Online video and audio choppy, dysfunctional

Many of the online videos that I try to play are impossible to watch. The sound is jumpy, video is more a series of long photos than running as video, etc. I have an iMac FP 700 mhz running 10.4.11, Safari 4.0.2, have 1.8 GB free on a 40 GB drive and 5 mbps cable internet. I've seen others post similar problems but no one seems to have come up with a solution yet.

the issues are with being able to play back flash content using h.264 as it's encoding. PPC macs just don't handle flash or h.264 very well as it's very CPU intensive. watching hulu on my newer macbooks runs the fans pretty hard.
I'd try to have a bit more free space on that drive & you can try using caminio as the browser but you aren't going to be able to really get around this without getting an Intel Mac.

  • Video and Audio choppy sometimes

    Hi All,
I have been facing this problem for the past few years. It first occurred six months into the purchase of my laptop.
I initially thought it was due to the windows 8.1 upgrade. but based on advice by the HP support folks, i reverted back to windows 8 reinstalled all drivers. However the issue still persists.
Basically the video and sound becomes choppy unpredictably. Then we either wait for sometime, pause the video for a bit and it becomes ok. Sometimes this doesnt work and we have to restart the laptop.
HP support made me install all latest drivers from the support site, whether it was related to graphics or not. But this has not solved the problem. Please help.

OK, follow the steps to POSSIBLY fix the problem:
    1. Swipe in the Charms.
    2. Tap or click Search
    3. Search for "Device Manager"
    4. Once opened, double click "Sound, video and game controllers".
    5. Right click your speakers.
    6. Click Uninstall
    7. When prompted DON'T CLICK "Delete driver software".
    8. If needed, restart the computer.
    9. When the computer is restarted, Windows should reinstall the sound drivers.
    10. IF it doesn't then open Windows Update.
    11. Check for updates.
    12. Find the update for the speakers and install it and restart when done.
    I hope it worked!

  • Airplay video and audio choppy after Yosemite upgrade

i can not play music or audio reliably using AirPlay after Yosemite upgrade, it's quite choppy until I turn off Bluetooth mouse.
Has anone come across this issue or figured out how to fix it.

I've had a similar issue with a not very fluid stream of mirrored or extended display in Yosemite. Even my iPad's mirror image came out shoppy. So I followed some threads advice and turned off bluetooth on the AppleTV and now I can even play games without having to look at the iPad.
Even streaming a movie from my Mac is possible in mirrored / extended mode (if it's nothing too important as there are occasionally frame drops here and there) but very few in comparison with bluetooth on.
Hope this helps. I'm sure Apple will have a fix ready soon enough.

  • Choppy Video and Audio in Chrome after update to Yosemite

Anyone having the same issue as me? In Chrome my video and audio is choppy (play 1/2 second, pause, play again, etc). If I close Chrome (and quit all the way), and restart all is good for a few hours, then right back to the choppy playback (YouTube, Pandora, anything...). Only since updating to Yosemite. Any tips/suggestions?

I have this issue as well.
Only way I know to fix it is to CMD + Q and quit the Chrome process entirely. I'm a web developer so it's super awesome when I have to kill my 20 browser sessions just to fix this issue.
I have confirmed this issue happens in the HTML 5 video player as well as in Flash video.
NOTE: In the video below the audio/video skipping is part of the recording.

  • Internet streamed Video and Audio Lag when I roll over buttons/change tabs

Well just as the title suggests when I am watching videos online, aka youtube, hulu, etc, everything runs fine. But if I decide that I also want to check my facebook or something similar while watching these movies, the video and audio become choppy, even to the point where my audio will become distorted, and the video will just plain freeze. I'm wondering if this is a computer issue and if so how can I fix it?
I'm on a late 2007 13" white macbook, with a 2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo and 2GB of RAM. I'm also using Google Chrome, but it also happens on Safari.

