Only 6 bookmarks per folder in ios7

After upgrading to ios7 my bookmarks in safari for both my ipad2 and my iPhone 5 only show the first 6 of each folder. My desktop shows all the correct pages but for some reason my newly upgraded products only show six a piece. I have iCloud sync turned on and it worked just fine in ios6.

Here are two screenshots. The first is what I was telling you about as I thought what you meant was that you were saving bookmarks to the Home screen.
The second print screen is the atual Bookmark list from a folder on my iPad. All this shows is that more than 6 are in the folder.

Thanks Barney, I tried that but all that comes up in Spotlight are the log files that show the file paths! I don't know how Steam works. Are all the files held by Steam on their server perhaps?

I had upgraded to firefox 3.0 years ago and lost my firefox 2.0 bookmarks. How do I retrieve them? I keep getting only one bookmark from the html file.

Years back I had installed Firefox 3.0 (at launch, so not beta) into a separate program folder. After installation, I expected to have my bookmarks saved. Recently I found out my bookmarks were in application data and I found out I had one profile. That meant that my firefox 2.0 bookmarks were replaced.
I read up on the FAQs and it stated that bookmark backups only save the previous 5 days or so, so I don't think they are usable though I have them saved. The bookmarks.html file in my profile shows only one bookmark after importing it into firefox 3.5 and firefox 2.0 (downgraded back to check it out), google chrome, and internet explorer. I still have the bookmarks.bak and bookmarks.html.bak files as well.
A little backstory before I got up to this point because it's a bit convoluted because I thought I could retrieve them like IE favorites which were easy:
1) Switched to Firefox 2.0 from Internet Explorer and got several hundred bookmarks.
2) Got HyperBookmarks add-on which bugged up and replaced my previous bookmarks folder though it stated in FAQs that my original Firefox 2.0 bookmarks were in a separate folder so I didn't worry about it.
3) Upgraded to Firefox 3.0 and it replaced all my bookmarks with nothing in bookmarks list. I thought it was saved because I installed Firefox 3.0 in a separate folder.
4) Retrieved 3.0 Bookmarks and Archived them, but wasn't able to find Firefox 2.0 Bookmarks (original) nor the HyperBK version, except in HyperBk Backups folder.

In the "Edit this Bookmark" window, use the 2nd drop-down button, that is to the right of the "Folder", to open a larger window that will allow more folder to appear. See the sloppy red arrow on the screenshot below.

How can I synch ONLY the default 'contacts' folder in Outlook 2003?

I am using Outlook 2003 SP3. In my 'contacts' menu I have 3 folders: 'Contacts', 'iPhone' and 'Old.' I created 'iPhone' and 'Old' folders and 'Contacts' was the default folder. When I synch my 3G iPhone with Outlook I want to synch ONLY the default 'contacts' folder. But I can't seem to do this. My options are to synch all folders or a selection of non-default folders (i.e., anything but 'Contacts.')
Does this make sense? I don't want to synch anything in the 'old' folder to my iphone. But I also don't want to move all of my current contacts to a special folder just so I can synch only these items.
So when I synch my iPhone I want it to limit the synching to only the default 'contacts' folder.
Is there a way to do this?

Open one of the folders that keeps changing. Set it to the view mode you prefer. Press Command-J (Show View Options in View menu).
At the top of the View Options screen is an item which allows one to set "Always open in xxx view". Chekmark that.
Repeat for each folder you want.
This is a per-folder setting. Note that the View Options screen is 'live" - you can leave it open, and as you open successive folders it will display the settings for each in turn.

I have just upgraded from 2.0.20 to 3.6.8. The contents of my bookmarks toolbar folder have disappeared. How do I get them back?

1) The upgrade has not created a new profile. I still have only one.
2) I appear to have kept my cookies OK.
3) I have somehow managed to retrieve the old bookmarks list, though I can't remember how I managed this and can no longer find the instructions. What I have lost is the contents of the bookmarks toolbar, which is most important to me. My bookmarks.html file is still present and intact.
4)I have decided, at least for now to revert to Firefox 2. I had the sense to keep a copy of the setup file!

