I am experiencing an offline issue³ with a game that may be related to the symptoms I'm about to describe, and am hoping all the problems are related to a single issue that has a viable solution. I recognize, however, that the problems may not have a common
root.
I cannot stream Netflix video; the playback starts normally, but after a few seconds the output frame goes black and the audio stops as well. This problem persists no matter what rendering method I specify on the site, HTML5 or Silverlight. When I specify
HTML5 and disable the Silverlight plugin, the site asks me to install Silverlight. This happens in all compatible browsers, as does the following issue.
When I try to watch streaming Flash video, the audio and video is badly out of sync, and the video is halting and jerking, behaving as if memory or CPUs are swamped. This is not the case, as system commit is 3.84 GB (not sure what the significance of that
is), CPU usage is 12.5%, and RAM is at 2.75 GB. I point out I have 4 GB RAM augmented by the GPU's 2 GB.
³Grand Theft Auto IV exhibits behavior very much like the latter.
All of these problems did not exist before I reformatted my system in a clean re-install; none of my old settings or files were used. I have yet to update my mega-codec pack (K-Lite) as it was not an issue before. Microsoft FixIt disabled three codecs that
were crashing, but the problems remain. I haven't tried a clean boot yet, and the problems are impossible to troubleshoot in safe mode with networking, as the required adapter drivers don't load (so why does it say "with Networking" when you CAN'T
network?).
Anyone know anything about Acer eDisplay Management? That's the only thing I have running this time around that I did not have the LAST time I didn't have these problems. However, I killed that process in memory, and the problem stubbornly persists.
I have not gone to Ubuntu side RE this matter, as THAT platform is not germane to the matter at hand.
Almost forgot to mention: I have other videogames that are not indicative of significant video rendering issues.

Thank you, M- Sengupta: Your response prompted me to download two NirSoft utilities, ShellMenu View & WhatInStartUp, but THAT particular thing, the context menu delay, is handled. Feel foolish: It was a hardware failure; the right-click response of
my mouse had seriously degraded. It occurred to me to check that because my other mouse's LEFT-click action went near-comatose a few months ago. A new mouse fixed that problem. I am an ardent PC gamer, and my mice get a much harder workout than the average
non-gaming computer-user's does. However, your remark reminded me of a "software artifact" problem I sometimes experience with regards to context menus: Sometimes context menu items remain after their associated applications have been uninstalled (the offending
applications never ask your preferences RE context menu items, creating persistent registry keys that integrate options into the Windows shell). The other utility I noticed while at their site.

  • Online video issue with OS 2.0.0.7111

I have an issue with OS 2.0.0.7111.  I can only view one online video (youtube, vimeo, etc...) successfully upon which if I try to view any other video my broswer crashes and becomes unresponsive.  When I close the browser the icon is permanently greyed out and the only way to get it back is to do a hard reset.  I've tried doing a security wipe, reverting back to OS 1.0 then reinstalling OS 2.0 and I still have the problem.  I thought it was initially a flash problem but I enrolled in the html5 program for youtube and it still occured. I recorded a video of my issue so you can have a better idea of what happens.

  • IdeaTab S6000-F online video issue

Hello, Since some months now, I cannot play video online with my Lenovo IdeaTab S6000-F. I have the last upgrade of the system installed (build 131017).I tried video on youtube app, youtube website, dailymotion online, several other website video online, but none of them work. When on the web, the video is not loading and displays error message. When on youtube app, the app crash while loading the video. Same issue happens with netflix.I already tried clearing the cache and resetting to factory settings with no success... I looked everywhere on the web but could not find anything to help me... Any suggestion? Thanks

    MEI,
As play2fast suggested, the first thing you should do is make sure your client is running the latest firmware available for the S6000.  That seems to eliminate most of the "incompatible device" issues.  If that still doesn't solve it, you might try posting to the developer forum, as they may be more helpful there:

  • Ipod touch online video issue

Hello, well i have an ipod touch 4g, had for about a month and has been working fine. Ive been using youtube app and veoh as well, and both had been working fine. Now there seems too be some problems with them. When trying too play a certain video it loads up so slow and gets worsts each time, but now it doesnt even loads or play. Is there anything to fix this problem i would like to know. Thanks!

Next step is restore to factory defaults via iTunes. As you mentioned, you may have some corruption which is now in the backup. You will lose all date in any apps when you do this o you show get any necessary data out before you do this.

  • Trouble viewing online videos (streaming issue?)

Hello. I'm having trouble watching online videos. Video podcasts downloaded in iTunes are fine, but if for instance I want to watch a TV show online or a video clip from a news website, the picture is choppy and the sound breaks up. It's as if it isn't streaming properly (if that is the correct term). I have an original Macbook (2006), OSX10.4.11, 2 GHz Intel, 1 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM if that helps anyone. My husband has the same computer, purchased at the same time, only his was the model with more memory (not sure how much at the moment). His works fine, though.
Also, not sure if this is related, but my computer has a tendency to spin (or make the noise as if it is spinning) randomly - sometimes for long periods of time.
Please any advice on how to solve this issue would be greatly appreciated.