  • ITunes 11.02 update - video and audio no longer working

I updated to iTunes 11.02 last night.
Now, I can't play any video or any audio files, whether using iTunes or Quicktime. Even online Vimeo and YouTube content won't play. Clicking the play button does nothing - the movie or song's progress indicator doesn't move.
In Sytem Preferences > Sound: I get the following message for  input and output devices "No input device found" and "No output device found"
There doesn't seem to be a way to check if the graphics card is recognised but it's still showing up in the system profiler.
Looks like the iTunes update has completely nixed my laptop's video and audio capabilities. Does anyone have any recommendations?

I do a lot of SONY HRD FX1 native 1080i HDV capture with Final Cut Pro 5 on my PowerBook 1.3 GHz G4..
Before Apple started supporting HDV, getting the audio and video lined up was such a nightmare that it wasn't even worth working on projects.
My material works great inside FCP 5, but I have had similar problems to what you describe when making the DVDs
However, I use DVD Studio Pro and was able to move the audio relative to the video slightly to get the most important parts to line up. However if your audio and video clips aren't the same length then you will have variable slippage for long clips.
I have been using MPEG Power Professional (Heuris Inc) to do my MPEG2 video encodes as well as my audio encodes and I haven't had the problem lately.

  • What do I need to transfer video and audio from my 2009 Macbook to my television?

I want to watch a movie with my family tonight, but the DVD is broken. I was planning on renting the movie online and transferring the video and audio from my Macbook to the television. What cables will I need to accomplish this? Also, does anyone know, were I to use a Windows instead, would transferring the audio be simpler? (And what would I need to do that?)

Try doing it without a cable!
    Use AirDrop, described here:

UPDATE - Oh, sorry, I see the article points out the MacBook is too old for AirDrop.

  • Video and audio skipping in PowerDVD 8

    Hi,
I have an issue when I try to play DVD's in PowerDVD 8. Exactly every 5 seconds the video and audio skip, or jump/become choppy and I cannot watch a movie. I have been researching and trying to figure out what is happening but have no idea. Could it be the X-fi I have installed the latest beta drivers to no avail.
Anybody have this problem or have any ideas on how to fix it's I have updated all drivers/firmware for everything and still can't make it go, sigh.
    I have the following specs:
    Intel x38BT mobo
    X-Fi Fatalitly champ.
    4GB DDR3 RAM
    9800 GTX
    ASUS 8x dvd-rom
    E8500 CPU
    Win Vista 32-bit
    Thanks

    Try this utility:
    http://www.thesycon.de/eng/latency_check.shtml
    and post results.
Gigabyte Boards at least with x48 chipset have an audio latency bug that is only fixed via a beta bios update. I have no idea if this also might affect your board...

  • Independant video and audio tracks separate

I am using Premiere Elements 12 on a PC. I am working on a multimedia project combining video, stills and audio. Independant video and audio tracks separate when I insert a still image on another track. The tracks are not grouped or linked together. I do not know how to prevent this happening. The manual suggests pressing the Alt button when inserting but this does not work.

  • Yosemite airplay video and audio stutter

After upgrading to the official Yosemite /not the beta version/ on my iMac 2013 and MBP the airplay streaming of video and audio through any of my two Apple TVs results in intermittent audio and video stuttering which can drive one crazy. Sound and picture are choppy no matter from which computer or to which apple tv streaming is implemented. Any advice how to fix this issue - airplay has become practically unusable to me and family....

You can see here that many people report for this problem.Unfortunately, OS X Yosemite has a minor bug and can stream correct video and audio to Apple TV via AirPlay. You can not do nothing expect to wait for next OS X update. I have same problem and can use my apple TV.
I don't know why Apple doesn't fix this before official OS X Yosemite release, because this problem was report in there beta program from many users.

