Only 35% of Screen Visible

My iPod nano 1st Gen has the bottom half and about 1/4 of the side of the screen gone, while the other part still visible. The iPod still plays, but it seems the screen has died out or faded. There are also a few horizontal streaks of grey/black.
I have already tried resetting the iPod 5 times and I also powered it off for the night, but in the morning, it was still the same. I also fully charged it. Nothing.
Does my ipod need to be replaced? Should I reformat? (sounds like that won't help though..)

The screen is probably dead, it sounds like a bunch of dead pixels. Call AppleCare or take it in (if you still have the warranty) and ask for a replacement screen or iPod, whichever they'll give you. Good luck!

Guys, i have a problem with my phone. There are visible darker spots on the top of the screen visible on a white or orange background, that are not visible on a friends iphone 5s. The problem is more evident when tilting the phone, also you can see it during the phone start up. This is a 3 days old phone bought from apple store. Also, the power button rattles. I am going to Reading next weekend and there is an apple store there so i thought I could swap it for a new one. What happens if they are out of stock? The phone was not in stock for weeks! If you are using Safari for Mac, it could be a Safari extension causing this.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari / Preferences then select the Extensions tab.
If you have any installed, turn that off, quit then relaunch Safari, try a video.
It would really help when you post to tell us which operating system you are using, Mac or Windows.
You could also try troubleshooting the Flash plugin which is required for most of the content on YouTube.

Iphoto doesn't show pictures - only a white screen is opening

hello!
i've got an new imac. on 21. april i moved my iphoto library from an old power pc with iphoto 8.1.2 to my new imac. the iphoto library works without problems.
last week i put on my iphone and itunes and iphones opened automatically. Now i've seen, that iphoto shows no pictures. I took the iphone from the usb cable and started iphoto again. It shows no photos again, only a white screen.
I read all discussion-themes and tried to delete the existing iphoto library and create a new one, I delete the preferences plists, I repair all options that will be appear, if i push alt+cmd,I replaced the iphoto library and the programm iphoto with my timemachine backup. but nothing happened.
today i moved the iphoto librarys to an extern hard disc. I removed all things from iphoto and installed iphoto from the system cd.
again an white screen is opening. if i click to add a new album, the left bar is visible. I click to import photos. the programm runs and can not complete the import. i have to quit the programm with taskmanager.
i hope someone can help me!

I accidently unmarked the book marks tool bar, the tool bar and the menu bar how do i get them back ?becaus now only the tabs are visible and i cant access my features or book marks

i was getting to know my firefox so i accidentally unmarked the menu bar the book marks tool bar and the tool bar. so now only my tabs are visible and i cant get to any of my add-ons or extensions.
and even surfing the net has become difficult cause there is almost nothing i can do with a new empty tab.
how can i get these bars back. i tried taking the cursor up to the thin line above the tabs and the window border but the menu to mark the above mentioned features does not appear any more.
i tried restarting firefox several times but it didn't work. i even uninstalled and completely downloaded a new version of firefox and installed it but the problem still persists.

Firefox 3.6+ versions have a feature to allow the user to hide the Menu bar.

My mac pro crashed. Apple genius people said to reinstall snow leopard. I did and it failed to start after i installed. I started with the power button, tried to install upgrades, and now I get only a grey screen with spining wheel.

How can I restart a mac pro that shows only a grey screen with a spinning wheel. I reinstalled snow leopard (10.6.3) over 10.6.8 because apple genious people said I had problems with my library files after a time capsule crash. I reinstalled but when done I got only a blue screen. I restarted with the power button and tried to insall 10.6 combined upgrades. I got an error message that it could not install because of an error. When I powered down and tried to restart, I get only a grey screen. My optical drive does not open so I can't restart from another source.

Restart, holding down the mouse button. That should eject the disc. Zap the PRAM and Reset the SMC. Then, pop in the install disc, restart with it in again, select your language, and, when the menu bar pops up, select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. select the boot volume and repair the disk.

I have Firefox 19 and the screens are narrow. How can I get full width screens, like I get in IE? Full Screen command only makes my screens taller, not wider.

