Online Update Question

I was wondering if it is OK to do an OnLine Update and installing any available patches on my SLES SP3 server with GroupWise 2012?
I was reading this Bash vulnerability and started getting worried,
and then wondered if Updates would address this vulnerability.
Anyone up to date on this issue and is it covered in patches from Online Updates?

New 'Bash' software bug may pose bigger threat than 'Heartbleed' http://a.msn.com/01/en-us/BB5AiOm

For security and political issues, we needed to show we were Proactive on the Bash, and OpenSSL issue. Since the Bash patch was so recent the Online Update did not show patch yet, so this is the method I was asked to do.
I do plan on scheduling a down time for any other patches as soon as they will allow downtime again.

  • Online update in FM, SAP 6.0

    Hi people,
We are using online update of payment in SAP 6.0 as default for new customers. However i can't find the right combination of commitment item to address the following business process.
I need to post travel expenses and travel advances that are payed through FI. These document are actually invoices with employee acting as a vendor.
    travel advance looks like
    31 vendor (CI 60)
    40 advance
    travel expense looks like
    31 vendor (CI 60)
    40 expenses (CI 30)
50 clearing of advance previously posted.
    CI - commitment item type
Problem occurs when we try to clear amounts on advance account and we produce exchange differences. System produces following posting
    40/50 advance
    50/40 exchange differences (CI 30)
and doesn't allow the posting with the errors FI057  -  no invoice key or no VOBELNR.
I tried to put on advance account commitment item of all types (60, 90, 50) and none of them works.
The general question would be then how to handle business processes that include any kind of interim clearing when posting vendor and customer invoices.

    Dear Tomislav
Please check whether this note is implemented in your system:
1012189 FMPU_R: Error message FI 057 for exchange rate differences
Should this is ok, then you should check whether your G/L account for  exchange rate diffs is correctly classified for document splitting, and your splitting method must be correctly linked to the transactions and item categories you are using (clearing operations, exchange rate differences...)
I hope this will be of help
    Kind regards,
    Mar

  • Online Update edirectory 888 patch conflicts

Saw yesterday that Novell released patches for eDirectory 8.8.8 for OES 11.2. On my Groupwise 2012 server, I am getting a conflict error when running Online Updates.
    patch:oes11sp2-edirectory-888-patch2-hot-patch-9407.noarch conflicts with novell-NLDAPbase.x86_64 < 8.8.8.2-0.7.1 provided by novell-NLDAPbse-8.8.8.1-0.5.13.x86_64
It gives me 3 choices for Conflict Resolution. I can deinstall, replace, or not install the patch. I believe I would want to do replace, but I do not want to cripple my server either.
    Please help guide me, Obi-Wan!

Good point. That's the problem I was remembering, but yeah, this one does

I'm asking backline support what should be done here. Hang on ...

  • Online update of catalog content in CCM by Suplier?

    Dear Experts,
How does online update/upload of content by Supplier happens in CCM catalog in SRM? Does it go through the approval by content manager during the upload process?
Is it supported in SRM MDM catalog as well?
    Thanks and regards,
    Ranjan

In the CCM you can set the default status of the catalog items to the To be approved and once you recieve the file from supplier Content manager can upload and the content approver can approve those items.
In MDM you have multiple options to handle the content either by a)excel upload  or b)defining the ports and respective map and placing the file in the port for auto upload with MDIS.

  • I want  to upgrad from OS X10.5.8 to 10.6.8 or higher, but my DVD drive  is not working. Is there the possibility to buy an online Update?

I want  to upgrad from OS X10.5.8 to 10.6.8 or higher, but my DVD drive  is not working. Is there the possibility to buy an online Update?

    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
               terms apply.
If your hardware supports more recent versions then:
Upgrading from Snow Leopard to Lion or Mavericks
To upgrade to Mavericks you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8, Lion, or Mountain Lion installed. Purchase and download Mavericks (Free) from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. The file is quite large, over 5 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
         OS X Mavericks- System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mavericks
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) —
                 Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
    Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table — RoaringApps.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mavericks, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.

  • Can we make things more Useful...? not an update question.

Ok well i said its not an update question.. well it kinda is.
today is friday.. the release date of the new iphone 3g.. great.. i love my iphone.. im goin to wait a week or so before i go ahead and buy the new phone for sake of bugs and lil tweaks..
ok so today i dont know what drove me to update my iphone.. and it got totally bricked for 3 hours.. until i finnally got thru using the "clicking" solution... well i understand the server is overwelmed.. and everyone is updatin and the same time.. but there was a prompt askin if i wanted to update and get the latest iphone software and the latest version of itunes... good.. lets all download it.. most of us it will take 3-6 hours for the iphone to update because the whole problem with the overload on apples side...
    ..BUT...
what if we cant wait that long?
i SYNC'd my iphone before the update.. well everyone does... itunes prompts you to do so.. WHY.. emphasizing on WHY... if we synced the phone to our computer systems.. and a problem like for example is goin forth now with this update... CAN'T we just restore our iphones back to how it was before we even tried updating it?
IT did SAVE to our computers right?
why cant we just double click here, right click right there..
    and BOOM..
back for pre 2.0 days.. well until after the storm has passedt..
why cant we have that option in itunes... heck why not?
hey doctors will always have beepers to get in contact with.. so hey the whole life death situation thing means it isnt that that THAT bad.. but hey everyone needs there cell phone and people use cell phones.. this one in particular for business.. so maybe we could have avoided some confrontation to some conference calls and clients.. etc... well regardless.. as easy for the update to have made the iphone in a way "bricked".. i think it should have been easy to restore to pre 2.0 .
windows has that option in its system restore feature...
download something that messes up your system? virus? update that doesnt work well with the OS?.. restore to an earlier date is an option in the control panel..
i think itunes need something like that with the iphone version..
    last but not least..
    i love my iphone :-D

  • Updated question: Both Mac & PC links possible??