I am moving this question to another area. I see I posted it under Optical Drive

  • Issue with inserting online video from YouTube

When attempting to insert online video in either Word 2013 or Powerpoint 2013 using the Youtube option, I click on a video then select insert but nothing happens.  This is while logged on as a domain account.  When I log onto the machine as a

  • Video issues in mac os 10.6.4 and windows 7 64x

To start with, my computer is the late 2008 model Imac, has 3g of memory, and wasn't experiencing any video problems until earlier this month. I've already had it serviced, and was told that the issue was resolved, and was unrelated to hardware. Fifteen minutes after repair and setup, the exact same symptoms occur.
I'm thinking, Ok, perhaps this is a bad install of windows, since it happened in a windows program (everquest 2, an online game), and rebooted into Mac. Almost immediately, I saw video problems (snow, pixels, lines, distortion)on the mac side, which had occurred with the windows side.
My husband is angry, I'm angry, so I decide that I'm going to trash everything and start off completely fresh. I intended to reinstall mac 10.6.4 after erasing everything, so I removed the windows partition, and attempted to reinstall snow leapard, without using the original leapard disc that came with the system. I didn't realize until too late that I had forgotten to erase the original os, but I figured I'd see if there were any problems and go from there. I had no initial problems with the install of either os (mac or windows), except to note that I couldn't install the apple software updates on the windows side. I was able to fully update the mac side before attempting any installation of the windows os.
I started having video problems really quickly in the windows side after the full installation and update, but the system disabled the initial nvidia drivers and went to plug and play drivers. The only thing that displayed any further problems was the ISight camera, but that was to be expected without the apple updates.
I did read the bootcamp manual afterwards, and saw that my IMac, being an earlier version, might not properly install bootcamp drivers for windows 7 64x, although we had successfully located and manually installed the drivers earlier when first installing windows 7 64x. Keep in mind, I'd had the os installed for several months without any video problems, and in fact, it worked like a dream in both os after the computer had a previous repair of the hard drive, sound card, and logic board.
Anyway, to continue, after the video symptoms occurred on windows, I switched back over to mac to look for and install a video firmware download that I had located through these same forums. I had to change os because it was a dmg, so I did so. Now, I still had the snow leapard install disc in the computer, so that's the first thing I saw on the screen when booting into mac. I immediately started also seeing the pixels and some distortion, but it stopped briefly. I tried bringing up Firefox to get to the download, but the computer froze (showed the little round ball)and wouldn't respond further. I tried several reboots, and could usually at least get into snow leapard, but the computer froze each time.
Finally, after several attempts, the computer won't boot into either os, and won't go into the install disc either. I'm completely at a loss, because I'm told this IS NOT a hardware issue, and the problem was resolved with simply resetting everything. The problem was NOT resolved with that reset, because I'm able to reproduce this issue consistently with multiple reboots, and have even recorded it with a camera I have. I'm at my wit's end, because I'm on a fixed income, and this costs me time and money I just don't have. It's caused me to get behind on one of my bills, because I have to have a computer, and further repairs, while covered under warranty, are going to cost me further money to get to and from the service center. Not to mention the fact that it's going to take another month for me to wait for my money to become available so that I can pay for the ride back and forth for the repair.
Anyone, anyone at all, have any suggestions that may help? I have access to another computer, and can try using that computer to help me boot the other computer up, if I know how. Please, this is so frustrating to me, so I'm hoping someone can suggest something that may help.
I know I mentioned in the post what type of video issues I'm experiencing, but I figured I'd reiterate to make it easy. The computer will display a distorted image on bootup, like a pixelated off-center image. You know, kinda like 2 punch cards held up to each other, with the same holes, but off center. You also get snow, when able to boot up, with the screen sometimes showing half the screen, flickering. Like the screen is broken, but it's not even scratched. And it's not all the time either, if it was, I would think maybe an internal screen was broken or cracked (I've worked tech support for devices with internal screens, so I understand you can have a perfectly good outer screen, but a cracked inner screen). Right now, on bootup, I get that punch card effect, then the screen goes blank. I should mention that sometimes the system will show that, but then boot into windows with no immediate distortion, but will show distortion in the mac side if I'm able to boot into snow leapard. Hope this information helps someone give me an answer that helps.

