Only D-Z Contacts Synced To iCloud

I'm using iPhone 5 and have an iCloud account set to sync my contacts with iCloud. I jumped in a lake with the phone in my pocket so now it's dead and I'm looking at iCloud and only my D-Z contacts got synced. What's the deal with this? Do my contacts sync on my itunes backup at least?

Did you enable the syncing of Contacts on iTunes?  Usually, if you have it set up on iCloud, it defaults to 'off' for iTunes.
Restore from your iTunes backup and see what happens.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
If you can't do this on a computer, which would be much easier using drag and drop, then you will need to share the contacts with yourself in order to move them to the iCloud account.

  • Why aren't Yahoo contacts syncing to iCloud?

I have 2 contacts groups on my iPad. I have an iPad group and a Yahoo group. I can see all of my contacts on my iPad, but on iCloud.com I can only see my iPad contacts.  If I click the groups ribbon, it only shows one group. What am I doing wrong?  All of my iCloud syncs are on, but the yahoo contacts do not show on iCloud.  Only one group shows on the iCloud ribbon.

Only an iCloud group will sync with iCloud.

  • Why don't my contacts sync from iCloud?

I have moved my mobile me account to iCloud. Backed up my iPhone, backed up my iPad but my contacts folder is still empty. What do I do to make it sync? I thought it was all meant to happen automatically!

I have been STRESSED about my contacts. Not only were my contacts not syncing, my computers were freezing because of 'AddressBookSourceSync.' iCloud at this moment can't support Groups, if you have groups in your address book that you have created, back up your address book on your Mac and save it on your hard drive until Apple sends out a fix.
On your Mac(s) go to Systems Preferences under Mail stop syncing your iCloud address book. Delete your complete iCloud account from iPhone, iPod Touch and/or iPad and DO NOT KEEP THE CONTACTS ON YOUR DEVICES!.  Delete your groups individually on http://iCloud.com. **delete your groups, not your address book** Once you have no groups, and 'All Contacts' is the only category you see on iCloud's website, delete your entire address book on your Mac(s) -- you should have NO ADDRESSES IN YOUR APPLE ADDRESS BOOK! Go back to System Preferences and allow iCloud to sync again. When it syncs in your Apple Address Book 'iCloud Addresses' with NO GROUPS listed.
    !!BACKUP YOUR DEVICES!!
On your devices, make sure you have no addresses, if you don't re-add your iCloud account and you are ready to go. Add a "test" contact and it should sync. If you can't remove the addresses from your phone, iPad or iPod, reset the phone and DON'T RESTORE FROM A BACKUP, start your phone from scratch and re-add iCloud.
When Apple fixes this problem, you can easily restore from the backup you did earlier. This does not remedy the battery drain problem on iPhone 4S, but my Macs no longer freeze and my address books are syncing perfectly.

  • Contact sync via iCloud

    Hello,
I noticed recently that not all of my contacts were synchronized between my iPhone 5 and my MacBook Pro (Mac OS 10.8.2, btw). On my iPhone, some of the contact infos are stored on iCloud, and the others on the iPhone itself (I truly don't know why), and only the contacts on iCloud sync with the contacts app on the MBP. Does someone know how to solve this?
    Thank you!

I've just got an iPhone, and noticed, like some people, that there were some differences in my contacts list.  Like you I was miffed as contacts on iPhone and MBA were not in perfect harmony.  On my iPhone I tried turning the contacts off on iCloud then turning back on again and, hey presto, the changes on my MBA synced with the phone.  I'm not at all technical (retired 60 something lady) and was as annoyed as anyone that my 200+ contacts didn't sync automatically but this worked for me, hope it helps someone else too.

  • Google CONTACT sync with iCloud Contact sync?!

i am trying to finalize a sync of my contacts so that i have PHONE NUMBERS sorted in groups on my iPhone but i /also/ have email addresses to use in the autocomplete function in Mail on my phone.
if i don't have the Phone Numbers sorted into groups i will not be able to find anything and if i don't have emails in the autocomplete then i have to literally run a search in (what i have found to be a weak search function on the iPhone in Mail) then i have to find an email sent from this person, then i have to COPY the address than i have to paste it into an email.
i /currently/ have a sync using iCloud of my MOST IMPORTANT phone numbers and the "Previous Recipients" email data that i have run a applescript to get into AB/Contacts. So now the phone numbers and this Previous Recipients data is available to all devices.
i won't bore you with the details but i am finally uploading everything else (business cards etc, etc) to Google Contacts.
does anyone have any suggestions at this point as to whether i can ADD a sync with Google presumably by checking something in iTunes OR whether there is a way to add a GMail as a Microsoft Exchange Account?

SHOULD I JUST EXPORT MY CONTACTS/ADDRESS BOOK DATA and import it to Google and just do a Google sync?
CAN I DO BOTH SYNCS AT THE SAME TIME?
WILL THE GOOGLE DATA SHOW UP in autocomplete in MAIL on all my devices?
anyone done this in a way that works?!
    THANKS

    Preference -> Accounts
Under accounts you have your local On My Mac account, which Apple supplies the ability to sync with google and yahoo. Then there is no way to sync it with icloud. When you add your icloud account as well you just have 2 seperate address books in the same app, with no way to keep them in sync.
    Do you mean like this?
I don't seem to be having any issue adding an iCloud account to address book.

  • Need help with contact syncing using iCloud.  How do I do it?