It is possible that the imported Bookmarks Toolbar bookmark folder shows as a folder in the Bookmarks Menu folder.<br />
If that is the case then you can move (Cut & Paste) those bookmarks to the regular Bookmarks Toolbar folder.

How do I get to the Bookmark Toolbar folder in FireFox 4.0?

On firefox 3.6, I have my favorite tabs shown on my home page. When I choose to bookmark a file I am given a choice to locate it in the Bookmark menue or Bookmark toolbar folder. How do I do this in FF4.0

Some menu entries in the main menu bar are hidden if you use the mouse and only appear if you use the keyboard to open the menu (Bug 626825).
You can see the difference if you use Alt+F to open the File menu or Alt+B to open the Bookmarks menu and compare that to what you see if you use the mouse to open the menu after you have made the menu bar visible by tapping Alt or by pressing F10.
* "Bookmark All Tabs" (Shift+Ctrl+D) no longer shows in the Bookmarks menu unless you open the Bookmarks menu via the keyboard (Alt + B).
* "Bookmark This Page" can be accessed via the right-click context menu of that browser page.
* "Bookmark All Tabs" can be accessed via the right-click context menu of a tab on the tab bar.

Writing to XMP file or one file per folder?

I am about to start using LR2. Used to using PS and Bridge. I use DNG and tiffs, and jpgs. I am used to having one file per folder for bridge's info. I do NOT want an XMP file per picture file. How does LR2 do this? I have read a few posts about XMP files and such. Is there a setting to make one file per folder, or does LR2 make XMP files for each picture?

Multiple connections per Folder...

Is there any way to create multiple imap connections per folder. I have written an exchange conversion utility, and I need to get the mime content of every message in a folder, and right now, that is my bottle neck. I want to thread this section of the code so that I can optimize the conversion. I have tried to increase the number of connection in my connection pool to no avail. After reading the api more closely, it seems to me that only one connection is assigned to each folder, so I can only get mime content serially for that folder. Is this true?

I already have the message object with minimal metadata from the original folder. I am using Exchange Web Services to create the mail in Exchange, and it needs the entire mime content base64 encoded, so I do the following...

I would have to open another folder (one imap request per group of messages), getMessageByUID (another imap request per message) and then write the mime content to the encoder stream. I'll give it a shot, but with the extra traffic, i'm not overly optimistic of a performance boost.

How to set a default folder for Live Bookmarks ( instead of the bookmarks toolbar folder ) ?

When I subscribe to a RSS feed, Live Bookmarks put these in the "Bookmarks Toolbar" folder by default.
I'll like to change this default folder to another one into the bookmarks ( like the firefox : "Subcribed Feeds" folder )

The short answer is that I dont think you can change the default "browse folder". It will let the end users browse whatever folders they have the permission to view. But you can solve your problem in some other ways, like:
1) Remove any permissions regarding the root folder for the end users. In this way they will not be able to browse it through the search component. Configure permissions for all other folders you dont want end users to access.
2) Create a range of meaningful indexes and only let the user search the indexes (with a meaningful name), not the folders. If you like, you can hide the folder search option by adding &EnableSearchFromFolder=False to the KM search parameters (search the forum for more info).
3) Give the users access to a simple KM navigation iview with a customized layoutset that only lets the end user browse the documents repository and contains a link to the UI command "search_from_here" which will "Opens a dialog box for searching within the current folder or subfolders" (taken from the description of the ui command).

I am not able to delete, or move, ANY bookmark or folder.

I am able to navigate to any bookmark in the "bookmarks" drop-down menu. However, I cannot delete, or move, ANY bookmark or folder. When I open "organize bookmarks" ALL of the areas are blank; there are no bookmarks or folders listed.

I guess your external drive is Windows (NTFS) formattet.
By default you were only able to read from that drive, as Mac doesent support NTFS write.
If you want to have read/write access to a NTFS volume you have to use add-in tools like MacFuse or Paragon on your Mac.
Not having write or delete permissions on the external drive may also preventyou from changing existing files on that drive.
Right click on the drive in Finder and choose "Information" from the menu will give you more information about the reasons of your problem.

