be very greatly appreciated.

WRT54G online settings problem

hi
ive just set up the router and everything was fine but when i upgraded the firmware it kind of scrambled the online settings. i can only see bits and pieces of the info. is there a way to fix this ? thanks

It is advisable to reset the router after upgrading the router's firmware..So reset the router for 35 seconds,power cycle the router and re-configure it from scratch.

Lost all my Optimum online settings after complete reste, pls Help! WRT54GL

Hi I have a WRT 54 GL with a Win XP pro system and optimum online.I installed DDWRT firmware and had issues, I couldn’t open up port 443 so I decided to reinstall Linksys firmware.It seemed to go smoothly but I couldn’t login to the router, it wouldn’t take my password so I did a complete reset.Now I can login to the router with the default password but all my settings are gone. All connections seem to work, the internet light is green on the router, but internet doesn’t work.Any webpage says “address not found”It sounds like I lost some settings that are required for Optimum online, does anyone know how to set this up?Thanks

O2 Online settings?

Ok so my Iphone broke and O2 were so kind as to replace it completely for free! The problem is, for some reason this phone doesn't have the VPN settings in it. There is no EDGE Option but I do have a VPN option. Does anyone know what I have to put in for VPN?. The fields are:
Server
Account
RAS SecurID
Password
If anyone could give me the details for them I'd really appreciate it I'm on O2 Ireland by the way

An iPhone that has not been unlocked officially should not have any EDGE specific settings, they are already preset in the iPhone. For an officially unlocked iPhone you can set the APN and other EDGE settings as described in this article:

VPN is not required to access the internet. It is an option that allows you to setup a Virtual Private Network to your office or employer's servers.

Using Device Central CS5.5 offline or Obtain online libraries for local (offline) use

Device Central CS5.5 cannot navigate my proxy server, and my security unit is never going to provide an exception to allow it.
I need Device Central to at least start-up so I can review some mobile website designs. But all I get upon starting DC is two requests for my proxy credentials then a message stating DC cannot connect to the online library. Clicking OK to the "no connection" message shuts DC down. Why? Why can I not use the software without a constant connection to the Internet?

where do I put them so CS5.5 can find and use them?
How do I get CS5.5 to stop trying to connect to the Internet at start up when I cannot get to the properties to change the setting?

CS5 Help is usually located at /usr/<username>/Library/Preferenecs/chc.487...../Local Store/Help folder.
CS6 help is usually downloaded to the shared location, unless it is restricted. In that case the above folder may be used for downloading help.
Yes, the offline content setting in Adobe Help Manager, will work for both CS5 and CS6 help and help clients.
'Expired Status' usually refers to the state when local content goes stale, and there is new offline content available on Adobe.com servers. Yes, a user may click on Download/Update button to update the expired content from Adobe Help Manager.
Regarding the CS5 product help launch, I will need some more information to provide a reply.
1. Which product and version of CS5 is the customer facing problem with.
2. What is the status of help downloaded for the same product (CS5 or CS6 in Adobe Help Manager)
3. Is the user able to see downloaded help in the above mentioned folders

There are some subtle differences, related to how local phone calls are billed for callers in New York City. It would not affect how the Online Number works for you - you are not charged for incoming calls made to Skype's Online Numbers, when you answer those calls with Skype. For those calling you, it can mean the difference between a free call to your Online Number and having to pay a small fee to call your number. For someone calling from outside the New York City area, it probably doesn't matter which of those zones you use for your Online Number.
I have not found a good concise online reference to those calling zone in the past. I have found some rather cryptic material that shows which prefixes in each of the New York City area codes are in each of those zones. The zones are defined by lists of prefixes within each of those area codes, and those lists can be substantial with the growth in mobile phones over the years.

If I live in England and got to Australia for a holiday, do I set up the number for the UK or for Australia so my friends can get local rates when they call? Then If a friend from Canada phoned me, would they also get local rate calls?

Skype call charges depend only on the country you are calling TO. The geographic origin of the call is irrelevant.

I follow up the guides that I mentioned in there, without success.
My Problem:
By example, I can navigate through a Site on Chrome, I saved a complete page content to my local machine from Chrome ... Then, I open this page on firefox and I can see the content. When I visit the site directly from FF, the page area keep in white background, any content is displayed.
Any suggestions, idea, tip, hint?

Ok, finally FF8 works.
In other posts, people said that I must check for firewalls or antivirus rules/restrictions. Well, I did, I disabled my native firewall without any luck. I have installed Little Snitch, and I disabled too for test FF8 connectivity ... any success reach neither.
Just today I found a post in some forum, that literally said:
"To anyone that's still having problems, it may be because you have Little Snitch 2.4.0 installed. This is a known bug for that version. Try updating to 2.4.2."
I was using 2.4.0 version, and just update to the last one ... but FF8 still no works ... lol ... I just decide to disable it, and FF8 works perfectly. Now I just delete all my Little Snitch rules.
This fix the problem, but I don't be sure that the update fix the problem or just the Little Snitch's rules clean.

With Acrobat X Standard, is it possible to configure the help in order to point to a local file and not get it from the web?
If not, can I add my own sub menu in the help menu?

Global xmp settings

I just upgraded from CS2 to CS4 and of course, there will always be a few "improvements" that will take time to get used to. But one thing that is really bugging me is entering metadata in both Photoshop and Bridge. When I export or import a template I keep getting an extra dialog box with 3 choices about replacing or appending existing metadata. I am REALLY getting tired of clicking this away. Does anybody know of someplace that I can set a global preference for this? I sure can't find it.

I just verified that my online global settings don't actually do anything. Only Control Panel works. Do you have Flash Player in Control Panel?

I am unable to retain my Settings Manager changes for Adobe Flash version 9.0.124.0

How do I stop Flash enabling my web-camera ? I've tried Flash settings.

I want my web-camera to be enabled but only on appropriiate sites (such as Second Life) or in appropriate apps such as Skype but Flash keeps enabling the camera even when I go to YouTube.
I have tried their online settings options to fix the problem but it doesn't stop the camera becoming enabled by say YouTube even though I set the options to "always ask".
How can I fix this ?

Yes, I deleted all the websites and reset everything to "ask" except p2p which I turned off.
Whenever I first go to any page with flash content (from reboot) my webcam becomes powered - note I don't mean that it is actually recording but of course there's no way you can tell that when the light comes on.
This phenomenon only started with the current flash update.