To start with, my computer is the late 2008 model Imac, has 3g of memory …
I'm assuming you mean the Early 2008 iMac since there is no "late 2008" one. AFAIK, it came with 2 GB of RAM standard & the common BTO option would have been 4 GB, so can we assume that you have installed an aftermarket memory module to get to 3 GB?
I've already had it serviced, and was told that the issue was resolved, and was unrelated to hardware. Fifteen minutes after repair and setup, the exact same symptoms occur.
What repair and setup? Is this something you did after getting the iMac back from service? If so, what exactly did you do?
I had no initial problems with the install of either os (mac or windows), except to note that I couldn't install the apple software updates on the windows side.
Do you mean the Windows drivers or something else? Did you follow the Bootcamp install procedure exactly when reinstalling Windows or not?
I switched back over to mac to look for and install a video firmware download that I had located through these same forums.
What video firmware download do you mean? AKAIK, there are none for early 2008 iMacs.
No offense intended, but it is hard to understand exactly what you have done because while you mention much, you don't say a lot about the specifics for a lot of that. In general, it is best to concentrate on those things & keep the commentary to a minimum.

  • Looking to get a data plan for the sole purpose of playing online video games

    Hi everyone,
I live in the mountains of Pine Valley, CA and the seclusion is becoming intolerable.  I'm looking to get a data plan with Verizon to play online video games, namely Diablo 3 or failing that due to latency, then Civilization 5.  Can anyone give me pointers on if this would work and what plan I could get?  Currently, I have a plan with Boost Mobile which uses Sprint cell phone towers.  I tested my internet connection with speedtest.net and received a ping as low as 140 and as high as 1000, but I'm hoping the 1000 is just due to reception issues that can be fixed with a better antenna.    The 140 ping is a little high too but I'm hoping this will be better on the Verizon network since I think their cellphone towers are closer.  The closest landmark to me is the Golden Acorn Casino at 1800 Golden Acorn Way  Campo, CA 91906.  If anyone could tell me the distance from Verizon's cell tower to the casino and Sprint's and could estimate a ping value based on that, I would really appreciate it.
I like Verizon's data plan for 10gb but I'm confused on device connectivity.  Is this the data plan plus whatever router device I hook it up to? I would also need some sort of antenna and a router, wireless or wired.  Can anyone give me pointers on how to find these?  An estimation on Ping and bandwith speed and also on peak hours in my area would be nice too.  Thanks to anyone that can help me with this!  Oh, and while I don't think my area has coverage for 4g, though I'm pretty sure there is 3g, would I possibly get 4g if I had a strong enough antenna?

Homefusion comes with antenna that is mounted OUTSIDE of your dwelling. That why they send someone out to install it. It also comes with the router. You're thinking of Share Everything data only plans. Where you pay $20 for the mi-fi and then pay extra on the data pending how much you want.  Share Everything with a mi-fi and 10 GB would be $80 a month when you can get Homefusion for $60 for the same 10 GB. An considering the antenna is more power and outside you're a lot more likely to get reception with Homefusion. In either case it should be noted you'll need to pass a credit check and sign a two year contract.

  • Online videos are not working

I am not able to watch online video through WIFI on my blackberry curve 8900 phone.  Web pages and Images are working fine.
    -Sandeep

    Thanks very much.
Actually I am trying to play videos from m.youtube.com .
    1) Google blog says you need a mobile phone that plays streaming videos (RTSP/3GP with H263/AMR). As per blackberry curve 8900 docs these all formats are supported but still I cant play videos. Even I tried other sites , none of online videos are working.
Any idea what can be the issue ?
    2) Do I need 3G phone that?  AT&T customer supports says you need 3G phone .I am not able to get them as I am using WIFI for browsing.

  • Online video playback is severally laggy/choppy on my macbook pro 2011?

hey guys, got a bit of an issue here. I've been noticing some SEVERE lagging issues whilst viewing online (streaming) video, from various sites, including, novamov, youtube, and others. the videos rarely stop to buffer as i have a fast connection, but yet they still seem to lag wildly. what i mean by this, is the sound will continue as normal, the the picture will freeze sometimes for a good 5 seconds or so before resuming, this is happening increasingly more and more..
i am running Mac OSX Lion (latest Update) on my:
    MacBook Pro
    17-inch, Early 2011
Processor 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7
    Memory 8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Graphics Intel HD Graphics 3000 512 MB
    Software Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3 (11D50b)
If it helps my hard drive space is:
    Macintosh HD
    Capacity: 664 GB
    Available: 179.79 GB
The browser i am using is the latest version of Safari, although i have tried firefox and chrome and i experience the same issue.
I have Sophos anti-virus installed and run regular scans on my system (all clear)
i really can't think of anything else which could be causing an issue here. I haven't installed any additional software for a while, not in the time frame since the error started to occur.
I am quite surprised to be experiencing such issues as lagging on something as simple as a youtube video when my £3000+ computer handles heavy applications such as Final cut pro and Photoshop with ease...
i MUST be missing something here,
I really would appreciate any help i can get here.
thankyou very much for your time
    ben

    Hey Carolyn,
Worked a treat, de-jaggy video for first time in months!!! Only point of clarification, I manually deleted the Flash plug-in before I uninstalled Flash. Don't know if this was why it worked for me rather than others but hey ...
    Thanks again!

