Only Audio Is Exporting to Tape????

Hi
I am trying to export a sequence to a minidv tape on FCP, using my dvx100a as a deck. I've been able to do this before...only this time, only the audio is exporting to the tape, and the video shows up as just black. When I stop the exporting process, the frame which I exit on shows up on the camera's viewfinder but is not recorded.
Any suggestions on how I can get both video and audio to export to the tape?
Thanks in advance!

Neither of theses suggestions solved my problem...
...maybe somebody could tell me what my ideal A/V Setting should be if i am trying to a simple print to video with a miniDV camera (firewire)...and why only black shows up for video?
the best ive gotten so far is being able to play the video on the timeline and have it show up on the camera...i can hear the audio, but on the camera screen, all that shows up is the 1st frame and it holds as the audio plays.
What is going on!?!?
im really stuck
Thanks!

  • No Audio on Export to Tape

I need to export a spot to a miniDV tape. I'm using a JVC BR-DV600U deck and sending the timeline to it over IEEE 1394. The video works fine, Premiere controls the deck with "Export to Tape", but there's no audio. What do I need to do to make the audio send as well?

Nevermind, got it working. Apparently you can't monitor the audio while it's being recorded to tape over 1394. Seems that the record volume is a little higher than on the timeline, but I included bars & tone, so they should be able to adjust.

  • No image when exporting to tape

I have a project that I am trying to print to tape. The sound is recorded, but there is no image. It is just black. I have my mini-DV camera connected via Firewire, and I follow the usual procedure (File - Share - Videocamera...). It plays and I can hear it come through my LCD on my camera, but there is no image. When I check back on the tape, the audio is there, but the image is just black.
Is there something obvious I not aware of?

They each went and edited their own projects on iMovie on their own computers. They've consolidated thier projects onto my computer
How did they do it?? Maybe that step corrupted the video??
FWIW, with PAL there is this iMovie 4 bug that can bite iMovie 5 users as well:
iMovie 4.0.1's "QT Full Quality DV" preset exports PAL-DVCPRO instead of PAL-DV which is a bug: iMovie can re-import such PAL-DVCPRO .dv file but added titles, transitions etc are badly distorted if they are added to a PAL-DVCPRO clip.
It is also not possible to export PAL-DVCPRO to a consumer camcorder (only audio is exported). This is even mentioned in the Apple docs but not fixed.

  • Audio drop out and picture wobble during export to tape

I use a camera to capture footage from DV tapes - it's its only job and is always connected to the Mac.
But when playing back the footage from the FCP 4.5 timeline to make a back up DV copy of a finished job it all goes awry.
The audio cuts in and out - from normal audio to silence and back again at no regular intervals but every few seconds.
The picture wobbles just as though the camera isn't getting enough power (it is connected to the mains)I watch the playback with the camera's flip out screen.
On the computer it all looks fine. Playing back the DV tape shows me what I saw on the flip out screen - a wobbly picture with intermittent sound.
The cables are good. The camera works fine in all other respects, the external firewire drives work fine, the computer is good.
I'm stumped! I can't export to tape any more...
But exporting the files via compressor to make DVDs is fine - no problems.

Playing back the DV tape shows me what I saw on the flip out screen - a wobbly picture with intermittent sound.
The cables are good. The camera works fine in all other respects, the external firewire drives work fine, the computer is good.
Not quite sure how you reach your conclusion in the second paragraph. If it displays fine on the computer and is TOTAL JUNK after it heads out the firewire cable - I'd start with every piece of equipment that connects to the computer. Time to do A/B testing. find another camera, A-DV converter, firewire cables, even the computer and test each element.
    good luck.

  • AUDIO PROBLEMS when exporting to tape

    Hi!
    ADOBE PRO CS4 on VISTA.
    a)  Produced my film on timeline and there everything is perfect. Audio and video are fully synchronised.
However: when I export to tape, playing the exportresult, audio comes about 10 seconds later then the corresponding video! Already from the very first clip!
I rerenderd audio and Work area a few times and also tried Clip -> Audio Options-> Render and Replace but nothing seems to work out.
This is the second time I have this problem.
    b)  When there is no solution for this problem ( an awfull idea!!) I think I have to Unlink Video and Audio for all my clips (about a thousand of them) and then shift the audiopart about 10 seconds to the left.
I found out that "group-unlink" with the help of the ALT knob (an advice I read about here) doesn't function with me !!
Is there a solution for these problems? Thanks a lot!

