Only 464 out of 3 200 photos sync to iPad

Hi!
After a harddisk failure i got a new.
Restored with Time Machine
When I next time tried to sync my iPad it told me
The folder are not the same as before, continue.
I answered Yes
But only the newest photos goes to iPad
Any ideas
Can  I delete photos on iPad

Photos that were synced to the iPad from a computer can only be deleted by moving/removing them from where they were synced from and re-syncing - they don't get a trashcan option on the iPad.
If the Time Machine restore restored the iTunes photo cache on your Mac then try deleting it and then re-try the photo syncing (the location of the photo cache is described on this page http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1314)

  • Why is my preview area showing only greyed out boxes instead of photos?

I am unable to import my photos so they can be seen.  Whether I try to import them from the hard drive, camera card, or my desktop (following the tutorial), I do not see photographs in the preview area, only greyed out boxes instead of photos.  If I imported 6 photos, I have six greyed out (photo-sized) boxes.  The specific photos are there somehow, becuase they are properly named when I scroll the mouse over them, but I see only flat grey, no pictures.  As I said, this happens even when I follow the tutorial and import from my desktop.

    George,
I appreciate you responding to my inquiry.  We (that would be the "royal" we, which would be my husband) finally determined that the monitor was not configured properly.  "We" discovered this out after uninstalling and reinstalling Lightroom several times.
To answer your question, I was trying to import both photos taken in JPEG, as well as RAW, both were problematic.  I could import no images.  It was interesting that I could tell all of the data was coming over (when I floated the cursor over a grayed-out box I could read the data), just not the images.
I have a Nikon D5100.  I purchased Lightroom 5.0 just before now(two days ago), and was trying to install and play with it.  I upgraded to 5.2 as I was going into it for the first time (it is an automatic question).  I knew there was obviously a problem when I couldn't see any images.  Particularly when I went into the tutorials -- it just reemphasized that something was wrong.  Who ever thinks of how their monitor is configured?????
Thank you for following up.  I was very frustrated for many, many hours.

Did you connect your iPad to your computer then open the application on your computer that transfers photos from a camera? Your computer should recognize the iPad as a camera. All photos in the Camera Roll on the iPad should then be seen and you should be able to copy them to the computer using that application.
Photos that were synced to your iPad by connecting to your syncing computer cannot be copied back this way as the master file for those photos are on the syncing computer.

If you manually manage the device the you can remove the content from the PC after you have put it on the device. However this isn't the recommended way. At some point you'll probably need to restore it which involves wiping all the data. If you don't have all this data to hand then you'll have to try to recover it from a now problematic device first. It's much easier to sync with your library - yes you have two copies, but that's not a waste, it is prudent. As long as you have two copies you can afford to lose one knowing you have a backup. In practice I keep a complete backup of my library, in addition to the subsets of it that I can put on my devices.

  • Photo sync with iPad after iOS5 upgrade

Following upgrade to iOS5 lost all photos & folders on ipad1, folders on windows pc won't sync when ticking all folders, only if using choose folder, if you try to select another folder it first deletes the previously syncd folder. Any ideas?

You need to sync all the folders/albums that you want on the iPad together in one go, as only the most recent photo sync remains on the iPad. There is help on syncing photos on this page : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4236

  • Photo Stream photo syncing on iPad?

I just bought a new iPad, and the Photos app only shows a fraction of my Photo Stream photos. (My Mac's iPhoto app and my iPhone both show more than 700; the iPad shows just a couple dozen of the most recent.) Any idea what's going on? I'd appreciate your help! Thanks.

    Hi astapple,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
To start with troubleshooting this issue where your Photo Stream is not appearing on your iPad, please follow the steps below.
I don't see photos from My Photo Stream on my iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
From the Home screen, tap Settings > Wi-Fi.
Make sure that Wi-Fi is on and your device is connected to a wireless network. You can use these steps to troubleshoot your Internet connection on your iOS device.
From your Home screen, tap Settings > iCloud > Photos.
Make sure that My Photo Stream is on. If it’s already on, turn it off and tap Delete. After it turns off, turn My Photo Stream on again.
Close the Camera app on the device that took the photo. Photos won't upload from an iOS device to the Recently Added album (or the My Photo Stream album in iOS 7) until you close the Camera app.
See if your iOS device is below 20% battery power. To preserve battery life, downloads and uploads from My Photo Stream are disabled when the battery reaches 20%. Downloads and uploads will continue after you charge your device, and the battery charge is greater than 20%.
Due to storage limitations, your Apple TV might display only your most recent photos.

