Only 2gigs of Ram showing with 4gigs installed

Hello! My apologies if this is in the incorrect forum. First let me say I've had this problem before and it was resolved by switching the memory cards in their seats.
I have installed two, 2GB memory cards (4 gigs total) but only 2GB are showing up. I've tried once again, switching their seats and also purchased brand new 2GB cards with the same results. My system information is as follows:
Model: CQ5600Y
Processor: AMN Athlon II 170u Processor 2.00 GHZ
Installed memory RAM: 2.00 Gb - not correct
System Type: 64 bit OS
Windows 7 Home Premium
Any assistance in how to resolve this problem will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Here is something that you can try:
This problem may occur because the Maximum memory option is selected incorrectly. To fix this, follow these steps:
Click Start, type msconfig in the Search programs and files box, and then click msconfig in the Programs list.
In the System Configuration window, click Advanced options on the Boot tab.
Click to clear the Maximum memory check box, and then click OK.
Restart the computer.

I have an E430 with Core i5 Ivy Bridge, 4GB RAM, onboard graphics. OS is Ubuntu 14.04 64-bit. No components have been installed or replaced since purchase.
The problem is, system only shows I have 2.5GB RAM total. In BIOS it correctly shows 4096GB RAM installed.
People suggested it might be the graphics allocating the rest of the RAM (which makes sense in a way, since I read at some other places that max. RAM for the graphics is set around ~1.5GB). And they suggested I should look in the BIOS for a setting which would influence this. I found none.
I got some info about the graphics using a command, and it shows:
Memory at f0000000 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=4M]
Memory at e0000000 (64-bit, prefetchable) [size=256M]
That does not look like allocating 1.5GB RAM to me.
Also there is this:
Kernel driver in use: i915
Is that the right driver?
Does anyone know whether it is really the GPU allocating way too much RAM? How could I stop it or make the currently-unused RAM available to the system again? Or is there another problem, not linked to GPU?

BUT.....2gb is the bare minimum for running Lion, you need at least 4gb in reality. Your computer will run better with 4gb.

Only 12 GB RAM showing in BIOS of 890GXM-G65 when 16 GB RAM is installed

Just added 2 x 4 GM RAM of the identical type as the original 2 x 4 GB to my son's PC, motherboard 890GXM-G65.
Even after a BIOS flash to the latest version, the BIOS still only recognizes 12 GB RAM but Windows 8 confirms 16 GB is installed, with only 12 GB available.
Anyone have any suggestions on this one, to unlock/enable the additional RAM? Tried many things to no avail.

can be dead ram or dead slot or may be corrosion or dirty slot connector, try to find contact cleaner in electronic store to clean the slot ( without power of course )

Macbook Pro only starts up from power with battery installed???

I am a tecchie and am working on a customers Macbook Pro.The laptop starts off the power adapter when the battery is installed.As soon as i remove the battery and try to start up with power adapter- it wont start at all.I have already replaced the logic board as well as the power board with still the same issue.Any ideas?It is a 2.2ghz Macbook pro.Any ideas?

Sorry,i know the answer and am a trainee techie.In my service department,i have been given a 65 watt power adapter for testing.However,these newer Macbook units require an 85Watt power adapter to start up without battery as they need more power to crank up.Cheers.

Ff is using over 2gig of ram on startup how do i fix this

OS is widows 7 64 bit with only 2gigs of ram
Firefox has work flawlessly for months but all of a sudden it overloads my ram when I start it, after a minute the ram gets flushed and everything works fine again. Last night I reset Firefox and everything was back to normal, but today its doing the ram hog thing again so resetting it is only a temporary fix.
FYI I don't have any add ons or plugins installed and the only software I've installed in the past month is VLC
Could this be a malware problem or something to do with VLC?

Some images are showing with some red color ¿how do I return to original colors?

I`m using Mountain Lion and everything works right. Only some images are showing with a redish color. The first example is my cover photo in fb. When I click it, it returns to the original color. Anyone who has this problem and know how to fix it?

Control Panel shows only 4GB of RAM but product specs say I should have 8GB

My HP Pavilion Elite HPE-250f desktop is supposed to have 8GB of RAM factory installed, but the control panel only shows 4GB. When I run diagnostics with the Support Assistant software it says everything is working fine but also shows only 4GB of RAM. I've had the computer for several months now and the warranty recently expired. In the past I noticed it said 4GB and thought I must have purchased a computer with only 4GB, but it always seemed odd to me. I looked up the specs online and it says the HPE-250f has 8GB, and it also says 8GB on the box it came in. I have not made any modifications to the computer, and have never opened the cabinet. I am hesitant to open the cabinet, but don't feel I should have to pay a lot of money to figure this out.

Shut down the PC. Tap away at f10 as soon as you start the PC to enter the Bios Menu - on the first page, you should be able to see the ammount of physical ram installed.

T400 Vista only 2.5G of RAM showing

I have had 3G and 4G of RAM installed in this T400. Control Panel->System shows the correct amount of physical RAM in either case. Either way, Task Manager only shows 2.5G total. I understand that the 4G address space gets consumed to some extent by device mappings (or potential device mappings) including the discrete graphics. And that the chipset graphics grab some actual RAM.
However, even with both of those a max of 2.5G is ridiculous. Especially with 4G installed.
(My T61 makes all 3G available, and my deskside with 4G installed still makes 3.5 avaiable)
Any ideas on how to improve this? Any hope of BIOS mods, different chipset drivers, ???
I bought this thing because it had switchable graphics and an XP downgrade - unfortunately the sales person didn't tell me that they weren't compatible - and because it could take 4G of RAM, since I need to run some virtual machines that need RAM.