How can I have only a specific smart folder in Finder displayed in coverflow and all other folders in icon view?

There are a couple of smart folders actually that i want in coverflow mode only, but the rest i want in icon view. Is there a way to do this? i thought i had it figured out, but then it would revert back to the icon view for everything.

Per folder umask level??

Hi, I was wondering if it is possible to set the NSUmask level or something similar on a per folder basis??
I have a fairly restrictive set of permissions on my system, but would like to make the Sites folder default to 755 or 754 or something. Is it possible to get this much granularity?
I'm using a client version of OS X10.4.6 if it matters.

Any new files or folders you create will be created with the permissions set by your umask, and you will only have one umask. If you have changed it to be more restrictive than the "default" umask in OS X ("002," making any new files/folders readable by everyone but only writeable by you), then the more restrictive permissions is what you will always get.
However, the "granularity" of permissions is limitless. The only problem is that you might have to set them manually. This need not be that much trouble, though, as long as you are willing to use Terminal to change them. In this case, I recommend that you not use "absolute" modes ("755," 644," etc.), but instead learn to use "symbolic" modes ("g+r," a+rX," etc.).
You see, any files in your directory structure should never be executable, unless they are meant to be executed (a CGI script would be one example of this, but otherwise web files should not be executable by anyone). You want to be able to make changes recursively, and using absolute modes doesn't fit the bill, here.
Let's assume that you want to make your web folder and its contents viewable by everyone, and at the same time you want to make sure no one other than yourself has write permission. Also, we will assume that all of your files and directories are in place, and that they are all in your HOME web directory (not the main directory in /Library/WebServer). The command to use would be:

This command is easily modifiable to operate on the "main" web directory, and you could simply make a text clipping of it, keeping the clipping in an easily accessible location. If and when you change the contents of the web directory, you could just open Terminal, drag in the text clipping, then press <RETURN>. Make note of the fact that I used an upper-case "X" to recursively add execute permission. Using the upper-case "X" in a symbolic mode change operates only on directories and files that already have the execute bit set for someone. This is one important reason to use symbolic modes when making recursive changes.
As I say, it need not be any problem. Of course, another solution would be to return to the default umask present in OS X. There are absolutely no security concerns leaving this umask in place, as long as permissions for the folders inside your HOME folder remain at OS X defaults.

Keep mail local on per folder basis

I have multiple email accounts in Mail. One of them is an Exchange account and one of the folders that is shared with me is one called "Public Folders". This folder has sub-folders that I need and sub-folders that I do not need. The sub-folders that I do not need are taking up too much disk space.
In preferences it gives me the option (per account) to download All message and their attachments or not to download message, etc.
Question: Is there a way that I can have that option to download messages or not be on a per folder basis instead of on a per account basis?

No, and you cannot unsubscribe to any mailboxes either. It’s either all or nothing, but setting Keep copies of messages for offline viewing to Only messages I’ve read should be close to what you want, except the junk filter won’t work in that case...

How can I re-establish the notification of the number of mails per folder?

The number of emails per folder always was shown in thunderbird but with the last updates regularly is lost. In the past the columns shown with the folders could be chosen - how can this be done in the new version (v.24.6.0 under windows 8.1)?

I've never had problems displaying the columns, with various TB versions or themes, but maybe you have another add-on that is causing the problem, or your pane layout has changed. What happens if you re-install the EFC add-on?

App tabs are special tabs and are always displayed at the left end of the tab bar.
You can place all bookmarks that you want to see on the Bookmarks Toolbar in the Bookmarks Toolbar folder.<br />
You can do that in the side bar or the Bookmarks manager if you can't do it on the Bookmarks Toolbar.<br />
Most Visited is a special (smart) folder that shows websites that you've visited and that aren't necessarily bookmarks, so you can't drag them on the bookmarks toolbar unless you first bookmark them. You can do that by opening them in a tab and clicking the star on the location bar twice and choose the Bookmarks Toolbar as the destination folder.