  • Photo syncing between iPad and Lightroom?

iTunes supports Adobe's Photoshop Elements as a source application for photo albums to sync to iPad. I'm thinking of switching from PSE9 to LightRoom 4, and have downloaded a trial copy. I currently sync PSE albums to my iPad2 via iTunes (Windows 7). I don't see any way of doing the equivalent with LR. Does anyone know a way, other than by using another piece of s/w like Photosmith? Is iTunes likely to get support for LR?

Lightroom is a non-desctive photo editing platform (which is a huge step up from PSE by-the-way). Part of this is that you will need to export your photos before you can use your edited photos. After exporting them to a folder, you can have iTunes monitor those folders.
Another app you should consider is Mosaic View is which is better than Photosmith at providing instant automatic access to your Lightroom photos.
Something tells me that with Aperture/iPhoto being a direct competator to Lightroom... automatic Lightroom access is not in the cards nativly in iOS anytime soon.

  • IPad photos sync forces iPad restart

I have 9,900 photos in iPhoto.
If I add some & resync from iTunes it optimizes then syncs - seems OK.
when I start photos on the iPad it says Please wait. Updating library...
This lasts a minute or two then the screen goes black.
If I leave it alone then in a minute or two it beeps and forces an iPad restart with the apple symbol along with the non spinning version of the busy symbol.
After the reboot - if I select photos this starts all over again.
If in iTunes I turn off photo syncing and delete all the photos from the iPad, then turn syncing back on again and resync the iPad everything works fine - but this loop takes FOREVER!
    Rebuiding iPhoto database now...

I found and told Apple that I have constant entries into my area Users/Kay/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/MobileDevice/Kay Fisher's iPad/*
For instance I had 33 entries created the day I send the data to Apple that looked like:

  • Only 2 out of 7 CalDAV calendars sync to iPhone

    Hello all,
I am trying to host CalDAV calendars on my own LAN. I downloaded and installed Apple Server, got a certificate, and enabled push notifications in the Server application Calendar pane. Then I exported all of the calendars on my machine to .ics files, and imported them onto the server. There are 9 different calendars. They all show up in the Calendar apps on the 4 computers at home, and events added on one computer show up on the others as expected. We have 3 iPhones in the family. After adding the CalDAV accounts on the iPhones, only 2 of the 9 CalDAV calendars show up on the iPhones. The same 2 calendars show up on all the phones, and the same 7 calendars are missing on all the phones. When I touch "Calendar" at the bottom of the screen in the Calendar app on the phone, the names of all 9 calendars are visible, with check marks next to them indicating that they should be visible in the calendar, but no events on those 7 missing calendars show up. I've tried altering the push/fetch settings in the iPhone preferences to no avail.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks in advance,
    Spalding

Close iPhoto and open your iPhoto Library package with the Finder as shown in this screenshot,
Locate and move the iPod Photo Cache folder to the Desktop.  (Do no make any other changes to the contents of the package!)
Launch iPhoto and try syncing again.

  • How can I manage photos sync to iPad in order (001, 002, 003)?

I have comic photos and I want to sync them to my iPad. I am using stock photo app of Apple. But, they don't display in order that cause me difficulties to read.
How can I solve this problem?
    Thanks all!
PS: I am using iPad 3 running 7.1.1.

THe built in photos app defaults to date then name.
One way to get what you want would be to google and use a 'properties editor'...I can't recall the name but I found one for free, and it's a program that changes all the files to the exact same date and time. Then when you sync them to the iPad it'll default to name order.
Or probably an easier way would be to find a different photos app and use that. I'm afraid that I have none to recommend but I know they're out there. Just abandon the apple app that doesn't do what you want and find a third party one with the functionality that you need

  • Photo sync mac / ipad 2

    hi everyone can help me
i'm trying to sync photos albums (form the latest version of iphoto) and every single time i'm trying to sync itunes wants to delete all the application from the ipad.
now.. i'm not a big fan of keeping application back up on my computer. applications keep on updating and if something goes wrong i'd just delete and download the application again: it's not a big deal and since i've already paid for them, i won't pay again.
please note that i'm doing the same process with the iphone and i don't have this problem with the iphone
and i'm keeping the same options in the process
thanks to everyone can help me with this

Yes, I already know that I can tap to get full screen view, but that is far less convenient. I want to be able to see a larger thumbnail so that I can easily select several at once to either move or delete. Thanks any way!