Is it bad manners to answer a few of my own questions? I've been swapping memory sticks in and out and toggling BIOS between discrete and integrated graphics with switchable graphics and detection disabled. Some interesting numbers regarding available RAM and (very rough) power consumption/battery life:
Baseline: Switchable graphics enabled, either 3G or 4G of RAM installed: total in Task Manager/performance -> 2517MB.
Switchable graphics disabled, 3G RAM: integrated graphics -> still 2517MB, discrete graphics -> 2553MB. oh boy!
Switchable graphics disabled, 4G RAM: integrated graphics -> 3029MB, discrete graphics -> 3065MB. better!
Power consumption/battery life w/9cell, just desktop and a vim window open, 95% charge: integrated graphics ->6:30, discrete graphics -> varied from 4:30 to 5:30. Looks like ATI has some kind of adaptive power thing going on.
Switching to integrated graphics only in BIOS required a boot to let the driver (re)install, then a reboot to get back to a useful system with correct resolution. -- On further experimentation, it looks like the double boot to switch to intel integrated graphics only happens when done along with a RAM size change. Need to test that further.
So, it is possible to stretch the available RAM by shutting off one of the graphics units and stuffing in 4G of RAM. It's a little expensive and feels wasteful, but the bump for switchable was only $75US. I imagine I'll run this thing w/4G RAM and only the Intel integrated graphics turned on unless I have some presentation thing going on that requires the fancy graphics controller (not likely for this elderly hardware nerd).
Maybe the above will be useful to someone. Please correct any typos, thinkos, or factual errors. I'll get around to posting this @ www.beezmo.com one of these days along with some other thinkpad notes.
Now I've go to go screw down the palm rest...

5300 RAM showing up as 3200 in Quad, any experience with this problem?

Hello, just received a 2 gig kit for my G5 Quad (2 - 1 gig sticks from Crucial). System Profiler shows it's speed at 3200, lower than the original 512 RAM which is 4200. Crucial says it will only reach 4200, but why is the new RAM showing up at 3200? Tried removing original RAM and only using the new, same speed displayed - 3200.
Has anyone had any experience with this oddity? Any idea if the RAM is not performing or the Mac is not giving accurate speed data?

There is nothing wrong with your computer's memory. This issue is addressed in Apple Hardware Test 1.2.7. If you have version 1.2.6 and are experiencing this issue, contact AppleCare for a replacement disc.
Apple is aware of that. It first showed up in 10.3.0 and has been there ever since. The issue with the above DDR2 is I think different and unique.
With the MDD, Apple used Micron in the system I got, and I added Crucial. Both show up as '2600.'

That's consistent with trouble with the Segoe UI fonts on your system.

CS6 - Will I notice a difference in speed/performance with only 512MB video RAM?

With regard to PS CS6: I'm specifically interested in CS6's ability to utilize video memory to make PS faster, more powerful; but will I notice a difference in speed/performance with only 512MB video RAM?
Currently running PS CS5 on an iMac (Duo-Core, 8GB RAM, 512MB Video RAM).
Was hoping Apple was going to release new Mac Pro (been saving dough for a few years now). Since that didn't happen, sticking with current Mac setup for at least another year, and this includes a video card that only has 512MB memory.
Is it worth it for me to upgrade to CS6 with regard to speed/performace?

My T61 only have 3GB usable ram, but I have installed Windows 8 pro 64-bit and two of 2GB rams

It was working fine with 4GB ram when it was installed Windows 7 64-bit. Is there any drivers I should download?

P67A-C45 hangs with Core i5-2300 and Win7 sees only 8 Gb RAM (of 16 total)

Hi guys, I have a problem.
My config is:
OS: Windows 7 Pro х64
MoBo: Socket1155 MSI "P67A-C45"
CPU: Intel "Core i5-2300"
Ram 4 dimms * 4Gb DDR3 SDRAM Kingston "ValueRAM" KVR1333D3N9/4G (PC10600, 1333МГц, CL9)
Video: PCI-E 1024МБ Sapphire "Radeon HD 5670" 11168-05 (Radeon HD 5670, DDR5, DVI, HDMI, DP)
Problem #1:
Windows shows only 8 Gb RAM in system properties. CPU-Z shows all 16 GB.
Problem #2:
Computer hangs several times per day (no blue screen, everithing just becomes frozen).
After flashing BIOS to 1,7 both problem disappeared for 2 days, but after todays hang both problems have returned.
No overclocking, Turbo boost disabled, EIST disabled, RAM voltage 1,5V.
Any ideas? Maybe new BIOS version?..

I have Carsair 650W PSU, it works fine (worked in my previous computer).
Also 3 SATA HDD installed (Segate 1 Tb and 2*Seagate 1,5 Tb).
I've raisen DIMM voltage to 1,65 V and system doesn't freeze anymore.
But windows still sees 8 GB memory (of 16 installed).
I think this is BIOS bug....

Please give us some more details on what exactly has gone wrong with your iMac.
What size RAM module/s are you trying to install and where did you purchase the RAM module/s from?
RAM has to be installed in matched size pairs.
Make sure the RAM module clicks into place. You need to apply a little bit of force to get the module to slide in and clIck into its module slot location.
Correct, compatible and reliable Mac RAM can ONLY be purchased from online RAM sources Crucial memory or OWC (macsales.com).
If you purchased RAM from ANY other source and still can't get the RAM to work, return it for a full refund and buy RAM from the sources I have listed.

YOU ARE WRONG.
Go to Settings > Notifications > Messages. You can turn Notifcation Center off for Messages, or select None for the alert style, and turn Show Preview off, and view in Lock Screen on or off.