  • Export to tape with two separate audio channels

This is probably an obvious one, but I'm having a lot of trouble with it. How do I export to tape making two separate audio channels that can be pulled out separately; not mixed, in other words? I can print to tape, but of course that mixes the audio channels so they're inseperable. I am having trouble with the edit to tape feature, in that, for some reason I can't do insert editing.
My real question is about the separating of the tracks, though. If anyone can help me with that, I will be extremely grateful.
    Thanks.

How do I export to tape making

Are you sure that your audio channels are seperate on the timeline. You may have the tracks mono and don't realize it. For example you might have voice on channel one and music on two and three. You may need to pan the tracks right and left accordingly.

  • Premiere Pro CS5 Not exportting to tape on TWO different Computers!!! HELP

I had a prior post in january with a new desktop having problems exporting to tape. when it would export a blue screen would come up at random times breaking up the recording. almost like the camera was losing signal with the computer.
Im capturing and exporting using a Canon XHG1 HDV camera.
Both the Laptop (sony vpcf11x) and Desktop (custom with intel sandybridge motherboard) can CAPTURE tapes fine. but export causes problems on BOTH machines.
Both of my computers (a laptop and desktop use the Intel i7 chipset.
I have a Third desktop (gateway something or other) that ive been using Sony Vegas to Export to tape and it WORKS EVERYTIME! with the same Camera and Firewire Cable.
Itried installing Sony Vegas onto the new Desktop to export and I get the SAME problem that I get with Exporting with Premiere.
has anyone else heard of these problems? it is really starting to irritate me. with everything ive done, it has to be something with Adobe. how can i have the same problem on two different computers?

Here are more specific information with my system and settings for you to see. I also included a video of my workflow and showing you what exactly is happening on export.
    Project Settings:
    Capture Format DV
Video Rendering and Playback: Mercury Playback Engine Software only
    Sequence Settings:

    Export to tape settings:
    Activate recording device is checked
assemble timecode, delay movie start, and preroll _ frames (none are checked)
abort after _ dropped frames (not checked)
    report dropped frames (not checked)
render audio before video (is checked)
I render out the video to one file (on my desktop).
then import the clip into a new sequence with the above settings.
    file>export>tape>
then it begins recording and drops out like the camera loses signal.
    this is really frusterating.

  • Premiere CS 5.0.3 problem export to tape via firewire

    hi
My problem is that i can't able to export a sequence into a tape dv by firewire
    I use premiere cs5.0.3, matrox rtx2hd, win 7 and a sony hvr-M15J
I've not problem to IMPORT tape from a matrox sequence neither from a premiere sequence but I CAN'T export to tape (i use firewire connecting my hvr-15j to matrox rtx2)
    My workflow
I create a premiere sequence, the device control is online, in sequence setting>Playback setting i set DV 25i (720 x 576) but  when i start to export to tape my sony hvr start to rec, timecode going on but it's all black and no audio
i try different setting in playback setting but nothing change, what's the problem?
Device control is online but maybe i have to change setting ofsony  hvr-M15j ? The strange thing is that I've not problem to import dv tape
    please help me
    thanks

Matrox has no bearing on this - RTX2 just passes video through. It uses Adobe settings for capture and export.
Make sure your playback settings reflect what you are trying to export. Try this:
    1. External Device set to DV, etc.
    2. Audio button set to "External Device Audio"
    3. External Device set to your DV device, not None.
    4. MPE set to software only in the Project panel.

  • Export to tape hassles in CS4, command sorta loops???

I have a SONY HVR-M15AU HDV deck which I have captured HDV footage from with no problem. I have an edited timeline sequence which I want to export to tape. I get the "Export to HDV" window OK, but when I hit "render and record" the "transcoding to HDV" window opens for only a split second before reverting back to the "Export To HDV" window. I cannot seem to break this loop. I have tried many settings but nothing seems to work. I can export to Encore and burn a BluRay disc fine. The "Export To Tape" button is NOT grayed out, and I cannot record on the deck manually either as I cannot see any video feeding back to the deck. I REALLY NEED to export back to tape. Any suggestions???

