Only checked songs on playists are burned.

How can I get around the fact that only checked songs on playlists are burned when doing my backup? Checking every song will wreak havoc on my playlists.

Well, that's the way checkmarks work, if you read the iTunes > Help > iTunes and Music Store help
"Understanding the symbols next to songs and other items"
Can you make a static playlist for burning and only check them there?

I have an iPhone 5s and in my iTunes music library have the songs checked that I want downloaded onto my phone. Instead of doing this, it is syncing all songs whether they are checked or not even tho I have the "sync only checked songs" box checked. So basically it's syncing all of the songs when I just want the checked ones on. This is very frustrating.

When your device is connected, check the tabs at the top ("Summary" "Apps" "Music," etc. Under the Music one, check to see if "Sync Music>entire music library" is checked. If it is, that may be why all the songs are syncing.

  • ITunes no longer loads "checked" songs onto my iPhone 5.  It seem to be all or nothing or choose from the 4 categories.  What happened to "sync only checked songs?"

  • Sync only checked song and videos - not working

On my iTouch, the only way I can get music on it is manually or through a playlist. The "Sync only checked song and videos" will not work. Am I doing something wrong?

Under the 'Music' tab (when you connect the iPT, and under the 'Devices'), make sure that 'Sync all Music' is selected, not the 'Sync playlists' option.

  • Sync only checked songs is greyed-out

iPod shuffle on an iMac.  I have Manually Manage Music checked.  I am unable to check Sync Only Checked Songs because it is greyed-out.  Thus -- no surprise here --- after I sync, ALL of the songs on my iPod play, rather than only the checked songs.  How do I enable Sync Only Checked if it is greyed out?  Thank you.

I called Applecare and got the answer.

Can you add songs to your phone from iTunes on your computer?
I did an iOS update to one of the 6.X versions and it wiped out all my music and I had to add it back manually even though I has just done a backup to iTunes.  Restoring from that backup didn't help.  My music was all gone.  But since then I have not had any problems with the updates erasing my music.

  • Sync only checked songs isn't working

I recently bought a nano for my husband (I already have an iPod classic). Since our music is pretty similar, I decided to choose the "sync only checked songs" option.
I thought I followed the instructions appropriately. I plugged in the device and selected it. When the summary came up, under options, I selected "sync only checked songs and videos". Then it did the sync, but that's NOT what it did-- it synced EVERYTHING! Then when I exited iTunes and went back in, the option didn't "stick." Am I doing something wrong? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated because it's driving me crazy

*I selected "sync only checked songs and videos". Then it did the sync, but that's NOT what it did-- it synced EVERYTHING ...... then when I exited iTunes and went back in, the option didn't "stick."*
Did you click "Apply" down in the right hand corner of the Summary screen before syncing the iPod and/or before exiting iTunes?

  • What's the dif  "sync only checked songs and videos"&"manually manage music

Can someone please explain the difference between "sync only checked songs and videos" and "manually manage music and videos"

Okay , I had "*Manually Managed*" checked in the summery and had restored the iPod to get rid of some videos that wouldn't go away. When I went to Music and checked *Sync Music* Selected Playlists, etc. it appears that the *Manually Manage* box in the Summery un-checked itself.
    Interesting,
So just to clarify ; When *Manually Managed* is checked you can only drag things into the device from your library (outside the device), using the Music tab within the device will negate this ?

  • Won't keep "sync only checked songs" setting

I am trying to sync only the checked songs to my ipod. The problem is that when I change the setting to "sync only checked songs," it still syncs the unchecked ones. When I eject my ipod and then reconnect it, the "sync only checked songs" setting is off again. I've tried both hitting apply, and then syncing, and syncing multiple times. Very frustrated. Has anyone else encountered this problem?

It's been a while since this question was asked... maybe you figured it out?
I found a trick that seems to get iTunes to re-evaluate what needs to be removed from the iPod. You change the "sync checked songs/videos" option back-and-forth. See this: https://discussions.apple.com/message/17344534#17344534

  • Playing only checked songs on iTunes

when i play music on my iTunes, it will automatically skip to the next checked song. it won't play unchecked songs on random or straight thru. is there some setting to correct this problem?

You could also consider syncing your iPod from a selected playlist then you won't have to manage it manually. Using unchecking to manage an iPod is an option (and works fine when you are working with a small number of specialised tracks such as Christmas songs) but only if you can live with the other things unchecking does:
Unchecked songs will be skipped when playing songs from the library or a selection. They will only play when individually clicked on.
Smart Playlists have an option that unchecked songs won't appear.
Unchecked songs will not be burned to CD.
Genius will not use the songs that are unchecked.
To sync the iPod from a selected playlist open iTunes and create a playlist to sync your iPod from, call it -My iPod for example (the dash will position it at the top of the playlists in Sources). Drag whatever content you want to have into the playlist. Now connect your iPod and when it appears in the Source list click on the iPod icon to bring up the preference tabs in the main pane. Go to the Music tab and choose Sync Music and the Selected playlists radio button. Choose the playlist you just made from the selection and click Apply. You can also sync from any existing playlists by choosing the same setting, you just need to make sure that the size of the playlists don't exceed the capacity of your iPod.
If you want to find out what songs you currently have checked so that you can create a new playlist from them then in iTunes go to File>New Smart Playlist
    Uncheck "Match the following rule"
Check "Limit to", 25 GB (choose a value to suit the size of your library), Selected by Artist
    Check Match only checked items
    Check Live updating

  • Auto Update only Checked Songs

Is there a way to limit my Auto Updating option to only the songs that have a check next to it, or do i have to crop these songs in a separate created playlist?

Connect your iPod, when it appears in iTunes go to Preferences>iPod>Music and tick the box "only update checked songs"

  • ITunes plays only checked songs

How can I have my itunes play ALL my music collection songs? not just the checked ones? but still sync only the checked ones with my ipod.

There is no way to do that. You can play an unchecked song by double-clicking it, but thereafter iTunes will proceed to play just checked songs.
The best way to manage the music on your iPod is to sync selected playlists. That way you can keep all of your music checked for iTunes yet have a smaller subset on your iPod.

  • My iPhone never had a problem syncing with my iTunes. I check all the songs I want and when I manually connect the phone to the computer via USB, i would select "sync only checked songs and videos". No music will sync now and I've tried everything?

Normally my phone would connect with my computer and replace all the songs on my phone with all the songs available in my library. Now it seems as if the songs on my phone are permanently there, and nothing from my iTunes library will sync. I tried syncing with another library on another computer and nothing would sync onto my iPhone from that one either. I feel like it's a problem with the phone, not the iTunes, but I'm not sure. Ive been trying things for the last 8 hours. Why won't my music sync to my phone??

    1. Open iTunes.
    2. Click the View option in the iTunes menu.
    3. Select the Show Sidebar option.
Connect your phone, select it in the Sidebar...the various tabs will now show as before.

  • How do I transfer my music from my laptop to my iPhone? I've already checked the sync only checked songs and videos box, the manually manage music and videos box. I only want to sync the songs I checked, but it transfers all the music.

I dont want to transfer all the music just the checked ones. My macbook transfers all the music from my library to my iphone. I dont get it. Please if you could help that would be terrific.

    Hi RaulRod,
Are you pressing the Sync button to transfer music after connecting your iPhone or do you have the option checked to 'Automatically Sync when the iPhone is connected?'
Have you tried manually dragging and dropping music from your library into your phone?