I deleted LOTS of contacts on my iphone which syncs with icloud but now I want to sync my ipad using the icloud and do not want to have my ipad to override the corrected contact list.  How do I do that?
    Thanks. Pat

I did a back up as I too am paranoid.  I am wondering if there is a way to wipe my contacts from my iPad and then do the merge?
When I was deleting all the contacts from my iPhone I thought it was best to turn off icloud on my iPad.  In hindsight I think that was incorrect.
Thanks both of you for responding thus far.

  • New contact sync with iCloud

i added i new contact to my iphone and when i checked icloud the contact was not there. i did not have wifi at the time.

On My Mac is a local account, it does not sync to iCloud, use the iCloud account for all contacts/calendars you wish to be available on your devices.
If you are actually using 10.6.7 and not Lion this will not work at all, iCloud services require Lion (10.7.x) or 3rd party software (Soho Organizer) in order to subscribe on Snow Leopard (10.6.x)

  • Only half my contacts sync with Outlook 2013!!

I have an iPhone 4 (OS 7.1) with 950 contacts on it. I am wanting to back them up. It seems I can only back up to outlook or windows contacts. I have chosen Outlook and it syncs about half of my contacts fine. I am not sure what has happened to the remaining contacts!!!! I have spent 3 hours trying to resolve this but with no luck. The only other thing to note is my Apple ID is different to my work email ...but not sure that makes a difference!!! Also, as these are work contacts our corporate guidelines say that we cannot us iCloud.
    Please someone help!! :-(

    Hello Jonno F
Check out the article below for more information on trying to import your contacts that are on your iPhone to your computer. I know you said you are not allowed to use iCloud for syncing contacts, but it might by synced with another service. To look for that, go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars and look at your mail accounts and if one of them says contacts, then those will be on that syncing service.  You can also view them when you are in the Contacts App and tap Groups in the upper right hand corner. It will then display any groups as well as any other separation of Contacts through different accounts and locally stored contacts.

  • Why don't all my contact sync with icloud

when i got my phone i imported some contacts from the sim card and others from my gmail account. some contacts i entered manually. why do only some of the contacts syncronize with icloud

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Check that all your contacts are in your primary iCloud group, only contacts in this group will sync with your primary iCloud account.
In the example above I have a secondary iCloud account, but you might also see a 'On My Phone' group.

  • Only 90% of Contacts synced to iPhone

I recently got my new iPhone and started then to add my Contacts to the Addressbook on my MacBook.
My issue is that iTunes syncs only 48 of my 57 Contacts from the Addressbook to my iPhone. Can anyone help?
    thanks
    Bruno

First try resetting sync history in iSync. of that fails to fix the problem it means that you have one or more entries in Address Book that are corrupt. Try making a change to the ones that are not syncing and saving the change. It is usually just one that is bad, but that one stops the sync process. This is an address book problem, not an iPhone problem.

  • Calendar and Mail won't sync  with iCloud.

They synchronize fine between iMac and iPad. Contacts, Notes and Reminders are the only categories that do sync with iCloud on my iMac.  I am running the latest Mountain Lion upgrade.

If I understand what you are saying, iCloud seems like its over-hyped and is pretty useless for Mail and Calendar. It makes no sense to me to have Calendar and Mail available on iCloud if it doesn't show the same Calendar and Mail that is on your iMac and iPad.
Yes, my Calendar syncs with Google as well as on the iPad and iMac. Why shouldn't it also sync with iCloud?
Because it's a Google Service not an iCloud service, you can still sync it to your Mac and your devices, just not using iCloud.

  • I cannot make my Outlook 2010 calendar/tasks/contacts sync with the calendar on my iPhone 5, I cannot make my Outlook 2010 calendar sync with the calendar on my iPhone 5

I have wasted so many hours trying to make this work and researching Apple support.  Nothing works so I am hoping to get an answer here.
First of all, here is what I am using:
    Windows 7 32 bit
    Outlook 2010
    iPhone 5 and iPad 3
    iOS 7.0.2 on both devices
I have downloaded the iCloud app for my Windows computer and checked that it sync my contacts, calendar, and tasks.  I have enabled iCloud on my phone for contacts, calendars and tasks.  I have not been able to get anything to sync.  My iCloud calendar appears in Outlook but everything is grayed out.  I see the iCloud reminders under my tasks tab but there is nothing listed.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled iCloud on my Windows computer.  I have turned off the calendars, tasks, and contacts sync under iCloud on my phone and turned them back on - nothing.  I have restarted my computer and iPhone - nothing.  Same results with my iPad - nothing.
Additionally, I have gmail as my personal email; also am forced to use Good for Enterprise for my work email.
I am at my wits end.  I finally ended up syncing today with the USB cable via iTunes but the whole point behind iCloud is to be able to sync wirelessly.
ANY help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello there janis143,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like after the recent iOS update, your Outlook content is no longer syncing properly to your phone.
    I found this article named:

My iCloud contacts is fine. The contacts in my iPhone are a mess. Tons of dupes, folks long deleted etc...How do I only have the contacts in iCloud sync to my iphone?

Download the free app My Contacts Backup.  Go to Settings>iCloud, turn Contacts to Off, when prompted choose Delete from My iPhone.  Check the contacts on your phone.  If you have any left on your phone, launch My Contacts Backup, tap the gear shaped icon on the bottom right, scroll to the bottom and tap Remove All Contacts.  When finished, go back to Settings>iCloud and turn Contacts back to On to sync the unduplicated contacts back to your phone from iCloud.
Also, be sure you aren't trying to sync your contacts with both iCloud and iTunes or you will get duplicates.