  • ITunes only shows some faces from Aperture to sync to iPad or iPhone

As said in subject, I am missing several sets, projects, folders etc when I go to iTunes and want to select folders and sets to sync. I also see some sets I have deleted many months ago. Seems whatever Aperture creates for syncing is wrong.
Is there any way of resetting/rebuilding that?

    Gerard,
the Aperture previews are stored in the Aperture library package.
    To view these,
(DO NOT TOUCH ANYTHING, unless/until you know what you are doing),
right click on your aperture library file and select show package contents, here is you database, previews, thumbnails, managed masters and more, everything is always available to you, just be careful not to move anything when poking around in here, copying things out is OK.

  • 2 Recovered folders appears and not all photos syncing

Using iPhoto 9.4.1 on my MacBook Air running Mountain Lion V10.8.2. Syncing with iPhone 4S 32GB on iOS6. Syncing with latest iTunes version.
When I choose to sync ALL photos with my iPhone in iTunes it tells me there are 18894 photos to sync. There are actually 18,923 photos in my iPhoto library. And then when it syncs to my iPhone only about half of those go on there.
When I choose to select SOME albums to sync, two folders are listed titled "Recovered Folder" only one of them has one item in it. These folders do not exist in my iPhoto library and never have. No idea where they have come from.
Also when I choose to select SOME albums to sync, another folder called LastNMonths also appears.
In the end all I want is all my photos on my iPhone. Same amount thats in my iPhoto album.
I have deleted the iPod Photo Cache. I have removed all photos. I have restored the iPhone many times.

I am getting events for photostream months, but these don't include everything either.
Here's a basic scenario of what's happening. Let's say I have 5 photos (not videos) that I took on my iPhone. All of them get downloaded in the photostream category on iPhoto on my iMac. However, when I sync my iPhone, only 3 out of the 5 photos end up going into events. If I force import them to iPhoto, it asks if I want to replace the dupes, because they are in my photo stream.
I can't figure out what criteria is used to determine this- it really makes no sense to me.

  • Photos sync from iPhone 9.4.2 got wrong display order in iOS 6

First of all, before I updated iPhoto to the newest version 9.4.2, all things worked fine.
I have set iTunes to sync photos to my new iPad from my iPhoto library, and I have create many smart albums. I know the display order of the photos synced to iPad is sorted by the photo's create time. and it's ok for me.
But after I updated to iPhoto 9.4.2, the problem come. The photos in the smart album on iPad got wrong display order. The order now is sorted by rotation! the landscape direction comes first, then the portrait direction after that. After some time study, I found this only affect the photos which are newly imported to iPhoto. The photos imported before I updated the iPhoto work fine.
Then I tried to create a totally new iPhoto library which contains the whole same set of all the photos, and continued to create the same smart albums. After I synced to the iPad again, the display order of all the smart album got wrong! They all sorted by rotation!
The display order in iPhoto itself on my MacBook was fine. The problem only occurs on my iPad.
I tried all my best to figure out why, and failed, then I thought it may be caused by the update of the iPhoto.
Yesterday, I visited Apple Retail Store, and met some geniuses. They didn't solve this either.
    Can anyone help me? Thanks!

After a deep search in this discussions, I found a semiliar discussion in iOS section:

That may be helpful for me?

  • Sending Flagged Photos to my iPad

Wondering if anyone knows a quick way to send only the photos I have flagged in Lightroom 4 to my iPad so I only end up with my best photos on my iPad rather than my whole collection?

You might want to check out an app called Photosmith. Version 1 allows you to sync images from your iPad to Lightroom. App on the Ipad for sorting etc, and a plugin to import into LR.
Version 2 looks like it will allow bothway transfer, have to admit it is a great tool for me on the road. Download my images (Camera Kit) to my iPad, sort my images, tag etc, then when I get back import the images into LR. Keeps me occupied on long flights and improves my productivity