  • Video and Audio Issues

I am having troubles with playing videos and audio on my macbook pro. When attempting to play videos, the video generally stops playing after 2-3 seconds. The audio starts out choppy and eventually doesn't work at all. This issue persists on all browsers (safari, chrome, firefox), with both flash and HTML5 players. HTML5 players generally seem like they are fast forwarding for 5 seconds then stop. I have tried re-installing flash player and clearing the cache, but that does not fix the issue. I have also logged into a guest account and the issue still persists. Any advice on how to fix this would be welcomed, thank you.

  • Video and audio in Pages

Is it possible to include video and audio in pdf documents when exporting from Pages?

I've never tried it, but AFAIK, the level of PDF created by the system in OS X doesn't support this. You might be able to create a pdf from a pages file in Acrobat that would do this. If you aren't aware, Adobe offers an online PDF creation service, and I believe the first few are free. I don't know how well it would understand a Pages file, though, due to the folder structure. If they still have a free trial, it might worth giving it a shot.

  • Which video and audio codecs to use?

Hi everyone! I've just completed a photo montage for my wedding (200+ people) next week, and need to render/export it today as I'm flying off tomorrow (it's a destination wedding). The montage will probably be projected onto a wall/screen in the banquet hall.
I tried exporting it once with the 'default' settings offered to me by Adobe Media Encoder, and ended up with a 4GB+ file. I then tried exporting with a QuickTime format (H264 video and AAC audio), and while I ended up with a <200MB file, the audio was choppy every 10 seconds or so. Which is when I gave up and decided to come on here and ask you guys!
I'm not yet sure what media we're going to be using to play the montage, i.e. my personal laptop, my wife's Macbook, or the restaurant's own system, so I'd like to create several versions just in case --
    1) .MOV (for Macs)
    2) .AVI/.MPG (for Windows)
    3) and a 3rd version to burn onto a DVD
My project's current settings are: 720x480 (I would like to stay at this resolution for the export), 29.97fps, 48kHz (16 bit). It's a 20-minute montage and I would like to resulting exported file size to be something manageable, perhaps <300MB at the most.
Based on the above, what video and audio codecs do you recommend I use for each export option? Please let me know if there is any other information you need. Thanks in advance!

One display/delivery possibilities would be a BD disc through Adobe Encore. That will be easily transportable, will play from any notebook with DVD/BD software player installed, and will be high quality. One can also play on almost any BD player, hooked up to a TV, or projector (HD capable).
I am also not a fan of any CODEC packs, and ONLY add CODEC's that are necessary. I will also try to go to the source even if it means buying the CODEC. Most "free" versions are hacked, or reverse-engineered, and often do not function nearly so well. The exception to "free" would be CODEC's, like the Lagarith Lossless, or UT, which are free.
With CODEC packs, what often happens is that one's good, commercial CODEC's are over-written by the hacked versions. Adobe does a good job of :"hiding" its CODEC's, but their priority can still be compromised, when the CODEC pack rewrites the Registry. Also, many will install all sorts of "stuff," and much of that is unneeded, and some totally unwanted.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

    Hello All...
Back after a brief absence, things look a little bit different.
I'm trying to take a 16 minute mini dv video and compress it for use on the web. I'm interested in any suggestions you may have on settings for the video and audio tracks. I've tried using Sorenson 3 (15 frames, key frames set to automatic, 320 x 240) for video and IMA 4:1 (mono) for audio. The resulting video looked great but the file size came in at about 255 Mb.
    Thanks!

Thank you for the replies.  Everyone was correct about the jack, interface, and phasing problems.  I have been unplugging my motu audio interface and then using headphones at work.  I have not changed any detailed audio output settings in logic.  When I read that the jack might be a problem I tried switching headphones.  This actually helped.  I am using dre-beats headphones and they seem to be having issues with the mac/jack-(the phasing/panning problems.  I can use these headphones with other devices but not the mac.  I have to use ipod ear buds and the phasing seems fixed.  Hopefully this information is helpful to someone else.
If anyone knows how to correct this issue please let me know its difficult to know what my final mixes are going to sound like and I have had to keep bouncing everything into i-tunes- sync to ipod and then listen in my car radio.