I just got a new Dell Optiplex computer with Windows 7. I installed Firefox 19 on it. The web pages come up narrow, with borders on each side. So the content of the screen is smaller than what I've gotten in the past with Firefox 3.6 on my previous computer. I did the Full Screen command, and that only made the screen taller rather than giving me a full screen (such as I get with the same web pages in Internet Explorer). I've also tried enlarging the text, but that throws off the format of the web page so some parts of it overlap.
What can I do to get a full screen, including full width?
There is a box below this Details box called "Troubleshooting Information" which says I should click Allow and then click Install. Since I don't know what would be installed on my computer, I did not do it.

The Troubleshooting Information extension adds some useful information to your post, but in this case, I don't think it's really needed.
Zoom is your best bet. To make it work for you, I have two suggestions.
(1) Switch from "text only" zoom to "full page" zoom. This is proportional like in IE.
View menu > Zoom > ''uncheck'' Zoom Text Only
If you are using the compact menus with the orange Firefox button, tap the Alt key to display the full classic menu bar.
(2) Install an extension that can default your view to a higher zoom level automatically to save time when visiting new sites. Here are two candidates:

When I create an album and then try to watch it in slideshow, I get only a black screen with a white title. No photos come up. Also when I click on an individual photo in the album, I get a white exclamation point on a black background but no big photo.

The ! turns up when iPhoto loses the connection between the thumbnail in the iPhoto Window and the file it represents.
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

Now, My problem with it is that, it now has green discolorations at the center whenever the screen display is black or dark I.e. Stutters only in Full Screen...

Hi,
I have a strange problem with qt. Watching h.264 material that is streamed with DSS and encoded with the x264 library in mp4live (have compiled it with tweaked encoding parameters). The bandwidth is fine, the material is between 100 and 400 kbits/sec, but it stutters strangely only in full screen mode. even if i zoom the window to almost the same size as full screen its all smooth and fine but when i enter the fs mode it starts to twitch and stutter every so often. looks a bit like dropping frames (not in h264 way but more litterally) but sometimes it displays sort of jumps in the image.
the strange thing thing is that on the mbp 2.16 dual core it seems ok, but on the imac 2.0 dual core 20 inch it displays these problems. upgraded to qt 2.1.6 but shows still the same problem.
cpu usage stays mostly at 30 % (goes between 20 and 50) and memory use is not that significant either. always a 100 MB plus free. am using some encoding options that are heavy on the player (although it seems to deal with it fine) but the inconsistency confuses me...
any ideas?

Hi,
I would try a Safe Boot first. (This will take longer than a normal Boot and you will need to Restart afterwards).
If it were an older OS I would also suggest going to System Preferences > Displays and making sure the display is set to Millions. (My MacBook Pro does not have this option in Snow Leopard so I did presume Snow Leopard does not have it).
With some laptops there have been some issues with the cable up the back of the screen pulling loose with regular and frequent use of the lid, but this will not apply to you based on your specs. (it does take time to appear and is also somewhat rare). However it seems enough contact with the camera can make it appear in System Profiler and power it on but not give a pic.
If a Safe Boot does not work I would also try a PRAM reset.
Shut down the computer.
Restart it holding down Apple/CMD (or ⌘)+ALT( ⌥)+P+R Keys until you have heard three Start Up Bongs.
This is actually "less" destructive in that it clears less memory items than Safe Boot but they are different enough to warrant trying.
Do you have an older version of iGlasses installed ?
The one for Leopard does not work for Snow Leopard.
Do you have Web Browser open ?
This may point to Google Video Chat Plug-in and Flash Conflict. It would be rare to allow another app to access the camera even if not displayiong a Pic.
(Chrome Installs the Plug-in as does the standalone download).
Knowing what "any application" exactly you are trying might help us pin it down.
Any additional downloaded apps that can use the camera ?
Do you happen to have something balck in front of the camera ?

Certain videos give me only a black screen, for example all CBS News or Cnettv videos. Most videos, including, for example, NBS News videos play fine, as do the commercials before CBS News videos, but when a CBS video is supposed to start the window goes black and there is no sound. The counter does not advance. I have Flash player Version 11.8.800.175; IE version 10.0.9200.16686, update version 10.0.9, on Windows 7. ActiveX filtering is off, Shockwave Flash Object is enabled. I have the same problem on two similarly configured Dell computers in two cities.