I have just posted similar problems.
    i can click on Timeline/sequence...

  • Premiere will not export to tape - video freezes

I'm sort of revisiting a problem I thought I solved. Initially I had issues with playback in my source and program monitors. I would hit play and it would roll the video for about two seconds then freeze (the audio would continue).
I found that only when I had my DV device (sony PD-170 or Sony DSR-11) hooked up to the computer, it would do this. But when I pulled the firewire from my device it would no longer freeze and I could go on with my editing.
I thought, okay, I'll just capture the footage then pull the device. That's worked up until I realized that it does the same thing if I want to export to tape. It will not play the video in the program monitor so my recording device records nothing at all.
Any ideas on why this happens only when my DV device is hooked up to the computer?

I'm with Jim. Works for me.
Another alternate is CyberLink Power Director (not freeware), that also does a good job with all SD material to my Canons.
Sorry that I do not have a direct answer for you,

  • Export to tape failed

I did have lots of trouble using PPRO 5.5., stuttering video, no Encore library, bad editing conditions etc. After lots of tryings which didn't work, I decided to completely reinstall everyting and change the SSD for a oldfashioned 7200 rpm disk.
It Looks that changing my SSD drive for the OS  and completely reinstall everything has solved most of my problems. I only don't know if it is the reinstalling or changing the SSD what helped me out.
I must  do some editing to look if this stay this way. Hopefully it works now.
But one problem stays, and this is a main problem for me, because I use DV tape to archive my editing results. And without this feature PPRO 5.5 is not working for me.
When I try  export to tape, the recorders start to record, but there is no video and no audio signal on the output. I did try two recorders and tried a lot of "external device" possibilities.
    Capturing from tape goes well.
I did try the suggestions Harm Millard gave on one of his valuable forumsuggestions , to quit CPU accelerator and to change the IEEE driver into the "old" driver. But that didn't help much.
Anyone any suggestions to overcome this problem?
    Thanks for replying
    Chris Nierop

    To answer your questions
2 decks, one is listed in the PPRO list:  JVC  BR DV 600 and an SONY DHR 1000 VC .
The JVC I already used when I edited with the PPRO 2.0, and that worked (at least in combination with the Matrox 100 card wich I used then) .
I did try different cables, I did completely new installation of windows 7, several new installations of PPRO 5.5, I did try to "power on" deck first, and then start windows, power on first after start  windows and before starting PPRO, and all the combinations you can think of.  I did try manually recording.  I tried the two recorders, both failed. I searched the forumsites, I bought a custom build system completely conform the ADOBE specs, just to avoid the problems which I am in now. I did install only the ADOBE software to look if there could be some problems with other software.
Because Adobe suggested to install the "old driver" for the IEEE and use the "softwaresetting" I think Adobe PPRO 5.5 has a bug that they tried to "solve" with some special  settings, that maybe sometimes helps, but not in my case.  The last three months I am daily busy to get the software workable.
So far, so bad and I lost my trust in the ADOBE software. It looks to me that they never got to overcome the problems which they had in the 80 of the 20e century, when the computer software of the PPRO 5 series normally was named as "Plug and Pray", but then that was not only to blame ADOBE, the windows software also had his problems working with installed software.
But today, with the superfast systems it miust be possible to develope a system which is Plug and Play, with probally some minor settingproblems to solve.

  • PE 2 Export to tape problem

Could anyone please give me an answer to this, in Elements 2, if I export to tape it plays the timeline out to the tape ok, when you play the tape back in the camera everything seems alright, If I then try to capture the said tape, I can’t detect any Audio, Video is fine, although there is sound on the camera
If I export to tape in Premiere Pro that tape can be captured Video and Audio.
Why is it not working in PE 2, I’m sure it used to, very embarrassing when I sent a tape to someone and he couldn’t capture sound, he rang to say there is sound on the camera, but won’t capture it, then I tried at my end and found there was this problem.