I apologize right away for posting a new topic with my updated question. But I realized I didn't phrase it right to get any help.
The question is - is it possible make both Mac links and PC links available on one disk. They would be in separate chapters. (i.e., directing Mac users to this page and Pc to another) Anyone tried this.
    thanks.

    hi jujubes
I just realised I misled you in my replay to your earlier post due to my poor writing skills
    to clarify:
I suggest using Intellidisc to create the links for playback on a PC
you would also use DVD@Access within DVDSP to create the links for Mac playback
the links will work when played back on both mac and PC from this single disc
the Intellidisc website gives all this in a tutorial at:

  • Software Update Questions

    Hi everybody,
I'm still relatively green in the computer world, so, I'm sure these questions are way to "rookie" for you. Nevertheless; here they are.
    Software Update Questions:
    1. What is J2SE 5.0 Release 4, version 4.0 (39.3 MB) and, is it necessary to install?
    2. What is X11 Update 2006, version 1.1.2 (51.0 MB) and, is it necessary to install?
In case you need to know, I have Mac OS X (10.4.8) with a Verizon FIOS connection.
    Thanks,
    Wayhun
    iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

J2SE 5.0 is the latest version of Java. Mac OS X originally ships with Java 1.4 and this gives you the opportunity to upgrade to the latest version.
It's an optional upgrade since there are many changes between Java 1.4 and java 5, so some people might prefer to hold off until they've verified their Java apps work with the new version. For most people, though, it isn't an issue.
X11 (also known as XWindows) is a standard GUI interface for Unix systems. If you're using X11 you'd probably alredy know about it and therefore wouldn't be asking this question. It's not going to cause any problems if you update it, but it won't offer any advantage unless you're running X11-based applications.

Hi, I have recently done some online updates and now I have to restart my mac each time for the stupid thing to recognise my internet settings. Any help gratefully accepted.

Please be specific about the updates.
Were they Apple updates from Software Update or were they downloaded updates, including 3rd party updates from a website (Including Apple's)?

  • Online update

After live online update launches in my task bar, it begins to "auto search". There is a list of Processes and that includes:
    Download Live BIOS Check List
    Download Live Driver Check List
Download Live VGA BIOS Check List
    Download Live Utility Check List
    Search Mainboard BIOS Version
    Search Mainboard Driver Version
    Search VGA Card Driver Version
    Search MSI Utilities Version
... It always freezes while on the third process at around 75% and if i try to click stop it just locks up and says not responding. I restarted my computer to try it again several times and the same thing happens every time. Anyone know how i can fix this?
btw i have an x58 pro motherboard

Anyone know how i can fix this?
Uninstall MSI Live Update/MSI Live Monitor completely and avoid using the online Version as well.  They are not the best application out there and especially when it comes to BIOS Update they belong to the most dangerous tools you can use.  All drivers and utitilities can be downloaded from the product site of your mainboard.  BIOS-Updates are available there as well.  A note on BIOS Updates:  Please only update your BIOS if it is absolutely necessary.  If you need a BIOS Update, please >>Use the MSI HQ Forum USB flasher<<.

  • JDS Online Update Revisited

    Hi,
I currently have JDS 2003 (linux 2.4.19-4) installed on my laptop and I am trying to perform an online update using the YaST tool/ The download starts, however, after around 1/2mins the download stops with no errors or warnings. I have read through postings on the forum but have found nothing that helps. What can I do to get around problem?
I have seen some postings about jsupdate.jar where abouts can I find this?

    ckna

    Hi b.nitz
I've tried to update just the YaST package, by unticking all the other packages. The YaST package updates and I have logged out and back. I then return to YaST tool and the same thing happens - the update begins and stalls.
    Also, I don't have an /opt/sun directory.

BTW: I even tried accessing the update website using a browser and the same thing happens. The download begins then it just stops.

  • Tomcat6 dead/won't start after online update

Running OES11 fully patched. After a recent online update, tomcat6 will not start. I've attached a catalina log file for review but I'm not a tomcat6 expert by any means. Just hoping someone out there can look at the attached and let me know how to fix it! I've looked at all the server.xml files I can find (three total in different locations: /etc/tomcat6, /usr/share/novell-tomcat6/conf and /var/opt/novell/tomcat6/conf) and don't see anything "off" on line 90 col 9. It sounds like a ! is missing in one of the comment lines..?
Besides OES services, are there any other applications/services installed that might cause a configuration conflict?
