Only 62 songs, but says 537 songs???!!!

Hey Every1!
I just got a 2GB nano for christmas. I opened the gift on the 26th (today) and registered it and set it up. When I put some songs on it (i counted and only 65) and it was fully charged. I went to play a certain song and it stops 40 seconds into a song, and goes to the main menu, and erases all the settings I changed! I reset it by switching the hold switch on & off, then holding Menu and Center (because it was acting really strange.) I then go to "Songs" in the Music menu, and play a song. It says song 1 of 537! I check my play list and it goes back to 1 of 65 songs. I then go to Settings-->About and it says the following:
Colby's iPod
Songs 65
Photos 13
Capacity 1.7 GB
Available 1.4 GB
and so on and so on...
Can someone plz help, could it be some type of virus for iPods?

Ok but have you done it? You have not mentioned if you tried it and what happened.

And I don't see any way of redownloading the song. It says it should be fine. The song's duration is listed as about 5 minutes, but whenever it gets to 2 minutes or so it ends and just goes on to the next song. What can I do?

Depending upon what country that you are in (music can't be re-downloaded in all countries) then try deleting that track from your iTunes library and redownload it via the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes.
If you aren't in a country where you can re-download music or if it re-downloads in the same state then try the 'report a problem' page to contact iTunes Support : http://reportaproblem.apple.com

You could check to see if there are any other stores that you can buy the song from. How about the artist's website? I've bought a couple of MP3s and even CDs from Australian artist's websites.

Ipod shows only 111 songs but itunes says has 16Gb on it

Itunes says 16Gb on ipod but only 111 songs show up. Windows explorer also says ipod is half ful. Tried the change drive letter thing and get no luck help

How are your tracks encoded? If they are in a lossless format such as Apple Lossless, AIFF, or even WAV, then the individual file size of each track is going to be very large.

Why can I change my shopping list of music that I by, to ITunes Shping List, because i9n the total list, say that I by 750 songs, but in my Biblioteca Don´t see, only 414 songs. I hope your anser.

My problem is that in the listing total purchases of songs, i appear that buy 750 songs. However in my list of purchases in my library (purchases on Itunes) appear only 414 songs. How do I move the listing total purchase to my library in Itunes, because it does not let me copy and paste them in any way.

When I try to sync my iPod with iTunes I can't because it says it's over capacity. It's not. It's a 16 GB iPod, it's only 105 songs on there. No movies or pictures or such. Anybody got a word of advise?

Anybody got a word of advise? I've tried resetting the iPod but get the message that it's not possible cause i'm not connected to internet. I am though. Tried managing music manually. I've tried all the usual stuff.

Go to Settings > General > Usage and see how much is shown available and how much is in "Other".

Ok, so I synched my iphone 4 to my computer recently and now when I go to play music on my phone, only the songs I've bought on Itunes play. I put all of my music collection that is in CD form on my computer and it used to play on my phone too, but now it just skips those songs. They still play on my computer though. De-sync all your music to remove it from the device, then restart (hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until you see the apple, then let go). Now re-sync your music.

I have iTunes Match, but some of the music I loaded from CDs and I can see in the iTunes store won't play. It recognizes the album but is playing literally the only 3 songs I don't want to listen to.

Initially your music should be in your iTunes library on your computer. Once match completes its scan, your music will have been matched or uploaded. I suggest that you add iCloud status column to song view. This will tell you what has been matched, uploaded, purchased, inelligible, duplicate or waiting. What is the status of your tracks that are not playing.
If space is not an issue, I suggest that you keep the music on the internal hard drive otherwise you can delete the tracks and play from cloud. In both instances, you should maintain a back up of all your music on a separate hard drive.

I have a 2GB IPOD with only 385 songs on it. I downloaded 2 CD's to iTunes but when I try and sync the IPOD I'm getting an error message indicating there isn't enough space. I thought a 2GB would hold at least 500 songs.

I have a 2GB IPOD with only 385 songs on it. I downloaded 2 CD's to iTunes and when I try and sync the IPOD I'm getting an error message that says I don't have enough free space. I thought a 2GB IPOD held at least 500 songs. I've even deleted songs from from iTunes library.

The figures that Apple used to use when saying how many songs coud fit onto any particular iPod were based on a 4 minute song at a Bit Rate of 128Kbps and that's the bit rate that songs sold by iTunes used to be in. However, now the iTunes Store sells songs at 256Kbps (as do many other MP3 stores) - which means that each song now uses twice as much storage space than before.
So if your songs have a bit rate of higher than 128Kbps, and/or they are all longer than four minutes each, that's why 385 songs is filling up your iPod. You can check how much space is being used when the iPod is connected to iTunes Library. Look on the Device panes for the capacity bar at the bottom of the window. How much space is being used by Music?
The solution is either:
Use iTunes to make 128Kbps versions to go onto your iPod - or,
Sync the iPod using Playlists and then choosing which Playlists you want on it. Smart Playlists may be the answer - you can set Smart Playlists up so that they automatically add and remove songs from your iPod, so that there is a constant change of songs (according to the rules you set)

I can't figure out any pattern to the songs it does it on versus that it doesn't do it on. Some of the songs are purchased, some are imported, etc. We are running Windows 7.

If you don't have it on your backup of your downloads/library then you might be able redownload it via the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage, or if you go into the Store tab in Edit > Preferences (iTunes > Preferences on a Mac) and tick the 'show iTunes in the cloud purchases' tickbox it might then show in the Music part of your library with a cloud icon against it for redownloading. If it doesn't show then check to see if you've hidden it : iTunes Store: Hiding and unhiding purchases.