Because of the way video is streamed over FireWire from a miniDV, it really isn't possible that you're getting the video and not the sound, Team. They're all one file!
There are only a few possibilities that I can think of:
    1) Your camcorder is recording the audio at a non-standard sample rate or audio format (something other than 12 bit 48K).
    2) Your camcorder is equipped with a dubbing feature and, for some reason, the audio is configured to record to channels 3 and 4 rather than 1 and 2.
But you're right. If if either of these were true, why would it work with version 1 and not version 2?
    So one other possibility is:
    3) The ASIO is configured wrong in version 2. Seems strange that that's the case on two computers -- but it could be.
The test is to play the video you've captured with version 2 in Windows Media Player. Is there sound?
If there is sound, you know that version 2 captured the audio okay but the program isn't playing it right.
If there is no sound, then there must be an issue with how the camcorder is configured.
As I said, audio and video streaming over FireWire from a miniDV are not two separate files! So there's no way the program could get one and not the other. The only possibility is that, for some reason, one program is seeing it and the other isn't.

  • CS5 will not export to tape

First off, I'm running CS5 and Windows 7.
I have checked all the obvious setting, external device in playback setting etc.  The communication is otherwise good from the computer to the deck, however when I export to tape I get nothing.  On occasion I will get a single frame from the timeline coming through with no audio.  The device control works fine and the capturing is fine.
Any ideas?  I have found a few others online having this problem, but nobody ever replies with anything more than the obvious "check sequence-sequence settings-playback settings".

I only want to report that it is working for me and I'm on Windows 7 also - so don't give up hope - it's
very possible that there is some minor setting that needs adjusting - are you certain that your deck format matches up with your timeline format? By that I mean if you are sending HDV out - is your deck set up to recieve that and not DV or vice versa? Just a thought that came to my mind.

  • CS3, exporting to tape has problems with more than two video tracks

Well, not quite, but that's the best I could do in the subject line.
I record multiple performances and edit scenes from among them.  At times, this results in three or four video tracks on the timeline at once.  Each track is 100% opaque, so only the top Enabled track shows.  By Enabling or Disabling the various tracks, I can get the sequence I want.
And the sequence plays back fine in the Monitor window.  But when I try to Export it to tape, as soon as I get to such a place, the image hiccups around the same small number of frames (think of the video equivalent of an audio sample).
It's not the number of video tracks.  I can add Image Mattes on a third video track operating on the two below.  I can add any number of titles on different tracks.  They need to render, but then they export to tape perfectly.
What's different about three or more .avi tracks, even when they are Disabled?

Thanks, Jim, for your reply to this and other threads.  (Warning:  I had two other questions — been saving them up for awhile — that I'll post shortly.  It was too late already last night).
    > AVIs need to be "read" from the hard drive and can create a bottleneck depending on certain conditions.
Agreed, but unless there is partial opacity in the top Enabled track, only one track at a time is exported.  And in the cases I cited, the unused clips were Disabled.  No need for Premiere to read them at all.  I assume the state of each clip is part of the Project.
Ah well, I was only curious if I was missing something obvious, or perhaps it was a known bug that would be addressed.  Apparently the additional resources needed for tape export push Premiere over some edge.  Remember, I can watch (even Preview) the sequence in the Monitor window without seeing this artifact.
    > Render before exporting to tape is SOP.  Go with that.
Naturally.  And I do.  And if I didn't, Premiere would do it for me automatically before opening the Export to Tape window.
Thanks again.  On to the next thread.

  • Export to tape issues

    Hi Everyone,
    (First time poster)
I was wondering if someone could help me. I have a new HP tower: Windows 7 Home 64bit Intel I7 Processor 8gb ram ATI 1gb video card with CS5 Production Premium.
When I try to 'Export To Tape' -on various Professional level decks and cameras-, (Sony DSR-45 & 1500, Panasonic DV 200, Sony PD-170), the audio/video comes out intermittent with 'stutters' or goes to black and then comes back, etc.
Now I have the firewire cable set on Legacy and when I use CS3- same machine- I have no issues or errors so it's not the firewire cable. I keep checking the Sequence Settings on PP CS5 but it doesn't work. I chose Hardware if supported, Software, None, etc.
I believe I've seen others with this same issue and, at least from what I saw, there isn't a fix yet.
This seems to be the only issue that I'm having as I'm burning to DVD and then going Out of my DVD Player to the camera via RCA which doesn't really keep the quality.
Hopefully I gave enough information and would love to get some other thoughts opinions for a Fix or Workaround if there is one. I have All my adobe products updated to their latest versions so I don't really know what else to do.
Thanks Everyone and I Hope to hear back from you guy's soon :-)