    Hi Ben...
I am quite surprised to be experiencing such issues as lagging on something as simple as a youtube video
Try troubleshooting the Flash plugin required for most YouTube video.
Quit all open browsers. I'm using Safari as a test.
Open System Preferences > Flash Player then select the Storage tab. Click: Delete All
Now uninstall the Flash plugin then reinstall new >  Troubleshoot Flash Player | Mac OS
Make sure and uninstall the current plugin first.
Then launch Safari. From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Empty Cache
    Now try a video.
BTW... if you have the ClickToFlash extension installed, that can prevent Flash based video from streaming. It can also be installed as a plugin in /Library/Internet-Plug-Ins.
And check to see if Safari is running in 32 bit mode. Right or control click the Safari icon in your Applications folder then click Get Info. If the box next to:  Open in 32 bit mode  is selected, deselect, quit then relaunch Safari.

  • Cannot play any online video with macbook pro retina Safari. (Youtube, youku, tudou, etc..)

    Help!!!
I'm using Macbook Pro Retina, my version is ME866LLA
    My Safari version is: 7.0.6
I installed the latest version's adobe flash. I'v tried reset settings for safari, and I also checked Security Settings ->Internet Plugins. I do believe all are correct.
But still I can't play any video from any online video websites(Like youtube, youku, tudou etc).
Like below screenshot, always loading, but never start playing. I even fixed the permissions for my disk, still didn't work.
Anybody can tell me what happened?? At the very beginning(when I first got this computer), I think this works, but don't know what happened. I have this issue for long time!!
Anybody can help me? Great thanks!!

    Hi ..
You may be using HTML 5.
Then click:  Use the Default Player
If that doesn't help, from your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Security tab.
Make sure:   Allow Plug-ins  is selected.
If that doesn't help, troubleshoot Safari extensions.
Back to the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab.
Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.

  • Watching Online Video Content Causes Massive Heat Rise!

    Hi All,
I have a MBP Intel C2D 2.2 running Tiger 10.4.11. I tend to use Safari as my web browser but have recently noticed that whenever I watch any form on online video's (youtube etc), the temperature of my MBP goes through the roof easily reaching and exceeding 80ºC at which point I get scared silly and quit watching anything. I had a look at Activity Monitor and the Safari %CPU figure is also approaching 80% with 16 Threads, Real Memory running at 735 MB and Virtual Memory running at about 1.3 GB.
I have no idea what this means but the scrolling CPU graph at the bottom is nearly full and the CPU idle figure goes from around mid 90% to between 21% and 40%. This is just one example but put here to give you experts who know what it all means an idea.
Please can someone tell me what is going on and how I can correct it? I am not that techie with computers but am happy to follow step by step directions - I am really afraid my MBP is going to melt or burn up something inside.
    Thank You!

Thanks for the suggestion. Already using smc fan control here; cannot speak for others.
It seems the specific problem is: viewing WAV (and AVI) files using Safari 3.2.1 (and possibly earlier versions) ALWAYS causes Safari to grab the cpu and really run it flat out (on my computer Activity Monitor shows Safari at 98 in the CPU column which is way higher than any other app ever uses). This never happens with viewing QT files nor Real Player files.
So it seems viewing WAV files using Safari does something to disturb normal functioning. Quitting Safari always cools down a hot MBP. Letting the MBP to continue running, once a WAV file has been viewed, causes it to remain running a the rapid rate and the MBP continues to remain very hot. Conclusion: WAV files modify Safari in a deleterious way. This is true even if move to another app without quitting Safari.
In fact nothing else (Skype, MS Word and Excel, Adobe programs, Filemaker, iPhoto) ever causes any heating problem and the MBP routinely runs at around 106-9 F when in use.
Sure, I could run the MBP at 165 degrees F, but it seems there is a possible software issue that needs correcting.

  • MacBook Pro not loading any online videos.

My laptop used to play online videos just fine, but starting two days ago, videos on youtube or other streaming websites only turned up black and didn't load any further, even after refreshing the page. I restarted my computer and it worked fine until today. I'd really rather not have to restart my computer each time this happens.
Is anyone else having this issue and do you know how to resolve it?

Which version of OS X are you running? The best thing that you can do is use the power button to turn the Mac off and then boot using either the installation disk that came with your MacBook Pro or, if you're running Lion or Mountain Lion, boot into your Recovery partition by holding down the Command and R keys whilst booting.
Booting from your disc or via the Recovery partition will allow you to use Disk Utility so that you can verify and, if needed, repair your hard drive.
Try that and call back with the results.
